Blimey you are organising this early this year...can you put myself and my hubby on your list please. I'll have 1, 5 and 11 please but no custard...I like brandy butter or cream but definitely not custard so plain if necessary. Thanks :-)
I'll let you know later what hubby wants.
Di

IanT(MoneyAM) - 20 Sep 2006 12:33 - 3 of 231

Di,

Thanks will start updating the list when there are a few more people here. I know it seems early, but I looked back and it was around the same time last year that we started off! Doesn't time fly!

greekman - 20 Sep 2006 15:36 - 4 of 231

Ian,

Would love to come but can't get to London.

Why not vary the location now and then. What's wrong with Hull, just look what it's got going for it. Cheap restaurants and erm, a very big bridge and erm, OK not much else, but still if ever anyone fancies fish and chips for Xmas dinner, could they let me know. (If SEO don't get their act going, I will only be able to afford the chips).

Dave.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 20 Sep 2006 15:40 - 5 of 231

greekman

:)

chocolat - 20 Sep 2006 15:48 - 6 of 231

Bet you're just waiting for me to tell you I'll have custard with everything :)

IanT(MoneyAM) - 20 Sep 2006 15:49 - 7 of 231

choccy,

I would expect nothing else from you :)

Ian

chocolat - 20 Sep 2006 15:53 - 8 of 231

Do they do cream?
Y'know - the sort you shake and squirt.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 20 Sep 2006 15:57 - 9 of 231

you are scaring me now choccy :)

cynic - 20 Sep 2006 16:06 - 10 of 231

will just have to re-arrange another appt, but should be fine ...... hope Alan will be there!

put me down for 3, 10 and 13

IanT(MoneyAM) - 20 Sep 2006 16:10 - 11 of 231

cynic,

I have added your choices to the list,

Ian

Big Al - 20 Sep 2006 16:28 - 12 of 231

Blimey, not another one already. Can I handle another one?

;-0

IanT(MoneyAM) - 20 Sep 2006 16:29 - 13 of 231

Big Al,

The questions is can we handle you at another one :)

Ian

chocolat - 20 Sep 2006 16:33 - 14 of 231

And it took him 2 years to recover last time :o)

Big Al - 20 Sep 2006 16:46 - 15 of 231

LOL Ian! Will have to check work schedule, but I don't usually do two back-to-back - 'tis true Choccy. ;-))

IanT(MoneyAM) - 20 Sep 2006 16:48 - 16 of 231

Al,

In all seriousness, would be great to see your again, so if you schedule permits, just let me know,

Ian

hewittalan6 - 20 Sep 2006 17:17 - 17 of 231

It would take a lot more than a meal to get me to London. Chloroform springs to mind as about the only thing that would.
I agree that Hull has a lot more going for it than London, but then again, Khabul is more tempting than London.
Alan

Jules - 20 Sep 2006 18:03 - 18 of 231

Al, do you mean it takes you 2 years to recover from us girlies?:-)

amberjane - 21 Sep 2006 01:24 - 19 of 231

Well it's taken me a year to recover from Big Al so why not ;>)

mg - 21 Sep 2006 07:11 - 20 of 231

Is it that time of year again - time to come out of hibernation.

Tentative yes - to be confirmed - do they do gravy with the Plum pudding?

2, 6, 13 - with lashings of lemonade please.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Sep 2006 07:15 - 21 of 231

mg,

I have added you to the list - please let me know as early as possible should you not be able to make it.

Ian

markusantonius - 21 Sep 2006 07:38 - 22 of 231

What's the crack, Ian - how many usually attend? How many of the GOLF nutters whom I know usually make it?

Presume it's all lighthearted (not like a Traders' Fayre) or similar?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Sep 2006 07:43 - 23 of 231

mark,

Its is fun and social day, numbers are usually around the 30 mark. BobColby has attended and I am sure if you come along you will have a fine day out celebrating the festive season in London.

Ian

markusantonius - 21 Sep 2006 07:46 - 24 of 231

When is the latest to commit, Ian? Tempted but Xmas is aeons away in the Mind's Eye especially with lovely blue skies overhead atm!

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Sep 2006 07:51 - 25 of 231

Mark,

Ideally around 3 weeks before, but be aware, that numbers are limited, so there may well not be space that late on.

Ian

markusantonius - 21 Sep 2006 07:53 - 26 of 231

That's OK, Ian. I will just make MG an offer for his last minute cancellation again! Sorry, Malc. :o)

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Sep 2006 08:17 - 27 of 231

As with last year some people will probably decide to book a hotel room for the night and stay over. I will find out some hotel details in the area, and add them to the header in due course.

Ian

Dynamite - 21 Sep 2006 08:34 - 28 of 231

Ian,

Hubby said he will have 1, 4 and 13 (that's the syrup pud since 3 puds are now showing as no 13!!!)
I'll bring the squirty cream for my Xmas pud and for everyone elses delight :-) ...oh and a camera I think!
Di

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Sep 2006 08:39 - 29 of 231

Di,

Thanks for pointing that out, I will get it sorted and add Mr D to the list.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Sep 2006 08:46 - 30 of 231

mg,

Can you confirm that you wanted the Steamed Syrup Sponge for pudding, as the numbers got a little mixed up in the header with more than one pud showing as 13.

Cheers

Ian

Big Al - 21 Sep 2006 10:14 - 31 of 231

Jules - you girlies always tire me out. ;-)))

....and where havbe you been hiding Ms aj? ;-)

amberjane - 21 Sep 2006 10:31 - 32 of 231

Hi Al, I've been around the world spending all the money I earnt from that tip of yours! Shame you didnt buy it or you cud of come!!

However the reality is.......another hobby has taken up a lot of my time (a specialist subject!) but I've cleared the 8th just in case you can make it

ThePublisher - 21 Sep 2006 12:19 - 33 of 231

Count me in please.

2 4 and 11

Missed out last year due to some now forgotten reason.

Good to hear some voices from Hull. Spent what I laughingly call my formative years there in Wilerby.

But am now firmly committed to London, which can have it's good aspects.

TP

IanT(MoneyAM) - 21 Sep 2006 12:24 - 34 of 231

ThePublisher,

I have now added you to the list. Look forward to meeting you then.

Ian

Kayak - 21 Sep 2006 16:08 - 35 of 231

2, 7, and 11 please Ian.

mg - 21 Sep 2006 18:49 - 36 of 231

Ian
I was after the Aberdeen Angus and Bread & Butter Pudding but I'll now go with AA for main and Syrup for pud.

If we put all the starters, main and pudding on one plate we should be able to get the eating over quickly so that Al can amuse us with his drinking games.

Whaddya Fink

PS - All this talk of Hull is spooky - I'm just about to leave after spending the last 10 months there ...... but I know a cracking fish n'chips cafe if anyone's interested in an alternative Xmas Bash :)

Bullshare - 21 Sep 2006 19:08 - 37 of 231

MG; What was the 10 month sentnce for this time, I presume you have got early parole :-)

markusantonius - 21 Sep 2006 19:17 - 38 of 231

I wondered why MG was lagging behind on the fairways of the M/AM Golf Day - it must've been his electronic tagging device causing him to limp a bit? o)

IanT(MoneyAM) - 22 Sep 2006 07:12 - 39 of 231

Thanks mg, I have amended accordingly.

Kayak,

I have added you to the list.

Ian

Sue 42 - 22 Sep 2006 08:16 - 40 of 231

I would love to come as the one I went to a few years ago was brilliant.

However, I don't think I can because:

a) We are getting a puppy in 5 weeks time & I don't think I can leave it for that long

b) My office Xmas party is the night before & at my age I can't do double hangovers any more!

IanT(MoneyAM) - 22 Sep 2006 08:24 - 41 of 231

Sue,

Come along - it is the party season after all. If you can't go out twice on the trot at Xmas when can you :)

smiler o - 22 Sep 2006 08:56 - 42 of 231

IanT

This morning every time I click news it hangs , any thoughts ?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 22 Sep 2006 08:59 - 43 of 231

Ian

Sue 42 - 22 Sep 2006 08:59 - 44 of 231

Thought for the day - no news is good news?

Ian - the puppy is the real problem!

hewittalan6 - 22 Sep 2006 09:00 - 45 of 231

So buy a dog that can hold its beer!!!!

IanT(MoneyAM) - 22 Sep 2006 09:01 - 46 of 231

Smiler,

I have just tried it and it is nice and speedy. If you are trying to access from the stockwatch, it could be a pop up blocker which is causing the issue. To keep things off this thread (as it it the xmas one), could you E mail me directly ian@moneyam.com and let me know exactly what you are doing and what is happening?

Thanks

Ian

Big Al - 22 Sep 2006 20:12 - 47 of 231

smiler - was it the Xmas news? ;-))

aj - If you go, I'll think about it. I might have a dentist's appointment that day though. Sharper gnashers on order? ;-))

mg / all - If I do get down this year, I want every one to promise that if I suddenly ask for Armagnac I am immediately handcuffed to the nearest female trader for safe-keeping. ;-))

Big Al - 22 Sep 2006 20:14 - 48 of 231

Sue - bring the dog. I'll walk it! ;-))

Big Al - 22 Sep 2006 21:12 - 51 of 231

LOL Mike! It seems unlikely at the moment, but we'll see.

Choccy - How's about the chocolate pie without the chocolate...................or is it the pie?

Bullshare - 23 Sep 2006 06:55 - 52 of 231

Big Al; That'll be a great shame, Xmas lunch and evening wont be the same.

could be a quiet do then!

mg - 25 Sep 2006 10:04 - 57 of 231

aldwickk
There's no need to be like that.

My psychiatrist says I'm OK as long as I don't mix with oil men from North of the Border, short baldy blokes who live in the Home Counties or long haired engineers who live in the Cotswolds. As for women with a predilection for chocolate - well, nuff said - I've got some special medication for that affliction.

chocolat - 29 Sep 2006 21:50 - 74 of 231

... so long as you don't set fire to it first :P

Big Al - 30 Sep 2006 01:07 - 75 of 231

I'd better have 1, 8 and 11.

At least with all these pies and puddings, whether they're served on Choccy or not, they'll certainly soak up the meagre amount of alcohol that surrounds these sober do's. ;-))

This is a 75% attendance promise, Ian. ;-0

DocProc - 30 Sep 2006 13:29 - 76 of 231

Choccy.

Think I'll refrain from answering that one, maestro. You don't half leave yourself open don't you? - 'Scuse the pun. ;-)

IanT(MoneyAM) - 06 Nov 2006 14:44 - 117 of 231

Just so people know, I have to confirm the final meal choices on 24th November to the restaurant. So for those of you still mulling it over, let me know as soon as you can.

I'll have to gate crash this little love-in I think.

Hope some of you will speak to me at least....just so I don't feel left out and left all on my lonesome.....I don't want to end up having to chat to Martini all night (bless his smelly little cottons)!!!!!

Please put me down for a Smoked Salmon parfait starter, followed by the Roast Turkey main dish and the Steamed Syrup sponge pud.

Regards,

Bones - 08 Nov 2006 21:01 - 133 of 231

Great, the Count, Amber, MG et al. As I recall, the conversation over dinner veered onto many unorthodox subject matters last year. I am still mulling over some of the issues 11 months on :)

Am most certainly looking forward to Amber's extra steam over pudding......

amberjane - 09 Nov 2006 00:45 - 134 of 231

You been dreaming again Bonesie !! We were on the quiet non-drinkers table dont you remember?

and I'll speak to you Count :>) but it's your turn to pick the subject !

How could you tell - I had my Burkha on - always useful 'cos:

a) you can pull the flap down if the glare gets too bright
b) you can store a bottle of scotch without anyone noticing
c) it prevents groping from dodgy dudes like you

Anyway I wasn't drunk - it was my medication. Don't get out much and I'm used to drinking Prison hooch - that's why I need my medication!!

Have you signed my release forms for this Xmas. The Governor is only allowing me out if you vouch for my safety.

Bullshare - 09 Nov 2006 11:10 - 139 of 231

Fos; You will have to ask Choccie and amberjane to vouch for your safety!

I noticed this in one of the papers over the weekend which may interest some of you girls. :))

The just desserts.
The latest gastronomic craze is to skip the boring bits and go straight to the main event:dessert. A host of dessert-only restaurants offer no escape from temptation. Check out Espai Sucre in Barcelona, Room4Dessert and ChikaLicious in New York or the UK's own Pudding Club.

mg - 09 Nov 2006 12:39 - 143 of 231

Not sure if I'd go anywhere near the Pudding Club if I were choccaroos or ambibambi !!!!

Big Al - 09 Nov 2006 13:05 - 144 of 231

I propose that this year alcohol is barred.

amberjane - 09 Nov 2006 14:50 - 146 of 231

Going to sleep tonight dreaming of stocking tops...

chocolat - 09 Dec 2006 10:09 - 174 of 231

No bread rolls, Julesie - mince pies make for a softer landing ;)

Well I was serenaded by mobile to some wonderful notes from a jazzclub in downtown Covent Garden late last night :) So some of the boys won't be too bright and breezy this morning.

Hey it was a great day and thanks for organising it, Ian.
I was especially impressed by the fact that Gausie managed two puddings, apparently I got Pinnie's pudding - which was very nice, seeing as it was festooned in Christmas cracker goodies. Never saw what Pinnie got cos I lost my twizzer under the table ;)

Oops I just remembered!

mg - 09 Dec 2006 10:36 - 175 of 231

Another great bash - sorry I shot off unannounced - - it wasn't the company - honest.

Was feeling all hot and bothered in the Porterhouse so went off to the Loo then decided I couldn't face the battle to get back to the table so made my way back home. Must be the earliest departure ever - I even got off at the right station!!

Think I've got a touch of Flu - or something - so I'll have left you all with a luvverly Christmas present.

Looking forward to next year already !!

I'll now retreat back to my bed .....

Thanks everyone for a great night...shame I just couldn't get my aim right...I just couldn't get Chocy's treacle pudding but I think I Bones was on the receiving end of a few flying objects :0)
Nice to see you all again and look forward to next year. Hopefully next time I'll have time to eat more before they nick my plate and drink less!!
Have a great christmas and enjoy whatever Santa puts in your stockings!!

THE COUNT--->ALL

Great day and night everyone. Thanks to MAM for arranging yet another good bash. It is invariably, the best opportunity to get to see fellow investors throughout the year...and so many have become friends as well.

We actually got off to a good one, talking about piercings and Prince Albert's and the like...mainly instigated by MG and Martini (MG, hope you get well soon mate), and given a girl's touch as well...courtesy of Amber. I think both MG and I decided that we were cowards...if we were ever pierced, we'd opt for general anaesthetic. MG then proceeded to display a quite ample nipple to all at the table, that certainly would have looked pretty useful pierced. I seriously considered sticking my fork through it....whilst it was being photographed (screw the anaesthetic)....and to then ask him about it afterwards. I can be quite sadistic sometimes, which then led on to Martini telling me that all men like bondage. When I protested that no woman would ever tie me up because she might just then decide to leave me there....he would have none of it. He insisted that I do like it and was having none of it from me. Incidentally all, Martini is off to Thailand for Christmas...he said it was for the lovely beaches. I got so jealous!!!!

I did want to move on to the Jazz club with some of the lads, but I decided, having partaken of a heavy night the night before as well (I am now an old codger), that instead, I would share another drink with Amber and Bones and then move on.

After a good day, I was safely tucked up in my bed just after midnight, and dreaming of bondage and piercings, and the 'sunny beaches' of Thailand. I reckon Prince Albert would be turning in his grave if he knew what his name was now being used to describe. So it was sweet dreams for me, and up early on a cold winters morn to watch my little 'un play a game of footie at 9.45am.

So endeth my tale.

Have a nice Christmas all, and look forward to seeing everyone (and many more) next year.

Regards,

THE COUNT!

Dynamite - 09 Dec 2006 13:32 - 179 of 231

I seem to remember the one being revealing was you Gausie in more ways than one :-)

Gausie - 09 Dec 2006 14:11 - 180 of 231

Now you're mixing me up with Kayak

Bones - 09 Dec 2006 15:24 - 181 of 231

Great day everyone! The Count! has pretty much described the day as I was on his table and chatting in the Porterhouse later. Shame he revealed the owner of the nipple! I have a good photo of this "objet d'art" and I had ideas of using it in a competition "who's nipple?" It was, after all, in the realms of a Scammell wheelnut and conjured up images of Pamela Anderson........

Never mind, there is a "useful" photo of Gausie and Choccy which will do nicely for a caption competition. Once I've recharged my camera battery, I'll get them up!

A few people left the pub to trek back north. The more hardier souls such as Greystone, Bullie and Pinsticker moved on to a jazz club. I'm not sure they were going to be satisfied as Glenn Miller wasn't playing last night.

The Count!, Amber and myself stayed at the Porterhouse for another drink before going our separate ways at Leicester Square. The hour long trip on the train was useful recuperation time for me as the head was starting to thump :)

Good to meet all the old faces, too many to mention........

Kayak - 09 Dec 2006 15:34 - 182 of 231

Nah, I'm bigger there.

Bobcolby - 09 Dec 2006 16:21 - 183 of 231

Really enjoyed the day and the company, well done Ian and that baldy guy.

Not feeling too bright today, must be MG's flu. Could not possibly have been the booze, I only had a few bottles of that red beer.

Martini - 09 Dec 2006 17:18 - 184 of 231

O dear just home and it is all a bit of a blur.

I can remember having a nice cup of tea in the Savoy with Choccie and Gausie and after that it all starts to blend together.

The first thing I can remember clearly was waking up at 03:00 am in the back of one of those rickshaw type bikes being peddled along by this mad Croatian down the middle of the Strand on the way to my Hotel.

How I got there what happened in between are just a blur.

I can remember a nipple or two at one point but surely not on a hairy chest.
I am very worried now about what happened.

Did I have a good time please?

Regards
M

chocolat - 09 Dec 2006 17:52 - 185 of 231

Oh you had a very fine time, M - for once it wasn't you who ate all the pies :)

It's a good job mg's taken to his sickbed, Bonesie, or he'd be dead upset to see you compared him to Pamela now - I mean, when's the last time her eyebrows got a good trimming?

The Count - 09 Dec 2006 20:38 - 186 of 231

THE COUNT--->GAUSIE

Just back from the Tottenham vs Charlton game.

Sorry Gausie, I know you were not too hopeful about your chances at the Christmas bash last night, but I did think you would do better. I'm afraid, after a reasonable start, we, the mighty Tottenham Hotspur, ripped your beloved Charlton apart. Look out for the goals tonight, with your former player's goal, Jermaine Defoe's, being the pick of the bunch.

I think you really do have problems and I can't see you guys staying up, although we finally did turn it on, rather than just threaten to do so, as we have done so many times before. You ended up being the whipping boys today I'm afraid.

Sorry to be the bringer of sad tidings in this season of good cheer.

Regards,

THE COUNT!

Martini - 09 Dec 2006 20:43 - 187 of 231

Whipping boys? I thought you claimed you weren't into that?

M:)

Bones - 09 Dec 2006 20:45 - 188 of 231

amberjane - 09 Dec 2006 23:20 - 189 of 231

Now whats all this chaps....

I wasnt anywhere, with anyone, at any time, doing anything!!! I'm not telling what time i got home nor what time i got up, cept it was pm I believe :>)) and Im not telling you my dreams either...

But somehow notwithstanding that, i had a great time, so thanks to Ian for organising it...xx and thanks really to The Count and Bonsie for the double escort.....xx and I now know Martini is into a little hanky spanky but that was nothing compared to Big Al last year so i got off light....

and wow MG, yes you definitely had the biggest on show, but then the others knew they couldnt compete so chickened it. Anyhow we can all see when Bonsie has recharged!

Greystone - 10 Dec 2006 08:34 - 190 of 231

Thanks to everybody for a great day. Always fun to catch up with what everyone is up to. Hope you all got back safely.

Great lunch, Ian and Bully.

Thank you for organising it.

Sorry to all you folks who I never got a chance to thank for all your words of wisdom. As I said to Bully, I think the real value that comes from this 'chat group' extends far beyond the boring business of stocks and shares.

Whether it is who can provide the best value broadband, or how to collect a debt or recover your papers from a dubious accountant - you get sound advice untainted by b*llsh*t.

As I couldn't quite sort out who was who on Friday I'll say it now.

Thank you.

May all your hard drives keep spinning smoothly through 2007 and beyond!
