Seymour Pierce forecast for current financial year is 5.9p eps on a 20% tax charge....dividend forecast 1.77p.......Prospective p/e is 6.7 ...@39.5p
Spectrum is a payphone cash cow, of which declining income is being arrested by innovations such as advertising, ATM's, Microcells & Wi-fi, in street payphones. Cash is being invested into the highly profitable & high growth Interactive divisions, which are making an increasing impact in terms of percentage of turnover & profits for the group

From Investors Chronicle 7-14th October 2006:

Spectrum is switching between two quite different telecom businesses. On the one hand, it operates over 9,000 payphones (over half of which are in London) whose revenue is rapidly diminishing. On the other hand, income from internet terminals and wireless internet links in hotels and airports is rapidly increasing. So in 2005-06, profits from payphones more than halved to 749,000, while income from internet terminals jumped from 211,000 to 511,000. And these trends will continue as the company is spending no working capital on the payphones, but over 2m this year supplying 80 internet terminals a month in the UK and Germany as well as wiring 10 hotels a month with wireless networking. To date 300 hotels have been wired including Travelodge and Premier Travel Inns, covering 30,000 rooms.

Before goodwill amortisation and one-off costs, last year's profits were little changed at 2m. If there's no goodwill charge this year, brokers think that profits could rise to 2.5m on sales modestly higher at 18.4m. But in place of a nil-rate tax charge (and a 734,000 deferred tax credit in 2004-05) there could be a 20 per cent tax charge. So broker Seymour Pierce is only looking for earnings of 5.9p a share and a little-changed dividend. BUY.

Interactive turnover up 124% ...Interactive profit up 143%....for 2006.

PRESS RELEASE

BAA award seven airport Internet Kiosk contract worth 5M to Spectrum Interactive plc
84__main

BAA, the world's leading airport company, has awarded a new seven airport internet kiosk contract to Spectrum Interactive plc, estimated to be worth 5m, following a competitive tender process. Spectrum already operates over 200 internet kiosks within the BAA estate and also provides payphones to each airport. This new contract will commence in 2008 and extends the company's leading position in the UK airport market through to 2011.

Importantly, the agreement also includes rights to install new units into Heathrow Terminal 5 which opens in March 2008. Terminal 5 alone is expected to service around 30 million passengers per annum by 2010.

Mark Lewarne, CEO Spectrum Interactive commented, "We are absolutely delighted to have been awarded this prestigious contract. BAA is a long standing Spectrum partner, and we have worked extremely hard to offer a superb package of good design, service and operational support to suit the demands of some of the busiest airports in the world. Securing this contract and extending our relationship with BAA into Terminal 5 allows Spectrum to invest further in new design and product features. We look forward to a long continued association with our partner BAA."

Colin Hargrave, Managing Director, UK Airports BAA, said: "BAA is committed to offering the very best airport experience to passengers, and we demand the same approach from our partners. Spectrum has always been a strong partner with superior levels of service, innovation and marketing initiatives, and with demand for internet services at our airports increasing rapidly, we are confident that Spectrum is ready to meet these challenges and further develop this growing market."

Commenting on the design of Spectrum's latest internet areas Mark Lewarne added, "This is a very significant win for Spectrum, and it indicates that the company has got the right blend of product, design and operational experience. The award of Terminal 5 is particularly exciting. BAA demanded only the very best partners for this project, and Spectrum's new T5 designs had to meet and exceed BAA's expectations. We'll be setting new standards of design and service features for T5, which will be a benchmark for future airport installations."

Spectrum Interactive, the AIM-listed provider of payphones and public access wi-fi terminals chaired by Lord Young of Graffham, fell 3p to 35p, despite winning a 5 million contract from BAA to operate internet kiosks at seven of its airports. The deal, which begins in 2008, includes rights to install kiosks at Heathrows Terminal 5, which is forecast to handle about 30 million passengers a year. Spectrum, floated last year at 30p, operates more than 200 kiosks across the BAA estate.

Peter J Hippey - 20 Oct 2006 17:30 - 26 of 83

swsen

I would think as Interactive side takes over we would get a growth p/e of something like 16 or 18, and a shareprice of around 1, that will be late 2007 though in my opinion after next years finals.

Peter J Hippey - 20 Oct 2006 19:53 - 27 of 83

That stake (annouced at 4.28pm) cost about 6p short of 450,000. Also the price was 35-9 when he paid 39p, a huge vote of confidence in my opinion.

goldfinger - 20 Oct 2006 23:45 - 28 of 83

Never mind the vote of confidence, just what is his game?.

A takeover on the cards here?.

swseun - 25 Oct 2006 03:05 - 45 of 83

hi guys,
It may be a silly question - what was the reason of its previous drop from abt 95p in May 2005?

Many thanks
sws

Peter J Hippey - 25 Oct 2006 06:32 - 46 of 83

I believe it lost a lot of value for the following reasons:

1) The Ex-CEO for Germany, was selling shares & Germany has struggled, nothing major but a small loss at full year results.

2) ATM's were expected to grow at the rate of 150 in the first year, but sadly planning restrictions has stifled that growth level to a much more modest one.

3) Actual payphone revenue declined around 17%, if you check the prospectus it had been falling a steady 5% or so for several years, so quite a big downturn despite mobile phones being well established. However payphone revenue decline was arrested to something much more reasonable like 5 or 6% over the year due to ATM's advertising in Street paypones (up 32% year on year) and Wi-fi & Microcells.

Now we have had a review that has cut costs in line with payphone revenue, a London Office has been closed, I think payphone profit because of this, will actually be UP this year.

Also with 3 different directors buying at 24p, 39p & 44p. you have to think that everything must be now looking pretty good after the cost saving measures.

swseun - 25 Oct 2006 11:30 - 47 of 83

Spectrum's new banking agreement enables further investment in company's Internet Business

No image No image

Spectrum Interactive plc (AIM:SIN), the public internet and payphone operator, is pleased to announce that it has agreed a new five-year banking agreement with Bank of Scotland Corporate which extends Spectrum"s existing 5.4m of senior loans to 2011. Bank of Scotland has been the company's senior debt provider since 2002.

Mark Lewarne, Spectrum's CEO said today, "This is an excellent development for the company. It strengthens our long-term relationship with the Bank of Scotland and enables us to invest more in our growing interactive business and target additional acquisitions. It is also a significant vote of confidence by the Bank in our long-term strategy.

Daryll Windsor, Director of Relationship Banking at Bank of Scotland also commented, "We are very pleased to be extending our agreement with Spectrum. We have a successful, long-standing relationship with the Company, and we are confident this new deal will assist the company in continuing to develop its growing interactive business."

Nice one Pete.

Additional acquisitions. Sounds like might sort of stuff.

andysmith - 05 Nov 2006 18:27 - 62 of 83

GF, I have recently been pointed to take a look at SIN and found that you are on here, always respected your views. It appears that general view is too cheap with growth potential but do you feel that growth will outstrip decline of payphone revenue?

goldfinger - 05 Nov 2006 23:20 - 63 of 83

Most certainly Andy, but its also nice to have assets that produce cash flow like the underlying business.

Far too cheap I beleive.

According to Mail on Sunday, Travelodge has 250,000 rooms & intends to double its number of hotels in the UK in the next 3 years (2010)and expand on continent as well.

Very very good news for spectrum.

(from Investors Chronicle last month: "To date 300 hotels have been wired including Travelodge and Premier Travel Inns, covering 30,000 rooms.")

goldfinger - 12 Nov 2006 23:13 - 72 of 83

Very good news indeed.

Plenty of growth left in these.

2006 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Spectrum Interactive plc (SIN:LN), the public internet and payphone operator,
will hold its Annual General Meeting today at 12pm at Citigate Dewe Rogerson, 3
London Wall Buildings, London, EC2M 5SY.

Lord Young of Graffham, Chairman of Spectrum, will make the following statement
to shareholders:

The Company is making good progress in its transition from payphone operator to
being the UK market leader in the provision of public internet access. Our
internet kiosk service is now established in over 20 UK airports and over 500
hotels and our rapidly growing WiFi business now encompasses in excess of 30,000
hotel bedrooms, corporate apartments and university residences.

Trading in the UK business during the first quarter of this financial year has
been satisfactory with good growth of our internet business in line with market
forecast. Our internet and payphone services at airports have been in particular
high demand due to the increased delays caused by the security alert at all UK
airports in August, and I am able to report that we responded extremely well to
the demands this placed on the business. Although underlying payphone revenues
were below forecast during the quarter, PAC revenue (from 0800 calls) has held
up strongly and in addition our outdoor media business has seen a 17%
improvement on the prior period. In contrast, our German business, which
accounts for approximately 15% of our turnover, has experienced difficult
trading conditions, with payphone revenues falling faster than expected. We have
also found it more difficult to obtain growth of our internet business in
Germany, although we are confident that a recent change in management will
produce improved results in the second half of the year.

Since the year end we have also announced a new contract with BAA for internet
terminals, a very exciting win which secures our current business at 7 of the
UK's busiest airports through to 2011 and also includes the extension into
Heathrow Terminal 5 which opens in March 2008. We believe this contract to be
worth 5m over its lifetime based upon current revenues, although we expect the
potential to introduce new products and services during this period will add
considerable value to the proposition.

There were two further significant developments in the first quarter, firstly
our acquisition of i-yonder Limited which strengthens our WiFi business in terms
of contracts and expertise, and secondly, a restructured banking agreement with
Bank of Scotland which extends our relationship to 2011 and provides greater
flexibility for the Company to use existing cash flows to fund organic growth
and acquisitions.

In conclusion, we expect revenues in the first half to be higher than last year,
although profit will be lower in part due to some high-margin, one-off business
obtained last year which has not been repeated this year. Overall, we remain
confident that the development of our interactive business will lead to
reasonable growth being achieved for the full year.
