Hello traders!

With the US back on stream and plenty of UK big-hitters reporting results, hopefully tomorrow will see some more volume and volatilty to give the trader a better chance of making a buck.

See you in the morning with the latest.....

6.9 Quake Indonesia - warning of possible tsunami

Kyoto - 20 Feb 2007 08:44 - 23 of 57

JAKARTA (AP)--A powerful earthquake in northeastern Indonesia triggered a tsunami warning Tuesday and caused panicked residents to flee shaking buildings, officials and media reports said.

The U.S. Geological Survey initially put the temblor's magnitude at 6.9, but later revised it to 6.5. The quake struck 210 kilometers from Ternate, the capital of Maluku island, at a depth of 31 kilometers.

"We have called local authorities in Ternate and coastal areas to warn them of a potential tsunami," said Fauzi, a seismologist who goes by only one name.

Third, the government also proposes to modernise the definition of a 'recognised stock exchange' for tax purposes to allow shares traded on other regulated markets under MiFID to benefit from the same tax arrangements that currently apply only to the LSE.

This will allow shares listed by the UK Listing Authority and traded on a regulated market under MiFID to be held in an Individual Savings Account or to meet the listing requirement to be a UK Real Estate Investment Trust.
