LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Daniel Stewart has initiated coverage of Vyke Communications PLC with a strong 'buy' rating, and a target price of 430 pence, according to traders.

In a note to clients, Daniel Stewart pointed out Vyke provides a range of VoIP-based low-cost call solutions, based on activation of the WiFi chipset embedded in a range of Nokia, Samsung and Motorola handsets.

The broker explained that this connects the user to the nearest in-range WiFi HotSpot, and that Vyke demonstrates savings of between 50 and 95 pct compared to conventional mobile rates.

It said that from just 35,000 users in March 2006, Vyke's subscriber base -- including Wifi and its other IP calling services -- had grown to the 800,000 mark by mid-2007, with the broker pointing out it forecasts over 5 mln Vyke subscribers by 2010.

It added that it estimates 120 pct EBITDA compound annual growth rate
between full-years 2008 and 2011.

Initiating Coverage

We initiate coverage of Vyke with a Strong BUY rating, target price 430p/share.

Vyke provides a range of VoIP-based low-cost call solutions, based on activation of the WiFi chipset embedded in a range of Nokia, Samsung and Motorola handsets. This connects the user to the nearest in-range WiFi HotSpot (or broader-reach cloud). Vyke demonstrates savings of between 50% and 95% compared to conventional mobile rates. From just 35k users of this and its other IP calling services in March 2006, Vykes subscriber base had grown to the 800k mark by mid-2007. We forecast over 5m Vyke subscribers by 2010.

Vykes speculative VoIP appeal

Companies: VYKE

06/07/2007

The past few years have seen widespread take-up of broadband internet by households throughout the developed world. And as the amount of data that can be transmitted and received via a broadband internet connection has increased, so too has interest in using the internet to talk to friends and family.

Skype is the best-known provider of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephony. Originally, its service was a peer-to-peer solution requiring that both parties to a conversation were sitting at computers, but today it also supplies cordless and WiFi phones enabling free Skype-to-Skype calls and low-cost calls to landlines and mobiles. It also offers a To Go number that mobile phone users can dial to make low-cost international calls.

Yet Skype is facing competition from other companies keen to get in on the VoIP market. One of the more interesting is Vyke Communications, a Nordic-based company that reversed into AIM-quoted Tower in early 2005 and offers a range of services allowing people to make low-cost phone calls. As well as offering traditional phone cards (providing users with a PIN code to make a discounted long-distance call), Vyke also provides enhanced VoIP-based communication services:

The companys PC-to-phone dialler, which is similar to the Skype Out service, enables a computer user to make inexpensive phone calls to both fixed-line and mobile phones over the internet.

Vykes Web trigger calling service allows users to set up a low-cost phone call between any two phones worldwide simply by visiting the companys website.

Its Mobile offering allows GPRS and 3G mobile phone users to make cheap international phone calls using a pre-installed Vyke application.

Vykes SMS service brings the companys Mobile service to older GSM mobile phones that are not Java-enabled. A text message is sent to set up a Vyke-enabled low-cost phone call.

Key to Vykes business is its communications infrastructure, which does everything needed to facilitate a phone call over the internet, including switching, termination and billing. The company has invested heavily in this and consequently it claims to offer cheaper calls to landlines and mobiles than Skype. We own our network ourselves, so we have all the advantages of that, says executive chairman Tommy Jensen, who claims it would take a rival business at least a year to replicate Vykes platform.

Vyke operates in a number of countries already and plans to expand further. Meanwhile, demand for its enhanced VoIP services has taken off over the past year or so. Sales of these services increased from almost zero in January 2006 to 42 per cent of the companys revenues in the last quarter of last year. And in Q1 2007, they accounted for 56 per cent of total retail billings.

In 2006, turnover increased more than 75 per cent to 10 million, although losses widened to 4.2 million (2005: 2.3 million). House broker Hoodless Brennan has pencilled in another pre-tax loss, of 254,000, for this year before a profit of 2.2 million in 2008.

Jensen himself is cagey about when the company will make a profit. It depends on how aggressive we are with our marketing of Vyke, he says, although he is insistent that the company has enough balance sheet headroom not to have to raise further funds, adding, We are not looking for cash to cover operational expenses. With this years estimated sales greater than Vykes market cap, Vyke makes for an interesting, although highly speculative, play on the growing VoIP telephony market.

Vyke makes lower cost texting and international calling accessible to more mobile users

Vyke, the mobile Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service provider, has announced Vyke Lite, a new software solution that provides mobile users worldwide access to Vyke's low cost international calling and text messaging service. Free to download, Vyke Lite supports viral user-to-user distribution and features a redesigned, easier and friendlier to use interface.

Focussed on distribution via Vyke's Vyke Direct retail program, the new version of Vyke Lite has been totally re-engineered from its previous incarnation, Vyke Mobile. Vyke Lite retains Vyke Mobile's most popular services such as international IP-initiated calling and low cost, operator independent text messaging, but is now free to download and distribute by users worldwide.

Vyke Lite is a Java-based mobile application that allows users to quickly and easily make low cost, operator independent international calls and text messages. It features an ease-of-use oriented interface similar to the scroll-and-click menus found in many mobile handsets. Vyke Lite allows users to access their handset's address book directly from the application, simplifying the calling and texting process, while also supporting such standard phone features such as predictive text entry.

Jan Berger, Executive Vice President of Global Sales for Vyke said, "Previous versions of Vyke Lite have been tied to online user accounts on Vyke.com. By upgrading the software and releasing it into our successful scratch-card based VoIP distribution program, Vyke Direct, we are greatly expanding Vyke Lite's potential distribution base. Our market studies show that Vyke Lite is very relevant to Vyke Direct customers and we are very enthusiastic about its impact in the market."

Strong FY07 interims

Vyke registered strong 1H07 interims; revenues +86%YoY at 8.275m (our E 8.597m); EBITDA loss (adj) 0.82m (DSC E -0.922m); PBT -1.353m (our E -1.606m), with paying subscribers to its IP-based calling accounts of 1.001m as of Sep 15th (0.695m at 30 June) indicating continuing strong takeup.
Calling volume via IP accounts increased from 14.05m to 16.31m between June and September 15th.

Following refinancing through the issue of a 2m CB, cash in hand stood at 0.71m (Y/E 06 0.172m).

We continue to share Vyke's stated confidence in the popularity of its mobile VoIP offering, with the continued strong pace of takeup in the 3 months post-interims providing a strong indication of, as it states, "proof of concept" and "first mover advantage".

We continue to rate Vyke a BUY, target price 430p. For the full year we estimate revenues of 24.2m, PBT -2.73m based on a year-end 1.36m IP-based subscribers, but we note that this subscriber figure now looks light compared to the September outcome.

Statement Re Press Comment

Further to comments made in today's press the Company can confirm that it is has signed a letter of intent to acquire 100% of the share capital ('the
Acquisition') of a USA based VoIP network service provider ('the Target'). The
Acquisition is subject to due diligence which is ongoing and final approval by
the Board of Vyke. The Acquisition would constitute a substantial transaction
under the AIM Rules for Companies.

The Target is a VoIP service provider headquartered in the US with additional
offices in China. Its VoIP network, comprised of over 50 international points of
presence, delivers approximately 25 million minutes per month of VoIP call
traffic and has a total estimated capacity of approximately 60 million minutes
per month.

The Acquisition, if completed, would provide Vyke with a vertically consolidated
VoIP network presence in key geographical regions such as South East Asia and
Africa, allowing Vyke to increase its services and lower associated costs of
service supply in these regions. The Target's complementary VoIP network will
provide Vyke with approximately 80% more total call handling capacity.

A further announcement with further details of the Acquisition will be made in
due course following the completion of due diligence and the conclusion or
otherwise of the acquisition.

Nokia ties up with Intel in WiFi/WiMAX chipsets

Nokia has announced that it will use Intel's "Baxter Peak" chipset in its N Series Internet Tablets, the (first) WiMAX device it plans to launch in 2008.

In addition to Intel's WiMAX Rosedale 2 chipset, its "Montevina" (Centrino Duo upgrade), will offer integrated Wi-Fi and WiMAX for notebooks and UMPCs, and is supported initially by names such as Lenovo, Acer, Asus, Panasonic and Toshiba.

As the press notes "Initially cellcos will remain Nokia's largest customer base for many years, but it knows that in the open internet world, its power will be diminished. It will face competition from a wider range of operators with non-traditional models potentially new clients for Nokia and they will be forced to adapt to the open web anyway."

In short the WiFi/WiMAX wave continues to gather momentum, and Nokia's decision, located as it is at the focus of two essentially competing camps, is pivotal. Vyke's mobile access proposition is enhanced, in our view, by each step towards mainstream device adoption that WiFi and WiMAX takes.

Nokia Designing Pocket-Sized WiMAX CPE's Using Intel 'Baxter Peak' Chipsets for Sprint's WiMAX (MMDS) Broadband Wireless Network

9/27/07 - In an effort to ensure that mobile WiMAX wireless products work well together and with other products globally, Intel Corporation, Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks announced that they are testing interoperability across Intel's forthcoming WiMAX silicon for laptops and mobile Internet devices, Nokia WiMAX devices and Nokia Siemens Networks WiMAX infrastructure equipment.

Nokia also said it will use Intel's WiMAX silicon product, which is codenamed "Baxter Peak" and designed specifically for mobile Internet and consumer electronic devices, in its forthcoming Nokia Nseries Internet Tablets. The Internet tablets will be among the very first WiMAX-enabled open Internet devices expected to ship in 2008.

"WiMAX enables the mobile Internet and makes it possible to get content on a variety of new mobile devices at broadband speed, and our Baxter Peak solution is designed specifically for these exciting new devices," said Raviv Melamed, general manager of Intel's Mobile Wireless Group. "Intel, Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks all recognize our collective responsibility in ensuring that people can take full advantage of WiMAX. Simply put, the infrastructure behind the networks and the devices that access those networks must work together seamlessly."

Mobile WiMAX is a broadband wireless technology that provides multi-megabit speed, great throughput for accessing large amounts of such data as movies and multi-media content, and wide range to access the data over long distances. WiMAX devices and equipment that have been tested for compatibility with each other will help make it easier for consumers to roam from network to network with their Internet devices wherever they go for an always-connected, mobile experience.

"WiMAX will translate into people being able to take their favorite Internet experiences -- be it watching videos, streaming music or doing research on the Internet -- on the go without compromising on quality," said Ari Virtanen, Vice President, Nokia Multimedia.

Intel, Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks have already started testing their equipment and devices with dozens of other equipment vendors' products for interoperability and conformance with industry standards in Sprint's Herndon, Va. testing labs. Early interoperability testing between multiple industry partners will help to reduce the amount of time required for their respective products to successfully pass through the technical requirements from the WiMAX Forum thus accelerating time-to-market.

Intel and Nokia will continue to champion efforts with 500 other Forum members to deliver end-to-end specifications for global interoperability of WiMAX devices and infrastructure.

Nokia Internet Tablets to Become WiMAX-ready

The Nokia Nseries Internet Tablets are designed to provide a rich Internet experience on a new innovative multimedia computer platform that is small enough to fit into the pocket. The Internet-savvy audience targeted features include a full, familiar Internet experience, powered by Mozilla-based browser, e-mail functions and support for many popular applications, such as the previously announced Skype and Rhapsody.

Nokia Nseries Internet Tablets are based upon the open source Linux operating system, to enable both Nokia and Intel's vision of the "open Internet" -- delivering broadband Internet experience to users on the go. In 2008, this platform with Intel's Baxter Peak WiMAX silicon will work on the Sprint Xohm1 WiMAX network.

Based on the same WiMAX baseband silicon found in Intel's "Echo Peak" MiniCard Module for laptops and ultra-mobile devices, Baxter Peak is optimized for small form factors and low power consumption. It also includes multiple input/multiple output antenna techniques, supporting better reception and faster throughput in challenging environments.

Global distribution agreement with Nokia

Vyke has announced a global distribution agreement for its Mobile (WiFi) IP service with Nokia. In our view this represents a major step forward for the viability and profile of Vyke's offer.

Owners of WiFi-enabled Nokia handsets will be automatically directed to Vyke's end-user portal (www.vyke.com) via Nokia's "Download!" applications window.

New users will have $1 credit towards calls costing as little as 4cents each, with the option to sign up to Vyke's service thereafter.

Nokia announces 3Q results today. In 2Q it shipped 101m handsets (of all types) worldwide (a 38% share) and recently announced links with Intel to equip its 2008 models with WiFi and WiMAX chipsets. It is clear that Nokia has decided to strongly promote wireless LAN (WiFi) communications.

Therefore, in our view, the deal with Vyke coincides with a step-change in the momentum of WiFi distribution worldwide. BUY rating reaffirmed.

PapalPower, no doubt you're an expert :):) so question:

Do you think this 430p target is realistic... ?
And how long it is gonna take? I don't really like to buy something what is already going up, but with target 430p it seems to be still some potential out there....

PapalPower - 19 Oct 2007 01:04 - 32 of 130

fernandesb - I am no expert, that was the easy one to answer.

With regards to the 430p valuation, as with any stock, that target is after lots more progress. Target prices are also sentiment, and the stock market is sentiment.......good sentiment and anything is possible, bad sentiment and prices collapse down - regardless of progress or fundamentals.

I have been in from 90p levels, and so am happy to keep on holding with no worries.

I cannot say now whether this will go up more in the short term, or not - cannot help there.

All I can say is that a tech blue sky stock like VYKE needs good sentiment to rise - in a bear market these fall the fastest.

fernandesb - 19 Oct 2007 07:17 - 33 of 130

EU threatens

News that the EU may penalise mobile operators for data roaming fees (including text messages and music downloads) serves as a reminder of the huge pricing anomalies that exist between GSM-based mobile services and new technologies, such as WiFi. The Times reports that it is by means of such roaming charges that operators still hope to claw back the huge sums they paid out during the auction for 3G licenses.

Examples include Vodafone, charging for UK data 1.00/day compared to roaming (in France) at 5-8 day; Orange, similarly 1.50/day and 8.00 per Mb (one track takes up to 5Mb to download); or O2 at 7.50/month in the UK and for roaming 6.00/Mb. Roaming charges remain one of the most obvious pricing anomalies in the mobile phone charging structure and a further reminder of the clear pricing opportunity that exists for competitors using new access technologies such as WiFi and WiMAX. The EU has already forced up to 70% reductions in overseas call roaming charges.

There is a sense that mobile operators still feel owed some regulatory goodwill in return for their contributions via highly-priced 3G licenses in countries such as the UK (total 22.1bn paid) and Germany in 2001. But the roaming pricing structure serves as a further reminder that 3G demand has not boomed and has therefore not enabled pricing cuts that would have eliminated the need for such high charges.

Ends discussions on potential acquisition. No impact on operations.

Vyke has announced that it has decided not to proceed with the potential acquisition, flagged on 19 September 2007, of a US-based VoIP network service provider.

The company cited the outcome of the due diligence process, saying that "the target company did not meet Vyke's acquisition criteria", and adding that it "will maintain its current strategy of continued strong organic growth with carefully chosen acquisitions, which meet its criteria pertaining to geographical reach and quality of service".

In our view the key is service quality, specifically the level of termination agreement which we assume did not, under scrutiny, match Vyke's standards.

The quality of Vyke's network, and notably the reliability of its IP termination agreements, is an important differentiator and vital platform for its planned expansion. Although this potential acquisition failed to meet Vyke's criteria we expect the company to continue to look for similar opportunities.

VoIP on 3G will beat Wi-Fi

By Peter Judge, Techworld

Mobile VoIP is set to grow, but it will run over the 3G data provided by cellular handsets, rather than over Wi-Fi, according to a research report from Disruptive Analysis, which predicts 250 million users of 3G VoIP by 2012, compared with less than 100 million for voice on Wi-Fi.

"Yes, 250 million is a surprisingly big number," said Dean Bubley of Disruptive Analysis. "I did the sums and then had to triple-check my own model. The fundamental truth, he says, is that mobile networks are moving towards the cellular industry's LTE (or possibly Qualcomm's UMB or Wimax. which recently received ITU approval) and that will be all IP, so for operators "VoIP is mandatory."

VoIP will allow carriers to handle more calls on their scarce spectrum and backhaul, and reduce expenses by handling all traffic as data. It will also let them offer new services such as push-to-talk and voice-integrated "mashups", says Bubley, in his report, VoIPo3G Business Models.

VoIP on 3G also fits the move to femtocells, which use the subscribers' broadband service to increase coverage in the home, since the digitised voice is ready to be handled by the femto's broadband backhaul.

However, because new radio technologies are not yet widespread, we can look forward to a few more years of the current confusion while third party providers such as Truphone and EQO (and many others) offer mobile VoIP using Wi-Fi services or the user's data plan. "Some independent VoIP players are already exploiting the fact that today's 3G networks can already support VoIP, putting dedicated software on smartphones, exploiting open operating systems, flat-rate data plans and features like 'naked SIP' and built-in VoIP capability," said Bubley.

The rise of mobile data in laptops, either as built in modems or data cards will also contribute to the growth of VoIP on 3G, as this service often competes with home broadband, and users expect to be able to use familiar applications such as Skype or other telephony software. "Some operators are even offering their own VoIP software for PCs with wireless broadband," said Bubley.

"By 2012, most VoIPo3G users will be using mobile carriers' own standards-based VoIP capabilities, over the new, advanced 3G+ networks," said Bubley. Only 60 million of them will still be on the independent operators' offerings. "The key thing to think about is that for many users, VoIP will be invisible."

And there will still be more to go, because 250 million will only be about ten percent of mobile phone users, and 20 percent of 3G+ users.

('the Company')

Statement re Share Price

Vyke Communications plc, the AIM listed Voice over Internet Protocol service

confirms that the Board is not aware of any reason for this movement.

The Board continues to be encouraged with trading in the Company and as planned will provide a full quarterly update on trading on Monday 26 November.

Vyke's Q3 results out today (PapalPower would be posting this I'm sure, but I reckon he's in a different time zone currently):

3rd Quarter trading update shows substantial continued growth

Vyke is pleased to announce that it has continued its extended period of strong
growth through the 3rd Quarter ending 30 September 2007.

The total number of paid customer accounts of the Vyke product suite increased
to 1,012,030; 45.6% above the 694,884 paid customer accounts present at the
close of the 2nd Quarter of the current year and representing an average
acquisition rate of 3,523 paid customer accounts per day. The total number of
calls placed via the Vyke product suite grew by 15.3% over the 14 million calls
processed during the 2nd quarter. The number of paid customer accounts in the
3rd Quarter of the current year also represents an increase of 528.3% over the
3rd Quarter of 2006 and, at 16.19 million processed calls, a growth of 511% in
the number of calls placed via the Vyke product suite over the same period.

Tommy Jensen, Executive Chairman of Vyke, commented:
'I am very pleased that this trading update again demonstrates Vyke's ability to
sustain continued growth over time. In line with Vyke's stated strategy, we are
continuing to migrate our revenue base towards the Vyke suite of IP-enabled
services, which now accounts for 67.8% of Vyke's total retail billing.
Additionally, I am encouraged by the growth in retail billing in relation to the
total number of processed calls as it shows that Vyke's service offering is
successfully addressing higher revenue calling patterns, where our value
proposition offers its greatest benefits. With the launch of our mobile VoIP
service from any The Cloud hotspot and our accompanying marketing efforts, I am
looking forward to a strong end of year.'

sp moving up nicely this morning - all L2 blue at 150-155p.

PapalPower - 26 Nov 2007 08:23 - 58 of 130

Nice updates.

Toya - 28 Nov 2007 09:59 - 59 of 130

The sp quickly reverted on the 26th and I must confess I jumped off to sell at 150.6p. Today, however, it seems to be bouncing off the support at 120p (see above graph) and the sp is currently up by 2.53% to 120-123. I bought back in this morning below 120p.

This is basically a good company (that's my belief at any rate) but the price does shift about somewhat. They are currently looking at another acquisition, which should boost the price if it happens; timetable according to their RNS of 26Nov is by end this year:

"Vyke is pleased to announce that, on 23 November 2007, it entered into a letter
of intent to acquire 100% of the outstanding share capital of a UK-based retail
Voice over Internet Protocol ('VoIP') service provider (the 'Target'). The
acquisition is subject to due diligence and the final approval of the Board of
Vyke. The acquisition is scheduled to be completed before the end of this year."

PapalPower would be able to give you a more erudite analysis but I don't know where in the world he is!

PapalPower - 28 Nov 2007 11:52 - 60 of 130

I am around, but in the current market climate I am spending a lot more time doing other things and not watching shares so much.

Your analysis is fine, with VYKE being presently a "jam tomorrow" type share, it is going to suffer hard in poor market sentiment, and fly like a bird in good sentiment, and thats why it is where it is now.

Toya - 28 Nov 2007 11:58 - 61 of 130

Thanks PP - makes sense.

BAYLIS - 03 Dec 2007 14:19 - 62 of 130

Toya - 03 Dec 2007 14:24 - 63 of 130

Oh dear, not looking good currently - glad I got out again (tend to watch this one v closely since it turned at the top!). I suppose it could drop as far as 100p before it bounces back?

Don't forget though - they are currently negotiating another acquisition, which should perk them up again.

Anyway, good luck Baylis.

cynic - 03 Dec 2007 14:32 - 64 of 130

an acquisition does not necessarily do anything positive for sp!

Toya - 03 Dec 2007 14:38 - 65 of 130

That's true, of course, but the sp has continued to fall below the 170p mark on the news (12Nov) that a possible acquisition in the US had fallen through because the company 'did not fulfil their criteria'. I think in this instance, VYKE are looking to enhance revenue growth through strategic acquisitions - unless I have misread their statements.

Toya - 03 Dec 2007 14:40 - 66 of 130

Here's the exact word from the RNS of 12Nov, just for info:
"The Company will maintain its current strategy of continued strong organic
growth with carefully chosen acquisitions, which meet its criteria pertaining to
geographical reach and quality of service."

fernandesb - 03 Dec 2007 16:17 - 67 of 130

I'm sure it is a bright future here, but like you said Toya, question is where is the point to bounce back- 100p or even less??

Toya - 03 Dec 2007 16:25 - 68 of 130

Hi Fernandesb - reason I thought 100p was that that was a 'resistance' level on the way up (in August or thereabouts). Could form the new support? - but what do I know! We'll see...

cynic - 03 Dec 2007 16:39 - 69 of 130

you won't like the chart much i'm afraid ..... 100 may provide a support, but only because it is a round number ...... 60 has more logic insofar as it is 200 dma ...... however (as Peter has commented) this is a minnow with a short history so the charts are even less meaningful than usual.

Statement re Share Price

Vyke Communications plc, the AIM listed Voice over Internet Protocol service

The Company continues to be encouraged with current trading and with the rollout

figures were ahead of expectations so cant fault the company. Clearly problem with a hedge fund who probably took up too many in the placing and appear desperate to raise cash and therefore selling at any opportunity. Similar situation to Lead a year ago. Will be a great opportunity at some point but depends how desperate the fund is to raise cash. The placing was surprising for the price paid and the number of shares they got away. Does mean a major overhang if the holders want out however.

The article outlined discounts the service potentially offers users on international and domestic calls, compared to traditional services, and its growing customer base. This from another BB...

Mail on Sunday ..............

Phone customers flock to Vyke

Using a mobile phone to make overseas calls can be horrendous. A couple of quick conversations and a few texts may seem like nothing, but the bill tends to be jaw-droppingly expensive.

Which may be why Vyke is gaining 3,000 new customers a day and now has more than 1.3m regular users. It has found a way to offer cheap international calls from a mobile or a computer.

The calls are made using the internet and they cost between 66% and 95% less than ordinary mobile calls. Customers make about 12m calls a day.

Vyke floated two years ago and has acquired a loyal fan club of institutional investors. Reassuringly, too, chief executive Tommy Jensen owns just over 3% of the company so he is deeply committed to its success.

City analysts expect Vyke to have 10m customers by 2012 and it is about to embark on a big marketing push in the UK.

So far, customers have been concentrated on the Continent and the Middle East, but British mobile phone users are likely to find Vyke's offer compelling.

The service can be operated from most new mobiles and is particularly cheap where there is wireless internet access. Vyke has been loss-making to date, but it is likely to become profitable this year. Brokers expect it will ultimately be bought by a big phone group.

Midas verdict: Vyke operates in a fast-growing market and offers a service with wide appeal. Stock market turmoil has sent the shares down from more than 200p in November to just 83p today. This seems short-sighted. Buy.

1Q07 customer numbers at 1.74m, ahead of our outlook

Vyke reported 1.743m customers* at March 31st 2008, 34% above the 1.303m registered at the end of 2007 (+226% YoY), implying a daily acquisition rate of 4,832. This run-rate is ahead of that required to meet our June 2008 target of 2.060m customers; indeed at a level we would not have expected until June 2009. (*A customer is defined as having topped-up the web-based account in the given quarter).

Call volume was particularly strong, at 8.5m minutes per week, compared to 4.15m/week in the previous quarter. Vyke registered 28.9m minutes of Vyke IP product calls in the quarter, up 55.6% on the 18.6m mins of 4Q07 (+129% YoY).
As a result (net) IP-based revenue at $15.1m was 51% above 4Q07 levels ($9.98m) indicating that customers are actively using their Vyke mobile IP accounts.

Overall, these three key metrics ~ IP customer numbers, call volume, and call value ~ all point towards strong growth momentum, indeed at a rate which is currently ahead of levels required to meet our FY08 expectations. Our valuation, based on Vyke reaching 7.0m IP accounts by 2010, remains 500p. Buy.

When will VYKE become profit making?

dealerdear - 24 Apr 2008 09:16 - 110 of 130

Sounds sensible but not really an answer.

If you took out all the loss making companies out of the stock market, there wouldn't be a great deal left, particularly Aim and small cap.

This IMO will rocket but not until the market conditions improve.
Let's just hope nothing goes amiss with the cy until then.

halifax - 24 Apr 2008 09:23 - 111 of 130

If a company is proprely managed the directors should be able to estimate at least next years earnings and overheads and thus produce a profit/loss forecast. Too many smaller companies are afraid to do this in case it affects the sp. and as a result impact on the value of directors share options.

dealerdear - 24 Apr 2008 09:29 - 112 of 130

I don't disagree but think it's more to do with keeping their jobs.

As somebody that trades the market, the point I'm making is the stock market will not value the sp of all these cy's as 0p so assuming they stay listed they remain tradable.

about 45% paper loss in my case!

Don't want to speak too soon but...it looks as though we may have bottomed out sp is beginning to rise ?

Unless the market crashes again and this goes with it every time.

Nothing like being positive!

Their final results for the year ended 31/12/07 will probably show a loss but hopefully the company may be currently trading profitably.

FYI....

The Independent today (23/06/08) included an article on VYKE Communications (VYKE), which provided an overview of the business and reported that broker Charles Stanley says the price will reach 200p. Results are due tomorrow and the piece concluded, tomorrows numbers should look good, helping Vyke to cement its already strong institutional following. The shares were 71.00p during Monday mornings trading, showing no change.

Grim news indeed..bigger t/o translated into bigger losses.....SP being hammered because of this...the jam tomorrow stuf has got to be translated into big net profits and PDQ at that!

Still going to hold but it's not one of my better investments...but then again what has been lately!

BTW the latest B Note from DS says 49p target short term & 249p med/long

dealerdear - 25 Sep 2008 13:09 - 125 of 130

I agree. Was well p***ed off when I saw the results. Shocking and a very poor reflection on the board. Very surprised it opened flat, could have got out and taken a hit but I guess I'm in for the long haul wherever it may take us.

VYKE down 43% - oh dear, why do "punters" play into MM's games?

This business just can't be worth the current valuation, er, IMHO.
A year ago posters (here), were being seduced by reports in the press of 2. (DYOR), - yet now, it's nearly a tenth of that.
Don't believe what you read!!!
EDIT-(30/6/2010)-down 25% today, after agm....Yikes... do folk really want VOIP on their mobile - er, would you?

dealerdear - 28 Sep 2009 19:49 - 127 of 130

I wasn't being seduced (not by Vyke anyway!)

Was just trying to trade 18mnths ago and it went horribly wrong. A fight for survival I would think although it mystifies me why the CEO and the rest of the board are still there.

DD .... i sympathise; it really is so very difficult to make oneself bite the bullet when sp misbehaves .... had i followed my own advice, would have dumped PXS at a modest profit instead of a nasty loss

marni - 29 Sep 2009 02:14 - 129 of 130

oh dear, poor old dealer, lol.......in for long haul and share collapsed next trading day....couldnt happen to a nicer guy

cynic - 29 Sep 2009 08:23 - 130 of 130

you need to work at your sincerity, but i guess you feel that is a superfluous virtue ..... actually, and not unusually, you didn't get the story about my investment in PXS quite right, but no matter
