This week the Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee meets with analysts split
on what the likely outcome will be. Whilst the majority think the status quo will be
maintained, a growing number seem to think a reduction in repo rate could be on
the cards.
Tesco will be eyed this week with expectations of a reduction in growth rate,
hampered by the poor summer and biting credit restrictions. An update on the
American dream may also be forthcoming as the countdown begins.
The Northern Rock story will rumble on, as more detail emerges about the extent
of the problems there - and the length of time "those in the know" knew something
was amiss.
So, another busy week in prospect.........

Cantor Index has launched a market for stocks that have been suspended on the London Stock Exchange, allowing punters to hedge against a dramatic fall in value when things go unexpectedly wrong. Users will be able to bet on where the shares will close on their first full day of trading when they return to the market. If they do not return to market the share price will be taken as zero.

Good morning traders!
In Japan today, the Nikkei ended the morning up 65.66 points at 16,851.35. The
Hong Kong market is closed for a public holiday.
Crude oil for November delivery eased as much as 7 cents a barrel to $81.59 in
Asian business hours. The front-month energy contract fell $1.22 in New York
trading Friday, capping an 11.4% gain for September.
