share trader - 13 Nov 2007 00:17

Range Resources (AIM:RRL)

Range Resources is an exploration company with its principal activity directed towards finding and delineating natural resources in the oil, gas and mineral sectors in Puntland, Somalia. Puntland is believed to have all the geological requirements to become a commercial oil-producing region. Range has two Production Sharing Agreements (PSAs) for the Nogal and Darin Blocks, two particularly promising basins.

Undiscovered oil-in-place resources in the Nogal block are estimated at net 860mmbbl. A successful project in this Near Shore zone would mean that new reserves could be rapidly placed on production, largely from shore based facilities.

Fox-Davies Capital recently initiated coverage with a price target of 50p.

13 October 2009

DRILLING UPDATE - SMITH #1 WELL, TEXAS

Update by Australian based oil and gas explorer Range Resources Limited (ASX:
RRS; AIM: RRL) ("Range" or "the Company") on its exploration drilling program
in the North Chapman Ranch area, Texas.

Smith #1 well, North Chapman Ranch

The exploration well Smith #1 spudded on 4 September 2009. Surface casing was
set and cemented at 1,528 ft (465m) and the well was subsequently drilled to
the intermediate casing depth of 11,352 ft (3,455m). Open hole logs were
acquired on October 9, 2009, and 9 5/8" casing set and cemented shortly
thereafter. The well is currently being prepared for drilling to the proposed
total depth of ~14,200' (4,329m).

Name of well Smith #1

Spud date 4 September 2009

Current depth ~11,334 ft (3,456m)

Proposed total depth ~14,200 ft (4,329m)

RRS beneficial 25%
interest

Figure 1: Unit Texas Rig #35 drilling ahead on Smith #1 well - please see website.

Background on North Chapman Ranch

Range holds a 25% working interest in the drilling of Smith #1 well. The well
shall be drilled to an approximate depth of 14,200 ft (4,329m) or to a depth
sufficient to test the Howell Hight formation. If successful, the Smith #1 well
could trigger significant oil and gas production and development drilling with
very attractive economics, at a time when exploration and development costs in
the US have dropped dramatically.

Range will continue to update the market on a weekly basis during its
exploration drilling program.

Investecs energy duo take aggressive weighting in US gas
By John Kenchington

Investec Asset Managements energy duo Mark Lacey and Jonathan Waghorn have adopted an aggressive weighting in US gas as they expect it to outperform oil in the next few years.
The former Goldman Sachs traders see upside of as much as 90 per cent in some of the gas stocks in their Luxembourg-based Investec Global Energy fund, as current gas prices are unsustainably low.

Mr Lacey says: We expect global gas consumption to grow at a higher rate than oil consumption over the next 10 years. Global gas consumption growth rates have been almost three times that of oil over the last 10 years.

The managers are targeting stocks such as Range Resources, the Australian small-cap oil and gas explorer, which they believe looks cheap.

RRL seem to have a lot of "option" shares attached to them ?
is this a pay off for some local corrupt Minister or President.
What is the name of the beneficiary ? Shareholders should ask !

It is good if one can get a guaranteed upside and no downside -
options and warrants - watch out,
directors love to get their hands on them as well as a good salary.
Odd thing is, one can usually not buy them in the market

It is called " we don't care about our regular shareholder mugs"
lets grab what we can
I thought Somalia had no operative Gov. only pirates ?

RRL is definately not for me - what are you thinking ?

Bevly update:
TEXAS UPDATE - RUSSELL BEVLY COMMENCES PRODUCTION

Range Resources Limited ("Range" or "the Company") would like to announce that
production and sales have commenced from the Company's second well at North
Chapman Ranch, the Russell Bevly Unit #1. Less than seven weeks after
production casing was set in the well and the drilling rig released, the
Russell Bevly was turned to sales at approximately 1,000 Mcf of natural gas and
90 bbl of oil per day with approximately 8,000 psi flowing tubing pressure on a
6/64" choke from just one of four identified pay zones. The first zone placed
in production represents just 11 ft. of perforated Howell Hight formation
within total net pay thickness of approximately 130 feet.

It is anticipated that, similar to the Company's first well (Smith #1), the
well will flow naturally for a number of months before it is shut in and a
completion rig moved into place. Once the completion rig is in place, the well
will be fracture stimulated and additional pay zones added to boost rate.
Hydraulically fracturing the reservoirs creates additional permeability paths
from the reservoir to the well bore, increasing production rates from the
various pay zones, which in turn accelerates payout while improving reserve
recovery and overall economics.

The Company will continue to provide further updates on the progress of its
portfolio of assets.

rekirkham - 02 Sep 2010 09:48 - 67 of 109

It appears to me that Range Resources are primarily exploring in the USA.
It seems they only have a small interest in Puntland Somalia.
Here is something I read on the Toronto Venture Exchange about another Company.

"The way that I see it is that there will be no drilling in Puntland until there is a period of calm there. Sure the Puntland Government is the most stable in the country, but relative to what.

Problems, problems problems here. Originally there was no interest in Kenya or Ethiopia or not substantialy anyway. It was only when Somaila heated up too much for AOI and anyone else for that matter that Kenya and Ethiopia got some action.

There may be a lot of oil in Puntland and probably there is a lot of oil there, but w/o some semblance of security, there is a distinct problem.

For my bet, the Ethiopia play looks better, but even there, there is problems b/c the Somalis in the Ogaden region of Ethiopia can and have caused problems, most notably, they killed some Chinese oilfield personnel a few years ago on a rig. It will take a master deal maker for Africa Oil to get enough time to produce oil in that region.

The Lundins are very good at what they do, but Somalia is the real test of fire for them"

Invest by all means , but it is mainly USA Southern States based I understand.

Any comments

A very good day indeed, but the shares were hold back this afternoon, a bit of manipulation on the order book

Let say the volume was 14.5M buys for 13.50M sells when the price was 6.55 / 6.70p

and later at the end the volume was 25.6M buys and 19.6m sell and price 6.40 / 6.52p

I know the was delayed trades and "AT" at the wrong place, but I could see how some trades at bid side were withdrawn for no reason, but to make the bid side weaker, my conclution.

a huge volume at the end so more rise to come

Range Resources LTD
Georgian Seismic Review Results

18 November 2010

GEORGIAN ESTIMATE OF PROSPECTIVE GROSS OIL-IN-PLACE OF 2 BILLION BARRELS

Highlights:

* 68 individual structures, each containing stacked reservoirs, have been
indentified across Range's two Georgian Block's VIa and VIb;

* Independent best estimate of gross undiscovered and unrisked oil-in-place
across these identified prospects of 2.05 billion barrels (1.025b barrels
attributable to Range); and

* Six ready to drill targets identified with gross oil-in-place of 728m
barrels (Range 50% plus cost recovery).

Range Resources Limited ("Range" or "the Company") is pleased to announce the
initial results from the draft report entitled Seismic Interpretation, Field
Mapping and Evaluation of Prospective Hydrocarbon Volumes across the Company's
two Georgian blocks (Block VIa and Block VIb) completed by leading
International Oil and Gas Seismic Consultancy firm RPS Energy ("RPS").

RPS has identified a total of 68 structural culminations across the two blocks
(refer to figure 1) each of which potentially contains stacked reservoirs.
Total combined best estimate of gross unrisked oil-in-place across these 68
indentified structural culminations amounts to 2,045 million barrels. Recovery
factors for oil in place can be conservatively estimated at 30%.

Figure 1 - Prospects and Leads across Block V1a and Block VIb - please refer to
website.

Of the 68 identified prospective targets across the two blocks, 6 structures
have been prioritised as being ready for drilling. Of these 6 structures, total
gross unrisked oil-in-place has been estimated at 728 million barrels (364
million barrels attributable to Range).

A breakdown of the gross unrisked oil-in-place for these 6 `ready to drill'
prospects are as follows:

Prospect Unrisked Oil-in-Place (gross
100% basis)

Kursebi 1 (K1) 123 million barrels

Kursebi 2 (K2) 160 million barrels

Kursebi 3 (K3) 42 million barrels

Vani 1 (V1) 171 million barrels

Vani 2 (V2) 89 million barrels

Vani 3 (V3) 145 million barrels

TOTAL 728 million barrels

Figure 2 highlights a number of the prospective targets across the two blocks,
including the 6 prioritised prospects identified above.

Exploration and Production History

Oil seeps are widespread in Georgia, with exploration in the country having
commenced during the 19th century, by exploitation of the surface seeps and
shallow drilling beneath them. The first substantive discovery, the Supsa Field
near the Black Sea, was made in 1889 and still produces small amounts of oil
today.

Georgia is a reasonably well established hydrocarbon producing province with a
number of discoveries and seeps along the Greater Caucasus and Achara-Trialet
frontal folds, which are present along the northern and southern margins of the
two licenses, where there are numerous oil and gas seeps.

There have been a number small to medium discoveries to date, with the largest
being the Samgori field, which was discovered in 1974 and has produced more
than 165mmbbls to date, with an estimated 200mmbls of recoverable reserves. The
trend of oil discoveries in Georgia confirms the presence of a working
hydrocarbon system that extends from Georgia into the Black Sea.

Mobilisation / Drilling Scheduling

Range and Strait (its joint venture partner in the Georgian Blocks) are
finalising the mobilisation and drilling program and will update in due course.
