and if it falls back to 0.075p, then what?
while i accept and indeed applaud the fact that at long last UK supermarkets will refuse to dole out zillions of free plastic bags, is there actually any solid news that will extract SEO from the deepest mire where it has been rolling ever since i joined this site?

This share seems unloved on this bb at the moment and I have held shares for a couple of years and forgot all about them and basically written them off. But since the change of managment a couple of years ago I have taken another look.

Its starting to look like theres a chance to make some money here and I have added and hoping to see 1.2p maybe 1.6p. We will never see the 23p+ of 2005 due to the delution of the shares and at that time it valued the company at 300M.

Stanelco boss optimistic about future growth

Jill Park, packagingnews.co.uk, 27 February 2009

Bioplastics specialist Stanelco is predicting "good growth" in the sector as it enters a period of stability with a new management team.

Paul Mines exclusively told Packaging News that he did not expect "an explosion" in the bioplastics market, but rather "good growth" in markets where there can be "real benefits" of using bioplastics.

Mines identified multi-layer flexible films for food preservation and extrusion coatings for paper and card as Stanelco's two main growth markets.

However, he was realistic about the uptake of bioplastics by the supermarkets, admitting that they are still at the "toe in the water" stage where they use bioplastics for specific products.

Mines recognised the end of life issue as a major concern for the UK market as only a small percentage of councils have means to dispose of biopolymers at present.

Consequently, he was keen to highlight new legislation that would mean councils will be forced to provide anaerobic digestion facilities by 2010, thus providing the much-desired outlet for bioplastics.

He also addressed the issue of availability of raw materials when he said that the company has reduced its dependence on one single raw material.

"As volumes are increasing, a lot of customers are looking for forward price certainty," he added.

Chairman John Standen joined Stanelco at the same time as Mines in 2007, following the departure of Martin Wagner in April 2007.

Paul Law and Neil Martin have been appointed as managing director of the Bioplastics division and general manager of the Radio Frequency division respectively.

Financial director Sue Bygrave joined the team in January, completing the new management structure.

A US sales office was established in 2008 and in the past three months material has started being exported to China to be converted into products destined for the European market.

Going forward, "functional product improvement" is the company's main focus said Mines, followed by "working with customers to take that into the market".

Also, the company can now offer a bioplastic capable of withstanding up to 95 degrees centigrade, which opens up new market opportunities and a company is already in the final stages of commercial development of a pack made from the material.

Stanelco will publish its preliminary results on 26 March 2009.

Interim Management Statement

Stanelco plc, which is holding its 2009 Annual General Meeting at 10.30am today, issues its interim management statement for the period from 1 January 2009 to 23 April 2009, as required by the UK Listing Authority's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.

The 2009 financial year has started well and trading during the first quarter to 31 March 2009 was in line with the Board's expectations.

In the quarter the Group achieved double digit revenue growth in sales of bioplastics made directly by the Company. The Group also achieved double digit growth in its RF Applications division as we continued to broaden our RF product offering.

A slightly slower start to the year led to third party sales from our joint venture, Biotec, being 2% down in the quarter compared with the same period last year. However by the end of the quarter sales had returned to previous levels and are now showing an upward trend.

Overall, Group revenues increased in the quarter to 3.5m (Q1 2008: 3.4m).

We continue to work closely with our customer base in the BioPlastics division, carefully developing products that will meet their specific requirements and will, in time, be suitable for volume commercialisation. The wide experience of the technical team we have put in place and the close support of the pilot facility in Southampton are proving invaluable in this respect.

In the RF Applications division, where our main focus has been on widening our product range, we have received a number of orders in the quarter for products introduced last year for the induction heating market and continue to see significant interest in our range of furnaces, particularly from customers in the Far East.

The Board's focus for this year continues to be on cash control and generating profitability from our operations. At 31 March 2009 we had cash of 5.5m and we continue to consider sensible investment opportunities to accelerate our growth.

Bioplastics has added more than 40 new customers in 2009 and widened the set of end-use applications by a further 17.

The RF Applications order pipeline continues to strengthen with a particular emphasis on India and China. A new sales consultant has been appointed for the Indian market.

Rebranded its bioplastics business today as Biome Bioplastics ltd

Fred1new - 25 Jan 2010 12:37 - 49 of 49

Let us hope the content is true.

Stanelco rebrands bioplastics division
Business Financial Newswire
Stanelco has rebranded its bioplastics business as Biome Bioplastics.

The division makes and sells plastics from renewable resources that biodegrade. Biome is a scientific term used to describe ecosystems.

CEO Paul Mines said, 'Stanelco's bioplastics business has continued to achieve high levels of growth through the last two years, so it is appropriate at this time that it becomes described by a name that reflects its activities so well.'

Recently the division has supplied materials for use in packaging, waste disposal, paper products, personal care, horticulture and electronics.
