Dominion is an independent energy company dedicated to exploration for new oil and gas reserves in East and Central Africa.
The Group was founded in 2004 and the strategy is to become the leading independent upstream exploration company in this region.
DPL intend to achieve this objective by using their experienced management team, their firm contacts and partners in East and
Central Africa and their excellent understanding of the geology of the region.
DPL are continuing to build on their strong acreage position in Tanzania and the Albertine Rift Basin (Uganda and Democratic
Republic of Congo) by adding new exploration opportunities in other emerging petroleum provinces in East and Central Africa.
The company currently has 57,356 square kilometers (14.17 Million acres) under license in Tanzania, Uganda and the Democratic
Republic of Congo (net to Dominions interest 53,573 square kilometers or 13.24 Million acres).

DJ Dominion Petroleum Starts Uganda Drilling In Coming Mos
LONDON (Dow Jones)--Dominion Petroleum Ltd (DPL.LN), an independent oil and gas exploration company operating in East and Central Africa., said Tuesday that the coming months are likely to be particularly exciting for our shareholders as it commences its drilling programme in Uganda.
MAIN FACTS:
-Exploration Area 4B (EA4B) in Uganda is located in south-western Uganda in the Lake Edward segment of the Albertine Rift Basin.
-The adjacent segment of the Rift Basin - Lake Albert - has been the site of several major oil discoveries in the last three years including those of Kingfisher, Warthog and Buffalo-Giraffe.
-In November 2008, Dominion completed the acquisition of 371 kilometers of 2D seismic data onshore and 130 kilometers on Lake Edward.
- In EA4B, Dominion has to date identified four prospects and 11 leads.
-The prospects are adequately defined by the existing seismic and may be considered ready for drilling.
-The leads require the acquisition of further seismic.
-The restructuring of the existing loan notes will make it easier for us to raise additional funds going forwards, to ensure the potential is realized.
-As part of fund-raising strategy, it has also initiated a farm-out process of EA4B.

LONDON -(Dow Jones)- Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) and Total SA (TOT) are in talks to enter Dominion Petroleum Ltd.'s (DPL.LN) acreage in Uganda, people familiar with the matter said this week, as the scramble for new African oil heats up.
Last week, Italy's Eni SpA (E) said it had agreed to buy stakes held by Heritage Oil PLC (HOIL.LN) in Uganda for $1.35 billion.
Subsequently, Heritage's partner Tullow Oil PLC (TLW.LN) said it may use its preemption rights to acquire Heritage's licenses. That would give Tullow 100% control of oil resources discovered in Uganda's Lake Albert region.
Dominion, which is registered in Bermuda but listed in London, owns 1.06 million acres of exploration prospects in Southern Uganda, making it the second-largest private oil acreage holder in the Eastern side of the Albertine Rift.
It also has rights on the other side of Lake Edward, in Congo, though the contracts have yet to be ratified.
Dominion mentions in a recent company presentation that independent auditors had in July of this year identified, through seismic and aerial surveys, 387 million barrels of oil of prospective resources in Uganda and a further 782 million barrels of potential upside.
Tullow, whose assets are located north of Dominion's blocks in Lake Albert, plans to sell part of its stakes in three Lake Albert license blocks to a company that can help fund development of the resources. Total of France and U.S. oil giant ExxonMobil are among 13 companies that have visited Tullow's data room, said one of the people.
Tullow expects to announce which company it will choose as a partner for its Ugandan oil fields in the first quarter next year.
Total and ExxonMobil are "looking at further upside in the area" by potentially acquiring a stake in Dominion, one person said. Eni has also approached Dominion, though the contacts are no longer ongoing, the person added.
The company Tullow picks as its new partner is likely to want to expand its acreage position within Uganda, said the other person.
Eni, Total, Dominion and ExxonMobil declined to comment on the talks.
However, a Dominion spokesman reiterated a company statement that said, it "has initiated a farm-out process... We have been encouraged by the strong interest shown from quality companies keen to join Dominion in the next phase of its growth."

Study : Dominion Tanzania Prospect Has 1B Bbl/Oil Potential-Source
LONDON (Dow Jones)--An independent assessment of the first prospect of Dominion Petroleum Ltd.'s (DPL.LN) Block 7 in Tanzania shows a prospective resource potential of one billion barrels of oil, or seven trillion cubic feet of natural gas, a person familiar with the matter said Sunday.
An independent geological report on the first prospect in the deepwater Block 7, which is 100% owned by Dominion, "has a mean prospective resource of 1.104 billion barrels of oil or 7.069 trillion cubic feet," the person said. The news comes amid renewed interest for the new East African frontier.
U.K.-based integrated gas company BG Group PLC (BG.LN) and U.S. major Exxon Mobil Corp. (XOM) recently acquired stakes in oil and gas exploration blocks offshore Tanzania.
Tanzania has seen little oil exploration, but contains a large section of the same East African Rift Valley where around 2 billion barrels of oil have been discovered in Uganda.
U.S. oil independent Anadarko Corp. (APC) also made a high quality deep water gas discovery in February in the section of the Ruvuma Basin that stretches into the waters of Mozambique.

Shooting of 200 line-km of 2D seismic on the Lotshi block in onshore western Congo (former Zaire) is to start in early July, said EnerGulf Resources Inc., Houston.
EnerGulf, block operator with 90% interest, said it has improved roads and cleared 40% of the planned lines on the 500 sq km block.
The company is also performing surface geologic studies and geochemical sampling of oil seeps in the eastern part of the block, whose eastern boundary is contiguous with a bitumen mining license.
Congo (former Zaire) issued a presidential decree as the final step in the award of Block 5 to SOCO Exploration Production DRC SPRL.
The SOCO-operated block is at the southern end of the Albert graben and includes part of Lake Edward. The partnership committed to shoot at least 300 line-km of seismic and drill two exploratory wells.
The Block 5 partnership consists of SOCO 38.25%, Dominion Petroleum Congo SPRL 46.75%, and state Congolaise des Hydrocarbures (Cohydro) 15%.

Shares in Dominion Petroleum took a big on Wednesday, slumping almost 40 per cent to 3.39 pence, as the market reacted to news that the Ngaji-1 well in Uganda was a duster. The well, the first ever in the Lake Edward Graben, was drilled to 1,765 metres and failed to find any significant hydrocarbons, although a full suite of logging, coring and a vertical seismic profile will be acquired to help build the knowledge base of this, until now, virgin basin.
This is a setback for the AIM company, knocking confidence in its Uganda position, particularly as Ngaji (or Silverback) was selected as the maiden well because it was deemed the best location to test the geology of the basin. Uganda has become something of a City favourite following Tullow Oils successes in the Lake Albertine Graben to the north, where the resource estimates run into the billions of barrels, but dud wells by Tower Resources and now Dominion Petroleum may lead some investors to believe that Tullow (and its forerunners Heritage Oil and Hardman Resources) has a monopoly on the hydrocarbon-bearing rocks in this country.
Yet this is still much to play for here. Dominion, which is well funded following a US$50 million equity funding in March, has a strong acreage position in the Lake Edward Graben, straddling both Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, so one dud well does not write off the entire basin. Whats more, as chief executive Andrew Cochran pointed out, the geology observed in the well demonstrated key elements of a prospective basin which had otherwise been fundamental risks in the Lake Edward Graben. The company now plans to acquire 2D seismic later this year ahead of further drilling in 2011; indeed, the Ngaji-1 well may well be suspended and used as the base for possible deviated drilled under Lake Edward next year to test a down-dip lead.
For many investors, however, the real interest in the Dominion portfolio lies to the south, off the coast of Tanzania. This is part of the East Africa Margin, an area that has attracted increased industry investment in recent years, a spend that seemed to be justified after earlier this year Anadarko Petroleum made a serious gas discovery in the deepwaters off Mozambique. This find, Windjammer, was important because it demonstrated the presence of source rock capable of generating significant volumes of hydrocarbons in this region, which, until this well, was the predominant risk associated with the offshore East African Margin.
Dominion holds 100 per cent of Block 7 in the deepwaters off Tanzania, where a recent CPR attributed the Alpha prospect a mean prospective resource of over 1.1 billion barrels of oil or more than 7 tcf of gas. Admittedly, this is high risk deepwater drilling (about 4,000 feet down), with Energy Resource Consultants giving the prospect a 12 per cent chance of success with a net risked mean resource of 134 million barrels of 848 billion cubic feet of gas.
A 1,000 sq km 3D seismic survey is expected to start shooting shortly, and should take 60 days to acquire. This will provide further data on Alpha and the other prospects and leads already identified on existing 2D seismic. This is mouth-water stuff: according to Cochran, a former exploration advisor at Anadarko, Alpha is not unique nor even the largest prospect so far identified in Block 7. This is an excellent start and it demonstrates the 'world class' nature of Block 7 in terms of hydrocarbon potential, said Cochran. Once armed with the upcoming 3D we will carry out additional technical analyses and update the full prospect and lead inventory accordingly."
The company also has a 10 per cent interest in the Mandawa PSA onshore Tanzania. Here the Kianika-1 well spudded last month, some 200 km south of the capital Dar es Salaam, to target a 264 bcf gas prospect with a 9 per cent chance of success. The first well here, drilled in early 2009, was P&A after it was found to be water-bearing, and Dominion subsequently farmed-down to Maurel & Prom to reduce its equity to the current level.
After the disappointment of the first Ugandan well, the Dominion Petroleum story looks to increasingly be a deepwater Tanzania story although time, and further seismic and drilling, may yet prompt a re-examination of the prospectivity of the Lake Edward Graben acreage.

The piece from Shares Magazine ..............
'Dominion Petroleum, which, unlike Heritage, remains a
player in Uganda, has also come off sharply. Its shares have
fallen 40% in the wake of disappointing results from the
Ngaji-1 exploration well in the country. We think the group
has capacity to recover with interest likely to switch to its
100%-owned Block 7 in deep waters offshore Tanzania. The
38 million cap expects to commence a 1,000 square kilometre
3D seismic survey imminently and positive results could
help attract a partner to the project.
Shares says: Buy Heritage Oil at 321.4p, Dominion
Petroleum at 3.1p.'

cynners ,Post Lake Edward duster , Since July i have been automatically trading in high volume @ 3.2 or so and selling beteen 3.8 and 4.00 .(only interday candlestick charts with their long wicks really illustates the riduculous regularity of this pattern ) .. so good for a quick buck ...But should j/vs with Soco or Maurel et Prom prove positive the entire ballgame changes but with over 1.5 billion shares in the mix big returns will be surely minimal ..but until news is known it remains a bit like painting by numbers play .A bit of fun - but lucrative. l agree with RF ...lf you want some exposure on what is being dubbed the new" hydrocarbon highway", and more importantly, serious money COV with over 50 leads on East African shelf from Kenya to mozambique is one to watch with a keen eye - ...-well capitalized , well run. well supported by insts, and well liked among city wallahs coupled with interests in two recent 8-12 TCF strikes of gas with Anakardo as oppos makes it an attractive investment

Update on Kianika-1
Presentations at Canaccord Genuity and RBS Investor Conferences
Dominion announces that it has been advised by Maurel & Prom, operator of the Mandawa PSA in Tanzania (Dominion 10% working interest) that the Kianika-1 well has reached the planned depth of 3,040 m. The targeted carbonates of Mid Jurassic Mtumbei formation were found with good reservoir characteristics, which confirmed the rationale for investigating this play.
No hydrocarbon shows being encountered (possibly due to lack of effective lateral seal), the well has been plugged and abandoned.
Under a farm-out agreement with Maurel et Prom, Dominion's funding requirement in respect of the Kianika-1 well on the Mandawa licence was reduced from 100% to 20% of the drilling costs and to 10% of associated expenses. Dominion retains a 10% interest in all profits earned from the Mandawa licence.
The Kianika-1 well is the second and last commitment well of the Initial Exploration Phase. Maurel & Prom is further evaluating the well results to determine the way forward with this block.
Dominion participated in the annual "RBS Equities Oil Services and E&P Seminar 2010" this week in London and also the "2010 Canaccord Genuity Global Energy Conference" in Miami. A copy of the conference presentation will be made available on the Company's website later today. The presentation updates the Company's most recent activities focused on offshore Tanzania Block 7 and the Albertine rift straddling the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

bearing in mind that i don't know what true prospects this company may have, nor knowing the amount (relative to other holdings) you have invested here, my strong inclination would be (a) ..... if you are tempted to get back in, you'll have to ask Mr P where the bottom might be (sorry - assuredly is!), as he has told us he has unerring judgement in these things, and further, he will be able to tell with absolute certainty whether or not DPL has a good and profitable future!
gut feeling is that 3.50 may well be seen and that could/should provide support and thus a point from which a decent(?) bounce may be seen
