Very sorry to hear that maestro.if you offer something of a payment the magistrates are loathed to act in favour of the lender at this moment in timeI know this from a family friend that has acted for many such cases.dont give up on your property all the time there is hope! good luck!

maestro - 08 Oct 2008 10:25 - 5 of 288

too late its gone...i'm now living in my van ...my spread bets were the last throw of the dice..now they have been wiped out too...to think i could have been a millionaire if i hadnt sold QXL too early

My ex wife got my house. I heard she sold it and bought Nationwide stock last year so not all bad news.

HARRYCAT - 08 Oct 2008 11:41 - 9 of 288

Nationwide is a Building Society. How can anyone buy stock?
Or are you talking about the crash repair company?

Clubman3509 - 08 Oct 2008 12:52 - 10 of 288

Sorry I meant Northern Rock, my head is all over today

cynic - 09 Oct 2008 17:39 - 18 of 288

i cannot but feel sorry for anyone who has got himself into such a dire predicament, even though some of his prognostications were weird to say the least, and must explain much if he indeed followed them

Big Al - 09 Oct 2008 17:59 - 19 of 288

maestro

Nice one. Tabby got it hook, line and sinker.

cynic - 09 Oct 2008 18:14 - 20 of 288

i would not risk presuming maestro was talking crap in this instance, even if that is/was his well known style

Big Al - 09 Oct 2008 18:21 - 21 of 288

cynic

I can't imagine why anyone would post this up on a financial BB unless it was a wind-up.

mitzy - 09 Oct 2008 18:22 - 22 of 288

No worries most sites now provide WiFi connections for around 5 a day and hot showers and some have heated swimming pools so living in the van is prerable to living in a house and theres no council tax or water bills..

Enjoy yourself.

Maestro - I'm sorry to hear you've lost your house. Perhaps we can help. Do you remember where you last saw it? The first place I always look when I lose my keys or the TV remote is down the back of the sofa. Have you looked there?

1. They (the 'non-religious global elite') make debt out of thin air.
2. We convert that imaginary money into real wealth through labour.
3. They take the real wealth back from us in return for the imaginary money.

Result: They extract all the value from the world and we are left with nothing.

Capitalism: The most efficient way for the 'non-religious global elite' to buy the world on the backs of our labour.

martinl2 - 10 Oct 2008 13:08 - 44 of 288

Its all one big giant scam for the 'non-religious global elite' to extract the wealth from the world and we are there to extract that wealth for them via our labour. I wonder what will happen to all us 'useless eaters' once they own the entire planet?

Gausie - 10 Oct 2008 13:48 - 45 of 288

Hmmm - wonder if Maestro's house has been airlifted off somewhere very secret by a bunch of black helicopters in a 9/11 style zionist and capitalist conspiracy?

I point you all to the story last week of the Afghan single mother living in a 1.2 million houseand costing us 170.000 1 yearits a funny old World and no! that aint racist!

Was the house destroyed by a zero point energy device?

nordcaperen - 12 Oct 2008 06:42 - 63 of 288

Maestro - it is alleged if you get a Morrison's points card cover it with superglue and insert it into a banks cash machine it costs them around 1500 to repair it ! Now I wouldn't condone such actions, but I bet a lot of people feel a lot better when they have done it - the feeling off at least getting something for your unfair charges is somewhat appealing to some bank customers ! If a few thousand people were to carry out such actions they may even start looking at stopping charging these extortionate fines. Especially when banks now have 2 or 3 machines at one site,
I wouldn't know if its true personally - but makes you wonder, if people were to do this, would they come round to the fact the public are sick and tired of being ripped off by the banks :-))

tabasco - 12 Oct 2008 12:01 - 64 of 288

And of course nordcaperen Morrisons points card are one of the few cards not to have any of your details onWhat a naughty idea!cant believe anyone would take such dastardly actions.the Banks are so honest themselveshave you not seen all the top management queuing up on the television showing their faces and apologising for their minor oversights? let me see was it barc that were fighting to make this a 1-50 charge whatever the withdrawal? hhmmmmmmm?

scotinvestor - 12 Oct 2008 15:28 - 65 of 288

all the banks boards should be sacked and NEVER given a senior role again in any major company.
the CEO of all the failing banks should be hung drawn and quartered......preferably televised to ensure that i can see these actions have een carried out.......and it will have tv ratings so should ensure plenty of revenue for 1 night.

maddoctor - 12 Oct 2008 15:42 - 66 of 288

can,t say I agree with anything you say , but on the subject of the CEO,s of the major banks , I had hoped they each would have been hung from a lamppost outside one of their branches and left to rot

www.netcastdaily.com/broadcast/fsn2008-1011-2.mp3

listen to above link.......its scary.

ok, it talks about usa corruption......but uk has lot of corruption too esp in last decade with this globalisation.

guy says it will take MINIMUM OF 40 YEARS TO IMPROVE.
he says it will be WORSE THAN 1929 DEPRESSION.........AND THAT WORLD WAR 2 WAS REQUIRED TO IMPROVE THAT.

also naked short selling was bringing down the system similar to now like 1929......and that traders dont trus each other similar to inter-bank lending which is non-existent right now as there is NO money market.

WE NEED A MAJOR WAR RIGHT NOW!!!!

required field - 12 Oct 2008 18:26 - 70 of 288

We need strict banking policies and a situation where nor banks nor people should borrow or lend more that they can afford.....not a war.....that's no good for anybody and the last resort.....!

Guscavalier - 12 Oct 2008 18:40 - 71 of 288

That is the difference about today's world, it is not possible to have a major world war without total obliteration of the human race. Therefore we have many pocket wars with the major players pulling the strings instead. Your guess is as good as mine as to how it will all turn out. We are all totally in the dark with all the chicanery behind the scenes. So chin up and hope for the best.

scotinvestor - 12 Oct 2008 19:47 - 72 of 288

gus

if u listen to the link that i gave.........the guy has spoken to various authorities etc and says secc organisation is corrupt.......and that traders r suspicious where its all buys and no sells and yet prices go continually down.

he says civil unrest will come eventually as more than 10 trilion has left usa from organised criminals.

he says usa ir corrupt from all areas in society.

Big Al - 12 Oct 2008 22:57 - 73 of 288

scotinvestor - 13 Oct 2008 00:26 - 76 of 288

yes it does have relevance as its the big guys naked short selling.....plus corruption with traders etc and organisations.

so if maestro makes what is regarded as a good choice in a share, it might end up a disaster cos of this organised crime.

sympathies to maestro by the way........i hope things turn around for you.......shame certain so called humans cant even be sympathetic to your plight on this thread but then again i aint surprised.

I dont believe he is racisthe is certainly passionate with his viewsand is extremely annoyed at foreigners that enter this country for one purpose only!. get as much as they can for little or no returnand/or commit crime knowing our legal and prisons service cannot cope!I have said this many times on AM I like strangers exactly the samewhether British or Foreign until they give me a reason not to like themthats not racist! thats being normal.Scotty has said on more than one occasion he has known and worked well with many foreign citizensincluding Polish that have been genuine peoplethats not a racist attitudeI get annoyed when do-gooders want to come across like Mother Teresa as long as it does not effect themwhich of course in the long run it willI personally are more offended by the slippery public school boys that come on here and spout off sanctimonioushypocriticalself-righteousdrivel.and Bullshare if you want to know who they are.watch who answers this post!

scotty has shown himself to be a pretty offensive individual, and though this country allows freedom of speech, that inevitably comes with certain limitations and boundaries of decency which scotty frequently chose to transgress.

as i said before, scotty is an ass!

You could argue that the word 'P***' is simply an abbreviation of 'P***stani', in the same way that 'Brits' is used instead of 'British'.
The name of the country 'P***stan' of course literally means 'Land of the P***", so the word "P***' in itself can't be intrinsically racist can it?

Unbelievable, Tabatha. How can you condone the out and out racist comments of Scottie boy? I know I've said that before and it was beyond me how you defended him. If I was of an ethnic minority I'd have been totally offended by some of the comments he made. As for your implication his comments were "debateable", that is laughable. He was an complete racist scumbag and has no place on any forum, be it financial or otherwise.

To not condemn him is to condone racism, which is unacceptable in my view. Sorry.

oilyrag - 13 Oct 2008 14:40 - 103 of 288

Maestro, you couldn't possibly lose your house to banking crooks unless you failed in your obligation to make the mortgage repayments.

You were aware how much this costs you each month, and should make provision for it. If you were betting this money each month on spread bets, then your are a bigger prat than I thought.

You should only invest what you can afford to lose, that is not to say that anyone wants to lose, but it is a distinct possibility.

Some of the drivel that you have come out with in the past, leads me to conclude that this is a complete wind up, as I find it hard to believe that your house was only worth 60k. What was it a hovel or a shed?

What this thread does offer however, is the opportunity for posters to discuss their ways of investing and what they consider safe and why.

Personnally, I only invest in actual shares purchased from spare money that I hold. I do not borrow money to invest. I do not set any stop losses, as the markets are inclined to move the price to trigger these.

Yes I do make a loss from time to time, but I am in control of my own investments and can react accordingly to market movements either way. I tend to invest longer term and so am not usually bothered by sudden price movements, unless they are backed up by really bad news.

Big Al - 13 Oct 2008 14:59 - 104 of 288

Tabatha - read them already and don't need to revisit them thanks. You backed up his racist rantings on other threads as well. Simple.

There is absolutely no excuse for Scottie boy's comments whatsoever and you should comdemn them outright.

dealerdear - 13 Oct 2008 15:00 - 105 of 288

I for one come on these threads for informed debate and if peeps have nothing to add then they should be quiet. Tis interesting that as the market has turned ugly, more and more insults are being traded between posters.

Humour is a good medicine to sooth those market nerves.

I'd hope anyone reading scotinvestor's racist posts would be absolutely appalled by their content. Your comments to me when they first appeared some weeks ago was that they were in some way justifiable.

We should unequivocably fight all such comments. You have not done so. Indeed, you earlier suggested he should be re-instated. I nortice not one poster has seconded that request that I've seen and it makes me very happy to see there is no appetite to give him a third chance. Note, he had been warned and requested to desist. AM has always been a very tolerant BB, but has thankfully never put up with that kind of diatribe. None of us should accept it.

ptholden - 13 Oct 2008 16:18 - 111 of 288

Indeed Al, in full agreement with your views. Actually, I was more appalled at the the poster in question remarks re the Piper-Alpha tragedy and the manner in which he used that disaster in an attempt to wind you up, quite disgusting. I'm afraid Tabasco also excused that behaviour, which tells me everything I need to know about that particular specimen.

I know that Ian takes his responsibilities seriously and will act accordingly if there is a need to do so. I am also sure he is pissing himself laughing Tabasco at your hypocritical behaviour, as I for one have been the butt of your snide, insulting comments for some weeks now. Anyway, carry on, you're swiftly becoming the laughing stock of the BB, an adequate replacement for your bosom buddy, scotinvestor :-))))

Bullshare - 13 Oct 2008 16:20 - 112 of 288

tabasco; I am very happy to answer your question as to why we ban users who overstep the mark. Its very simple, we have a very good and easy to read code of conduct, people overstep it once, we warn and give them the benefit of the doubt, second time we zap them.

pth - I was also dismayed by the Piper thing, but it's not something people should get banned for and I certainly wouldn't complain about it however deeply it was aimed. Now that, I do consider free speech ........ unfortunately.

It simply shows them up for what they are and unfortuntely fitted perfectly with scotinvestor's rather strange outlook on the world. He seemed altogether very unhappy at anything and everything.

tabasco - 13 Oct 2008 17:25 - 122 of 288

How right this is
I know lots of Tory MPs and peers in receipt of the Tory whip who believe Powell was right on immigration, who know he was no racist and who believe the party's greatest sin was not to take him seriously. Are they all to be sent to outer darkness, too? Will it also be a crime to point out that most of the rest of the ideology of Powellism - about money, about Europe, about the viability of the United Kingdom, about the dangers of an internationally unrestrained America - holds water just as much as this speech does?

Why is this man considered so evil that to mention him approvingly is a career-ending step, just as if someone had praised the social policies of Hitler or Pol Pot? Could it be that the jerk of the knee, and the application of no intelligence whatever, is really the driving force behind the way the Conservative Party is now run? How stupid are they?

Read the speech. Make up your own mind about whether something that told the truth then, and that tells the truth now, should 40 years later be the subject of such hysteria

Overall what exactly has immigration done for the good of the country? Do newcomers come to give or simply to take? The saying goes if they're not the solution they must be the big problem. And how many of the governing body actually fought in the last war giving them the right to give away the country to the immigrants?Naomi Campbell called police white f**king honkeys, thats not a racist remark against white britsbecause there is no such thing! Are we Pommie bastardyes all in good fun!

Look what folk around the world think of usand as that famous humanitarian Dil said yesterdaydoes my face look bovvered and this is taking the piss out of the English only.

All Englishmen talk as if they've got a bushel of plums stuck in their throats, and then after swallowing them get constipated from the pips.
W. C. Fields, US film star, quoted in D. Waliechinsky, The 20th Century, 1995

From every Englishman emanates a kind of gas, the deadly choke-damp of boredom.
Heinrich Heine, German poet

A demon took a monkey to wife the result by the Grace of God was the English.
Indian saying

Pass a law to give every single whingeing bloody Pommie his fare home to England. Back to the smoke and the sun shining ten days a year and shit in the streets. Yer can have it.
Thomas Keneally, Australian writer, The Chant of Jimtnie Blacksmith, 1972

We know of no spectacle so ridiculous as the British public in one of its periodical fits of morality.
Thomas Babington Macaulay, British historian, in the Edinburgh Review, June 1831

The English, who eat their meat red and bloody, show the savagery that goes with
such food.
J. O. de la Mettrie, French philosopher
To learn English you must begin by thrusting the jaw forward, almost clenching the teeth, and practically immobilizing the lips. In this way the English produce the series of unpleasant little mews of which their language consists.
Jose Ortega y Gasset, Spanish essayist and philosopher

The English are ... perfidious and cunning, plotting the destruction of the lives of foreigners, so that even if they humbly bend the knee, they cannot be trusted.
Leo de Rozmital

An Englishman does everything on principle: he fights you on patriotic principles; he robs you on business principles; he enslaves you on imperial principles.
George Bernard Shaw, Irish playwright and critic, The Man of Destiny, 1898

The English public takes no interest in a work of art until it is told that the work in question is immoral.
Oscar Wilde

You could say immigration has given us more doctorsmore nursesmore social workersmore accountantsand so on.the above are more than likely the few that went through the channels in a correct and proper mannerand I thank them.
Let us now go to the others.how many are illegal?how many are unemployed?.how many are professional villains?how many are de-frauding benefits?.how many are working illegally and not paying tax?how many are driving legally?.how many are shoplifting?[my wife reckons 7/10 caught at M&S are foreign out of work]how many are claiming our National Health Service that are here illegally? how many are involved in mugging or drug crime?and so on.
Police chiefs have told the home secretary of the extra demands being placed on forces because of the arrival in Britain of hundreds of thousands of immigrants from eastern Europe.
Peter Fahy, chief constable of Cheshire, who co-authored the study, said: "Migration has had a significant impact on UK communities in past years
"The influx of eastern Europeans has created pressures on forces in some areas, including local rumour and misunderstandings fuelling tensions which police have had to be proactive in resolving, and leading to significant increases in spending on interpreters, which can also make investigations more complex."
It is estimated that up to one million people from countries new to the EU have moved to the UK over the past four years. Figures released by the Home Office this year showed 796,000 eastern European immigrants had applied to work in Britain since Poland and seven other countries joined the EU.

PapalPower - 14 Oct 2008 11:18 - 174 of 288

I think you are missing the point, the only reason immigration was allowed to go unchecked was that all these people needed somewhere to live, and this helped support the buy to let market.

The government knew it was all going to collapse, but allowing more and more immigrants in, illegal or not, allowed them to prolong the bubble a little longer.

When things turn bad, these migrant job seekers move to other countries, and so the lower support level for house prices falls.

It was all well known, but prolonging the good times was the desire, but the end game had to happen at some stage.

You are dealing with the impossible situation, in order to keep wages low you need cheap labour. Cheap labour does not come if they are paying through the nose for tax and mortgages. Therefore you have to import it, to stay competitive, and support the ridiculous house prices. Problem is, this means less and less jobs for the people paying mortgages. This means pressure is there to utilize more and more debt. The only way to support the system is to get massively in debt, and also get as many immigrants in as possible and keep house prices rising so people can borrow more.

It was all like a pyramid scheme, it had to collapse, and now it has.

The trouble is, it needs to collapse fully, but they are simply trying to collapse it a little, and then build it back up again, so its someone else's problem in the not too distant future.

This should be the concern today, its a major accident wanting to happen, and its not being allowed. So it will remain an accident waiting to happen, and that is what will kill sentiment, as everyone knows its going to happen. So what is the point of stopping it happening ? Only political, which is pathetic, but a sad fact of life.

hangon - 14 Oct 2008 11:53 - 181 of 288

PapalPower, surely the issue with immigration was that being unchecked we have a unknown criminal elements?. If people are unchecked they can adopt new identities and escape the law by changing again. These immigrants should have been given a "time-permit" so we could check on their progress at least for the next 5-years.
My impression ( but could be wrong) is that it went unchecked like there was a free-for-all. Quite a contrast to the long (airport) queues checking holidaymakers for nail-files, eh? No, I don't get the contrast...?
Any benefits to our housing-stock is unlikely to be the real reason, since many don't speak english. Sure the "Polish bricklayers" were welcome, bringing a strong work-ethic but we also permitted fruit-pickers who were sometimes "Traded" along with their women. No it really was/is a complete mess IMHO. - - - about the same mind-set that allowed NRK to lend-long and borrow short-time.
-Couldn't everyone see the slight flaw, if given the opportunity to say?

BTW good-call going to Cash - wish I'd had the gumption then, too.

cynic - 14 Oct 2008 11:58 - 182 of 288

this is the start of your total garbage assertion, from which you then continued to build - or dig is perhaps more apposite ..... the only reason immigration was allowed to go unchecked was that all these people needed somewhere to live, and this helped support the buy to let market. The government knew it was all going to collapse, but allowing more and more immigrants in, illegal or not, allowed them to prolong the bubble a little longer.

wether or not you went 100% liquid (don't entirely believe you - e.g. LEAD etc) in january has no relevance to the above

PapalPower - 14 Oct 2008 12:32 - 183 of 288

cynic, buy to let was the "last great hope" to get more on to the property ladder, so those who could not afford to pay a whopping mortgage on joint salaries, could justify if by adding in rental income too.

Salary + Salary + Rental Income = Just enough for a whopping great mortgage.

It was kind of like the other rubbish of "joint equity" or buying "80% of a house".

All there to pump the bubble.

Buy to Let needs people "renting"..........and what better way than allow immigration to be boosted up and up, more migrant workers equals more "renting" demand.

cynic - 14 Oct 2008 12:49 - 184 of 288

most "buy to let" peeps did it without thinking properly and in the (foolish as it happens) expectation that house prices would rise inexorably ..... certain sectors had merit - e.g. student housing, and certainly those who did not gear too highly, prospered and will continue to do so ... as for linking that to "willful" slackening of immigration rules etc, i have never heard such poppycock in all my life, other than from one or two others on this board!

Big Al - 14 Oct 2008 13:33 - 185 of 288

I think we have to remember on the banning thing, someone (or several folk)must've complained enough for action to be taken. Assuming it was those who were offended directly, all should accept offence was caused.

jeffmack - 14 Oct 2008 14:10 - 186 of 288

Why was going to cash in January a good call. If it had really been a good call you would have been shorting the ass off of the ftse, banks etc. One day you guys will learn, shares are not only for buying, you can make more by shorting than investing.

And dont give me the bullshit about shorters getting the financial markets in the mess they are in.

Here are the principal data that must be explained:

The Twin Towers were destroyed faster than physics can explain (at free fall speed "collapse").
They underwent mid-air pulverization and were turned to dust before they hit the ground.
The protective bathtub was not significantly damaged by the destruction of the Twin Towers.
The rail lines, the tunnels and most of the rail cars had only light damage.
The WTC mall survived well, witnessed by Warner Bros. Road Runner and friends.
The seismic impact was minimal, far too small based on our comparison with the Kingdome controlled demolition.
The Twin Towers were destroyed from the top down, not bottom up.
The demolition of WTC7 was whisper quiet and the seismic signal was no greater than background noise.
The upper 80 percent, approximately, of each tower was turned into fine dust and did not crash to the earth.
The upper 90 percent, approximately, of WTC7 was turned into fine dust and did not crash to the earth.
File cabinet with folder dividers survived.
Office paper was densely spread throughout lower Manhattan, unburned, often along side burning cars.
Vertical round holes were cut into buildings 4, 5 and 6, plus a cylindrical arc into Bankers Trust and into Liberty street in front of Bankers Trust.
All planes except top secret missions were ordered down until 10:31 a.m. (when only military flights were allowed to resume), after both towers were destroyed, and only two minutes after WTC 1 had been destroyed.
Approximately 1,400 motor vehicles were towed away, toasted in strange ways, during the destruction of the Twin Towers.
The order and method of destruction of each tower minimized damage to the bathtub and adjacent buildings.
Twin Tower control without damaging neighboring buildings, in fact all seriously damaged or destroyed buildings had a WTC prefix, and no others.
The north wing of WTC 4 was left standing, neatly sliced from the main body which virtually disappeared.
The WTC1 and WTC2 rubble pile was far too small to account for the mass.
The WTC7 rubble pile was too small and contained a lot of mud.
Eyewitness testimony about toasted cars, instant disappearance of people by "unexplained" waves, a plane turning into a mid-air fireball, electrical power cut off moments before WTC 2 destruction, and the sound of explosions.
There were many flipped cars in the neighborhood of the WTC complex near trees with full folliage.
* The possibility that a technology exists. Since invention of the microwave for cooking in 1945 and laser beam in 1955*, commercial and military development of beam technology has proceeded apace, so use of high-energy beams are likely

What explanations have been suggested to explain these phenomena?
Seven explanations have been identified:
Natural causes such as earthquakes and hurricanes

Arson
The official theory of airplane impact, fires and weakened steel collapsing

Conventional demolition with explosives such as RDX, dynamite, etc.

Demolition via thermite or its variants

Fission or fusion nukes (and clean bombs)

Beam weapons, energy weapons, directed-energy weapons (DEW)

(CCD-BiB) = "Conventional Controlled Demolition" with "Bombs in the Building"

Beam Weapons, Energy Weapons, and Directed Energy Weapons (DEW):

We have used the terms "beam weapons" and "directed energy weapons" to refer to unconventional weapons (exotic weapons) that are energy weapons. We broadly define DEW as Energy that is Directed and is used as a Weapon. The full range of these weapons is classified information, so we make no limits or distinction of categories within the realm of energy weapons, as doing so would imply specific knowledge of all that is available. In the following paragraph, we have listed some of the possibilities we are aware of.

Our critics have accused us of insisting that beam weapons did their damage from outer space, yet we make no claim about whether the directed energy weapon operated from a space-, air-, or ground-based platform. Nor do we make any claim about what wavelength(s) was used, what the source(s) of energy was, whether it involved interference of multiple beams, whether it involved sound waves, whether it involved sonoluminescence, whether it involved antimatter weapons, whether it involved scalar weapons, whether it was HAARP (more here and here), whether it involved a nuclear process (e.g. NDEW, more info), whether it involved conventional directed energy weapons (cDEW), whether it involved improvised directed energy weapons (iDEW), nor what kind of accelerator was used, nor do we claim to know what the serial numbers of the parts that were in the weapon(s).

What we do claim is that the evidence is consistent with the use of energy weapons that go well beyond the capabilities of conventional explosives and can be directed.

I believe the floor design was responsible for the towers total collapse. I am sure I saw the architect being interviewed stating he new the moment the towers were hit they would implode. A different floor design would have held the building upI believe.. The design was for speed of construction.

I can see a few on here will be very impressed with the EU`s latest brainwave to admit 20 million ( yes 20 million) Asian and African workers into its borders to make up for the declining working population ;-)

The new EU policy was outlined by Franco Frattini, the EU justice commissioner, at a conference of immigration ministers in Portugal yesterday.

He said Europe needed labour, both skilled and unskilled, because of a fall in the population of working age.
