!0 March fifteen years ago for those too young to remember!

skinny - 10 Mar 2015 16:25 - 12 of 24

Do you remember October 19th 1987?

midknight - 10 Mar 2015 16:26 - 13 of 24

Yes

skinny - 10 Mar 2015 16:29 - 14 of 24

It cost me about £10k at the time, but I remember the Hurricane the previous Thursday night/Friday morning and massive carnage to the trees more.

midknight - 10 Mar 2015 16:33 - 15 of 24

It used to cost 1.65% standard dealing commission with most brokers.
I used to be with James Brearley in Manchester.
Still have the FT and Times as souvenirs of the crash.
Cost me about 7K.

I was with and still am with Hargreaves Lansdown - the weekend press and Sunday papers in particular were a must read pre mass internet - halcyon days :-)

midknight - 10 Mar 2015 16:39 - 17 of 24

But we're still here, so we must have done something right!

skinny - 10 Mar 2015 16:44 - 18 of 24

True - Black Monday and the associated Hurricane were a mere draught to my finances compared to my ex-wife - but that's another story! :-)

Talking about money, I held DLAR then and hold it today.
It's been my most successful holding over the years, despite its
fluctuations and the divis have
paid for the shares over and over again.

skinny - 10 Mar 2015 17:08 - 20 of 24

Some of these must be from about that time.

A few trades today and cash down to 74% of my holding from 90% a week ago.

Got some RSA right at the bottom of the day and bought a decent chunk of RBS.

Waiting patiently for the oil sell-off to impact the wider market
