Got in to these yesterday and doubled my position today, the more I look into the company the happier everything I read makes me. They have a product that the airlines cant refuse, due to the price and cost savings on repairs to cargo boxes and to the fuel it will save during flights..less wheight etc.
My thoughts then go to other uses of large cargo containers that must get dammaged from time to time and the large shipping containers come to mind. Whilst the air cargo industry will be the first to place orders in the long term how many various cargo boxes will aerobox be making from thier materials.
Short term nice sharp upswing once orders start arriving, long term large growth company with a variety of markets to sell to. The companies costs arevery low and they will not replace the airlines cargo boxes in a year or two it will take a long time but once it starts the upside for aerobox is very very large, valued at 22 million at the moment how much will oit be worth. Once they start taking orders the price will start to rise sharply.

The Scotsman :
Aerobox shares soar on first sales
SHARES in airline supplier Aerobox hit a new high following the first commercial sales of its cargo and baggage containers.
The Manchester-based firm’s shares soared 23 per cent to 34.75p after it revealed that Virgin Atlantic was to replace all of its containers at its Gatwick base with Aerobox’s product. Irish carrier Aer Lingus also placed an order for 100 boxes with an option to buy 900 more during 2004.
The deals came after successful three-month trials by both airlines. Aerobox said it hopes to secure further business from airlines such as Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines.

Aerobox plc
Share placing to fund expansion
Strategic Partnership with Kelvin Technologies Inc
AeroBox plc has completed a share placing to raise 2.24 million, before
expenses, through the issue to investors of 7,000,000 new Ordinary Shares at 32p
per share. The net proceeds of the issue will be used to fund working capital
and new product development. This follows the announcement made on 21 January
that the first sales, subject to contract, of the AeroBox LD3 cargo container
had been achieved with Aer Lingus and Virgin Atlantic. The air cargo container
industry is worth around US$200m per annum. The first AeroBox product, the LD3
unit, addresses half of that market.
AeroBox has also entered into a strategic partnership with Kelvin Technologies
Inc to determine the feasibility of producing a refrigerated air cargo container
that actively controls product temperature for use by the pharmaceutical, food
and related industries.
The AeroBox LD3 cargo container is the result of a decade of research and
development into composite structure panels. The strength and thermal resistance
of these panels enables AeroBox to develop custom made packaging systems for a
wide range of applications. Kelvin Technologies is an industry leader in cold
chain product management, widely used throughout the pharmaceutical industry.
In the market for temperature sensitive products, around 7% wastage occurs due
to temperature control difficulties. The World Health Organisation estimates
that 50% of all vaccines are lost in transit due to temperature problems. The
development of a temperature controlled product would therefore represent a
significant new market for AeroBox.
Bob Bushman, Chief Executive of AeroBox, commented:
'We have increased production capacity by investing in new machinery and moving
to new facilities. The partnership with Kelvin Technologies is a timely
additional opportunity to broaden our product portfolio and reach new markets.'
Application will be made for the 7,000,000 new Ordinary Shares issued under the
Placing to be admitted to trading on AIM. Dealings are expected to commence on
30 January 2004.

Afriad not AdieH, its a done deal already, its a case of them raising cash for expanding the manufacturing base to deal with the extra contracts and the contracts to come etc, classic case of the company needing cash to expand and not a bad thing imo, good things to come still with this one I reckon.

Trials suggest very low maintenance on the plastic units against the aluminium ones airlines use at present. This makes them v attractive on 2 fronts. 1. obviously lower maintenance costs. 2. 1st world airlines can flog the old containers to 3rd world airlines offsetting the cost. They are also developing a temperature controlled unit.
In already.

From www.cargonewsasia.com
In the past two years the airline industry has witnessed new evolution in the ULD sector.
Around the same time that Unitpool introduced ULD management control and ULD pooling services, Aerobox started production of the newest generation of airline container. Now these two pioneering companies have come together through the signing of a marketing agreement aimed at promoting Unitpool services and Aerobox products.
Unitpool’s unique management control and ULD pooling service reduces the operating costs of airlines by using ULD assets more effectively, whilst the Aerobox ULDs overcome many of the problems associated with aluminium ULDs including damage and serviceability.
The Aerobox ULD marketing team are part of the Watermark Group, which since its inception 18 years ago has developed relationships with over 200 airlines, supplying them with over 400 different products and services. Watermark, who are based in the UK, have joined forces with Unitpool based in Switzerland in the signing of an exclusive long-term agreement.
Aerobox ULD’s Commercial Director Russ Colbourne commented “Our cooperation with Unitpool allows us to close the circle in supplying comprehensive solutions for airlines. Now we can offer Airlines an Aerobox ULD to buy outright or we can provide them with Unitpool’s complete ULD outsourcing service.”
Philip Hill, Unitpool CEO added “We are very excited about this collaboration with Watermark and Aerobox, which will greatly enhance awareness to Unitpool globally. Additionally we are very keen to support all moves to bring cost benefits to our customers, and product development to the industry, and see the new Aerobox ULDs as a very positive addition to established products. We are engaged in extensive trials of Aerobox ULDs and are experiencing very positive results”.
Unitpool now provides its ULD management control and pooling services to 20 airlines serving more than 150 stations globally.
Aerobox ULDs are currently in trials with over 15 Airlines and have now flown over 2,000 sectors resulting is zero panel damage from everyday handling.

Also - here is an extract from a post on another BB. Apparently info gained from a conversation with an insider...
"...original 15 airlines had now grown to 26 who were using the LD3s, plus Unitpools 20 client airlines (of which 17 use Unitpool boxes and 3 own their own but they are managed by Unitpool). Of these, there had been no negative feedback at all from any of them and they were now at something like 20000 flight sectors flown with nil damage and nil repair costs"
looks like it is a buy rather than a hold

thought last week when it broke 41p was the end of the stop block. I have no problem as ARX and unitpol have a good product and world operation. Correct me if I am wrong but the plastic box can mingle with the existing alu ones on aircraft and are leased/rented out to airlines anyway, unitpol will be constantly increasing there number of units due to the maintenance savings and this will show in the results, the big airline deals will keep the share price alive in the meantime. hence the drop as no big RNS to drive the price up.
The stock is a no brainer....or i am.
