Hello! GB Group holders!! (GBG)

stockbunny - 24 Oct 2003 15:06

Up at this moment by 3p - about to try and find out why!

stockbunny - 24 Oct 2003 15:13 - 2 of 187

Can't find a reason - no news I can see but will keep in looking, trades are interesting quite a few fair sized purchases going on.......

Vintage57 - 24 Oct 2003 15:39 - 3 of 187

GBG tipped in Investor's Chronicle.

grooverjr - 24 Oct 2003 16:28 - 4 of 187

There was also an interesting article albeit a bit old by Tim Freeborn in Shares on the 29th May.

stockbunny - 24 Oct 2003 17:07 - 5 of 187

Ahhh so maybe it was the IC recommendation than.....interesting, haven't seen the closing price hopefully it held the earlier gain...

Chelsea1957 - 24 Oct 2003 21:40 - 6 of 187

Good to see some movement here, been holding the stock for the last couple of months without any real excitement. In it for the long term though, this is where i think the big gains are to be made!

stockbunny - 27 Oct 2003 14:52 - 7 of 187

Going up again a little today!!!! Current 24p...But best to keep the champers on ice for a while yet!

Global Nomad - 04 Nov 2003 11:32 - 8 of 187

Seems like 24, 25 is some sort of upper limit recently, any reasons why? or where it might go if it breaches this level.....

stockbunny - 06 Nov 2003 14:31 - 9 of 187

Don't know to be honest....But a break through that 24p brick wall
would be nice. They are due to report end of the month I think
fingers crossed for than....

stockbunny - 16 Nov 2003 11:37 - 10 of 187

It's risen well end of last week - let's hope it continues...
Results due out Wednesday

stockbunny - 16 Nov 2003 11:39 - 11 of 187

draw?epic=GBG

gardyne - 16 Nov 2003 12:24 - 12 of 187

Long term holder myself but medium term good results and more contract news on wednesday will put this share on higher levels.

stockbunny - 02 Jan 2004 11:53 - 13 of 187

We are on the rise again and looking at the trades there have been some
meaty purchases this morning (50,000 for example)
Is there some news or speculation that's yet to surface fully
I wonder....??
33.75p terrific! Roll on 34p!

gardyne - 02 Jan 2004 14:25 - 14 of 187

Looks like you are right, stockbunny 34p for bid now.

stockbunny - 02 Jan 2004 14:51 - 15 of 187

Wonder if it's worth sitting here now and saying
34p terrific! Roll on 35P!!!!
Well you never know, stranger things have happened!!

Oakapples142 - 03 Mar 2004 09:05 - 16 of 187

Any idea why the gradual fall. I have been in since 15p. Great pick (its my initials!!) Reluctant to take profits.

stockbunny - 03 Mar 2004 14:49 - 17 of 187

Don't know of any reason for the gradual fall or to take
profits currently IMHO - it has seemed to bounce slowly up
and down within a certain band over the last few months, my
personal theory (BUT that's all it is!) is that short-term
investors put money in thinking it will do something quickly,
find it hasn't after a relatively short while and take the
money back out to put somewhere else where they think more
speedy profits can be made...just my thoughts though!!
I'm holding in there and congratulations for getting in there
early on at 15p OakApples142 - a good 'spot', you beat me, I
went in at 19p!!!

Oakapples142 - 03 Mar 2004 17:16 - 18 of 187

Thanks for that Stockbunny. I guess its my parents that should take the credit for providing me with the GB initials - I am staying in

stockbunny - 04 Mar 2004 14:15 - 19 of 187

Up a fraction today!!
BTW noticed another software firm ALN had also dropped off in
the last few days, may be no connection or it could be the
sector went through a not-so-good patch.

Pete Adams - 05 Mar 2004 09:32 - 20 of 187

The sudden drop on tuesday may have been due to a general sell off of technology shares by big institutional investors which has been going on over the past 6 weeks. Some other small tech companies seem to have suffered in the same way, even though there has been no apparent change in the fundamentals. The information technology sector to which GB Group belongs has recently lost relative strength against the FTSE after a long period of outperformance. I'm holding onto my shares as long term prospects still look very good.

Oakapples142 - 05 Mar 2004 09:38 - 21 of 187

Great Start to-day 8%up at 9.30am. Lets hope GB continues to stand for "Great Buy"

stockbunny - 05 Mar 2004 14:19 - 22 of 187

Rats! I wasn't around that early today so didn't see the rise,
but will check now and hopefully it has held!

stockbunny - 05 Mar 2004 14:53 - 23 of 187

It has held (quick fanfare!!)nice to see!!

stockbunny - 08 Mar 2004 15:47 - 24 of 187

OUCH!! Not that bad really but could have done without it, causing major hassle to share price this afternoon - hard hats on maybe for a while!!!

GB GROUP
('GB Group' or 'the Company')

TRADING UPDATE
WITH RESPECT TO THE FINANCIAL YEAR ENDING 31 MARCH 2004

BT Agreement and URU Service
In November 2003, the Company announced that it had entered into a Joint
Collaboration Agreement with BT to formulate a strategy to exploit the rapidly
growing identity fraud and credit fraud prevention markets. The aim of the
agreement is to use the core strengths of both organisations to develop new
products and services capable of preventing and detecting identity fraud and
credit fraud.

The first service, URU, launched in January 2004, combines the Company's data
sources and technology with BT's web service infrastructure to provide
organisations with an effective on line anti fraud service, delivered in seconds
over secure Web Services. Currently there are a number of URU trials underway
with major organisations and the Company has achieved its first evaluation sale
of URU. Although the market for URU is new and will take time to develop, we
believe that it offers good long term opportunities for the Company.

Accordingly the resource being committed by the Company to the development of
URU has been increased significantly in the areas of sales and marketing,
technical development and investment in new data sources. For example, in
February 2004 the Company entered into an agreement with CallCredit, one of the
three UK Credit Reference Agencies, under which Credit Referencing Services
provided by CallCredit will form part of the URU service thereby creating a
combined identity fraud and credit referencing service. The investment in URU
will cost the Company approximately 300,000 more than originally estimated this
year, and will continue into the next financial year. This investment
expenditure will be reflected in the Company's profit and loss account. The
Company believes that the potential of this market justifies the initial
investment in these services.

Settlement of Contract Dispute
In its Interim Statement, the Company indicated that it was undertaking a legal
process to resolve a problematic long term contract originally entered into in
June 2001. This was settled in late February 2004 with the net cost to the
Company (essentially its legal costs) amounting to approximately 100,000.

Existing Businesses
GB's existing DataIntegrity and DataSolutions businesses are generating sales
marginally lower than the Company's original expectations but around 6% ahead of
the previous year. The cost of the investment in sales and marketing and
infrastructure to achieve growth in these businesses is turning out as expected,
but gross margins on sales for the year to date are lower by around 2% due to
the greater overall competitiveness in its markets, and in particular in
relation to the resale of third party software through its DataSolutions
business. Accordingly, if this situation continues through the high sales volume
month of March, the contribution to operating profit from these businesses would
be around 300,000 less than the Company's original expectation.

Turnover and Profit for the Current Financial Year
The overall effect of the above is that the Company expects that its turnover
will be marginally lower than market expectations but ahead of last year. Also,
the Company's operating profit could be approximately 700,000 lower than the
market expectations of 1.1 million, which does not currently reflect the
investment in new business development and other matters described above. The
Group has remained cash generative over the year to date, and at 29 February
2004 group cash balances were 6.6 million compared to 6.4 million at the end
of February 2003, after taking account of the dividend payment of 400,000 in
August 2003.

The Company expects to announce its preliminary figures for this financial year
towards the end of May.
- Ends -

stockbunny - 09 Mar 2004 14:56 - 25 of 187

Things have not improved today, almost down to the price I
bought in at, currently 23p...But things can turn round, stranger things have
been known!! I'm off to the tea-rooms for a large brandy in
the meantime!!

Oakapples142 - 09 Mar 2004 15:05 - 26 of 187

This is not the only stock held by me that is misbehaving to-day many more are.
I tried to sell some but missed the boat and I am not prepared to give them away - so as you say its hard hat time and await better news maybe end May for GBG.

stockbunny - 09 Mar 2004 15:15 - 27 of 187

Agreed OakApples, I'm certainly not selling out for this price!
My large/mid caps are doing OK, but another small company
CRY - building sector, has had two days like GBG not making
happy stock watching on two counts.
Never mind, still think it is an over reaction to the news
yesterday that wasn't that bad, but if you check the trades
on GBG there are several quite large holdings for a small co.
that have been sold today - one of 43,000 shares, bound to have
a negative affect...

Grandma - 09 Mar 2004 21:26 - 28 of 187

On the other hand-
On PC Market Eye were 2 trades marked F ("single protected trades")
At 16.28 75k at 25p & at 16.15 50k at 27p. They were not marked as delayed trades. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Grandma - 09 Mar 2004 21:28 - 29 of 187

Sorry- "single protected transactions" in case is different.

stockbunny - 10 Mar 2004 11:55 - 30 of 187

Sorry not a clue I'm afraid, but it's looking better today
currently up by three-quarters of a penny, not a lot I know but encouraging!!!

stockbunny - 10 Mar 2004 12:01 - 31 of 187

I have asked the question of what these single protected
transactions are on the traders thread, someone there may be
able to shed light on it hopefully.

hilary - 10 Mar 2004 12:08 - 32 of 187

A protected transaction occurs when a large order is going through the market. The buyer (or seller) may wish to keep the order anonymous from the rest of the market as the size of the order could greatly alter the price of the stock. With a protected transaction, the dealer will put the trade through in small quantities rather than knock the whole order out in one hit. The entire transaction is reported once the deal is completed. The LSE is notified at the start and at the end of the transaction. However, the market as a whole isn't told until the end, thus the order is protected.

Oakapples142 - 10 Mar 2004 15:10 - 33 of 187

Thanks so much for that "Hilary". Seems to me it would be a good idea to commence a questions and answers thread from which many would benefit - lets get weaving!.

Grandma - 10 Mar 2004 18:46 - 34 of 187

Also thanks from me!

Grandma

stockbunny - 12 Mar 2004 11:25 - 35 of 187

Rising this morning people - maybe (hopefully) the worst
has been and gone now, but still keeping the hard hat handy
just in case of further falling masonary!

Trainspotter - 12 Mar 2004 11:54 - 36 of 187

I sold out all my holding 150k at 25.5 for a 15% profit on the warning. Big disapointment to me GBG, I like what they do and think they have a future, but it is best to stay out until news looks better. I would be looking to get back in at 15p.

stockbunny - 12 Mar 2004 12:00 - 37 of 187

Well as I'm still in from before the problems you will be able
to understand when I say I understand your thoughts, but equally
I don't want to see a price level of 15p again, hopefully that
level is behind them (fingers crossed behind back!)

stockbunny - 12 Mar 2004 14:25 - 38 of 187

There are a worrying amount of ? trades showing today....

stockbunny - 27 Apr 2004 09:55 - 39 of 187

OK Is anyone left still in this stock on the BB or am I the only one
still holding onto the mast hoping its not going to sink??!!

With all the talk of ID cards this should be a great time for GBG
but all it seems to do recently is leak share price/value.

Anyone know anything????

Grandma - 27 Apr 2004 19:36 - 40 of 187

I have some- took pfts at the update 8th March, then b. back lower. I'm hoping the drift is just lack of news.

taquila - 28 Apr 2004 08:03 - 41 of 187

stockbunny

no, you're not alone! Unfortunately I bought in quite high (looked strong at the time) but I'll hang on in there. Hopefully this thing going through with BT will sort itself out and they may post some healthier results next time.

jj50 - 28 Apr 2004 09:08 - 42 of 187

I have also been in this for some time stockbunny, still in positive territory and plan on hanging on for the time being. Shall do some further research today and advise!

stockbunny - 28 Apr 2004 10:20 - 43 of 187

OK than there's nothing else for it, we will all lash ourselves
to the mast and hope for the storm to ease and land to come into
sight......

""All for one and one for all!!!!""

(Sorry I have a daft sense of humour I'm afraid as jj50 knows,
If you can't laugh in this game you'd cry an awful lot!)

stockbunny - 20 May 2004 14:24 - 44 of 187

Tuesday 25th May for results people, let's hope they are good enough
to lift us out of the ditch we have been in for a while from a share
price perspective (fingers crossed!)

jj50 - 20 May 2004 16:40 - 45 of 187

Thanks for the reminder stockbunny. I just can't decide on this one whether to hang on in there or "jump ship". Haven't found out much more about it that pushes me in one direction or the other. May as well wait till 25th now!

jj50 - 20 May 2004 16:55 - 46 of 187

Have been sifting through old information on why I bought this in the first place! As I am sure you know, it had been a long term Citywire tip and last year at this time directors of GBG were investing their own money in the company, as were a considerable no. of "shrewdies", which can't be bad news. When it fell 19.1% on a single day last March, the reason given was "due to an increase in investments in new services and that a legal settlement of 100,000 will also impact earnings". Nothing here looks too dire, so I am going to wait and see what evolves at the end of the month!

amberjane - 20 May 2004 17:02 - 47 of 187

I was going to say from your previous post, 'jump ship'? I was thinking of buying in & thought we could do a deal! Mind you nobody has mentioned 'topping up' at this price wo I'll do a bit more delving.

jj50 - 20 May 2004 19:04 - 48 of 187

Amberjane, only "jump ship" because stockbunny had suggested we "lash ourselves to the mast and .....the storm"!! Recent fall had made me feel a trifle seasick (!) so excuse the nautical terms!

stockbunny - 21 May 2004 15:21 - 49 of 187

Amberjane - I haven't got a reason for not topping up GBG, it's just that
I don't do that with any company, to be honest, unless it is a good divi player (blue chip) or a stock where I have bought, sold and buy in again later on - not quite the same as topping up.
The way I figure it (rightly or wrongly) is that if I wasn't prepared to risk any more money than I did in the first place, what could have changed to warrent
risking more cash on it, especially if its gone down in value.
Its just my way of doing things, which can be a bit strange I admit!!

amberjane - 21 May 2004 16:06 - 50 of 187

No I agree, with all my shares that are down I have never bought any more but on reading some posts, to buy in later at the 'bottom', if the share then only recovers to half your first purchase youve reduced or wiped out your losses. Well it sounds good but in theory as you say......

Dont have any GBG at present but have been watching for some time.

stockbunny - 21 May 2004 16:13 - 51 of 187

Which is possibly the most sensible thing to do frankly
(sit and watch for now) if you're
not already in and don't have a servicable crystal ball (lol) it is
possibly better to see the results first - but I can understand the
temptation to get in before just in case they are really good.
Buying in low seems to work with the blue chips but the tiddlers,
like you I'm just not sure (lol or brave enough?) to do it.

amberjane - 21 May 2004 16:18 - 52 of 187

Brave or .....!! ummm I bought cfp today .84. R they at bottom? didnt wait for my 2 candlesticks!

stockbunny - 21 May 2004 16:27 - 53 of 187

Don't know the company but having a quick look...

stockbunny - 21 May 2004 16:29 - 54 of 187

Well I don't 'do' candlesticks but I do do plain ordinary graphs...
Looks like its' halfway down to me, so possibly a good bet....
Go with your instincts!

graph.php?startDate=21%2F05%2F02&period=

amberjane - 21 May 2004 16:37 - 55 of 187

Yiikks...but I like to be optomistic....its also half way up!

optomistic - 23 May 2004 10:31 - 56 of 187

Hello amberjane, I dont think you would like to be me, amberjane sounds a far nicer name! but you could try being 'optimistic' and your life could become really enlightened :-))
On a serious note your discussions with Stockbunny on topping up or averaging, I have found that doing this on the tiddlers can be risky i.e locking in more cash in companies that take months, years if ever to recover. Yet on the major stocks that do have regular changing price trends I have found it a good way of recovering from a badly timed entry point. Although there is still the problem of deciding the optimum time to re enter.
Good luck with GBG
opto

stockbunny - 24 May 2004 16:58 - 57 of 187

Good points Opto, may try that tactic at some point as what you say
does make sense, but you are also right, its all in the timing - bit
like comedy (lol)

So no news 'leaked' out of GB today....shame, I wondered if we may get
a lift today (based on optimism & sentiment) and that tomorrow that rise just
might have been built on....Guess it's all down to the actual results
and not pre-results sentiment..

stockbunny - 25 May 2004 15:19 - 58 of 187

Haven't had time to read the full run down on the results, but based
on the brief summary found on the news section here, things look OK
and the tiny divi. is maintained. Guess it needs some really positive
publicity and a few institutions to buy in some more for us to get a
further move on the share price in the near future...

Mack1705 - 22 Jun 2004 15:26 - 59 of 187

having read the audited accounts I must say I had not appreciated GBG's valuable 'tax asset'.

currently standing at 20m+ that should give GBG a massive tax saving in cash flow terms over the next few years...

looks like a steal at 18p but what do I know!!!

stockbunny - 23 Jun 2004 15:56 - 60 of 187

Thought the whole annual report was nicely done frankly - in other
words if they want to attract investment from people other then just accoutants the report needs to be readable. It certainly said it in layman's terms, even my cat could have understood the business (rare with software co's) - nice presentation too.
However here we sit (again) with the price going nowhere at 18p.....
((Snoozing...someone wake me up when the action starts....zzzzzzzzzz))

optomistic - 23 Jun 2004 19:36 - 61 of 187

Is anything likely to make the price rise from todays level?

Mack1705 - 24 Jun 2004 11:11 - 62 of 187

one or two large URU deals might light the blue touch paper...

fingers crossed!!!

stockbunny - 24 Jun 2004 14:26 - 63 of 187

They always have more action in the second half of the year, as contracts
come up for renewal so Bunny-Logic says this 2nd trading half of the year is
more likely to see price movement then the first half has or tends to.
(But as always, only trust your own logic! lol)

stockbunny - 24 Jun 2004 14:32 - 64 of 187

RATS! Just tried to copy and paste a 3year chart but was unsuccessful...
If you check out the 3 year chart and look at the movement july,August, Sept
Oct in each of the years, you should see a pattern (OK it's not a huge
pattern..) but a pattern of an improved price conpared with the few preceeding
months.

Mack1705 - 01 Jul 2004 11:28 - 65 of 187

NEW CONTRACT SIGNED!

Laura Ashley deal provides lift for database firm
Jun 30 2004
Daily Post

CHESTER-BASED data services company GB Group has signed a three-year deal with retailer Laura Ashley to handle its customer database.

The agreement, believed to be worth around 250,000, aims to help the home furnishings and fashion group accelerate the growth of its catalogue and on-line businesses. GB Group's DataSolutions division, whose other clients include Npower, Coral Racing and De Vere Hotels, will design and host the database.

The company said its GBHeadstart database system was the key to securing the deal with Laura Ashley.

It claims the technology allows it to design and set up a database in just eight weeks, when most sophisticated databases take months.

David Selby, head of mail order and e-commerce at Laura Ashley, said: "It's a very important step for us. Our catalogue and on-line businesses are going from strength to strength.

"To maintain our momentum we must be able to analyse our customer data to a deeper level, so we can take a more targeted approach to marketing."

Laura Ashley will use the new database to monitor customer-buying, measure the success of marketing campaigns and the impact on mail order, e-commerce and store card sales.

Dave Cockerill, managing director of GB Group's DataSolutions Division, said: "The onus is now on database management companies to design and build first-rate databases quickly."

jj50 - 01 Jul 2004 11:49 - 66 of 187

Thanks for this info Mack. I hadn't picked up on this.

stockbunny - 01 Jul 2004 11:49 - 67 of 187

Mack1705 - cheers for posting this information - to be honest after the
recent falls when I signed in and came onto the BB, as soon as I saw the
GBG thread I thought OH NO! It's crashed totally now....
So thank you for restoring my faith!!
Be Lucky!!

Mack1705 - 01 Jul 2004 12:48 - 68 of 187

stockbunny,

I keep an eye on ICCheshireonline(iccheshireonline.icnetwork.co.uk) which often reports on GB who are relatively big players in the local economy.

staying on the 'positive' I reckon the recent round of interest rate hikes will help enhance GB's eps:-

last year 200k credit interest on 6.9m

this year I reckon they could make 325k on a similar deposit

200k translates into 0.25p esp

325k gets you to 0.4p a share - just about enough to pay the annual divi!!!

think the market have overdone the discount on GB - I reckon even with modest take up of URU this year and the continuation of the mature business we should see esp restored at the 1.5p+ level

with most tech companies trading on a multiple of 15x esp then GBG should be much closer to 22p+....AND thats before you factor in their cash balances which currently equal 50% of Market Cap(13.5m)

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a positive trading update on 22nd July(AGM)

stockbunny - 01 Jul 2004 15:12 - 69 of 187

Good points Mack - let's keep the fingers crossed and wait and see....

Mack1705 - 05 Jul 2004 10:20 - 70 of 187

trading volume seems to be up so far today, with most trades going through as BUYS!

have I missed an announcement or has someone tipped GBG for better things?

stockbunny - 05 Jul 2004 15:48 - 71 of 187

Don't say it too loud..but..we've gained a half a penny today!!!

Mack1705 - 05 Jul 2004 16:18 - 72 of 187

stockbunny,

scarey isn't it!

I topped up on Friday and got 10,000 @ 16.9p

the same 10,000 costs 17.95p today...c.6% more expensive!

wonder what has triggered all this buying interest....has some of the trading update due at the July AGM leaked out already?

stockbunny - 05 Jul 2004 16:24 - 73 of 187

I don't know...keep ears to the ground!!

Mack1705 - 05 Jul 2004 16:45 - 74 of 187

Stockbunny,

now realise what got things moving today...a nice 250,000 protected trade has just been completed at 17p....

lets hope we see a few more of these buys in the run up to the AGM

stay lucky

stockbunny - 05 Jul 2004 16:54 - 75 of 187

You too Mack!

dandu71 - 06 Jul 2004 10:34 - 76 of 187

Mack1705 - 06 Jul 2004 11:13 - 77 of 187

welcome to the club Dandu...

interesting that another 250k buy @ 17p has gone through as a late trade

looks like someone is 'stock building'?

stockbunny - 07 Jul 2004 10:14 - 78 of 187

Well they can happily build away as far as I am concerned and the
more the better!! Maybe there's news on the way...???
Welcome dandu71 - it's certainly an interesting share anyway!!!
;>)

dandu71 - 07 Jul 2004 14:55 - 79 of 187

Buys outweight sells again today,is someone stocking up ready for some big news???

stockbunny - 07 Jul 2004 14:57 - 80 of 187

Who knows but guess what? We hope so!!! (lol)
I just wish the trades would move the price!

wilbs - 07 Jul 2004 19:32 - 81 of 187

Ive been in on this one for a while now and gonna top up because got a good feeling about this.

dandu71 - 08 Jul 2004 12:17 - 82 of 187

Demand still exceeding supply but price not yet going up.....

wilbs - 08 Jul 2004 18:26 - 83 of 187

I wish I had a crystal ball!!

stockbunny - 09 Jul 2004 11:03 - 84 of 187

Trust me it doesn't help..(!!lol)

stockbunny - 04 Aug 2004 16:34 - 85 of 187

Yo people!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but we're sliding again...

jj50 - 04 Aug 2004 16:35 - 86 of 187

Had noticed - getting serious now!

stockbunny - 04 Aug 2004 16:40 - 87 of 187

Well I wont sell out on a drop - never do - so it's steely nerves for a few
days I suppose!

Oakapples142 - 05 Aug 2004 09:15 - 88 of 187

All sells so far to-day albeit only 42K in total but GBG moves up into the blue - why oh why!!

stockbunny - 05 Aug 2004 09:29 - 89 of 187

Haven't looked yet, but will now - I know Oak. it is all very strange!

Mack1705 - 08 Sep 2004 15:56 - 90 of 187

was that a 1,000,000 buy that went through the other day @ 14.5p

seems to have started an upward movement!!

stockbunny - 08 Sep 2004 16:25 - 91 of 187

I know...worrying isn't it (lol) we have been sitting about at
14 odd pence for ages now..can we cope with the sudden upwardly
mobile GBG??

Mack1705 - 08 Sep 2004 16:31 - 92 of 187

results aren't out for at least 3 months...maybe someone has got wind of a new URU contract or maybe someone is stakebuilding on the quiet with a view to making a takeover bid?

time will tell!!

stockbunny - 08 Sep 2004 17:03 - 93 of 187

Indeed, meanwhile we can all go back to gathering dust with our
real or virtual certificates LOL

Mack1705 - 08 Sep 2004 17:06 - 94 of 187

just noticed another 500,000 shares have gone through at 14.75p after hours

interesting pattern forming with larges trades over last 24 hours:-

1,000,000 @ 14.5p

250,000 @ 14.6p

500,000 @ 14.75p

125,000 @ 14.85p

the Offer goes from 14.75p to 15p to 15.5p

GBG you are back on my WATCH list!!!

stockbunny - 08 Sep 2004 17:12 - 95 of 187

Interesting.....thanks for passing it on Mack.

jj50 - 08 Sep 2004 17:38 - 96 of 187

Thanks for info Mack. I had decided to ignore this one for a while as I it went through my stop loss some time ago. Hope there is some good news on the way.

Mack1705 - 09 Sep 2004 11:15 - 97 of 187

another 250,000 buy at 15.25p just gone through!

thats 2.125m of buys in the last 48hrs....funnily enough that equates to 3% of GBG's total shareholding!

perhaps a RNS disclosure is imminent?

stockbunny - 09 Sep 2004 11:41 - 98 of 187

Maybe.....maybe.....well spotted Mack!

Mack1705 - 09 Sep 2004 14:33 - 99 of 187

can anyone confirm whether or not alot of these small trades at 15p 0r 15.05p are buys or sells?

stockbunny - 09 Sep 2004 14:36 - 100 of 187

No sorry I don't have that service.

Mack1705 - 09 Sep 2004 14:58 - 101 of 187

thanks bunny,

phoned my broker and he confirmed the following:-

up to 150,000 sell @14.75p

up to 150,000 buy at 15p

if I wanted 250,000+ I'd have to pay 15.5p

at least that resolves the trades @ 15p then...

stockbunny - 09 Sep 2004 15:01 - 102 of 187

Indeed - it's the old story of be patient and wait and see I'm
afraid Mack - there could be news in the air, or it could be nothing.

Mack1705 - 09 Sep 2004 15:08 - 103 of 187

just noticed this in today's CheshireOnline(http://icnetwork.co.uk)

good to see that fraud prevention is viewed as an area of growth

Fraud fighting success means bigger premises Sep 9 2004

By Larry Neild, Daily Post

WORK is to start in Southport next week on a new 3m office complex for the fraud arm of the information solutions company Experian.

The 16,000 sq ft office on a business park close to Southport Hospital will enable the company to increase its workforce in the resort from 75 to 100, with more recuitment expected later.

Currently MCL Software, part of Experian, works from three offices, one in Lord Street and two in Hoghton Street.

But the workload of MCL has grown so fast that the company has run out of space and needs bigger premises.

MCL specialises in writing anti-fraud software programmes for major banks and building societies as well as big businesses. The Mayor of Sefton, Cllr Clifford Mainey, will signal the start of work on the new offices at a ground-breaking ceremony on Monday at the site in Wright Moss Way, Southport.

When constructed, the new office building will occupy the prime site within the business park development and will initially accommodate up to 100 employees. It is expected to be completed in March 2005.

Experian, the current UK Business of the Year, is a global information solutions company based in Nottingham. It has offices in 23 countries and 13,000 staff worldwide. MCL Software has been part of Experian since 1996 and is one of the UK's leading specialists in anti-fraud systems.

From its base in Southport, it supports clients across the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and Australia, including most of the UK's major banks and financial services institutions, leading insurers, the retail and mail order industry and Government and law enforcement agencies.

Experian acquired MCL Software, the developer of the registered Hunter anti-fraud software, in 2002, having owned 49% of the business since 1996.

Adrian Bennett, co-founder and managing director of MCL, said at the time: "There is growing demand for our Hunter anti-fraud system overseas and, with Experian's resources behind us we are now able to take advantage of this terrific opportunity.

Demand for the anti-fraud products and services provided by MCL and Experian is growing rapidly in the UK and overseas.

Recent significant exposure of the high risk to British consumers to identity fraud, as a result of an investigation by Experian, highlighted the growing incidence of credit application fraud by criminals who steal an individual's entire identity.

This type of fraud is one of the major contributors to the multi-billion pound drain on the consumer finance industry.

this was on CheshireOnline just at the end of last month

Insurance deal worth millions Aug 27 2004

Daily Post

LIVERPOOL insurer Royal & SunAlliance has signed a contract with Chester customer data specialists GB Group that is expected to generate millions of pounds worth of extra business.

GB has developed a geographical risk-analysis system for R&SA that will provide a risk assessment of individual properties in seconds.

The aim is to save R&SA time and money and to give the Old Hall Street operator a competitive advantage when replying to large commercial portfolio enquiries relating to numerous properties requiring insurance cover against various perils.

Before switching to the new system - which is based on GB's powerful Accelerator technology and Royal Mail Postcode Address File data - R&SA underwriters spent considerable time on calculations based on various sets of data to assess the risks of insuring a group of commercial properties."

Mack1705 - 21 Sep 2004 16:11 - 105 of 187

trading has been light today so wouldn't be surprised to see a large T trade sell after to close to justify drop in price today?

stockbunny - 21 Sep 2004 16:21 - 106 of 187

Maybe...I'm sure it will get there in the end - EG put on and sustain a reasonable price - but it's all a question of when...

Oakapples142 - 30 Sep 2004 11:15 - 107 of 187

Wow - whats with what looks like 2 mil buys. If its a question of time has the clock been advanced - fingers crossed - It worked now another 1 mil buy

stockbunny - 30 Sep 2004 13:22 - 108 of 187

Hi OakApples!
I've seen the price has gone up this morning - a relief after the
recent downers - is this a turning point?
Fingers crossed!! But can't see any news out there to cause the buying...

stockbunny - 30 Sep 2004 14:01 - 109 of 187

Over 3.7M today, does seem a lot..more of these have changed hands
then in several of the bigger companies I watch - it's all very odd.

Mack1705 - 04 Oct 2004 16:23 - 110 of 187

groan!!! bid back down to 13.5p on only c.100,000 shares traded today, wonder what game MMs are playing at here, especially after all that buying at the end of last week???

stockbunny - 04 Oct 2004 16:29 - 111 of 187

Afternoon Mack - goodness knows and your guess is as good as mine
is the only answer I can venture I'm afraid. The next session of
reporting hopefully will help, maybe not enough info. comes out on
contracts the company wins etc (?) plus I wonder how many private
investors see one tumble in the price and no recovery, get impatient
and sell out - hardly helping the price recover!
Guess all we can do for now is hang on in there or cut and run...
I'm staying in personally a while longer.

Oakapples142 - 04 Oct 2004 18:54 - 112 of 187

Have they got another big buyer in the wings and they are trying to put the frights up us - Hold on Mr Wainwaring remember we are GB - " they dont like it up em "

Mack1705 - 05 Oct 2004 16:33 - 113 of 187

how far can this decline?

has there been a problem with their URU product development which I've missed?

is now officially the worst performing stock in my portfolio and when I bought(18p) I thought it could only go higher!

still think fundamentals are good for this company and the fall in price overdone...

stockbunny - 06 Oct 2004 11:57 - 114 of 187

Haven't seen any news that backs up the recent falls or even suggests
any problems - totally in the dark..

OakApples LOL Dad's Army?? You've lost me..... but remember if you are ever
in need of a beer (and you Mack) call into the tea-rooms - it may be
virtual support in the face of falling prices but it sometimes helps.

stockbunny - 07 Oct 2004 11:51 - 115 of 187

Ok positive movement today for a change!

jj50 - 07 Oct 2004 12:23 - 116 of 187

Bunny, that's because my stop loss kicked in and sold so you should be ok from here on!!

stockbunny - 07 Oct 2004 12:57 - 117 of 187

LOL JJ!!!! Are you lunching in the tea-rooms?

Oakapples142 - 07 Oct 2004 14:42 - 118 of 187

Hi Stockbunny - Having misled you with my Dads Army nonsence you are concerning me with your preoccupation with the tea room - Like the look of what GB are gradually doing this week.

stockbunny - 07 Oct 2004 14:51 - 119 of 187

LOL - ah well thats because I have to make sure the takings aren't
down in the tea-rooms for GoldDog while he's away you see LOL
Keeping fingers and toes crossed on the GBG front!!

Mack 1705 - 14 Oct 2004 13:10 - 120 of 187

double bottom forming?

stockbunny - 14 Oct 2004 13:12 - 121 of 187

Hi Mack - wondered if anyone else was around today to see we
have taken another knock back - I'm still learning on TA so
please explain further on the potential following a
'double bottom' forming - sounds painful LOL ;>)

Pete Adams - 14 Oct 2004 14:42 - 122 of 187

If the chart makes a double bottom after a fall, i.e. a 'W' formation where it hits a new low, rebounds a bit, goes back to the same low then rebounds again, it is a bullish signal. If the price line starts going up AFTER the w is formed it is likely to go up a lot from there.

stockbunny - 14 Oct 2004 14:46 - 123 of 187

Cheers Pete A for filling in the blanks for me - we'll see how
things go then from here.

Mack 1705 - 14 Oct 2004 16:13 - 124 of 187

thanks pete

if you want a graphical explanation this site is useful

http://stockcharts.com/education/ChartAnalysis/doubleBottom.html

stockbunny - 14 Oct 2004 16:35 - 125 of 187

Thanks Mack - I am on a constant mission to learn from this site
already but you never know one day I might get there LOL
;>)

stockbunny - 22 Oct 2004 16:04 - 126 of 187

YO Chaps!!
Please try and NOT faint on me, cos I wont be able to catch you BUT
we are UP 1.5p today at 16p!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well it's got to be worth putting at least a couple of flags out for!!
Fingers (or in my case ears crossed) people that a turning point
has been reached!
:>) (a highly optimistic bunny!!)

stockbunny - 26 Oct 2004 16:51 - 127 of 187

OK - let's hope it will be good news!!!

26 October 2004

GB Group plc

Announcement of Interim Results

GB Group plc will be announcing Interim Results for the six months ended 30
September 2004 on Thursday 18 November 2004.

- Ends -

Oakapples142 - 28 Oct 2004 10:57 - 128 of 187

Morning Stockbunny - the steady climb in October looks to be finishing in a flourish and for no apparent reason. Although good news not anticipated on 18th Nov maybe the analysts have got it wrong. Looking at recent posts there are only a few of us commenting on this one - good luck

Oakapples142 - 28 Oct 2004 16:12 - 129 of 187

Now up over6% - anyone know why

stockbunny - 28 Oct 2004 16:22 - 130 of 187

As long as it's UP quite honestly I'm tempted to say I don't
care why!!! (big cheesy grin!!) Sorry, seriously don't know....

Oakapples142 - 28 Oct 2004 16:24 - 131 of 187

Its looking even better - all buys for past two hours - lets hope its GB staff members!

stockbunny - 28 Oct 2004 16:39 - 132 of 187

:>)
Looking at stockwatch it did hit 18p at one point today!

Oakapples142 - 28 Oct 2004 16:44 - 133 of 187

25p at close of business on 18th November is my target and would mean a much better than expected Interim but why not. The structure of the company is sound.

taquila - 28 Oct 2004 17:46 - 134 of 187

taquila - 28 Oct 2004 17:49 - 135 of 187

I think the rise today probably had somehing to do with RTD's anticipated figures - a piggy-back ride for same-sector companies.

stockbunny - 28 Oct 2004 18:00 - 136 of 187

Well I don't mind if it's via piggy-back or not, if it
gets there, that will do me!!!
OakApples - I would love to see 30p again, but there again I
would love to see 30 again! LOL ;>)

Oakapples142 - 29 Oct 2004 11:38 - 137 of 187

Oh what a lovely day !!

stockbunny - 29 Oct 2004 16:28 - 138 of 187

Oh yes what a lovely day!!!!!
Its up to 19.75 currently but seems its pushed even higher earlier
has our Christmas come early oak Apples?? OH gawd will that tempt fate?
I didn't say it honest.........ears crossed!! ;>)

Oakapples142 - 29 Oct 2004 16:44 - 139 of 187

Someone knows something - all I know is that my weekend is going to be all the happier as a result of GBG - PXC - OXB and my very wild card AKO (dont mention the losers!) Might even be nice to the wife!! Have a good weekend - I will be up bright and early on Monday. LOL

stockbunny - 29 Oct 2004 16:47 - 140 of 187

LOL I should hope you will be nice to the wife Oak Apples!! ;>)
Us ladies make the world go round you know!!!
Enjoy your weekend and lets keep hopes high!!

Oakapples142 - 29 Oct 2004 16:55 - 141 of 187

Oh golly now I am in trouble (thought you were "one of us" !) now I will get told off by her who makes my world go round (she will think this is a chat room!! ) Very nice chatting to you anyway. I will now watch my Ps & Qs when getting excited on this thread. Hope we are so chatty all through next week!

stockbunny - 29 Oct 2004 17:20 - 142 of 187

Oh OakApples - a bloke called StockBunny..???? LOL!!
The mind boggles ;>)
Don't worry you can get as excitable as you want over GBG!
You know there's quite a few guys who go in the tea-rooms on a daily basis
and they've survived - even the bunny's cooking may I add! - so
don't worry you're quite safe! ;>)
See's you next week.

Oakapples142 - 01 Nov 2004 10:24 - 143 of 187

Good morning Stockbunny - great start to the week. I`ve got 8 in the blue and none in the red with GBG my percentage leader. Good luck for a great week. Just booked a 4 weeks for the price of 3 in La Manga for late Jan 05 so need to pay for it. !!

Oakapples142 - 01 Nov 2004 14:44 - 144 of 187

With 1.2 mil buys and only .2 mil sells looks like MMs are trying to worry holders into selling as I can see no other reason for drop in SP

stockbunny - 02 Nov 2004 16:42 - 145 of 187

Sounds like you got a good deal there OakApples - June 05
wont be very far away in no time at all!

GBG lost ground slightly yesterday I see - I wasn't online all
day, hopefully today will have been better!

stockbunny - 02 Nov 2004 16:46 - 146 of 187

Not impressive - currently down 1.5p - I wonder if people who
came in earlier (at lows 14-15p) are now cashing in their gains...
Not very helpful to the rest of us, never mind, plenty of time
to get that holiday money together yet!
:>)

stockbunny - 03 Nov 2004 11:31 - 147 of 187

OakA - don't know if you're about but so far today GBG up a little
maybe a slight correction from last two days coming..hope so.

Oakapples142 - 03 Nov 2004 14:32 - 148 of 187

Hi Stockbunny - yes back from Christmas shopping. See what happens when you take a day off. Better today welcome back.

stockbunny - 03 Nov 2004 14:42 - 149 of 187

Up a fraction more now OakApples - couldn't quite understand the
drop back aside of profit taking earlier in the week.

Hope your Xmas shopping was successful - trying to gradually get
mine finished before end Nov - hate December and the frantic mayhem
of all the last minute panic shoppers, wall to wall Christmas music
in shops and the failing temprements of all those 'festive happy
bunnies' trying to secure the perfect present that's out of stock!!
;>)

stockbunny - 05 Nov 2004 15:28 - 150 of 187

19.75p OakApples....keep them fingers crossed!!!
(I think we are the only ones left now...)

Oakapples142 - 06 Nov 2004 09:23 - 151 of 187

I am still here. Been away for 36 hrs baby sitting!. Run up to 18th Nov from 15th may well be an indication - if there are smallish buys in these cicumstances my therory is that they are Company employees (or family and friends - what are known in business as "sweethearts") - that may be my dream world but it does work on occasions. Dont take any notice as I only bought these shares originally as GB are my initials! 25p is may sell point (this time around) and fingers crossed we will make that before Christmas. Have a good weekend.

Oakapples142 - 11 Nov 2004 08:16 - 152 of 187

Hello Stockbunny - come out of your burrow - we are off to a flyer

stockbunny - 11 Nov 2004 14:03 - 153 of 187

Arrived slightly late but will go look - thanks for the tip-off
:>)

stockbunny - 11 Nov 2004 15:50 - 154 of 187

Back to 20.5p OakApples - after briefly dipping back a fraction.
Lead up to results next week? Maybe.....
(ears firmly crossed!)

Oakapples142 - 11 Nov 2004 16:56 - 155 of 187

Oh no I always keep my ears fully open when a lady is speaking ( I try to keep my wallet closed!) Good day and held up nicely.

stockbunny - 11 Nov 2004 16:59 - 156 of 187

Defensive measures on wallets can be sensible sometimes! ;>)
Don't worry one set of ears crossed is enough normally, so yours
can rest easy - well at least we haven't lost the gain this time
at the end of the day! The truth will out next week - let's hope
it's good....

Oakapples142 - 12 Nov 2004 09:42 - 157 of 187

Unusual start to-day. IMHO MMs have got a load to sell as despite buys very much outstripping sells SP has fallen a touch.

stockbunny - 12 Nov 2004 11:35 - 158 of 187

Oh...we need upwards movement..... :>(

Oakapples142 - 12 Nov 2004 13:56 - 159 of 187

Oakapples142 - 12 Nov 2004 13:58 - 160 of 187

Sounds a bit risky - what with my back and all - are you sure no-one else is reading this BB ! - have a good weekend - fingers crossed for next weeks run up

stockbunny - 12 Nov 2004 14:01 - 161 of 187

Have a good weekend OakApples and I'll (wo)man the fort for the
rest of the day....ears crossed!

optomistic - 12 Nov 2004 14:26 - 162 of 187

Oakapples....no one reads these boards, do they Bunny ;-)

stockbunny - 12 Nov 2004 14:29 - 163 of 187

Not unless it's 3.30am they are insomniacs and bored and their
TV has broken down... and even then the lack of pictures can put them
off! ;>)

stockbunny - 18 Nov 2004 13:37 - 164 of 187

Well oakApples - not exactly the glowing report today we would
have hoped for....never mind..guess it's a case of hang on in there
for another 6 months - by which time this bunny will be loosing
patience and may be more of a mind to sell up and forget it.
Price has dropped predictably a fraction today, lets hope it doesn't
fall further.

Mack 1705 - 18 Nov 2004 13:54 - 165 of 187

groan!

must admit I had hoped to see much better numbers from URU product...only 26 customers paying 6k a head is not earth shattering and will definitely not get the SP roaring ahead...

align this with a capex cost of 14k per head for developing URU and there is clearly a long way to go to making this product profitable...

got a horrible feeling that GB is going to drift lower once the reality of this announcement hits home...

stockbunny - 18 Nov 2004 13:59 - 166 of 187

Mack are you still in this one? Don't know why but I thought you had
decided a while back to wave it goodbye!
Well all I can say is have a drink on the bunny in the tea-rooms
for comfort, not much else we can say or do right now....
(Agree with your thoughts, but hope they don't come about - price drift)

stockbunny - 19 Nov 2004 15:25 - 167 of 187

Yo Chaps wake up!
Pretty big volumes going through today, considering for GB
currently up slightly - fingers crossed........
:>)

Oakapples142 - 19 Nov 2004 15:29 - 168 of 187

Hi Stockbunny - Have been away this week on a short break holiday - had hoped GB would be paying ! - not sure what to do know I will sleep on it (mind you we have brought the two young grandchildren back with us so may be that will also be a loser).

stockbunny - 19 Nov 2004 15:35 - 169 of 187

Nice to see you back OakApples!
Have you seen the volumes today? I'm not on level 2 so can't see
if they are buys or sells but quite big numbers all the same.

Ahh grandchildren - great fun - just think all the excuses under the
sun to do all those things you are supposed to be too mature for...
and all those treats - cake, sweets, biscuits, ice-cream!!!!!!
Not to mention passing on the finer points of Monopoly - although you
may lose - kids can be ruthless with money games! :>) Enjoy yourself!!!

Oakapples142 - 22 Nov 2004 12:57 - 170 of 187

Hi Stockbunny - Nice rise for GBG this morning - thought I had better come clean and let you know that I got out a ltlle while ago at 20.15p (which gave me a tidy enough profit and helped pay the balance of selling and buying a car. May well chat to on other BBs in due course. Tomorrow I am waiting on ITU results. If your still in with GBG I`ll keep my fingers crossed for you - stock normally goes up after I have sold!!

gardyne - 24 Nov 2004 09:55 - 171 of 187

Up yesterday 8.43% with a former employee taking his options for 70,000 shares and an application for 70,000 new shares to be admitted before the end of the month.More buying again this morning.Something going on not so long ago we were down at 14p.

stockbunny - 24 Nov 2004 10:11 - 172 of 187

Shhhh...don't tempt fate gardyne!! ;>)
Let's just hope more get the urge to take up more shares!!!!!!
Agreed it's looking better!! :>)

stockbunny - 20 Dec 2004 14:26 - 173 of 187

Am I the only one left I ask myself?????
It's picking up...mid-price at 26p today!!
:>)

taquila - 20 Dec 2004 17:53 - 174 of 187

Stockbunny

No you're not on your own! Nice to see these going back up. I bought high and have added as they came down so should slide into profit in the near future - won't be selling though as I think this company has a great future.

gardyne - 20 Dec 2004 20:02 - 175 of 187

stockbunny,i am still here as well keeping a close eye on the share price creeping slowly higher.

stockbunny - 21 Dec 2004 10:09 - 176 of 187

rumour of contract with barclaycard.
chances are it could be true.
as a shareholder, I hope so as it has been a while since it has released any news

Sutre - 06 Apr 2005 14:28 - 182 of 187

Up 6.4% so far today on large volumes, spread only 1.5%
Good news about to be released?

grooverjr222 - 08 Apr 2005 09:22 - 183 of 187

Sutre, there is an article on GB in IC, good long term hold, their website is quite informative and lets hope some contracts get locked in. Sorry i do not have the article to paste for your benefit

GBG still on the move upwards again today.

grooverjr222 - 18 Apr 2005 09:12 - 185 of 187

Big drop today though

leslielipert - 27 May 2005 10:24 - 186 of 187

Big rise today. Results due 1 June.

grooverjr222 - 30 May 2005 05:48 - 187 of 187

Daily express says that there is talk of a bid and hence the sp rise but probably run up to results. Idendity fraud is big business and let us hope results warrants sp rise.
