Rothschilds Pigeon - 03 Feb 2004 20:10 - 10 of 46

Here's some news other than the roomered take-over.
I've just spent the last few days at "The Spring Fair" at the NEC, it's the last day tomorrow (Wed).
The "Royal Dualton" stand was very busy with many discussions going on with potential customers, this looked very encouraging especially if the lower Chinese manufacturing costs give an elevated profit flow.

transco - 09 Sep 2004 08:39 - 16 of 46

ANY IDEAS ON WHATS HAPPENING?

namreh3 - 09 Sep 2004 13:34 - 17 of 46

Hi Transco, there doesn't appear to be any overt news reason as to jump today but there have been some large trades today and MM's may be making a bit of lolly on the stovk. Also, traders are returning after summer break and may think RDN is undervalued given was 12p earlier in year (if my memory serves me well). Let's hope that no news is good news- for now! Regards

transco - 09 Sep 2004 14:44 - 18 of 46

Hi namreh3, Bought on a tip from redmayne & bentely months ago. lets hope things improve from here.

Kirst - 09 Sep 2004 19:25 - 19 of 46

It's approaching that time gain when RDN should be publishing some figures - this time it's their interims due on 16/09/04 ( so the company's secretary's office informs me).

I would think those that take an interest in RDN are preparing themselves for news - that the company has now ' broken even '.

That in itself would be stunning news.

On the other-hand, to actually have made a [ p r o f i t ] at the half-way stage in the year would knock a lot of people out cold.

The last lot of figures were very encouraging, but fell short by just a whisker of providing a return to profit after so many years of reconstruction and upheaval, this time (or very shortly), there's a real expectation that that they can make it into ' the black ink '.

Kirst.

transco - 10 Sep 2004 07:58 - 20 of 46

Nice one Kirst - lets hope things have improved - I must go to see the visitors centre in Stoke.
See how business is going first hand. The strong pound cant help though!

dynamicsoul - 05 Oct 2004 12:52 - 21 of 46

namreh3 - 05 Oct 2004 13:19 - 22 of 46

Any news about, dynamicsoul? The threads on Moneyam in 2003 were touting a huge uplift but this has not materialised 1 year later. Thoughts?

dynamicsoul - 05 Oct 2004 14:07 - 23 of 46

not sure on news..been asking peeps same question...

just think that chart looks good for a run up...this is the weekly version of the chart above...price has peaked its head above the 21 week ma...which it seems to like...and macd crossing up...and stochastic double bottom...

hmmm...bit of upside till chrimbo perhaps?

p.php?pid=profiledisimg&user=leeshindig&

namreh3 - 05 Oct 2004 15:29 - 24 of 46

dynamicsoul - 05 Oct 2004 19:10 - 25 of 46

namreh3 - 06 Oct 2004 12:48 - 26 of 46

dynamicsoul - 06 Oct 2004 15:02 - 27 of 46

...positive start today...offer ticking up lightly...wonder if the bid will?

namreh3 - 06 Oct 2004 15:06 - 28 of 46

I will be happier if it trickles up past 10p and holds. Watch this space and thanx for the feedback. Nice to know others on the lookout for these minnows.; ))

dynamicsoul - 07 Oct 2004 10:14 - 29 of 46

SHARE DEALINGS SPARKS TAKEOVER TALK

12:00 - 06 October 2004

Almost 600,000 of shares in Waterford Wedgwood and Royal Doulton have changed hands in the past two days amid fresh takeover talk. Speculation in the London financial markets that the Irish luxury goods group might try to snap up its rival were thought to be behind a flurry of dealing on the London Stock Exchange, with 4.3 million shares traded since Monday.

The trading of more than 3.2 million shares in Waterford helped lift the group's share price by 0.5 per cent to a closing price of nine pence yesterday.

Since the start of the week, 3.2 million shares have also been traded in Etruria-based Royal Doulton, in which Waterford Wedgwood owns a 21 per cent stake. During yesterday's trading, 1,662,500 shares changed hands in Royal Doulton, matched by a further 1,542,241 the day before.

There has long been persistent speculation about whether Waterford would try to take over the rival to its Wedgwood business.

Two years ago the Irish firm was snubbed after offering Royal Doulton 24 million for the Royal Albert brand and a loan of 12 million.

It then increased its stake in Royal Doulton but was unable to thwart its rival in raising 18 million through the City as part of its ongoing restructuring.

namreh3 - 07 Oct 2004 12:43 - 31 of 46

Very interesting Dynamicsoul. Watch this space eh! Happy hunting.

dynamicsoul - 07 Oct 2004 13:09 - 32 of 46

and this....

DOULTON GETS A LOT FROM HISTORIC SALE

STEPHEN HOUGHTON

12:00 - 06 October 2004

Royal Doulton has collected around 600,000 from the sale of more historic wares from its prized museum collection. London auction house Bonhams confirmed the firm's disposal of more than 100 rare Minton wares made 602,315 after commission.

The Etruria-based company had been expected to make at least 320,000.

Top lot was an 1880 Pate-sur-Pate vase, which fetched 47,800 - almost six times its upper estimate of 8,000.

The sale again sparked criticism of the company's management for disposing of historic works of art, although the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery bought three pieces for its collection.

Friends Of The Museum treasurer Geoffrey Snow calculated the company would receive around 540,000 after all the auctioneers' expenses and VAT were taken into account.

Mr Snow said: "Once more we've seen all these items go out of Stoke-on-Trent into collectors' hands, just to pay for about three week's losses.

"The company is losing 40,000 a day. If it could have avoided losing that money for three weeks, it could have afforded to keep them in this area."

The Hanley-based museum paid 5,500 for a Minton Majolica heron walking stick stand, 3,600 for a Minton plaque, and 620 for a Pate-sur-Pate vase.

An online catalogue of items drawn up by Bonhams showed 118 lots were to go under the hammer.

The minimum estimated total value of the wares was 318,150, with a maximum of 448,120.

Only two items remained unsold - a Majolica wall plaque, estimated at up to 1,000, and three storage jars, estimated at up to 150. However, many wares raised more than expected, including a very rare "Round Robin" teapot, which sold for 20,315 compared to an estimate of between 3,000 and 5,000.

Bonhams confirmed a second Masterpieces of Minton auction is to take place later this month.

A spokesman said: "This sale went exceptionally well. The sale room was full, and there must have been 70 people there which was quite a lot for such a sale."

She added the auction house expected a similar reaction from buyers at the second sale, due to the wares being the last of Royal Doulton's museum collection.

namreh3 - 07 Oct 2004 13:13 - 34 of 46

dynamicsoul - 07 Oct 2004 18:34 - 35 of 46

aye 40k a day supposedly...stated by the upset museum man who is sad to to see the pots go....bitter methinks....

namreh3 - 08 Oct 2004 13:13 - 36 of 46

pH 1 at least. Never mind, he is living in the past whilst we are spending are future gains. (I know who is having more fun - inaddition to the sleepless nights). Come on RDN, capitulate and put us all in the Casino in Monte!
