I hope this is signs of life--as this has been a dog I have held for years! I seem to remember a new team taking over and a change of direction for the company. anyone else with any info?

Dunskey - 01 Mar 2004 15:06 - 4 of 151

I have some of these. New company; new management and NO Stephen Dean = Credability returning = higher price. Hopefully, they can new facilities management contracts to base and provide something CB holders have not been used to. EARNINGS>

dunskey,
very astute observations. I have always thought that my bit of money invested here was `down the chute` but with recent changes I am more heartened with seeing some return.I would say more but probably libellous!!

p.s. keep an eye on cfp, which I bought at same time as crb. i felt,at that time, that both were potential winners. moreso cfp, formerly abinger investments, which Bob Geldoff had a hand in at one time I think I`m right in stating?

Looks like not much to loose but wondered has anybody done any research or know of the new directors and their current companies. Following taken from the company announcement..."I am delighted to welcome a number of key new shareholders including Paul Whight, former Chairman of Grantchester plc and current Chairman of Pradera European Retail property fund; Ethel Austin

What do you guys see as the short term price target here

Oakapples142 - 02 Mar 2004 10:13 - 9 of 151

The Spread may not be as wide as it looks. I have just purchased 93,274 at
0.511. I expect to have a bit of a wait. But I do like large holdings for little money - and it works sometimes

Dunskey - 02 Mar 2004 11:04 - 10 of 151

Snakey,Oaksapples et al.

I'm afraid that this new managenent team have inherrited a shaky peg to hang their coats on but the fact is that they a business which is capable of substancial growth in an newly emerged sector and if they capable, they will be able to provide good returns for shareholders.

I too thought this was a gonner and survial seems to be a relief and like other long suffering shareholders it will take time to adjust to the new circumstances. As far as targets go, there is very little to base any judgement on as the last set of results have little relevance to the future and the balance sheet dosen't really provide much comfort. However, there is potential but I think that the management need to have there feet under the desk for a little longer. I am not aware of the pedegree of the management team or their achievements and would welcome any information. At this stage and in the absence of any other infoprmation this is the most important factor and will be a major determanent of our future.

Before I can get a handle on my expectations I would need to see more management comment and understand how quickly they are able to sign new contracts. The half year ends at the end of this month and perhaps we may start to get some news.

Patience may provide its own reward! DYOR

Various searches under Google gave me a lot of info : especially Pradera....

that part of the fashion chain ?Part of what I like about this company is mere

This share has alot of potential and its slowly increasing without anybody really noticing. The biggest moves will come when a rumour of an acquistion comes about. I can see this happening within 3month period, it is making agressive moves.

One to watch

Oakapples142 - 06 Mar 2004 09:09 - 37 of 151

Agreed - What do you make of the current 25% spread. An ask of 60p would appear off putting to the average punter. Could there be a hidden agenda?

Socrates - 06 Mar 2004 09:36 - 38 of 151

Oakapples142
I think you have your prices a little out. The ask is currently 0.6p, if it really was 60p I'd be off to the Bahamas for the winter.

kandrews250 - 06 Mar 2004 17:12 - 39 of 151

I can not make my mind up with this one, the change of the top boys and the questions of will it or wont it fold have made me a little nervy, but it is gaining ground and I am tempted. I wonder what the price will do if an aquisition takes place? If it wasn't for the 40% tax I would have to pay I might take a punt, will watch and when the CGT zeros will probably enter. Just my luck it will jump more than 40% by then. Good luck to all who are in.

BIG players are involved in this company and great management now + good property market and huge consumer spending should ensure this company will be
one of the winners in the Property Premier league. Also, diversification within
the property market should greatly limit any future negative news in any one
particular sector e.g.if downturn in consumer spending causes shopping centre
problems will be offset by investmensts in,for example, property management. Also,

aj I know you are keen on this one right from the start of this thread and see the upside, you have also been open with your holdings. I dont think you are trying to talk this up and have maybe bottom fished this one. The problem is that you have to have faith in the new mamgement, as usual the AGM was upbeat, you would not really expect anything else, but with no real current history it is IMO still a punt. If you can get info on the new board and their achievements which show they can grow a business well that would be different. Without that in the short term there are no financials or charts to support. However if they do get the new contracts and aquisitions then they will take off and you will clean up.....Myself I may take a little bit of the action just to try the water but would prefer to buy on a break. Keep posting the ifo and views and hope you make your fortune.

Had a look for Navitas Hemway on the www. Only one find, they live on the Crewe Business Park. Apart from that, they don't even seem to have their own web site. That in itself doesn't necessarily mean anything, but not too sure why CRB's Chairman is so upbeat about an association, with what appears to be an unknown company. Happy for someone to educate me.

Plunge - 10 Apr 2004 10:28 - 101 of 151

Taken from the ADVFN Bulletin Board

Cater Bernard had delusions of becoming a mini investment bank and corporate finance house. Strategy was flawed and founder S Dean has since departed and sold his shares. Late last year new management moved in. The disposal of stake in US stockbroker Griffin followed and CB is now effectively a cash shell with a 23% holding in Dialog, a US-listed info services business.
Backed by David Williams, the company's strategy is to build a property management, maintainence and service business. The first step was an agreement to acquire a 40% stake in private maintainence firm Navitas Hemway. Also an option to buy the remainder at any point up to Oct 2004 for 788,000 - payable only if profit of at least 560,000 is achieved in any 12-month period up to June 2005. Navitas has 2 major contracts to provide maintenance services to shopping complexes, both of which are for 3 years.
Recent placings have secured 900,000 for expansion. Next on list is likely to be a professional services and commercial agency. New investors include Paul Whight, former chairman of Grantchester. The UK facilities management market is massively fragmented and is estimated to be worth 117bn - expected to grow 10% a year. CB has ambitions to create a significant business, through acquisitions.

The above is actually from this weeks IC

Socrates - 10 Apr 2004 10:59 - 103 of 151

If SD has sold his shares I am glad to hear it. The shares in Dialog (DLGG) are virtually worthless, I've been watching them a long while and they only ever seem to go South. I just hope the new direction can make an impact.

Mind you, I have to confess I bought on the strength of the shares being only a fraction of a penny, a highly speculative punt, but it could be a multibagger if CB is successful.

aj I know you like this company and have been in for a while but how long will it take before it goes... are you not better off taking your profits and investing it it a share that is on the move then return to this when it does take off. Yes you may miss out on 10% of the move but as you watch this a lot you should catch the major part of the rise. I know we all have different methods, and plese do not take this as a knock, but seems a waste to leave money sitting there for such along time, it could take months for this to move. I have this one on my watch list and will enter if and when the move takes place. I hope it does go for you but there seems little change in the business from a few months ago. lol and I hope it does go balistic and I eat my words.

ajren, Hello, I have put forward my reservations on this stock previously and once more ask you to consider, whilst emphasising it is only MHO, the following. The latest appointment to the Board is one David Williams, involved in many prior holdings with Stephen Dean, they presented as "running mates" and I would just remind you that in many Investors experience it has transpired that only one person appears to profit! I leave you to deduce.i.e. has SD gone away?? Of course DYOR. Rgds & Good Luck.
