S A W - 30 Mar 2004 18:30 - 3 of 249

THIS IS A SOS TO ALL THE MM'S CAN YOU PLEASE START TO RAISE THE PRICE OF THIS SHARE.YOU CAN'T BLAME A MAN FOR TRYING!
DOES ANYBODY WITH ANY SENSE KNOW THE REASON FOR IT'S DECLINE?

webmeister - 30 Mar 2004 19:22 - 4 of 249

bad bad bad...emarald sucks...why would anyone care for this third liner??? try using options and better shares...also you could revise/learn how to select quality instead of piddling around with pennie procrastinators..I have seen emerald underperform more times than i care to recall...Really friend, the worst thing that could happen is that you profit from emerald and therefor reenforce your misjudgement..Learn share selection ..buy a software package...paper trade and narrow your favorites using strict criterior...Regards..

I HEARD A RUMOUR OF OIL IN COLUMBIA!GOOD PROSPECTS!

proptrade - 31 Mar 2004 10:35 - 7 of 249

SAW, get real. so far they may be producing a max of 750 barrels per day. hardly anything to write home about and certainly does not require an excitement of capital letters. do your research and listen to webmeister. much bigger and better fish to watch. check out my earlier thread in this stock. rgds.

hlyeo98 - 26 Apr 2004 19:55 - 8 of 249

The price of Emerald Energy has gone up at a fast rate as its production of oil in Columbia has soared at a rocketing rate and more drilling sites are being planned soon. The company has also gone into profit last year. So I would say this company has good returns in the future. Buy when it is so cheap now - 2.2p

ckmtang - 26 Apr 2004 20:13 - 9 of 249

yes i will say it will lots to rise.

Seymour Clearly - 26 Apr 2004 22:48 - 10 of 249

Being realistisc for a moment folks, yes, if the Global energy find is reflected by Emerald's who are drilling in the same area then the prospects are exciting.

And with a new management the Emerald of old is no more. Having had such a spectacular rise over the last couple of trading days we can expect some consolidation but this certainly looks a more viable purchase nowadays than it used to be. Depends on your time frame but for T10 traders it's a volatile and speculative punt. For investors there looks as though there could be plenty more upside, but where to I don't know!

hlyeo98 - 27 Apr 2004 07:51 - 11 of 249

The uptrend will persist as the volume of shares traded was only 2nd to Vodafone yesterday trading at 92 million shares. Buy at 2.2p

ckmtang - 27 Apr 2004 08:30 - 12 of 249

any idea why it keep rising?

rkausar - 27 Apr 2004 16:57 - 13 of 249

is this the next cairn energy????

dick dasterdly - 27 Apr 2004 21:51 - 14 of 249

can see 3p before the weeks out supposdly good news horizon which will take this into orbit they were 9p before but that was before rights issue

Seymour Clearly - 28 Apr 2004 00:22 - 15 of 249

2p definitely broken now (famous last words) but I can't help thinking that there is no correlation to the company of old so comparisons with price are meaningless - not having a pop at you dick ;-)

I'm holding for 3p or more - at 3p I'll probably sell a few and keep the rest - or I might keep them all :-) Undecided.

hlyeo98 - 28 Apr 2004 13:46 - 16 of 249

I have bought more today at 2.35p

Charty...(hope u dont mind that)....will wait then, looking at prm and fto as well & just cant make up my mind, still upset at selling pci when they dipped to my stop loss week and half ago, now look!!!! Need some action soon I have an expensive car to run!!!!

STORMCALLER - 29 Apr 2004 11:26 - 22 of 249

Does the car explain your apparent obsession with oily shares ?

gordon geko - 29 Apr 2004 15:01 - 24 of 249

treading water waiting for the news cannot see 3p for the moment ?

chartist2004 - 30 Apr 2004 11:16 - 25 of 249

Just bagged 200k @ ~ 2.02, cheap at chips at the moment imho .

Doshmaker - 30 Apr 2004 11:21 - 26 of 249

chartist2004 - I hold from 1.15p and would not say buying at 2.02p is cheap as chips. This is not a normal penny share, market cap is close to 100 million. I can see these retracing to 1.5p - 1.75p before the next climb up. Spread is currently very wide as well.

proptrade - 30 Apr 2004 11:31 - 27 of 249

doshmaker, great to hear someone putting this name in perspective. the froth is simmering down in this one and i agree with you target.

ariesr - 30 Apr 2004 11:57 - 28 of 249

I've just told someone else who does transactions purely by paper and not via internet to get out of the share.

Who knows, it might stay at 2 and recover. I'm sure the chartists amongst us have a better idea what the supports are.

chartist2004 - 30 Apr 2004 12:25 - 29 of 249

Closed my 200k @ 2.07 beer money for the b/holiday :o)

Doshmaker - 30 Apr 2004 12:33 - 30 of 249

I thought you said they were as cheap as chips. Your mindset is not being altered by our views is it. DYOR and stick to your own thoughts, works most of the time for me.

amberjane - 30 Apr 2004 18:59 - 31 of 249

StormCaller, Sorry been out for a couple of days, some trying to learn more about trading.

Oily car? Very appropriate as the power steering fluid pipe just broke - 300 quid!!!! Told him I had a spare pipe from my old washing machine but he wouldnt use it. Think I should get shares in car parts!!

Love oily shares although Tullow may have changed my view, will wait and see. Diamonds and gems ummmm, PCI & PDL done me a treat. Will prob go back in to PCI.

Seymour Clearly - 30 Apr 2004 22:56 - 32 of 249

Have to confess to selling mine today @ 2.2 as my (small) profit was about to be wiped out. Seen to many that I thought were too good to not continue holding fall into a loss from a profit, so sorry folks. Might be back later if they fall further.

STORMCALLER - 30 Apr 2004 23:09 - 33 of 249

Amberjane,

Surely you can't count yourself a true oil freak unless you lost a bundle on BULA like me, can't do stones all that digging makes me feel so tired. Coincidentally my wheels recently burst a pipe on the auto' box depositing it's very expensive contents all over my brother's drive. Fortunately warranty and a Vulcan death grip on the service manager dealt with the bill.
Hope yours is sorted ok, can't abide unreliable motors.
Wary on FTO, just severely punctured it's recent support, I hold but I'm worried.
Regards
SC

amberjane - 30 Apr 2004 23:34 - 34 of 249

SC

I'm not counting myself as any sort of freak, oily or not!!!(not one I'd admit to on here anyway)

Not lost so far, beginers luck - although depends on Tullow.

Cars OK now but had lain unloved on the drive for 8 months (since leaving job) and needed cranking up, unfortunately parts had perished, as you find with anything ageing (opps getting too depressing here.)Managed to drop my oil all over the entrance to the private road, but it didnt upset the neighbours as much as when on 1st April I put a large 'breakers yard opening soon' board in the front garden! They're a snooty lot down here and couldnt resist. Ha Ha. What are your wheels and whats a Warranty? (only kidin)

Why do you still hold if your worried?? Better to get out than sink?

STORMCALLER - 01 May 2004 00:19 - 35 of 249

Amberjane,

In no particular order as I am old and, I think, probably perished.
I tend to hold rubbish, ie penny stocks etc, so worried is about the best it ever gets, but I like to play in that area because there is a perverse pleasure in seeing a 0.5p price movement change your entire economic status. With reference to FTO, comment is short term, I still believe medium term is good, China play and all that, but I am not convinced delayed results and unconfirmed Blue Sky deal shake out is finished, weekend press may be interesting, next week will give guidance and possibly buying opportunity. Car is Jaguar XJ, my only, and rapidly depreciating, asset, warranty is an item that should contain a handbook on the Vulcan death grip.

Not owned a Jag yet but been looking at the XK, just gotta wait for the shares to come in ...and come in... and come in! Failing that I could always look at an old oily one to suit!

Agree on penny shares they've done well for me, bought telewest .8 sold 2.8 (if only I'd had more to start could have got the car) and Danka business 12p sold 36p, back in at 40p and still hold. Cybit not so good but still hold.
2k for next week so will be eagerly waiting to pounce somewhere....gotta get it right, as we all say. ..enjoy the rest of the break

EEN looks like a winner!

http://orc.pennnet.com/Articles/Article_Display.cfm?Section=Articles&ARTICLE_ID=114925

- Upper Magdalena Valley. Emerald Energy plc`s Gigante 1A well on the Matambo contract area tested three intervals. The two deepest intervals flowed formation water and small amounts of heavy oil. The shallowest interval, at 15,372-15,430 ft, flowed 2,250 b/d of 33.1 gravity oil and 950 Mcfd of gas on an 80/64 in. choke. Emerald said later engineering studies indicated that the Tetuan reservoir could flow an unrestricted 6,000-8,500 b/d on reconfiguration of the well.

Now if an RNS were to confirm this EEN share holders would be sitting VERY pretty.

what the prediction for next week?

rkausar - 09 May 2004 16:23 - 73 of 249

Hi guys, get ready for some explosive growth! Emerald made a pre tax profit of just over $200k year ending Dec03, the price of crude oil at that time being $20 pb. The forcast for this year of selling crude oil was $24 pb. Now that production will soon commence from the Porto rico oil well(at 750 bpd)and due to the events in the middle east the price of crude oil has now risen to a massive $36.70 pb.
I expect some very good news for the shares within the next 2-3 weeks.

ckmtang - 09 May 2004 17:23 - 74 of 249

hlyeo98 - 09 May 2004 21:06 - 75 of 249

Ckmtang, There is your information. Don't say I did not warn u!

Analysts reckons oil price will hit $50/barrel soon
AFX
$50/barrel could be reached within weeks, says analysts to Sunday Times

Analysts warn oil prices, which reached a near 14-year high of 40 usd a barrel on Friday, could hit 50 usd in the coming weeks, said the Sunday Times newspaper.

'Fifty dollars a barrel is perfectly possible if we get the wrong sort of headlines from the Middle East,' the paper quoted Kevin Norrish, an analyst at Barclays Capital, as saying.

In the UK, petrol prices topped 80 pence a litre last week and rising crude prices, together with widening refinery margins, are widely expected to push up prices further.

The Bank of England, which publishes its quarterly inflation report this week, will say dearer oil and commodities are likely to push UK inflation towards its 2 pct target, said the paper. Economists expect the Bank, which raised the base rate from 4 pct to 4.25 pct on Thursday, to signal that further increases will be needed to keep inflation on track.

With the price of crude oil at $40 pb and eventually to $50 pb, with production to start from the second oil well very soon and with the company being in black,
i see nothing but profits. A Possible third oil well is due to be drilled later on this year.

Seymour price have forcast profits of 5m for year end Dec 05'.

Sit back and enjoy this ten bagger...

Lets be a bit more hopeful after all look at the price of Lastminute.com
What about 3.5p

kendoken - 24 May 2004 16:46 - 98 of 249

even 5p!! get a reality check this share is not goona move above its present level if it moves up even by 1p heaps of people gonna sell and take price back down.

proptrade - 25 May 2004 13:37 - 99 of 249

emerald is certainly NOT lastminute.com and I think you just have to be realistic and put this company in the perspective of some other small and midcap oils.

it has a monster mkt cap versus production so i think it requires a HUGE boost to double in price.

this name is way way too expensive to be aquired and has already had its spike from the current paultry production.

make your money really work, sell een and buy a quality growth story...for the record i am hugely bullish of ESY (Easynet)- growth, cash and s**t hot management.

protrade what do you think the prospect for this company could over the next 12 months? cheers windy

proptrade - 04 Jun 2004 16:40 - 104 of 249

i really think we have already seen the highs of the year and we will see the stock consolidate down to the 1.35 ish level and maybe have the odd spike to around where they are trading now. there is no new news and unless they sign a contract for more wildcat drilling there won't be a catalyst for a while.

best advise is look for a more dynamic name in the sector or latch on to a growth story with a company that has consistantly delivered (eg ESY).

a great weekend to all

protrade i think you mightr right about 1.35 the way they are going they will be there very shortly :-( was hoping it was going to gain ground but at the moment they seem to be slipping further down the ground, do you think it will go back 1.18 like it was a few weeks or so ago or stop soon and recover slightly?

proptrade - 10 Jun 2004 09:44 - 106 of 249

I just think the name will drift on no news for a while. They would need a major catalyst to push back towards 2 or otherwise will probably find a comfortable range between 1.20 and 1.60. if they disappoint, as EEN management has repeatedly managed to do for years, the stock could easily plummet below 1.

I maintain that unless you are an ultra long holder and put this stock in a bottom draw(which i would not advocate), there are far far better stocks out there for your cash.

Looks like they have reviewed everything on their website!

The Gigante #1A well produced 32 API gravity crude oil at an average rate of 755 barrels per day during the first half of 2004, an improvement of 5.7% over the average rate for 2003, despite an increase in the water-cut from 38% to 42% during the six month period. This improvement in production rate was principally due to the success of the chemical treatment carried out in the well in December 2003 to inhibit the precipitation of asphaltene particles within the producing reservoir and to remove any emulsion blocks that can restrict the oil production. The cumulative oil production at the end of June 2004 was 1.68 million barrels.

U.S. stock futures lower as crude prices rise
Tue 6 July, 2004 14:21

(Updates futures, adds new comments)

NEW YORK, July 6 (Reuters) - U.S. stocks futures pointed to a lower opening for Wall Street on Tuesday as investors worried about corporate profits following a jump in crude oil prices.

In addition, chip stocks could be under pressure after Conexant Systems Inc., the third-most active stock on the INET electronic brokerage in early trading, lowered its quarterly earnings forecast.

U.S. light crude rose in the first electronic trading since the weekend sabotage attacks on Iraqi oil pipelines cut exports. Crude prices, at $39.21 in New York, are also being pushed higher amid concerns about possible disruptions to Russian and Nigerian supplies.

Crude oil is a component of almost every sector of the economy, including manufacturing and transport, and higher oil prices immediately erode corporate profits.

"I see the markets starting off down because crude oil is down, Weston Boone, vice president of listed trading at Legg Mason Wood Walker in Baltimore said. "Geopolitical events are weighing on the market, and in addition we are starting earnings season -- so the question is will profits be as rosy in the second quarter?"

S&P 500 futures for the September contract fell to 1119.80, or 4.68 points below fair value.

Dow Jones industrial index futures fell 44 points, while Nasdaq 100 futures slipped 12 points.

"The reason why we are down today is the continued unrest in the Middle East and the prospects that energy prices do not seem to decline," John Person, head financial analyst with Infinity Brokerage Services, said.

"After last week's Fed rate hike, higher oil prices and slower economic indicators such as the jobs number will be the real issues investors are faced with right now," Person added.

Democrat John Kerry's decision to appoint North Carolina Sen. John Edwards as his vice presidential running mate was seen as slightly negative for the market.

"I think its probably positive for Kerry which is therefore probably negative for the market ... Wall Street is traditionally a conservative community," Boone said.

This week's Investor's Chronicle suggested that it is a good investment and more oil drilling is taking place.
Since the Campo Rico #1 well was put on long-term test in May 2004, the company's oil production has increased significantly. For the first six months of 2004 the average daily production rate was 874 barrels per day compared with an average of 714 barrels per day for the year 2003. On the 30th June 2004, production reached 1426 barrels per day.

Emerald Energy H1 production up 19 percent

LONDON (AFX) - Emerald Energy PLC reported a 19 pct increase in production in the six months to end-June to 159,000 bbl of oil, up from 134,000 bbl in the same period last year.

It said the increase was helped by bringing the Campo Rico well into production quickly. This brought current production from the company's two wells to about 1700 bopd.

Emerald's EBITDA for the first half was 902,000 usd on revenue of 4.5 mln usd compared to 251,000 usd on revenue of 3.0 mln usd.

The group said it has a strong balance sheet with net cash of 6.4 mln usd at the end of June and it is actively evaluating new exploration acreage in Colombia and projects outside Colombia.

Chairman and chief executive Alastair Beardsall said the successful start of production from the Campo Rico field supported by strength in the international oil prices demonstrates the potential of the company's existing assets. He said the acceleration of the group's drilling programmes should earn Emerald recognition as an active and successful player in the Colombian E&P sector.

Beardsall added that increased production should contribute positively to the company's future financial results, particularly at the prevailing oil prices.

LONDON (AFX) - Emerald Energy PLC said it has entered into a three-well contract with Parker Drilling Company International Ltd.

Beginning in November, the Campo Rico 2 and 3 wells will be drilled directionally from the site of the Campo Rico 1 well that has been on production since May.

The drilling rig will then drill the Vigia 1 exploration well on the Vigia prospect, 11 km from the producing Campo Rico field.

Alastair Beardsall, Emerald's chairman, said: 'The back-to-back drilling of these three new wells in the Campo Rico Block enables Emerald to save on the overall drilling costs and rapidly consolidate the drilling success achieved earlier in the year'.

Emerald Energy wins 2 exploration evaluation contracts in Columbia
AFX

LONDON (AFX) - Emerald Energy PLC has been awarded two new 'Technical Evaluation Agreements' in the Llanos Basin of Colombia, and will carry out technical studies to identify the presence of prospective exploration areas over a ten month period.

Throughout the term of each TEA, the company said it has the first right of refusal over any exploration and production contract proposed by a third party in the two areas. Emerald currently produces over 1800 barrels of oil per day in Colombia.

The Mantecal and Altamira Agreements, in which the company has a 100 pct working interest, cover areas of 1875 sq km and 2845 sq km respectively in the north of the Llanos Basin, Emerald said.

Fair chance MMs walked price up to today's news; so despite the news being just fine, a little weakness short term would not surprise me. Hence I reduced my holding in EEN, taking some profits, to plough into SYM on a quick punt on favourable outcome of trial (or settlement out of court beforehand?). I expect to be adding EEN again soon, however, ideally with profits from SYM. We'll see!

MikeHardman - 15 Nov 2004 12:31 - 172 of 249

gordo - Last news seemed to be short on details; I think there is a little nervous sentiment showing-up as the weakening price, especially today, not helped by the oil price. I'm confident it will come good in the end (very good actually), but I'm not ready to add just yet (indicators mixed). Drilling results expected in December from Campo Rico #2 might well see a speculative run-up, and if that starts in the lower part of the 125-140p area, I expect to be buying into it.
The floods in Colombia could be a factor, true; we had that some years ago with Gigante / access 'roads'.

Emerald Energy says current production in Colombia now exceeds 2,500 bopd
AFX

LONDON (AFX) - Emerald Energy PLC said it is now producing over 2,500 barrels of oil per day in Colombia as more oil flowed from its existing wells.

Campo Rico 1 hole, which started production in May, is currently producing over 1,800 bopd, it said.

'We are encouraged to see that the production from our existing wells continues to rise. Our accelerated drilling programme is on target to deliver a significant increase in production when the two new Campo Rico wells are brought on stream early next year,' said chairman Alastair Beardsall.

The group used to produce 1,800 bopd both from Campo Rico 1 and Gigante 1A.

Campo Rico 2 development well is to start production next month, while Campo Rico 3 is expected to commence production shortly after.

The rig will then be moved to drill the Vigia 1, an exploration hole, also in the Campo Rico block.

Emerald Energy Plc

Drilling Report

Emerald Energy Plc ("Emerald" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that the
Campo Rico #3 development well in the Campo Rico block in the Llanos basin of
Colombia has reached its target and is now being completed for production.

The well was drilled directionally from the Campo Rico #1 well site to a
measured depth of 11,287 ft and encountered the oil-bearing Mirador sands
approximately 2700 ft to the NNE of the Campo Rico #1 well.

After completing Campo Rico #2 and #3 the Parker 222 drilling rig will leave the
field to drill the Vigia #1 exploration well, also in the Campo Rico block, and
the two new production wells will be tested and brought onto production through
the expanded Campo Rico production system.

Alastair Beardsall, Emerald's Chairman, said: "The successful drilling of the
third well at Campo Rico has completed the initial development of the oil field
within ten months of its discovery last March. The benefit to the Company of the
recent capital raising, which gave us the ability to accelerate our drilling
programme, will be clearly demonstrated when production from the two additional
Campo Rico wells starts as expected by the end of February 2005."

Emerald Energy Plc

Investment in JSC Krasnoyarskgazprom

Contract

Emerald Energy Plc ("Emerald" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it
has entered into a conditional sale and purchase agreement with Star Capital
Research Limited ("SPA") to acquire a 25% interest in JSC Krasnoyarskgazprom
("KGP") for the consideration of 12 million new ordinary shares of 10p each in
the capital of the Company ("Consideration Shares"). OAO Gazprom ("Gazprom"), a
vertically integrated Russian gas company, holds the remaining 75% interest in
KGP.

KGP has the right to explore and produce hydrocarbons in the Sobin, Omorin and
Beryambin licence areas of East Siberia in Russia.

The Sobin licence area, where more than 50 wells have been drilled to date, is
estimated under the Russian system of reserve classification to contain C1
reserves of approximately 100 million barrels of oil(1) and condensate and 2.8
trillion cubic feet of gas(1); together equivalent to some 575 million barrels
of oil(2).

The Omorin licence area is currently being explored and, to date, 4 wells have
encountered hydrocarbons.

Beryambin is an exploration area where no wells have been drilled to the
prospective formations yet.

The Sale and Purchase Agreement is subject to the satisfaction of certain
conditions precedent by no later than 31 March 2005. Due to the size and nature
of the proposed investment in KPG, one of these conditions is shareholder
approval. Subject, inter alia, to the completion of satisfactory due diligence,
Emerald will send a circular to shareholders seeking such approval in due
course.

Alastair Beardsall, Emerald's Chairman, said: "For Emerald, this is a valuable
opportunity to make a strategic investment. East Siberia has great potential to
produce its vast reserves of hydrocarbons once export routes to Europe, China
and the Pacific are available."

Emerald is currently producing in excess of 1800 barrels of oil per day from its
two producing wells: the Campo Rico #1 well in the Campo Rico Block and the
Gigante #1A well in the Matambo Block located respectively in the Llanos and the
Upper Magdalena basins of Colombia.

(1) In the Company's opinion, C1 reserves calculated under the Russian
system of classification overstate those generally considered as probable
under the SPE criteria; the C1 reserves quoted above have been reduced
accordingly.

(2) Gas volumes have been converted using the ratio of 6,000 standard cubic

El Algarrobo Farm-In

Emerald Energy Plc ("Emerald") is pleased to announce that it has entered into
an agreement with Rancho Hermoso SA to farm-in to the El Algarrobo Association
Contract.

Subject to the approval of the Colombian state oil company, Ecopetrol, Emerald
will participate in the drilling of the El Algarrobo #1 exploration well and
will earn a 50% interest in the El Algarrobo Association Contract. It is
expected that the well will be drilled in the first quarter of 2005 at a cost of
approximately $3 million.

The El Algarrobo prospect lies approximately 35 km NW of Emerald's Campo Rico
oilfield in the Llanos Basin of Colombia and about 5 km NW of the Rancho Hermoso
oilfield, which produces light oil of 37 degrees API at individual well rates of
up to 2,500 barrels per day.

Alastair Beardsall, Emerald's Chairman, said: "The El Algarrobo farm-in
emphasises Emerald's long term commitment to Colombia. It adds another well to
our accelerated drilling programme that started two weeks ago. Being so close to
established oil production, we are very hopeful of a positive result from the El
Algarrobo exploration well."

Emerald currently produces in excess of 1800 barrels of oil per day from its two
producing wells: the Campo Rico #1 well and the Gigante #1 well, located in the
Llanos and the Upper Magdalena basins of Colombia, respectively. The Campo Rico

EEN is now well under valued.

Up to interims in June 2004 thy produced 159,000 barrels for the half year, Since have produce 408,500 plus barrels to end Dec 2004 From giante#1 and Campo Rico #1.

Capmo Rico#1 exploration well now producing 1800 + bopd, the two new wells Campo Rico#1 and #2 are production wells and should produce well in excess
of 2000bopd imho, thy start producing in Feb as per RNS so with the 4 wells
producing a approx total 6500bopd x 125 day = 812,500 from 1st march to end June 2005 + Jan and Feb Giante#1 and Campo Rico#1 total 2500bopd x 56 days
= 140,000 so approx total output till end June 2005 812,500 + 140,000 = 952,500 barrels at say $38 a barrel revenue = 38 x 952,500 = $36,195,000.

EEN are in profit got cash in bank and will be up approx 793,500 barrells oil
over same period 2003 this is a massive increase and they have another 13 wells
to drill in 2005 and this is without JSC Krasnoyarskgazprom.
From June 2004 to Dec 2004 thy produce 390,500 plus barrels against 156,384 barrels same period 2003

Hence my reasoning that thy are under valued

CAMPO RICO ASSOCIATION CONTRACT - Campo Rico Field
503 sq km; 100% working interest. Contract awarded in May 2002. Exploration period of up to six years, exploitation period of up to 22 years.
The Campo Rico contract area is in the productive Llanos basin and is adjacent to the Rancho Hermoso-La Punta and Santiago-Entrerios producing oil fields.

The Campo Rico #1 exploration well was located near the crest of the Campo Rico structure (see the "Campo Rico Field Structure " map below) and was drilled to a depth of 11,795 feet. The well was declared an oil discovery in the Mirador sands in March 2004 and was completed for production.

A jet pump was installed in the well and a long-term production test commenced in May 2004. During these tests Campo Rico #1 has been produced at gradually increasing rates that have recently reached over 1800 barrels per day.

Two further production wells have now been completed in the field, both drilled directionally from the Campo Rico #1 well site.

Campo Rico #2 was spudded on 6th November 2004 and reached the Mirador reservoir (see "Play Schematic") in early December. The well was suspended as a production well and the Parker 222 rig was skidded to drill the #3 well, which reached its target in January 2005.

Both new wells have now been completed with jet pumps and will be tested and put on production in February 2005. The Parker 222 drilling rig is now moving about 11 km to the east to drill the exploration well Vigia#1, still within the Campo Rico block but on a separate structure very similar to the Campo Rico field (see Location Map belo

Emerald Looks To Diversify But Remains Committed To Colombia
Emerald Energy is making good progress with the development of its Campo Rico oilfield in the Llanos Basin of Colombia. The company is running casing and completions on the Campo Rico-2 and Campo Rico-3 wells, which should both be producing by the end of February adding to the 1,800 barrels per day currently pumping from Campo Rico-1.

Both wells, drilled directionally from the Campo Rico-1 well site, have encountered the oil-bearing Mirador sands and although Emerald is being coy on the fields expected output, come March the number could be close to 5,500 bpd. At present oil prices, those additional barrels will add up to a very healthy revenue stream for the London-listed oil company, which only discovered the Campo Rico oil deposit some ten months ago.

Its quite a turnaround from the dark days following the catastrophic blow-out at the Gigante-1a well in the Upper Magdalena Basin in 2001/2, then the companys sole source of production. The financial fall out from that accident has taken many years to clear but following the rescue rights issue and board clearout of August 2003 Emerald appears to be back on track. Gigante-1a has been rehabilitated and production stabilised at around 700 bpd. Finances are also more stable, aided by increased production, high oil prices and an August 2004 fundraising that garnered over 9 million.

Emerald is now keen to use that cash to make up for lost time and sink some wells. After completing the Campo Rico wells, the Parker Rig 222 will move to the Vigia prospect some 8 km to the east.

Its a step out prospect and a look-alike, although it looks bigger than Campo Rico, said chairman and chief executive Alastair Beardsall. Vigia-1 is expected to spud next month and should hit target depth by the beginning of April.

The company has also beefed up its exploration portfolio in the country, signing up for two technical evaluation areas in October and the following month agreeing a farm-in to the El Algarrobo Association Contract, which lies next to existing production.

Emerald will earn a 50 per cent stake in the contract area by funding the El Algarrobo-1 exploration well, which is expected to be drilled in the first quarter at a cost of US$3 million. The El Algarrobo prospect lies about 35 km northwest of Campo Rico and about 5 km northwest of the Rancho Hermoso oilfield, which produces light oil of 37 degrees API at individual well rates of up to 2,500 bpd.

Emerald is also looking to diversify and in November 2004 acquired a stake in an exploration venture in East Siberia. Beardsall stresses, however, that this Russian investment is in no way a reflection on its commitment to Colombia.

There is always a danger of being too focused in one place and so weve looked to diversify into other countries and from oil into gas, Beardsall told oilbarrel.com. Its about building a more balanced portfolio. We still very much want to grow in Colombia.

The company is looking at projects in two other countries, added the Emerald boss. The Russian investment involves an all paper deal with Star Capital Research to acquire a 25 per cent stake in JSC Krasnoyarskgazprom (KGP) in return for 12 million new ordinary shares of 10p each. KGP, the remainder of which is held by Russian gas giant Gazprom, holds rights to explore in the Sobin, Omorin and Beryambin licence areas in Eastern Siberia. The Sobin licence, where more than 50 wells have been drilled to date, is estimated under the Russian system of reserve classification to hold the equivalent of 575 million barrels of oil.

The Omorin licence area is currently being explored and, to date, four wells have encountered hydrocarbons. Beryambin is virtually unexplored.

Beardsall, while aware of the commercial risks attached to Russian investments, is confident that the company has the experience and relationships to avoid some of the high profile problems that have afflicted fellow British E&P players in the hydrocarbon-rich but notoriously difficult country.

Russia is a place where theres a lot of discovered reserves so instead of exploration risk, the risk lies in the project timing and access to pipelines, said Beardsall. Its a different type of risk. You have to be careful doing business in any country in the world and Russia is probably a little bit more difficult but its not as difficult as most people perceive. The board here has a total of 30-odd years of experience in Russia and several of us have longstanding relationships with very influential Russian players.

Despite this confidence, the company is taking a sensibly cautious approach and has been careful not to sign up for a cash deal in Russia. We are not parting with any money and the buyer is locked into our shares for two years, said Beardsall. This makes it in both our interests to make this transaction work.

For the short term, however, investors are likely to find Colombia a safer bet

Emerald Energy (EEN)

Edward Kalfayan
15 February 2005

Why the severe undervaluation?

Why the current re-rating?

This share is very underpriced. After we began to write, the price line actually broke out sharply through the previous high of 179p, reaching 199.5p within two days.

Since November the price has been moving up within the same upward trend channel - at a rate of +140% /pa, - and on rapidly increasing volume looks likely to break out into a steeper trend on meeting the upper trend resistance line at 200/205p.

For obvious reasons we do not usually attempt to forecast share price levels but this trend change is unusually positive. By March, production, of 2500 bopd (treble the previous year), from Gigante 1A and Campo Rico 1 in Columbia, is expected to have been re-doubled by the two new wells Campo Rico 2 and 3, as they come on stream in the next fortnight.

Oilbarrel.com is expecting a total 5,500 bopd eventually from the three wells at Campo Rico, plus the original, steady, 750bopd from Gigante 1A - ie 6250 bopd selling for at least $36/barrel - thus $6.86m each month. This will be crudely +680% more than a year ago, itself by far the best figure for five years, previously stuck at 750 bpod from a single well.

The suggestion has been made that cautious EEN management would have known that the publisher of oilbarrel was forecasting 1800 bopd for each of the three wells and that the figure was therefore likely to be higher.

The deadly drilling explosion at Gigante 1 in May 2000, the disintegrating well casing and setbacks with water flooding, plus five years of low oil prices in the range $13.7 - $22 had left insufficient resources to fulfil exploration contracts, so that in 2002 valuable drilling rights had to be relinquished and $20m exploration costs written off.

The company was all but finished before the board replacement and the 6.8m
placing and rights issue of 15 Aug 2003, This was sufficient to launch a successful new drilling program, which, in September '04, was then able to make a good case for a subsequent placing and open offer at 120p to raise 9.3m and transform the future of the company.

To the average broker this is still an aged dog- not to be touched with a barge pole. EEN has however entirely changed its spots and is now unrecognisable for what it was, but this has hardly yet been noticed by the professionals. Savvy PI's have however quietly lifted the share price from 105p in August, then 130p in December, and now at 199p, when it seems to be about to break out more steeply.

The turning point for EEN was clearly the appointing of the very experienced oil man Alistair Beardsall as Chairman, and Edward Grace as FD in August 2003 with replacement of the rest of the board in Jan'Feb '04. (CVs at the end)

It usually takes a good 6 -18 months (and one report/set of accounts for H1 or FY)
for the market to notice the three signals:

that something fundamental has changed,

that the change is vastly for the better, that it is now safe to buy,

and thus, that now is the time to buy - by which time it is always a bit late.

Any minute now, the promised drilling and production reports, followed by the first prelims since the new board's radical strategy got going, will provide the City with a wake-up call. Then EVO may produce a Brokers Note more reflective of a professional adviser than the current unhelpful single sheet offered. Until brokers have an authoritative document to blame when things go wrong, they will not want to change their stance and recommend the share. This gives Private Investors still time to buy before the lemmings push the price up beyond sensible values. But that is a long way ahead.

With production in H2 likely to average around 8800 bopd, double our cautious H1 estimate of 4408 bopd - and an oil price received at $36/barrel, T/O for the year would be $87.12m; with an Operating Profit of 8.46m possible in H1, and 17.25 in H2. Capitalisation is only 97m. With heavy losses carried forward tax should be low and the PE around 4.

It is instructive to compare with Burren. Over the whole of 2005 EEN looks like
averaging at the very least 6600 bopd - 45% of the Burren 14,200 bopd average for 2004. Burren cap is today 658m, 45% of which is 296m - indicative of where EEN might be by this time next year ie x3 times its current cap of 99m.

A clearer picture will emerge with reports due on the two newly drilled Campo Rico wells in the second half of February.

Vast change in operating profit to come from March '05During H1 Cost of Sales was $15.35/barrel against an achieved average oil price of $28.28 giving a gross margin of $12.93/barrel (45.7%). But by March 2005 production will rise sharply, and with a received oil price above $36/barrel, this CoS
would leave at least $20.65/barrel (57.4%) as gross margin on sales of $3.46
m/month ie $1.99m/month.

With the new management keeping a very tight ship, Admin costs will not have risen much over 2004 if at all - say by 10% to $0.30m/month - leaving operating profit of $1.69m/month from say early April -easily sufficient to finance the cost of drilling a new exploration well each month.

At $36.barrel received, each new well should contribute $620,000/month for every 1000bopd production with expectations lying between 750 and 3000bopd per
successful well. With the two development wells Campo Rico 2 and 3 about to
produce any day now, there is some excitement ahead of the actual figures, which could add anything from 500bopd to 2000/pd from the start, and ramp up over the next 3-6 months to anything up to 3,500 - 5000/bopd.

Further drilling program

There will soon be, every month, an average of more than one well being spudded, and one well being completed. Two further exploration wells, nearby, are to be spudded this month: Vigia , only 8km to the East," a step out prospect, and a look-alike, although looking bigger than Campo Rico should hit target depth by the beginning of April" according to Chairman Alastair Beardsall;. at the end of March drilling results are awaited from Algarrobo, next to an existing field, 35km NW, where EEN has earned 50% of the output by farming in and doing the drilling. If the Vigia well is successful, EEN will quickly drill a further series in the area.

On 18 December 2003 EEN announced the award of rights in the Fortuna contract
area in the Middle Magdalena Basin covering 21,907 hectares. Emerald's initial work has identified a shallow (+/- 1,500m) Tertiary exploration target in the Lisama formation with a potential 18 mmbbls of recoverable oil. There is also a deeper (+/- 2,500m) Cretaceous accumulation of oil in the La Luna formation that has produced 0.8 mmbbl of oil and 0.3 bcf of gas to date. The La Luna is estimated to contain 19 mmbbls of recoverable oil. The first exploration well is expected to be drilled this Spring. If successful, seven further wells are planned.

The Gigante well where 'oil in place' exceeds 350m barrels but which has given so much trouble in the past, is being left to a later date when finances are more secure, when it may be re-drilled.. It continues to provide 750 bopd and the $500,000 cashflow crucial initially to reviving the business. Properly re-drilled it would have the highest output of all the wells

Strategic change

If the Gigante disaster was due to human error, those responsible have been moved on. The company is totally different in its personality. Instead of timid, slow, and ineffectual, it is now bold and quick and forceful. With the completely new Board has come a winning business model: raise cash -spend it MUCH faster on drilling more wells in the right places to multiply the cash flow - walk away from the lesser prospects to concentrate on the lowest risk/highest upside for exploratory drilling.Raise more cash and invest it to spread the territorial risk -negotiate actively and well, for additional area with lower risk and higher prospects....

General background

Over the past year Emerald's strategy has been to re-focus its exploration from the high risk, high cost for high reward areas of the Middle and Upper Magdalena Valley to lower risk, lower cost opportunities in the Colombian Llanos. The Llanos Basin is the most important area of oil production in Colombia: in addition to its two super-giants (Cusiana and Cano Limon) there are many other fields whose relatively small size (10-30 MMbbl recoverable) is more than compensated for by very high flow rates and high recovery levels.

Flow rates of up to 3,000 bopd from individual wells have been achieved in these smaller fields. These are made possible by high quality reservoirs - the pure quartz sandstones of the Carbonera, Mirador, Barco, Guadalupe Gacheta and Une formations - which all have outstanding porosity and permeability characteristics. An active regional aquifer provides water drive.

The success rate of Llanos wells basin wide is, by worldwide industry standards, very high at around 50 per cent. Well-developed export infrastructure, low production costs, and increased reservoir understanding greatly enhance the economics of Llanos developments. Also, it is a general observation that because of a combination of difficult logs, overbalanced mud, bad hole conditions and equivocal test data in the old wells, re-drills often achieve success.

The surprising Russian Deal

OIn 11 November an RNS disclosed an all paper deal with Star Capital Research to acquire a 25 per cent stake in JSC Krasnoyarskgazprom (KGP) in return for 12
million new ordinary shares of 10p each. KGP, controlled by Russian gas giant
Gazprom, holds rights to explore in the Sobin, Omorin and Beryambin licence areas in Eastern Siberia.

Russia is a place where theres a lot of discovered reserves so instead of
exploration risk, the risk lies in the project timing and access to pipelines, said Beardsall. Its a different type of risk. You have to be careful doing business in any country in the world and Russia is probably a little bit more difficult but its not as difficult as most people perceive. The board here has a total of 30-odd years of experience in Russia and several of us have longstanding relationships with very influential Russian players.

The company has been careful to avoid a cash deal in Russia, and the buyer is
locked into EEN shares for two years so it is in the interests of both to make this transaction work.

The Russian deal which brings in global heavyweights like Shafranik chairman of the Russian Council of Oil Producers, and head of Soyuzneftgaz, as well as
previously Yeltsin's Minister of Fuel and Energy, and a 25% share of a Gazprom
subsidiary contains more than meets the eye. What's in it for Gazprom, who receive no cash - just 12m shares in EEN? If it is access to S.America then Gazprom must be anxious to put some weight behind Emerald.

It has been said that the same people as are involved in KGP have bought into First Calgary Petroleum (FPL) a 1400+ company Their intentions are said to be to build Emerald into a much bigger company than FPL.

Emerald's new controlling shareholders appear to have very ambitious plans.
Emerald CEO Alastair Beardsall is also heavily involved in First Calgary, whose
shares have gone from 50p three years ago to 10.30 today and is now said to be in merger talks.

The value of this large and mysterious deal is long term and is not yet reflected in the EEN share price.

Important RNS notices are expected any day as the Campo Rico wells come on
production. The report on these wells will help to firm up forecasts for 2005, and if we can we will update this coverage asap

Thanks DFGO - very interesting. We'll all do very well out of their Columbian interests. The Russian angle is intriguing - the 12m shares issued to them is already part of the 49.53m shares in issue, you say - hence their effective "controlling" 24.2% interest. Let's hope they don't want to buy us out too early!

Look forward to drilling report and results

Operations update and news on Russian transaction

Emerald Energy Plc ('Emerald' or the 'Company') is pleased to provide the
following news on the Company's activities:

COLOMBIA - Exploration

Campo Rico Association Contract: Llanos Basin.

The Vigia #1 exploration well is currently drilling below 10,600 ft. When
the well reaches its planned total depth of around 11,000 ft the well will
be logged and its hydrocarbon potential evaluated.

Algarrobo Association Contract: Llanos Basin.

The drilling of the El Algarrobo #1 exploration well has been unavoidably
delayed due to unseasonable weather having prevented the construction of the
drilling location and access road. The Company now expects this well to be
drilled later in 2005.

Fortuna Association Contract: Middle Magdalena Valley Basin.

The Company is finalising the choice of location and program to drill one
or more exploration wells in the Fortuna block in 2005.

COLOMBIA - Production

Campo Rico Association Contract: Llanos Basin.

Campo Rico well #1 is currently producing oil at 1,750 bopd.
Campo Rico well #2 under test produced 16degrees API gravity oil at a rate of
650 bopd from the upper M1 zone of the Mirador sands, however it is believed
that water production from the lower M2 restricted the test oil flow. When
the Parker 222 drilling rig has completed work at Vigia #1, it will return
to Campo Rico and re-complete the #2 well to reduce the water influx.
Campo Rico well #3 under test produced 16degrees API gravity oil from three
separate zones in the Mirador sands; the M3 sand produced at a rate of 250
bopd, the M2 sand at a rate of 1,100 bopd and the uppermost zone, the M1
sand, at a rate of 1,700 bopd. Initially Campo Rico #3 will be produced from
the M1 sand, the zone currently being produced at Campo Rico #1. The well
will be placed on production by the end of March 2005.

Matambo Association Contract: Upper Magdalena Valley Basin.

Gigante well #1A is currently producing at approximately 725 bopd.

The Company's wells are currently producing oil at approximately 2,475 bopd.

RUSSIA

On 11 November 2004 the Company announced it had entered into a Sale and
Purchase Agreement to acquire 25% of JSC Krasnoyarskgasprom from Star Capital
Research Limited. The Company remains fully committed to acquire this
significant interest in this project. However the Company has been advised by
Star Capital of a potential capital restructuring of JSC Krasnoyarskgasprom by
OAO Gasprom who hold 75% of JSC Krasnoyarskgasprom. Until the details of this
restructuring are known, and the Company is completely satisfied with any
possible implications of the restructuring, the Company will not complete the
proposed transaction. The Company and Star Capital have agreed to amend the
long-stop date to complete this transaction to 31 December 2005.

2004 RESULTS

The Company expects to announce its results for the year ended 31 December 2004
on 15 April 2005.

Alastair Beardsall, Emerald's Chairman, said: 'The drilling programme in
Colombia is producing positive results; the increased level of production at
current world price for oil is having a significant and positive impact on the
Company's cash flow. By the end of this month the Company's Colombian fields are
expected to be producing over 4000 bopd, with a further increase expected when
Campo Rico #2 has been re-completed.'

'bopd' means barrels of oil per day

Emerald Energy Plc ('Emerald' or the 'Company')

Drilling Report

Emerald is pleased to provide the following update:

The Company has completed the drilling of Vigia #1, an exploration well some 11
km to the east of the Campo Rico field, to test the hydrocarbon potential of a
structure identified by seismic acquired in 2003. The well was drilled to a
depth of 11,120 ft.

During the initial drill stem tests, the well produced 16 degrees API crude oil
from two separate zones. Under natural flowing conditions the well produced at a
rate of 440 bopd from the Une sand and at a rate of 260 bopd from the Lower
Gacheta sand.

Approval will be sought for a long-term production test of Vigia #1 that will
permit early production from this well. The long-term test production will be
carried out using a downhole pump that will increase the production rates
achieved during initial tests significantly. Following the completion of Vigia #
1 for long term testing, the Company will use the Parker 222 drilling rig to
drill the Vigia #2 appraisal well.

Alastair Beardsall, Emerald's Chairman, said: 'The discovery of the Vigia field,
just 11 km away from the producing Campo Rico field, will give Emerald a
significant increase in oil production and an opportunity to use the experience
we have gained in the development of the Campo Rico field.'

stockdog - 13 Apr 2005 08:01 - 236 of 249

Nice one hlyeo98.

Campo Rico #1-3 will be currently/soon producing 4,825 bopd (when #2's water problem is fixed) according to the last drilling report. The Une sand (probably produced first, followed by the lower, lesserGacheta sand) will add, say, up to another 575 with improved production to make a total of 5,400 bopd a nuice increase of 12% on exisitng output into an upward trending oil price.

Little, by little, by little . . . . as Mick Jagger used to sing.

This is a stock that trades on optimism, figures and statement were both upbeat as you say, but to a degree, "buy on the rumour sell on the news," and in truth while positive, does the news justify the inflated share price, not really, imho.
Still in. but only as a punt.

stockdog - 26 Apr 2005 12:59 - 240 of 249

I have to say Alistair Beardsall and Co seem to be on a good roll with their Columbian operation. Just need to sort out their Siberain interests, or withdraw from them entirely, which might be better in the mid-term for cashflow and concentration on the current prospects in S. America.

The follwing RNS is cheering news.

SD

LONDON (AFX) - Oil exploration group Emerald Energy PLC said it has been awarded two so-called Technical Evaluation Agreements in the Llanos Basin in Colombia.

"The award of the Cachama and Las Brisas TEAs is a further positive step towards increasing Emerald's portfolio of exploration acreage in Colombia," said Emerald chairman Alastair Beardsall. "In the highly prospective Llanos basin we now have four TEAs covering a total of over 9500 square kilometres in which we have secured the first option on future Exploration and Production Contracts without having to commit substantial funds for a seismic or drilling programme at this stage."

The agreements have a term of 10 months during which Emerald will carry out studies designed to identify the presence of prospective exploration areas within the basin.

Emerald said it may then apply to the National Hydrocarbon Agency of Colombia for exploration and production contracts for any prospective sites for drilling.

I like these almost as much as SEY, but I wish they'd resolve their Krasnoyarskgasprom JV which I feel is acting as a drag. Meanwhile, their Columbian operations look great.

Having just bounced off 135p support level up through 200dma and downward moving 25dma, it is now challenging 50dma. Hope it can hold above 200dma uuntil the shorter dma's have time to turn upwards again. Then it should motor - or not! We'll see, but it's fundamentally a good business selling into a still good oil price.
