Welcome to Alan English (Greystone)

Bullshare - 03 Aug 2004 13:17

I am very pleased to inform everyone that Alan (Greystone) has joined MoneyAM as our new City Editor, his role in due course will also include hosting the daily traders threads.

I have known Alan for many years and consider him, like many others do, to be the Grandfather of Bulletin Boards. His wise and balanced approach to his postings and commentary has been something that has been valuable to both established and newcomers ever since the beginning of the financial bulletin board communities( oh those ESI days!).

In welcoming Alan, I would also like to thank Martini who has been creating the Traders Threads each day since Crocs sad death.

Welcome Greystone and good luck with the traders thread

Juzzle - 03 Aug 2004 13:46 - 3 of 46

Aha! They seek him there, and find him here ;o)

Sputnik - 03 Aug 2004 15:52 - 4 of 46

Best of luck Alan, no matter what rubbish and inuendo is flying around the BB's you have always kept the peace and given an unbiased view.

dominic simpson esq - 03 Aug 2004 16:42 - 5 of 46

Welcome Alan
ds :-)

Greystone - 03 Aug 2004 17:38 - 6 of 46

Thank you all for the welcome and to MoneyAM for the opportunity to join their team. I look forward to a long and happy time here, amongst many long-standing friends and many new ones.

I must say that, after two days in the new job, I am just beginning to realise what a task it is. I'm sure it will become easier as I progress but right now I feel a little shell-shocked.

When I have persuaded the tupperware tycoon to talk to me again, I will plan the process of taking over his role on the Traders Thread. It is quite an act to follow. I only hope he will forward me weekly copies of the Deddington News Letter so I can keep abreast of the really important stuff going on in the world.

I want to be as accessible here as I can, so please feel happy to mail me at
alan@moneyam.com if there is anything you think I ought to be aware of. ;-)

Abbie2u - 03 Aug 2004 18:01 - 7 of 46

As they say on Wall Street/n.y.s.e
if this guy is so smart at stockpicking why is he not a multi-billionaire
instead of talking/writing.

Alan

Welcome - looking forward to your input

Kayak - 03 Aug 2004 18:19 - 9 of 46

Abbie2u, you're beginning to sound a lot like ajren. You are obviously unfamiliar with his writings: Greystone has to my knowledge never picked stocks.

Martini - 03 Aug 2004 18:20 - 10 of 46

Looking forward to the commentary Al.

Abbie2u - 03 Aug 2004 18:32 - 13 of 46

Kayak,
I disliked ajrens neverending aggression but because he/she/it was aggressive
does not financially devalue his/her/its postings.ALL that should matter is we
make money and being friendly/chatty/nice is a pleasant bonus.

chocolat - 03 Aug 2004 18:36 - 14 of 46

Gosh, K - looks like I've been a bit slow on the uptake there.

teletigger - 03 Aug 2004 18:46 - 15 of 46

Well...Abbie2u should be tinned. Says what it does on the ....
Adieu....
regards as per.

I think readers have misunderstood what I said.I am not Ajren in disguise.
I merely feel that nearly everything he/she/it said was right. The way he/she/it
said it should be irrelevant.Am I the only one on the board that thinks
making money is the only focus and personalities should be irrelevant e.g.one
goes to a lawyer for legal advice and not because he/she smiles ?I have no
idea if greystone is a lovely person or mass murderer. My only interest is if
he can help me make money. It is obvious he cannot because if he could he would
be a multi millionaire and not on Moneyam.

chocolat - 04 Aug 2004 12:16 - 26 of 46

No, you're not the only one to think that way, Abbie2u. One other poster springs to mind.

K - don't wait for me ;)

Abbie2u - 04 Aug 2004 12:21 - 27 of 46

Incidentally,I do not post under two/three/four names.

Gausie - 04 Aug 2004 12:29 - 28 of 46

Don't worry/fret/agonize over it Abbie2u/ajren/twat. I am delighted/pleased/thrilled to see you post/contribute/write on moneyam/advfn/toilet-walls.

Gausie/gausie

scorpion - 04 Aug 2004 12:52 - 29 of 46

Alan: Welcome . Nice to see you after all this time.

Abbieren: Your spelling/style lets you down badly, your multiple persona is so easy to see though.

So are you saying that for you as ajren or abbie2 the only people you think that should post on moneyam should be millionaires as you would listen to them and then you say if they were that rich they would not post.

So where do you fit in, you either talk bollocks as you are not a millionaire or you are a millionaire in which case you should not be on here.

Time you went from am by your logic.

Kayak - 04 Aug 2004 13:08 - 30 of 46

Roflmao Gausie/gausie.

Kayak/mass murderer(incognito)

Abbie2u - 04 Aug 2004 13:10 - 31 of 46

Gausia/Scorpion

Are toilet walls/Bollocks appropriate language for a financial site ? I suggest
MoneyAm bar you from the board unless you are prepared to communicate in a
civilised manner.Do you use such language every time a person disagrees with
your opinions ?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 04 Aug 2004 13:12 - 32 of 46

Guys,

Please all calm down this thread is to introduce Greystone to you all, and not for personal criticism.

Thanks

Ian

Abbie2u - 04 Aug 2004 13:25 - 33 of 46

Hi IanT,
This is a financial site and my only consideration is can Greystone help me
make money.I have NO interest in whether he is a nice guy or mass murderer :
and neither should anyone else.I request you bar EVERYONE that uses toilet/
bollocks/etc language.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 04 Aug 2004 13:29 - 34 of 46

Abbie2u,

Yes it is a financial site and one important part of any financial site or any investor/traders working day should be access to news.

Greystone is here to supply news stories that may or may not be of interest to you or someone else using the site, but it is a facility that we offer.

I hope that the combination of facilities provided by this site helps those who use it to become wealthier.

I think we have all made our points of view very clearly, so matter closed.

Ian

Velocity - 04 Aug 2004 13:31 - 35 of 46

Only you can help yourself make Abbie.

Good luck Greystone, bit of a baptism of fire by the looks of it :-)

Abbie2u - 04 Aug 2004 13:39 - 36 of 46

Ian,

Are you going to ban people that use Bollocks language ?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 04 Aug 2004 13:39 - 37 of 46

Abbie,

I will take the decision as to when I am going to ban anyone from this board - this matter is now closed.

supermum - 04 Aug 2004 15:57 - 38 of 46

Alan - I see that you and I both hold our original names as on a moneyam competitor.. LOL
Welcome!!!

SM

Greystone - 04 Aug 2004 16:05 - 39 of 46

supermum - I do like consistancy! :-) I hope the boat building is still going to plan.

Even though I'm almost a multi-millionaire now, I do like to keep up with what the poor people are doing. LOL :-)

Alan

Velocity - 04 Aug 2004 17:04 - 40 of 46

You are in the right place then :-))

snoball - 04 Aug 2004 23:56 - 41 of 46

I dunno Greystone. All was quiet and peaceful until you came here.
Welcome.

Money J Penny - 05 Aug 2004 10:21 - 42 of 46

This is my maiden post here...didn't see any need to post before, but I am breaking my silence just to say: Welcome to you, Alan English (Greystone! What a noble name, so may your reign be long, vibrant, and happy. All the best.

Now I shall be off, back to my Yellow Diamond Castle.

hercy - 19 Aug 2004 18:26 - 43 of 46

Good to see your name up on the screen again Greystone. As a former ADVFN let down user your articles were always interesting. With the demise on the Chat room we have moved on to pastures new. The old crew can be found on www.ensignsoftware.com/download.htm under UK Traders. Good luck in your new role.http://www.ensignsoftware.com/download.htm

teletigger - 19 Aug 2004 20:21 - 44 of 46

Hmmmm....good old user friendly......new pastures.....hmmm...fine.
when it's working properly.....let us know.

DukeOfMilan - 20 Aug 2004 19:25 - 45 of 46

Mr English,
Like you I am a recent arrival at this site but I have been here long enough to appreciate the efforts of Mr Martini on the traders thread a tough act to follow. All the hype from your friends here may prove something of a hindrance having raised expectations greatly. I hope you succeed in your new endeavour but when will the first edition of your new traders thread appear?
