Those of us in the south, in possession of maps that stop at Watford with a warning "Beyond this point there be Dragons" are very happy at the bounty bestowed upon our northern brethren, but what of us?

DOM

MightyMicro - 18 Aug 2004 00:56 - 3 of 85

You have to plead for another Southern meeting, arranged in London, with all the pomp and circumstance that attends such grand events. It takes some time to arrange, what with the Sovereign having to halt all the traffic at Temple Bar to receive the Sword of the City as she arrives to attend the meeting.

And it's always a white tie do, damned uncomfortable. The provincial meetings are always so much more, well, relaxed.

chocolat - 18 Aug 2004 01:00 - 4 of 85

Well I'm going to give my white tie an airing anyway..

MightyMicro - 18 Aug 2004 01:14 - 5 of 85

Very fetching, I'm sure, Chocolat. And just where do you wear it?

IanT(MoneyAM) - 18 Aug 2004 07:10 - 6 of 85

Duke,

We organise these around the country throughout the year and had one in london about 3 or 4 months back - we will return maybe next year now, so keep your eyes on these boards for any announcements.

Ian

jj50 - 18 Aug 2004 12:46 - 7 of 85

Ian. This is in the South if you live in Scotland!! Will you be heading up here some time or shall I make the voyage down to Clitheroe?

Jennifer

IanT(MoneyAM) - 18 Aug 2004 12:48 - 8 of 85

Jennifer,

We do these events about 5 or six time a year and have been in Scotland before now, but probably won't be back there until next year now - but you would be more than welcome in Clitheroe if you can make it.

Just let me know.

You may notice that the venue has changed from the Consevative club to The Swan And Royal hotel which Lancslad has kindly secured for our day.

I have put the contact details and the web address in the first post on here and there are directions on their website (but if you came last year to the Con Club, you will be able to find it as it is literally opposite.

Thanks

This will be at Emporium in Clitheroe, time to be confirmed. Payment for the meal will be on an individual basis, but can I ask that if you wish to attend, please post here so that I can keep an updated list for lancslad so that he knows the numbers going and can book the appropriate space.

Any questions, let me know,

brain2brain - 26 Aug 2004 10:02 - 30 of 85

Ian, on a totally different tack, I am having difficulty in understanding some of the figures shown in my stockwatch and would very much appreciated some clarification if pos.

AFE is showing a mid price of 14.00. Its high and low for the day are 14.20!!!!!!!!!!! and the open and close values are 14.00.

In a similar vein AFG is showing mid price 5.00 and high and lows of 4.5. Open and close values are 5.0.

These values do not seem to match what was happening before the upgrade a few weeks ago. Could you please help.

B2B

PS Sorry if this has been asked earlier. I have just returned from my hols.

IanT(MoneyAM) - 26 Aug 2004 10:09 - 31 of 85

brain2brain,

Just taking a quick look at these and it would appear that with AFE there have only been 2 trades - both at 14.20 therefore the high and low are the same.

This is also the case for AFG which has only had one trade today.

If you need any more info, can you please E mail me ian@moneyam.com, so I can keep this thread just for the traders day sign ups?

Thanks

Ian

If you boys and gals need some light entertainment on the day then I'm available for half price just coz your fellow traders and all, yes siree...

Any special requests or dya'll just want my biggest hits?

Tumble off the sofa
And stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
Yawnin', stretchin', try to come to life...oh yeehh
Jump in the shower
And the blood starts pumpin'
Out in the pits
The trading starts jumpin'
And folks like me on the job from 9 to 5

Chorus
Tradin' 9 to 5
I'm a tradin for a livin'
Barely gettin' by
It's all takin'
And no givin'
It just bends your mind
And they never give you credit
It's enough to drive you
Crazy if you let it

9 to 5, all the discipline no emotion
You would think that I
Would deserve a fair promotion
Want to move ahead
But the markets won't seem to let me
I swear sometimes that they're all out to get me
Mmmmm...

They let your dream
Just a' watch 'em shatter
You're just a step
On the markets greasy ladder
But you got dream it'll never take away

In the same boat
With a lot of your friends
Waitin' for the day
Your ship 'll come in
And the tide's gonna turn
An' it's all gonna roll you away

2nd Chorus
Tradin' 9 to 5
I'm a tradin for a livin'
Barely gettin' by
It's all takin'
And no givin'
It just bends your mind
And they never give you credit
It's enough to drive you
Crazy if you let it

9 to 5, yeah, they got you where they want you
There's a stoploss somewhere
And you think that this will help you
It's a rich man's game
No matter what they call it
And you spend your life
Takin money out yer wallet.

The trades for Antonov on 23-24th Sept don't add up either.
There were a couple of trades for about 1.6 million shares each, both going through after the close of trade where they are less likely to be noticed, and at prices above normal. These don't appear on your running totals either.
