mojo47 - 05 Sep 2004 12:19

I bought sbry share about 2 months ago when (i thought)green was lookin at them and i was told no he is a food man, ok i said now someone in america is looking at them any one got a clue whats going on I am up a little bit on them but could do with selling them soon if nothing is going to happen need the money to put someplace else Thanks for any information

Seymour Clearly - 05 Sep 2004 13:20 - 2 of 100

Rumours only at the moment I'm afraid. Your guess is a good as anyone's. If you're going to need the money, then get it out whilst it's in profit. What will you do if it goes the other way? If you will need the money in the near future then the stock market is not the place for your money - sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick.

Buy the rumour, sell the fact is the old adage.

daves dazzlers - 14 Sep 2004 12:51 - 3 of 100

see that wallmart statement has done nothing for this , still a long for me this one, 2 holding, bought for under current price,,,,,,just !

seawallwalker - 14 Sep 2004 15:46 - 4 of 100

My thoughts are still with a surprise buy out by Carrefore.

I have been know to be called 'Often Wrong'.

seawallwalker - 26 Sep 2004 09:46 - 5 of 100

mojo47 - 27 Oct 2004 11:43 - 11 of 100

Hi daves dazzlers, I am still holding the shares what your thoughts on the price of them say next month or so. Is their any interest in them from anyone in the take over world. thanks |

daves dazzlers - 27 Oct 2004 13:22 - 12 of 100

Mojo ,who know`s what goes on !! Happy to hold as they dont owe me much ,a little over 5% thats all . In my view if they where going to bomb they would of gone by now,the floor of the share price is about 2.50 , then people see it for what it is value . There must be interest in it,just look at there property and what would that be worth,,as for the share price a month from now,10% either way,,with no good news story , with a good news story a nice profit.

Just my view,but good luck.

daves dazzlers - 27 Oct 2004 16:14 - 13 of 100

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now why on earth have Brandes done this with a lame duck outfit like Sainsbury?

I don't usually buy only on takeover spec....but i've made an exception with these.

daves dazzlers - 15 Nov 2004 18:00 - 29 of 100

Me to stan, held these since the summer 2 holdings on an average price of 2.65,,sweet.
Property alone worth a few quid and theres always a chance , be lucky , nothing ventured nothing gained.

Stan - 15 Nov 2004 18:13 - 30 of 100

Strange that they haven't moved the price today Dave, but there you are...time to sit and wait.

ATB

Stan.

daves dazzlers - 15 Nov 2004 18:25 - 31 of 100

Well it can only be good for the small investor, brandes must have some faith in sbry,if its a recovery punt,if its for other reasons,,who knows.
I am just going to sit tight, and happy to hold.

daves dazzlers - 17 Nov 2004 07:42 - 32 of 100

The day of realism, seems about right to me,make the best of a bad supermarket somebody!!!!!!!!!!!!please.

Happy to sit tight , looks a comfy chair.

seawallwalker - 17 Nov 2004 07:46 - 33 of 100

I don't know if this commentry was missed, but I will repeat it.

From Bloomberg today.

"Losses were less than most analysts expected".

Surely there is a bit of comfort there holders?

Maybe the price will rise as the expected losses would have been written in to the price.

daves dazzlers - 17 Nov 2004 07:50 - 34 of 100

SW your right there its in the price & more.

daves dazzlers - 19 Nov 2004 08:26 - 35 of 100

Still going north, like a hgv in the fog.

Stan - 02 Dec 2004 18:13 - 36 of 100

Falling by the day these, patience required I suppose...or get out?

But there again why did Brandes buy some?

daves dazzlers - 02 Dec 2004 19:51 - 37 of 100

Evening stan, seems there`s more staff than shoppers these days, but there`s always the property value , must be a few quid . Never been a fan of let the trend be your friend, so its a hold for me.

seawallwalker - 02 Dec 2004 21:50 - 38 of 100

takeover coming sure as the number 9 bus.........

daves dazzlers - 03 Dec 2004 14:40 - 45 of 100

daves dazzlers - 12 Dec 2004 18:01 - 47 of 100

Salmon/kippers,there all the same sw,,,just different ends of the price scale.
Plenty in the papers about this one, still a hold for me and at 2.65 average price for my 2 holding, not to bothered about falling sales,,thats why i bought,if it was ringing the tills like tesco,,it would be 4.00+ ..

Stan - 12 Dec 2004 18:09 - 48 of 100

Fair enough Dave but I'd still like to see some action before Christmas.

Edit: I don't suppose that this Is going to help It short term either.

The UKs biggest supermarkets are being investigated over allegations that online shoppers are being overcharged, the Sunday Times reports.

The Office of Fair Trading, the governments has this weekend launched an inquiry into the online services of Tesco and Sainsburys, according to the paper.

daves dazzlers - 12 Dec 2004 20:10 - 49 of 100

Agree about that stan i also here they are not to happy with the people who run the reward card scheme dont know who true that is , or how it mite effect sales volume but i no people that have cut up there cards including myself ,

daves dazzlers - 21 Jan 2005 09:01 - 57 of 100

Still upward movement going on.

brianboru - 26 Jan 2005 15:30 - 59 of 100

Sainsbury shares are up 7p to 285p on speculation that a 4% stake is being placed in the market at a premium to the market. The stock has been on bid alert for some time, even going so far as to appoint a specialist team just in case.

Good luck to those aboard! Seem very pricey if one doesn't materialise but there does look a fair chance!

Stan - 26 Jan 2005 15:39 - 60 of 100

Held these things for over 2 months (hopeing for some bid news) then 5 days after I get out the required news, Raised eyebrows!

What timing...still good luck Dave and well held.

daves dazzlers - 26 Jan 2005 22:27 - 61 of 100

daves dazzlers - 01 Feb 2005 13:30 - 64 of 100

Hi mojo,hows tricks ?

No secret mo i just look for some value & low risk holdings, theres plenty about if you no what your after. As to sainsburys who knows whats going on in reality behind the scenes,290 is a crucial figure with the market going forward in general,if buyers get on board in the next 4/6 weeks at that figure,as i see it things look good medium term thats just my opinion.

{Watch out for next week bound to be bad press for sainsburys,,,,joke}.

daves dazzlers - 03 Feb 2005 13:37 - 65 of 100

Well, it's been on the cards for a while - just hadn't quite known when all the bid spec would be revived. It was a nice-little-earner for a time last year. This was released today:

Sainsbury says can't comment on market speculation
AFX

LONDON, Aug 28 (Reuters) - British retailer J. Sainsbury's said on Thursday that it could not comment on market talk of bid interest in the supermarket group.

'We can't comment on market rumour or speculation,' a spokeswoman for the company said.

Earlier, shares in the grocer had jumped after traders cited market talk of bid interest at 500 pence per share.

Guess Sainsbury will have to follow suit....

Tesco said it will slash prices by 50% in the latest round of discounting to hit the retail sector.

The supermarket chain said the sale, which starts on Friday, would focus on Christmas essentials and gifts.

Britain's biggest grocer said it was cutting prices early on around 1,000 items in response to customers' reluctance to purchase items which would later be discounted.

Commercial director Richard Brasher said: "Some say that a bit of the pleasure they usually get from buying gifts has gone in the current climate.
