ntx flying on news of mobile phone speakers

Juzzle - 07 Jan 2005 09:51 - 2 of 46

draw?epic=NTX&period=1D&size=Medium

Company confirms it is preparing an announcement. Presumably required to wait till DoCoMo/NEC address Consumer Electronics Show vistors in Las Vegas in a few hours time.

Barry Harris - 07 Jan 2005 10:41 - 3 of 46

ouen

where can i find the info you got on NTX

Juzzle - 07 Jan 2005 14:55 - 4 of 46

Barry - try this link
http://www.nttdocomo.com/presscenter/pressreleases/press/pressrelease.html?param[no]=519

Particularly note three things -

a) when a phone with new features is announced, it usually takes a while before it is adopted and badged by network providers; but that's what NTT-DoCoMo is - so it's already got that far.

b) the NTX bosses note that five phone companies are involved. So this could just be the first of a string of announcements to follow in the coming weeks.

c) it isn't the likely revenue from this particular deal (in royalties from DoCoMo for every phone sold) that is bumping up the share price, but the long awaited evidence that phone companies take NTX seriously and will actually adopt the technology worldwide. It is a turning point in terms of credibility.

gra1969 - 07 Jan 2005 15:15 - 5 of 46

guys please please go to the other side loads of info on there for you
a-d-v-f-n!

Barry Harris - 07 Jan 2005 21:15 - 6 of 46

Thanks for that info Juzzle. Have being buying and selling these shares since they were called Verity and sold some of them when they reach 27. Made some good money then. Does anyone see the sp going that direction again?

gra1969. I am new to these sites ("threads" I think you call them) so trying to pick up some of the jargon.
whats advfn and how do I see it

cavman2 - 07 Jan 2005 21:22 - 7 of 46

Barry go to www.advfn.com theres alot of crap barmy posters who spend their life insulting people but there is a filter button to use. My filter list is as long as your arm.
But there are some knowledgeable posters on there, should'nt take long to find them.

Barry Harris - 07 Jan 2005 21:36 - 8 of 46

cavman2. Will try your rec ("crap barmy posters who insult people") why would they do that? Have you been insulted by those posters?

Dil - 08 Jan 2005 00:14 - 9 of 46

They've been here before , trade what you see and forget about dreaming.

MightyMicro - 08 Jan 2005 00:31 - 10 of 46

Like dreaming about Wales for the World Rugby Cup . . .

However -- a good few years ago I met the guy that owned this thing at the time -- from the conversation I had with him, it was a solution looking for a problem, in some ways. But great technology, and it might just make it.

Apart from the Wales thing, I agree with Dil ;-)

cavman2 - 09 Jan 2005 13:09 - 11 of 46

Barry,
I for the life of me cannot understand why a person would want to sit in front of a PC when they have no interest in the share causing havoc but they do.
I would of thought they would have something else to do with their life, some of the post are so bad that ADFVN delete their posts before any body can read them but they still try.
I don't post much on there but check it every day because as I say you can get some good info and alot of people do the same.
Check the FAR3 thread.

cavman2 - 09 Jan 2005 13:13 - 12 of 46

Barry,
Also have a look at "Share Forum" a cracking site, imho the best there is but have a look and form your own opinion.

Here it is................

Future looks flat at NXT

Mobile phones boost for NXT

Whatever NXT? Few shares jump 69pc in a single day, but then few have fallen quite so far as NXT without disappearing entirely. Even after yesterday's leap, they are still uncomfortably in the 90pc Club.

The rise followed an order from NTT of Japan for its mobile phones. This may be the breakthrough NXT's fans have been awaiting for so long, but then again, it may not be. They dream of turning every flat hard surface into a loudspeaker, whether it be a laptop, car windscreen, or mobile phone. Rather than a groundbreaking technology, flat speakers now look like a clever gimmick. With just 5m of development capital left and likely losses of that much this year, NXT seems doomed to become little more than an interesting novelty, perhaps in the tradition of the Rabbit mobile phone or the Squarial.

Continued progress for NXT at CES 2005

Huntingdon, 10 January 2005: The annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held last week in Las Vegas, Nevada, once again provided NXT with the opportunity to demonstrate progress, and further underlined the commitment of the company's licensees.

This year's CES saw a number of NXT enabled products make their debut, as licensees grasped the opportunity to utilise the show's early position in the calendar to introduce their latest NXT based models, including;

TEAC's MC-DX20B - a vertical loading 2.1 CD system utilising NXT's flat panel technology for the two satellite speakers. Capable of MP3 playback, the system's black finish and motorised door loading mechanism are the perfect complement to the NXT technology the speakers employ.

Sonic Impact demonstrated a range of NXT based products including a new version of the SI5 speakers. Previously, the SI5 comprised of a separate amplifier and two speakers, whereas the latest version integrates the amplifier into one of the speakers. Retailing at $59.95, Gen3, Sonic Impact's all-new speaker design, utilises NXT technology to create virtual surround sound, perfect for audiovisual and multimedia equipment. Finally, the company has also launched its first NXT SoundBag, set to retail at $19.99.

Maxell also increased its range of NXT speakers with the addition of a brand new 2.1 system, set to retail at a price point of $49.99.

Existing NXT enabled products, including the Philips Ambilight range of LCD TVs, KEF's KIT 100, and Mission's recently introduced M-cube system, continued to attract high levels of interest and attention at the show from both electronics retailers and the global media. The show also saw a number of NXT manufacturing licensees, including Billionsound, Eastech and Elac, highlighting their NXT capabilities to their customers.

During a media breakfast hosted by NXT at its suites at the Las Vegas Hilton, international journalists were given the chance to have a first view of some of the company's latest prototypes and in-market products, as well as meet NXT executives and engineers face to face. The highlight of the session saw NXT's CEO, David Pearson and Business Director, Graham Ryan, presented with the coveted 'Product of the Year' award for the company's second generation Distributed Mode Actuator (DMA) by Electronic Products magazine from the US.

As well as showcasing a SoundVu enabled prototype LCD TV on the show floor, NXT also utilised CES to unveil a selection of its latest prototypes to existing and potential licensees in private meetings at the two demonstration suites. Similarly, several NXT partners took the opportunity to gauge industry reaction to their own NXT based prototypes in 'behind closed doors' demonstrations.

Commenting on the show, NXT's CEO, David Pearson said, CES has always proved to be a very successful exhibition for NXT, and this year's show has been no exception. We have been delighted by our licensees' genuine creativity and innovation, illustrated by the diversity of NXT products demonstrated both publicly and privately at the show. Combined with last week's announcement by NTT DoCoMo of the world's first NXT enabled mobile phone, CES has provided an excellent springboard for further business progress in 2005.

hondaman - 11 Jan 2005 14:48 - 24 of 46

most likely another deal will come quick because other phone manufacturers will not want to miss out on a device that could determine sales especially as the device is better for health reasons!
Government could impose phones to use their product again for health reasons!
undervalued defo!

Juzzle - 11 Jan 2005 23:32 - 25 of 46

Sorry hondaman but this whole health argument is false. We already have speakerphones that operate away from the head, and earpieces etc to do likewise. So there is no reason why any government would favour one particular gadget that does no more than the same as far as health is concerned, just because shareholders in NXT want them to. Nice try, but it won't wash :-)

MightyMicro - 12 Jan 2005 00:04 - 26 of 46

I'm with Juzzle on this one (nothing against NXT, it's a nice piece of technology).

The cellphone health thing will run and run. I've heard so much nonsense in the last few years about the effect of RF from cellphones and "phone masts" (cellular base stations) from newspapers and other people with space to fill on slow news days it just beggars belief.

goldfinger - 12 Jan 2005 00:32 - 27 of 46

Some seem to have forgotten the cash burn on this one.

Sorry but I know theres a lot of supporters here but the fact is even after this ones cost cutting exercise its still going to have to go 'cap in hand' to the city for more funds.

Jusy my 2penneth.

cheers GF.

ethel - 23 Feb 2005 19:48 - 32 of 46

Agree with Goldfinger, they have a great technology but need cash.No one knows what effect the results will have on the sp.hence the trepidation.Ready Steady Go!!!!

localsonly - 24 Feb 2005 07:45 - 33 of 46

Doesn't look like they need to raise any further funds which is the major negative on the SP, should be positive going forward today!

NXT plc

Citizen Electronics acquires majority share in Authentic to increase mobile
phone business

Citizen Electronics, one of the world's leading component suppliers to the
mobile communications industry, has increased its stake in long term NXT
licensee, Authentic Limited, and is now the majority shareholder.

The main impetus behind Citizen's investment is the future development of NXT's
flat panel loudspeaker technology, which it has cited as being the 'next
significant development' in the mobile communications sector. In recent years,
Citizen and Authentic have been jointly developing flat panel loudspeakers for
the mobile phone market, and as a result have already made substantial efforts
to establish sales channels. The latest development will see Citizen investing
in increased R&D with a commitment to grow flat panel loudspeaker technology to
become one of its core products.

Formerly a subsidiary of NEC, Authentic was established in 1993 specifically to
develop, manufacture and produce audio-based products and components. Citizen
was already a partner of NEC's when, in 2001, it proposed close collaboration
between itself and Authentic, which resulted in Citizen acquiring 30% of the
Authentic business. This was followed in 2003 by a further acquisition, taking
Citizen's interest to 36.43%, before the two companies started to jointly
develop components using NXT's DMA technology. Citizen has now acquired further
shares, taking its holding in Authentic to over 50% with the priority focus on
commencing mass production of flat panel loudspeakers for the mobile phone
market. The outstanding shares in Authentic remain under the control of the NEC
group.

Citizen Electronics President, Mr Takashi Masuzawa, said 'As a company, we have
always been very interested in NXT SoundVu technology. In the mobile industry,
the growth of content-rich multimedia services, such as video and music
downloads, has resulted in an increased demand for high quality audio-visual
performance. We believe NXT SoundVu is the solution to these market
requirements and in committing to this technology, we not only hope to increase
our mobile phone business, but also to create a 'new sound' for mobile phone
users.'

Commenting on the announcement, NXT CEO, David Pearson, said 'we welcome Citizen
Electronics' investment in Authentic and the affirmation of Citizen's commitment
to NXT technology. Having restated their intentions to develop solutions
incorporating our technology, and already confirmed that considerable investment
will be made into R&D and developing sales, the news from Citizen is extremely
positive and we look forward to further enhancing our relationship with them.'

Must be a lot of profit takers this am, refelected by the Shareprice drop. I never know when and if to sell these but as the future looks really promising think I'll hold on as these shares have loads of potential and I think within the next year we could see a huge rise in the share price.
Simon

colinw - 14 Apr 2005 10:46 - 46 of 46

There are a mix of profittakers and the MM's trying to pick up some stock. They were heavily hit yesterday and need to find some more ahead of the next rise.
There was always going to be profit taking, but the core holders will not move, and they are the ones with the big holdings.

You will make a lot of money on this over time, if you have the patience and don't need the cash in the meantime.
