i,m not going to be talking to myself - last post here unless someone contributes - sob sob. there must be others out there interested in this one. It is a great one to watch. bought some at 340p about 5 years ago, lost it all. bought some more at 38p sold them for 145p. thought about buying in last time it dipped below 50p too late it rebounded to 70p pretty fast. bought again yesterday up today and fingers crossed its rebounding. as i said its a roller coaster, the question is when to buy. Does anyone know if robosapien made them any money at Christmas?

I think they were a bit late for the Xmas market, but it's taken off well since.I agree there is a definite possibility that they have been trying hard to streamline and reorganise the business in the last year.Although the first half of 2005 won't show much they expect to satisfy targets for the whole year.
They have reorganised their offices, laying of some people in the process.
The new arrangements re Polaroid will be much better. The digital camera business looks intersting.
This company was VERY popular with investors, gave a very good dividend and then fell out of favour when they could'nt keep up with their prior successes.
If investors are prepared to wait I think the sp will surprise by year's end.

Saw Richard and Judy about a month ago where they unveiled Robosapien 2. It's bigger and better than 1 and costs 140. It could be the winner for Xmas 05. The kids really enjoyed it.
I'm in this at 1.60. written this off. It did bounce from 45p to just under 80p and I was tempted to jump ship. Camera division virtually ignored. CCT has to win back confidence with some good results.

They've announced that the results 21 april will be 2mln less than expected and considerably down on last year. There has been a tremendous sell off during the past month and the sp is ridiculously low.An example of another company that no one wants to touch any more, pity, they don't deserve that! However, the lack of response on this thread shows that no one gives a damn, apparently.

Interesting reading the results and great to know that they are ungeared and the dividend is retained. The move to Aim is a good idea as is the change of head office. They have secured rights to Doctor Who.Nice sp hike on all this Hope that it goes up from now on and is'nt just a quick buck day.Could copy BPRG and head up for a few days.Anyone interested now?

Elmfield, yes I agree as CCT adds more strings it derisks the stock and removes some risk restrictions from the P/E. I was previously thinking 12-15 as reasonable, but I think recent developments implies the top end of that range as you have suggested.
Applying 15 P/E to:
V.Low broker forecast of 12.66p - target 190p
My mid range eps forecast 15p - target 225p
Paulypilot continued 35% growth forecast 18p - target 270p
Based on the above I think 225p is a reasonable target for this year (or c.50% upside from the current price) potentially more if 35% growth continues for the full year.

Keeping quiet today as I am finding these MM games very frustrating. I think if these shares were now up to 2.25-2.50 I could accept that we had reached some level of value before looking to forward potential. As it is I still see these as very much undervalued on what is already known.
The point about being recommended in the press or tip mag is going to be on going for the next few years as more deals are signed and more and more people see the growth in Characters potential. However, with shares in short supply and getting shorter all the time, the only way that the MM`s are going to get hold of them is to play these stupid games and that is what is causing the SP fluctuations.
FRUSTRATING OR WHAT?
fido - 14 Feb'07 - 13:16 - 3071 of 3073
elmfield,
This potential is what I have been trying to portray.
It is not easy going on about it because the deals have yet to be done.
However, every piece of news is pointing in the right direction.
The branding,
The partnerships
The in house developement
The international sales growth.

scburbs,
Good work matey. You can see why I get so annoyed with the MM`s. This share should be at least 2.25-2.50 right now even before we start talking about potential. The problem with the MM`s apart from their playing games that is, is that they have a long memory. They remember the times when things were not so good in the days of Star Wars and they remember the loss of focus with the cameras. From a company point of view those days are long gone but the market is not so forgiving. Character have come a long way to being forgiven but there is still a little way to go yet. That is why I said that Character are recovering from an undervaluation. This does however mean that Character are still way undervalued.
Since Character refocused on what they do best, namely toys, they have not put a foot wrong. In fact they have done everything very right indeed. As deals are done and confidence increases, the undervaluation will dissapear and we can then concentrate on Characters potential.
Your figures re Hasbro and Mattel show just how undervalued Character are going forward. Both companies are mature and mainstream. Character are reborn, they are nimble on their feet and have an eye for a winner. Their expertese in marketing and distribution sets them out from the crowd and gets them noticed.
This is exactly what is happening and Character are starting to win deals. The market normally rewards higher growth companies with a higher PE rating and this is what is taking place with Character. If you take into account the growth prospects then a figure of 3-4 is indeed the SP you are looking at.
The deal with BKN was stated as initial in nature meaning more will follow. Character were the obvious choice for BKN and will be for others. Mark my words, what we know of Character growth prospects is just the start. Character are gearing up as a much bigger company, and when they aquire the certainty of earnings coupled with higher growth rates this is not only going to propel the SP strongly northwards but will also make them an odds on bid target.
This is what gets my goat.
I know that Characters SP should be much higher, so to do the company and its directors. This is also known by 3i and the institutions and by any bidding company. So why can`t we get to 4.80 in double quick time and have a proper value put on this company with one of the strongest growth rate going.
The answer is simple. Nothing is that easy, there are no straight lines in the market. The MM`s will work this all the way up to its former peak and all because its their field and their ball and they are going to earn as much money out of it as they can.

cynic, thanks for charts and your thoughts.I've been very bullish on CCT from 100p.You've hit the nail on the head drawing attention to historic chart.Gets even better when looking at historic 10 year chart years 1998/1999.This is where I and those wiser than me beleive CCT is heading.
Number crunching (see separate thread link: http://www.moneyam.com/InvestorsRoom/posts.php?tid=11121#)highlights value growth share with progressive % yield.Recent Major license news and Toy Story 2009 prospects empathise huge potential and that Character have only just begun. All yet to be factored into share price & pretty sure 3i will add more and more value here.
Market makers bought twice today and yes technically an excellent close above 150p.KEEP HOLDING & anything is possible going forward 200p-480p.Revised for me from two to three year hold 2006-2009.aimvho.dyor.

Character Group expects FY to exceed current market expectations 'substantially'
AFX
LONDON (AFX) - Character Group PLC said it expects to exceed current market expectations for the financial year 'substantially' as its sales and profitability in the year to date from continuing business are ahead on-year.
The toys, games and gifts company said Christmas retail demand for its products, particularly its Doctor Who lines, was very strong and the new year has started well, adding that it expects the trend to continue throughout the calendar year.
Character Group noted ongoing strong demand for its continuing lines and new introductions such as Dragonfly, Movin and Groovin Flowers, and Bindees.

Remainder sold between 120p and 170p for banked profit and new investments means these running totally free and will be held now for next advance to 250-300p.
