Dear Ian at Moneyam
Please ignore the ramblings of my mad husband. He is not going to Manchester, he has other engagements that day:
1) He has to look after the kids (well lambs actually) in the morning while I go to market.
2) He has an ASBO from the local court which means he cannot go outside Sussex( he was caught in a car with Spaceman, rustling or words to that effect!)
Last time he went to one of these he came back full of big ideas about how he was going to become Chief Trading Ram. He understood from TOM H ( I spit at his very name)that all the best traders have more than one wife at a time, that you trade at night using the moon and stars as a guide, and that if you have a big knob you will get a job in the City.
He also told me certain unsavoury northern women and dodgy scousers attend and leave a bad influence, I don't want him to mix with riff raff.

bosley, there are other protocols at these events as well that Ian should have mentioned :-
No discussions about Bald Men are allowed.
No food containing lamb is allowed.
You must not say anything rude about the northerners as its their home ground and they will cause you pain.
Under no circumstances should you say anything nice to Ruth.
Do not mention that Steph seems to have had a lot to drink (this will always be true but we try and pretend we havnt noticed).
Just hope that Steph does not turn up with her 5 foot whip again !
Follow these simple rules and you will learn a lot and have a great day out.

Q. How much of the course will be devoted specifically towards the interpretaion of Level 2 and Forex trading?
Q. Assume the Seminar will teach analysis & application techniques applicable to multiple trading methods, e.g. Fx, shares, CFD's, etc.?
Q. How much audience interaction will there be (if any)? Unfortunately yours truly has a very low boredom level!

1) It is a very informal day. It not a 'course' but a day of chatting and gathering info
2) Audience can ask questions at end of each speakers slot. A slot is 30 minutes , so don't expect to come away with a complete understanding of every subject in such a short time

Stan,
Not familiar with buses from Wilmslow but if you get into Man Oxford Rd train station (much better than Piccadilly). Pick up one of the 40s buses outside ( not sure which 40s) that's heading south for Palatine Rd and it should drop you outside the hotel.
There won't be a problem getting a bus as its a main route but will take approx 30-45mins to get there

It's No.43 that stops outside the Britannia Hotel. Should be plenty of buses as this one runs past the University and student accommodation. Just cross Oxford Road when you leave the station and you'll see the bus stops.

Tom, stop teasing a girl like that, :-)
MM:-)
Good day, great to meet so many new faces,
however from mine and shoguns live presentation point of view, bit dissapointing, we didnt lose any money but the market just wouldnt play for us, very rangebound in the time we had it up live, unfortunately the time slots were running late and our laptops played up with re sizing the charts when plugged into the projector which for some unforseen reason made the appearance disconfigured from what we wanted, so by the time we got up and live we had missed the one move the market gave by about 10 mins, which was very unfortunate as we would have been jumping in on the break out, hopefully the reasoning came accross ok ,and the audience could clearly see why and where we would have got in the trades, but i hate talking charts and saying we would have longed here and shorted there, hindsight is marvellous, really big audience and really wanted to do the trades live and not in hindsight, im not comfortable with public speaking anyway, so to have to stand through a market doing nothing was not ideal for me, however shogun did a great job i think with his great scouse wit, and there was the usa trade we pointed out on caterpillar which on paper generated 17 virtual points from when we first highlighted it, so not a total wash out, but all in all was hoping for much more volatility so we could really get our teeth into the live trading, but suppose it wasnt to be,unfortunately its a very difficult job to do being at the mercy of the markets, and today it wasnt playing ., maybe next time:-)
the one positive point is that we did show that you dont have to chase trades, dont have to gamble and patience will pay off in the end.
anyway, thanks to all who attended and hope you all had a safe journey home,
ive just rung up shoguns house and hes not home yet, hope hes still not in the bar, and those who stayed behind will know what im talking about:-)

Tom, your going to be in trouble when the wife reads post 224, youve already been shouted at once you naughty boy:-)
Anyway, serious competition now Tom , some hunky hubby material there yesterday, only problem is Stephies thinking of the same blokes as me :-)
Only kidding, im a good girl really, just love flirting, nothing wrong with window shopping hey Stephie:-) Dont think my other half would mind me window shopping, but he might draw the line at trying on the clothes:-)
Bosley, did you reallly end up alone with that woman in the bar,?you unlucky sod:-)blame Steph:-)
ps she wasnt with traders for anyone wondering what were on about, just some lady hotel resident in the bar chatting up all the male traders in the bar, proper bunny boiler, even i was propositioned by her for a night of passion which as you can imagine had me in stitches,
but even funnier when she told Shogun he needed to learn some conversation skills, :-)Jeff i will look up some therapy sessions buddy:-)
Anyone needing any info or anything they didnt understand please drop me a mail on the above address, might take me a while to answer if the markets are busy, but i will get round to it,

Right, sorry for posting so late. I really did enjoy the day. Highlights for me were definately listening to the traders.
Tom H - always gives such a great presentation, thanks for talking about your stratergies etc and explaining them so well. Your enthusiasm for trading is great. I learnt something!
Sputnik - really well presented, it goes to show, simple charting techniques really can make you money!! By the way I also use MAs for support and resistance but tend to keep a check on them and change them to fit the situation as some trends use a 15 or 25 ma one day and a 10ma the next.
Ruth and Shogun. I have to say I really appreciated your efforts, ok so the market wasnt that great for you, but I know you are winning traders anyway, the fact you werent able to trade didnt bother me. It was how you traded and the set ups that I found really interesting.
Ruth I really wish I had longer to talk - it was unfortunate I had to rush back to Cumbria. It was really great to meet both you and Steph and put faces to names which I have seen on these boards daily for 4 yrs + now. I would really like to talk trading some more, (I am very isolated up here form the trading world!), particularly about a L2 set up which I have been using with charts. I always get inspired on the rare occasions I ever get to talk to another trader and I love to comprare stratergies etc.
I will send you an email as soon as I am back at my desk!
Thanks again
Adrian

Thanks for a great day....But I thought that all of my mis-conceptions were going to be highlighted and ridiculed.
They weren't,In fact I did not learn much more than that which I had already learned the hard way already. (Education is so much more poignant when there is a hundred quid to be wasted at every mistake, on the table). Even so I have never made anything on the markets.
So I know it all _---and still lose money!!
Well what do you think of that?
I actually mentioned this to Alan in the bar early on after the meeting, acting as the devils advocate so to speak. This was before the taxi arrived on time for once so I had to go.

Great day many thanks to all.
Most enjoyable, despite discrimination against us southerners by Manchester air traffic control, who wouldn't let us leave Southampton for ages and almost made me late - said the weather was bad - did you see any bad weather on Friday? bet they let all the other airy planes in.
Hope Ruth and Shogun can do it all again in a more accommodating time slot.
All the best and thanks for your welcome north west.
Cheers

DSS - the market is less about how much you know and more about discipline in applying that knowledge.

Well what a good day it is always good to meet like minded people .
Unfortunatly the slot ruth and me put on did not go as planed as time was against us, i can only apologise and say both ruth and myself were as dissapointed as you must have been,
Who was that mad woman who was harrassing everyone after the event, she scared peter(script) to death and then latched on to poor CC.

Shogun - I seem to remember she thought your conversational skills needed improving. What she really meant was that she wanted to give you some tongue action ;-)))

Sorry my review of the day is so late....but here it is.....
Of all of the Traders Days MoneyAM hosts over the year, none quite matches the North West event for atmosphere and enthusiasm.
This year the event, held on Friday 11th November, moved to Manchester, in order to cater for the ever-increasing numbers of investors who like to come along, meet their peers and take part in what is a series of highly informative sessions covering many aspects of trading and investing.
The change of location this year proved not to detract from the tradition, attracting a record turnout, with visitors from every corner of the UK making the trip.
On the menu was a broad selection of presentations from a number of leading service providers and MoneyAM users themselves.
The proceedings were kicked off with an overview of the benefits of Level 2 data from Mike Boydell, along with advice on how to analyse it and make use of the information available to assist in trading shares successfully.
There followed informative presentations from Jon Scott of E*Trade on using direct market access and Gary Thomson of CMC Markets giving advice on Forex trading.
Tom Hougaard of CityIndex was on hand to give his unique off-the-wall analysis of the international financial picture always an eye-opener and always delivered with a perfect balance of humour and aplomb.
A new subject for Traders Days was presented by Sunil Jaswal of Reality Expansion, with an insight into how he created a lucrative property portfolio. Judging by the clamour of people who rushed to see Sunil during the lunch break, his ideas certainly struck a chord.
James Alexander of Zopa continued the alternatives theme with a fresh look at what makes the financial world go round and an insight into why Loan Exchanges are gaining in popularity.
MoneyAm Bulletin Board regular, Sputnik, gave the benefit of his experience as a swing and momentum trader, using examples from his own activities. Sputnik has been a successful private investor for many years and always has sound advice for his fellow BB users.
Regular Shares contributor and Global Markets Training lecturer, Peter Webb, treated the audience to an interactive session illustrating how he uses Betting Exchanges and maintains a success rate of between 90% and 95% by treating Horse Racing and Football betting in purely financial terms. He also outlined how his methods can also be applied to betting on indices. (During the break it was impossible to even see Peter as he was completely surrounded by the intrigued and the interested, eager to learn more.)
The closing event of the day was presented by Bulletin Board stalwarts, Ruth and Shogun, who provided a live trading session to demonstrate the methods they apply while jointly trading on a daily basis at home. Although it was a quiet time on the markets, they were able to illustrate their methods and decision-making processes. This was probably the most animated session of the day and proved a big hit with everyone.
There was time during breaks in the day for friends to meet and new acquaintances to be struck up. I was pleased to have had the opportunity to catch up with so many of the MoneyAM regulars and exchange experiences.
The feedback was great and will ensure that MoneyAM Traders Days continue to thrive in the future. Next years events are already being planned a return to Manchester in 2006 is guaranteed.
