After much campaigning by the market, the London Stock Exchange have agreed to reduce their monthly level 2 charges to 15 per month from 30. This change, effective during January 2006,will be supported by a new private investor education programme, which the Exchange is launching in conjunction with retail brokers.
It really is good to see that the LSE does listen to the market and to you the user. As a result of the survey we sent out to all our users on behalf of the LSE two months ago, I am sure the feedback from you all was invaluable in getting them to understand from a users perspective that exchange fees were prohibitive to retail investors.

That is excellent news and better late than never.
Do you or does anyone else have a view as to whether access to L2 data increases the volume of retail trades undertaken by retail investors or are the majority overburdened by the uplift in the amount of instantaneous information that they become stunned into non-trading.
Views anyone.

I think a lot of people just don't understand it. Therefore won't pay the uplift of what was 55-60 per month.

There is of course a down side - which is that more Stockbrokers will satrt to offer the service for free if you trade frequently. Which means that MAM must be competitively priced to retain existing level 2 holders.

I have just received a very prompt reply this morning re my question on MAM Level 2 new price structure. However they are still saying they will announce in January'06 which is somewhat disappointing & confusing. As I cannot really understand the reasons for the delay, is this down to MAM or LSE ?. Even Clem C's company are not revealing anything on prices, are they all playing the I will show you mine once I see yours, type of game ? Which makes it very difficult from the P.I's point of view or should we all migrate over to iii who have released I understand a revised price structure.

I would like Level 2 for a day to buy some shares from it, do you get them cheaper than from Level 1?
I would be prepared to pay 1.25 (cash) for a day, which is a premium to the monthly rate.

IanT,
I currently pay 10 per month so that I can turn off monitor streaming in order to access on my mobile phone.
if I subscribe to the 32.50 level 2 option, will I still have the ability to turn off streaming on the monitor if I so wish, without paying an extra subscription?
Will I be able to access Shares online? (I subscribe to shares ) Included in the price?

We have over 500 users who access MoneyAM's Level 2 uncontended service so we hope the LSE reduction and our own extra drop on top helps a lot of active traders. I wonder if this will be now be the death knell of contended level 2 services which in my eye has always been a very diminished offering!

Thanks for the free trial!!.....Is it only using the 'Full' L2 screen that you can view trade data at the same time?? I currently have 11 L2 windows open on just one screen showing trade data with one of your competitors but the Money AM L2 window takes up most of the page, is there a way of making the window smaller and keeping the trade data?? No good to me if you cant!

I've upgraded this morning to L2+Terminal.
The terminal is a great feature, i have currently 8 share's L2 on just
the one page, just think how much time that saves from typing in various
epic's to check your share's L2 and it's only 10 pound a month extra.
Monitor, L2 and Terminal for under 50 pound after tax is a very good deal.
There's one other feature i like about this site, it never crashes my pc unlike
another i used to use frequently :-))
