To those of you who like me are in Bright Things hoping for the Bubble to be a great Christmas success. I thought my thoughts would be of interest. Due to the drop in the share price I went into Hamleys in Regent St yesterday and discovered that they had never heard of the game. This made me phone the company to complain that their product was not available in the world's best known toy shop. Executives were in a meeting so I thought what a waste of a phone call. Two hours later the MD phoned me back and assured that they now had a Hamleys order and their toy would be in within aweek. He did not pass on any unknown information but assured me they were flat out to make it a sucessful launch. I was much encouraged by his attitude and his interest in small shareholders.
Hope this helps.

Hi Eric,
I too bought into these based on the potential I saw for time strapped parents who wanted thier kids to learn interactively rather than just being plonked in front of the tv. I've just been looking at their website http://www.brightthings.com and whilst it's better than SEO's (just) there isn't very much upto date news on there. I still believe in the potential for the console, but don't believe people know about this product.
Regards,
LL

Yes it me who spoke to MD. Very disappointed in share price as the launch of the product was not very good. i have just done a bed and spouse for captial gains this year at 26p as I believe that the product has great potential with the USA their biggest target. If this time next year the price is back to the first issue price of 1 I will take profit and run.

Thanks LL and Colin. I wonder if there are parents of pre-school children who have seen or experienced the bubble or seen any promotion. The fall to the current level seems odd and probably explained by a fair amount of hot money wanting out: about 25% of the shares were sold in three days in September and January without any resulting demand. If those close to the company interpreted this as an opportunity, where were they? Suggests that key players are still some what worried about the take-up of the product. The January lease was probably interpreted as a profit warning. We may not have long to wait for an end-of-year trading statement.

I took profits on these after the pre-launch hype ran out of steam (learnt my lesson from SEO to bank profits rather than be stubborn). Also, my own research of going into local shops (i.e. ELC) and asking questions about the imminent launch only to get blank expressions from the staff didn't inspire my confidence. I do still keep an eye out when I'm shopping for the kids but have only ever seen them (eventually) in ELC, not Woolworths or John Lewis, and then that was because they were on a prominent January sale stand with a significant discount.
The problem is always going to be getting the advertising right. It's aimed at the pre-school market and characters which are predominantly on CBeebies - a station which doesn't carry advertising. Leap Frog, although not an identical product, seems to have a strong market leading position in this area and is certainly more prominent on the shelves.
I've also heard comment on other boards that the games themselves are a bit slow in their response to optons selected via the remote console but don't have first hand experience of this.
At the moment I wouldn't be optimistic about their success but I will keep an eye on them as the potential may still be there.

I pinched this from another thread on ADVFN discussing the Bubble. This was posted originally on 19th March:
"was in toyworld (national toyshop chain in UK - even small market towns have them) today with my son spending his birthday money. behind the counter on top shelf was "bubble". i asked how it was selling and she said they sell several a week, and she was aware of repeat deliveries which she regarded as good. sales have dropped off slightly as it was competing with a product (by v-tech), which was 33% dearer, but they have cut their price to be the same as bubble. bubble has the better known brands associated by a long way, so if some marketing is applied with disney etc support i would imagine it would do quite well. i was quite surprised as it looked quite expensive to me, but it would appear to be quite normal for people to spend 60 on a toy like this. "

arp: that was a very helpful post. On my watchlist so do post anything else you pick up, please. I take it you are in a small market town so therefore one of 100s of similar shops. If they could get through the initial 100,000 then the last report indicates that margins will improve significantly in the next year. It would be good to know if anyone has seen trade press comment.

The chart is suggesting not other than a CUP & Handle on progress, and is seven weeks doing the handle so is time for the turn UP

Definition of Cup and Handle
A pattern on bar charts resembling a cup with a handle. The cup is in the shape of a "U" and the handle has a slight downward drift. The right-hand side of the pattern has low trading volume. It can be as short as seven weeks and as long as 65 weeks.
As the stock comes up to test the old highs, the stock will incur selling pressure by the people who bought at or near the old high. This selling pressure will make the stock price trade sideways with a tendency towards a downtrend for four days to four weeks... then it takes off. Below is an example of a cup and handle chart pattern:
A couple points on trying to detect cup and handles: Length - Generally, cups with longer and more "U" shaped bottoms, the stronger the signal. Avoid cups with a sharp "V" bottoms. Depth - Ideally, the cup should not be too deep. Also, avoid handles which are too deep since the handles should form in the top half of the cup pattern.
Volume - Volume should dry up on the decline and remain lower than average in the base of the bowl. It should then increase when the stock finally starts to make its move back up to test the old high. Retest (of old high) - doesn't have touch or come within a few ticks of old high. However, the further the top of the handle is away from the highs, the more significant the breakout needs to be.

Master RSI - I really like your cup and handle but suspect it depends on what is inside! Been doing a quick update and see the following as positive: (a) Wheatley has put up 100K of his own money; (b) Four significant shareholders with about a quarter of the capital; (c) dvd strategy plus capitalising on chip investment looks a better strategy than trying to sell hardware (d) creative expertise of management. Looking back you can see that the argument for Bubble rather than standard dvd was somewhat weak (kids are pretty adroit on computers/dvd compared with their grandparents!
What is not clear is the potential revenue from something like Tomb Raider. It looks like they are testing the water so that the end of January trading report will be significant. It would be helpful to have feedback from the retail end.

The lady I spoke to last friday said the results would be out on Monday 16th July but never know they could come out any time now! Hence, I'll be making my first purchase in these tomorrow morning. I have been hovering over the buy button since the last week but I checked the online prices today and seems I can pick some up around 5.20 pence. I think that's an excellent price considering the kind of news we're expecting in the finals. Not only that if I was to wait till the morning the finals are out, the market makers will be marking the price up and making very few shares available to buy online! I believe the free float is only around 5 million shares with more than 70% of the 30 million shares in the hands of major shareholders. These could easily soar back upto 20 pence + on some good news. Only need one piece of good news for that too. Without any good news, the price should be around the 10 pence levels as it is too! 6 months with no news thus far since the last trading statement in January but I think the finals will contain alot of good news.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The cash position and forward looking statement alone will double the share price, a couple of deals thrown in could see 300%+ rise like back in September 06. All those in at the placing (11p) back in november have held there stock, the institutions have held onto there stock. Dominic put 100k hard earned cash into the placing and is a shrewd CEO who will keep a tight hold on the purse strings and can change direction of the company as markets dictate .imho fair value is around mc 3/4m (11/13)p with the cash in the bank imho around 1m and the patented asic chip also the ongoing deal with radica and future sales of tr and tw any futher deals would add to the mkt cap ,and imho the major shareholders agree.

Scottinvestor, The main console genre tends to be ages 13 - 30. Whereas DVD/IDVD is closer to 13 - 65. Arguably the potential spend in the IDVD market is two to three times that of the console market. The price level of TW is attractive and requires no expensive/specialist hardware. With the right level of advertising and smart distribution then i can see little reason why this product shouldn't generate substantial sales volume - perhaps 250,000+ copies. I'm not sure what the split on revenues is likely to be but I guess that BGT's share will fall straight to the bottom line now that R&D costs have been accounted for.

The coming months September-December should be the most busiest for the company. Last year the quantity of news releases were far higher during the above months than during rest of the year. The company also stated in the results about other initiatives they willing to explore. I would have thought that would happen and we would hear more about it once the Tiger Woods game is completed. This should be anyday now! And then after Christmas, the company has already said they'll be looking at developing more iDVD games.

The Bubble burst with no sales last year. Tiger Woods has a lot to do to persuade me to invest in this outfit which has burnt so much capital to no avail. Please comment.

Yes alot of cash has gone to developing the Tiger Woods iDVD game. But how can you say to no avail? when the game has not even been released yet and even completion of the game has not been announced yet. The company will pocket 70% of revenues on any sales of that game. Ps. Mkt cap is 2million!

Even after couple of 50K sells, MMs still aggressively looking for stock by paying a big premium on the bid for stock.. I will be most surprised if any of the sellers get back in at a cheaper price before news comes. L2 is 2 v 2. Not seen MMs continously pay such a premium on the bid despite just sellers being around. I would expect news shortly!

Another good day and with more sellers out of the way. The market makers continued paying a 0.25 pence premium on the bid to sellers for the fourth trading day in a row. At close the MMs were offering 7 pence on the bid against the closing price of 6.75-7.50 pence. Buyers having to pay full price on offer and Level 2 closed the best it had been today at 2 v 2.

IMO some kind of good news is on its way which should send the share price rocketing. For the market makers to continue paying a 0.25p premium on the bid for four consecutive trading days, taking in a fair few sells and still not reducing sell limits and keeping buy limits low. At the same time, not letting any sellers get back in at a lower price. These are good signs especially when we are close to getting another massive positive signal by breaking the 200 day moving average at 7.50 pence!

After both my buys the price ticked back up. The market makers were again for the fifth trading day in a row bidding aggressively for stock. Online buy quantities also severely reduced. IMO news on the Tiger Woods game completion shouldn't be too far away. The price has got like a coiled spring ready for the next set of big rises IMO.

Just had a quick scan through all the RNS's last year and the company is always keen it seems to release news on Thursday's and Friday's. News twice on licensing agreements has been announced on a friday afternoon. With the way the MMs have behaved for six trading rows in a row, I have my fingers crossed for news tomorrow afternoon. The company did state in the finals last month that the Tiger Woods iDVD game would be completed within the month of August! Last day of August tomorrow!!!

Good buying volume even with the severe restriction on the online buying limits throughout most of the day. The price has crossed the 200 day moving average which is a massive positive signal especially with news on the hortizon. Despite the offer not moving to 8.25 pence, MMs did charge someone 8.25 pence for around 16,000 shares. If they up open the buy limits next week then I would expect even stronger interest and buying. AGM is also not too far on 12th September. One of the MMs was still bidding for stock very aggressively at close by offering 7.60 pence on the mid against the indicative screen bid of 7.25 pence. The 100,000 trade reported at 7.50 pence at 16:31hrs looks like a buy. A 100K buy order filled at the end of the day at 7.50 pence from this morning when it was 7.50 pence to buy. Hence, possible reason why the online buy limit was severely restricted to just 5,000 shares until very late this afternoon and why the MMs continued to offer well over the indicative bid for stock. IMO the price could break 10 pence even before news comes.
Breakout!!!
Price breaking the 200 day moving average today - big positive signal!

The snippet in the Express today will put BGT on even more radars before news comes. Most welcomed and espcially with just around 2 million free float - means bigger rises. Good timing for that snippet to appear too!
Three times Express has mentioned about an imminent deal now since end of July. They've used the word imminent deal all the time as well. We're just expecting the Tiger Woods iDVD game completion announcement but surely some kind of deal announcement must be forthcoming. Express have been on about it since mid-July. News is also well overdue on the ASIC chip. The last real news on that was in the trading statement annnouncement at the end of January. I think we will get the Tiger Woods completion game announcement plus some kind of deal announcement to do with the ASIC chip.

L2 is still 1 v 2. Maybe see more larger T buys towards close. I'm sure that 100K at 7.50 pence on Friday was also a buy filled during the day. IMO it seems someone put a massive large buy in at 7.50 pence and hence the price has been stuck at this level and the market makers have been bidding very aggressively for stock. And to back that up, WINS are offering 7.436 pence on the bid for stock. Still bidding very aggressively for stock.
50,000 buy has come through at a premium of 7.75 pence.

Nice close IMO. A nice 250,000 BUY filled and a 50K buy came through at a premium of 7.75 pence. WINS continued bidding aggressively for stock by offering 7.436 pence on the bid at close. The market makers continued aggressively looking for stock under 7.50 pence. None of the holders were tempted by 7.425 pence on the bid so made the price go red and even then did not get much stock. Despite the spread and offer being at 7.50 pence, the market makers are charging 7.75 pence for a decent quantity et al the 38K buy at that price. We didn't see many buys today because it was not possible to buy any at 7.50 pence. IMO very likely another large buy being filled at 7.50 pence after the 250K buy at that price yesterday. AGM is next wednesday and Tiger Woods DVD game completion news should be out by then!

I think the bigger picture could go like this....
BGT announce year end profits of say 2 million pounds (not impossible)
Divide that by 30,450,078 shares and you get 0.0656812p per share then multiply that by a p/e of say an average of 6 and what price do you get....
........39p
I think those are pretty conservative figures.

Calm down tony. A 70,000 buy has come through from an hour ago at 7.15 pence. Reason why Level 2 has gone positive at 2 v 1. Sizeable buy as normal buys are upto 50,000 shares.

The guy who bought 116,000 shares at 8.50 pence two weeks ago has stated on ADVFN that he'll be purchasing another 10,000 worth of shares tomorrow. Look out for a 100,000+ buy tomorrow and IMO last chance to get in at this level before news comes. His buy might push the price up significantly.

Good rise today and buyers returning again. WINS on Level 2 have started paying premiums on the bid again for stock and IMO we may well get news next week which should provide a breakout from these levels. All the major retailers are now and will be stocking the Tomb Raider and Tiger Woods game. The Tiger Woods game was only completed in August yet they have been successful in pushing the game out throughout many stores in the UK in a short space of time. We may well get a RNS about a distribution partner for USA soon. I did get a confirmation email from Goldhill Entertainment that they will not be distributing the Tiger Woods game. Bright Things may have found a better distributor for their game. Level 2 closed very positive and the best it can be at 3 v 1.

And your point is halifax. The things in the pipeline for the next few months will take care of your shareholders funds. You stick to FTSE stocks if that's what you base your investment decisions. As far as I am concerned the company will be announcing lots of news in the coming weeks/months and just even another ASIC deal will get the share price to rise by 200% IMO.

Some reviews on the Lara Croft Tomb Raider DVD game:
Tomb Raider An Action Adventure!, 30 Jun 2007
By Maria Abdollahi "Game Addict" (London/Liverpool) -
Lara's first IDVD game and it's the best IDVD game that's out you should get it this is not a new game it's Tomb Raider The Angel Of Darkness also on PS2 PC and Mac 10/10 Must Buy!
Simply Amazing, 11 Mar 2007
By Wareyme "Makaw" (Nottingham UK)
Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness was possibly the worst game ever published due to it's lack of control. This INTERACTIVE DVD is absolutely amazing. Maybe a new sub genre in the making, I couldn't stop playing it.
Well done Eidos!! Please give us more in this style.
Was this review helpful to you?
A Change from The Norm..., 28 Nov 2006
By Chris O'Neill "burned_liar" (London, UK) -
This DVD is a refreshing change from the normal quiz type interactive DVD games that are now so readily available on the market. Rather than sitting there waiting for your question to come up you get to control Lara Croft around a series of adventures and depending on which action you choose at certain points the outcome of the game can differ.
Its great fun, especially for people who do not normally like games consoles.. it means you can share a gaming experience and some fun with all the family!
Definitely recommend for those Christmas afternoons!!
Lara for me and my kids, 9 Nov 2006
By Michelle Leadbeater (Manchester)
My kids love Lara Croft, but for them (and me) the games have always been too hard to complete or just take too long. This is the second DVD game we have bought and we loved it. It isnt a quiz, you actually play the adventure, controlling Lara through the action. It didnt take long to get used to the control just using our DVD remote and we had a load of fun and guess what - its the first game I have ever finished.

L2 is 4 v 4 and MMs still not keen on much trading activity keeping place. They have already taken in many, many sells at 6.50 pence over the last ten days and IMO BGT has a pattern of these very falls before explosive news.

If they don't get approval from EA soon, and then sort out a US distributor, they will miss out on the Christmas market. They should have got this sorted by now??????????????????

I'm sure they must have got the approval from EA Sports, with one being able to pre-order the game from atleast fifteen different retailers now. Just waiting on a US distributor.

Still waiting for news but won't be today now. L2 is still 3 v 1. The market makers seem happy to soak up any sells and protect themselves by staying high on the offer prices until news comes. Real spread remains 6.00-6.40 pence.

Further UK distributor details of the Tiger Woods Family DVD game. IMO Bright Things made an excellent decision in choosing Pinnancle to be the distributor in the UK. The game is now being stocked a month in advance of the release at nearly 20 big retailers including amazon.co.uk:
Business to Business
As the UK's biggest independent distributor, Pinnacle Entertainment enjoys a unique position in the market place.
Sales Department
Pinnacle Records boasts a total of five sales teams; each dedicated towards specific areas of the market.
The National Accounts team sells exclusively to the multiple retailers, the main specialists being the likes of HMV, Virgin and V.Shop. We also offer a full sales service to the on-line retailers like Amazon, Streets On Line, etc. The team also covers non-specialists with more selective stock-ranges, such as WH Smiths and Woolworths. Pinnacle is unique in the independent sector in having two field sales teams. The salesforce specialise in catalogue and chart titles, whilst the strikeforce specialise in indie dance and development artists.
The two in-house sales-teams complete the sales department. Both teams pre-sell singles, Spin being dedicated to all permutations of dance music while SF1 specialise in indie, rock and chart.
