Oh please! If Henry was that good on the night he should have put away at least two chances, especially the one in the 70th minute when it was still 1-0. I felt it poetic that the dirtiest team in the Premiership for the last 10 years should be the first team to ever have a player sent of in 50 years of the European Cup final. And it should have been two - the tackle by Eboue that he received a yellow card for in the 22nd minute was disgraceful.

As a totally impartial observer, Arsenal were always the second-best team on the field. I agree the goalie should not have been kicked off, but then the Barca goal would have (deservedly) stood. That being so, Arsenal could have ended up getting a worse thumping

Just reward for the cheating and general sporting-free attitude of Lehman the whole season, plus who gives a shit anyway, they're just a French business based in England.
Now the Cup Final was different, we truly were the better team and were robbed.

I'd agree on both your points Harry6, especially the first one. Arsenal even refused to give the ball back at one point in the first half after Barca had put it out of play due to an injury. High stakes I know but there needs to be a modicum of sportsmanship left for the purists :-)

Biased and blinkered Wenger. He says nothing about the spectacular dive
to get Arsenal a free kick for their goal. Even Merson on the box said it was
a dive.

Prop - I was in Cardiff and I was gutted too when West Ham lost, on penalties, but at least we bore our defeat with some sort of dignity rather than blame everyone else.
Arsenal and Chelsea have out Man U'd Man U for arrogance and all round mean spiritedness and lack of any sort of sporting principles.
And don't get me started on the way Andy Gray and his ilk boost the 'big clubs' and only ever discuss why the 'big clubs' lost, not why the other team won.
Bastards, the lot of them.

The FA Cup final was great but the fact was that West Ham only scored via an own goal, a goalkeeping mistake and a complete fluke.
The fact that Arsenal said it like it was is not whinging. I'm sure if you were playing and were getting kicked up in the air everytime like Henry was, then you would complain because I would.

Henry to sign new Arsenal contract - report
19/05/2006 07:38
SYDNEY (Reuters) - Arsenal striker Thierry Henry is poised to sign a new contract with the Premier League club, media reported on Friday.
The French international had been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona, who beat Arsenal 2-1 in the Champions League final on Wednesday. However, he now appears set to stay in London.
"I hope to stay as long as I can keep running," Henry told The Sun. "I couldnt leave the fans, theyre like family.

If Henry does re-sign it will be a huge boost to the club ahead of their move to a new stadium next season.
It would have been nice to started in the new stadium with the European Cup but we have a lot to look forward too.

Rather than "blaming" the referee, perhaps you should be thanking him for not sending off Eboue in the 22nd minute as well. The team are a disciplinary disgrace led by Wenger. They did do well to get there but they finished the season with nothing which is no more than their brand of intimidation, cheating & conning deserves.

Yes, i agree, thanking the ref for not sending off that brainless keeper AND allowing the goal, that is what he should of done. Wenger the winger is not moaning about the non-foul against eboue that gave the goal to Arsenal and not moaning about the 3 good chances so so-called one of the best players in the world had (henri). I really wanted the English leaque side to win, battled hard, but overall Barca deserved it.

we WERE good euf!!
We were unlucky.
In the first 17 mins we matched them and if not had the better of it!
For 55 mins we did what we needed to do, they didnt.
We got a bit lucky with the free kick for the goal.
With 10 men we still made chances.
they had most possession but you would expect that 11 vs 10.
They got back into the game with a goal that could have been dissallowed.
There second goal was a killer. We were tiring after playing with 10 men for an hour. The goal was technically an own goal as it was going wide until it hit Almunia.
they werent all over us and we had chances to score at 1-0.
If Barca are the best team in the world. a 10 man Arsenal arent far off them, which means and 11 man Arsenal team arent either.
I feel sorry for Jens, he had no choice, an extra yard on the ball and he saves it.
I feel sorry for Pires, I fee sorry for Dennis who would have come on if we had 11 men.
I feel sorry for Arsene who had set Arsenal up perfectly for the game. We looked more dangerous than them and started better. They even had to move the "best player in the world" to the centre because they knew he wouldnt get much of the ball on the left.
The clown referee ruined what was starting to become a facinating game so lets hope UEFA can use their power to get them together again in Athens next year.
Coz we know that the ruling bodies can always make things happen when they really want them too. Thats why they have refs like that clown.
A ref FIFA didnt think fit to go to the WCup, yet UEFA give the most important Euro game of the year!!!

Arsenal are about to sign Thomas Rosicky, a creative defensive midfileder.
Cost Dortmund 12mil 5 years ago when he was 20, we get him for 6 mil in a fire sale.
He scored 15 goals in 50odd internationals.
Probably bought him as Abou Diaby will be out most of the season after than norvern cnut did him.
I said at the time to a mate that could cost us as Diaby was the sort of player you might want to be able to bring on for the last 10-15mins of the Cl final if defending a lead and so it turned out!!!
Walcott will be a very good player, I ve seen him play on videos, hes got exactly the sort of speed a footballer needs and great technique!
Smart move by Arsene to get him into the Eng set up, and give him experience without costing Arsenal anything in appearance fees!!
To say he'll be better than Henry is a bit statement, if he's as good Ill be delighted!!

Harry, i never called them cheats and divers, you are getting my post mixed up with somebody else - I'm on Arsenals side.
What i said was Arsenal will definately strenghthen the squad this year so they will
be in a better position to win. Losing 2-1 to barcelona with only ten men is a good
achievment, many a side have fared worse.
They are after all the best club side in the world, and will go on to beat the South Americans for the world club championship no doubt.

4th after spending most of the season playing without most of our first choice back 4, and without Vieira was a great effort.
We finished the season well despite the distraction of the CL final which meant we rested alot of players.
We now have a back 4 that can keep anyone at bay in an 11 v 11 game.
The transition that takes many clubs 2 seasons or more have been done in less that 1 and in that year we got to the Cl final.
I would bet that Arsenal will improve their points total this season more than any other club in the premiership. I bet the bookies wont make their handicap betting with the Chavs giving us 26 points start!!!
