BEIJING (AFX-ASIA) - The Chinese government has not been reporting all cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Beijing alone has between 100 and 200 "probable" cases, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said.

"I would guess the range would be between 100 and 200 probable cases in Beijing," Alan Schnur, a WHO infectious disease expert told a news conference.

Chinese authorities have admitted to four deaths and 40 cases in the capital. They have reported 1,445 cases nationwide with 65 deaths, most of them in the southern province of Guangdong.

They have come under criticism from domestic and foreign experts for under-reporting the extent of the problem.

The military is a key factor in what was described by the health organisation as a huge discrepancy in numbers.

"There have been cases that have not been reported," said Wolfgang Preiser, a WHO specialist involved in the investigation into SARS.

"The military seems to have its own system of reporting," he told the same news briefing. "This is one of the reasons for the huge discrepancy in the numbers."

The WHO has been pushing to visit military hospitals and it was finally granted permission today.

Preiser said the WHO team of experts split up into two groups and visited two separate hospitals but he gave no further details.

The need to quarantine potentially large numbers of individuals
who have been directly exposed to an infected person during the SARS
ten-day incubation period creates a serious challenge for health

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) Global Spread

According to the World Health organization (WHO) report, on
14.4.03, a cumulative total of 3169 cases of SARS, with 144 deaths,
have been reported to WHO from 21 countries. This represents an
increase of 213 cases and 25 deaths since the last update on Saturday.
Singapore has the world's fourth-highest number of cases, with 158
confirmed infections and 72 suspected. Twelve people are believed to
have died from the illness, and 84 have recovered. There are some 600
people currently under home quarantine in Singapore.

SINGAPORE (AFX-ASIA) - More than 2,400 people who could have been exposed to the SARS virus at the Pasir Panjang Wholesale Market here have been put under a 10-day quarantine, the government said.
The wholesale market, which supplies at least 70 pct of Singapore's vegetables needs, was shut down yesterday after a man working there was diagnosed with SARS.

"MOH (Ministry of Health) has now imposed a 10-day quarantine on all those who have worked or conducted business at Pasir Panjang wholesale vegetable market between April 5 and April 19," Minister for National Development Mah Bow Tan said at a news briefing today.

Dmatek Wins 2nd US Correctional Facility Bid



Will Supply Pioneering Wireless Inmate Tracking System



Dmatek Ltd., the London listed (DTK.L) provider of leading electronic monitoring
technologies, today announces a contract to provide an inmate tracking system in
a US correctional Facility. The contract was awarded to Dmatek's wholly owned
subsidiary, Elmo-Tech, which develops and markets the AMS-2000i inmate tracking
system. The new system, valued some $400,000 will become operative in early
2004.



A similar system was commissioned a year ago in another low risk facility in
Minnesota. A number of other, smaller scale systems are also used in pilots in
Europe and the Far East. The new system will be configured to monitor a few
hundred inmates, who will wear Elmo-Tech's standard tags, monitored by a
wireless network of smart control units distributed throughout the facility.



The AMS 2000i offering is currently the only available wireless inmate tracking
solution - a key advantage in a prison's demanding environment. The system does
not require any wiring, making it easy to set up and overall much more cost
effective than similar non-wireless products.



Elmo-Tech expects this newly formed market to develop considerably over the next
2-3 years. The potential for inmate tracking in US correctional industry market

Trading Update: Sales Strengthened, Solid Profit Shown



Dmatek Ltd., the London listed provider of leading electronic monitoring
technologies, today issues the following update on trading for the second half
of 2003, ending 31st December 2003:



Sales for the second half of the year increased 25% over the first half as a
result of continuing growth in new and existing accounts. This should result in
the company reporting revenues of approximately $15.8m for the year.



Gross profit was also higher for the period and for the year as a whole,
affected by the mix of products sold, new business won and favourable exchange
rates. The company's cash position has improved over the $11.6m which was
reported at the end of 2002.



Operational expenses were on budget, with R&D investment continuing on plan. The
company expects to post an operational and net profit for the year,
significantly ahead of market expectations.



In the second half of the year, we have seen increased demand for Elmo-Tech's
line of speciality tagging products, including remote alcohol monitoring, GPS
offender tracking, automatic voice verification and inmate tracking systems. We
are highly encouraged by the developments in Elmo-Tech's European market, where
the UK and France are preparing for new, mass-monitoring programs expected to
start in 2005. We believe we are well placed to win our share of this growing

Sales of HomeFree continued to grow during H2, doubling over the first year

Dmatek today said that Elmo-Tech, its
wholly owned subsidiary, has won a
three-year contract for tagging
equipment, technical support and
maintenance services in New South
Wales, Australia.
Immediate revenues from the new
contract are over $1m and the total
value is expected to reach some $2m
over the life of the program. The
agreement includes two one-year
extension options.
This contract follows an existing
contract with the NSW Department of
Corrections won by Elmo-Tech in 1998.
Further to a competitive tender process
during which it has extensively field
tested a number of systems, the NSW DOC
has decided to upgrade its currently
used Elmo-Tech systems to the new E3
monitoring platform.
The order includes a combination of
landline, cellular and mobile
monitoring units.
In March, Dmatek announced the sale of
a first E3 system, combining a standard
tagging system with a voice
verification module, to the programme
run by the Ministry of Justice in
Barcelona, Spain. The company's voice
verification technology was also
recently installed with customers in
England and the US.
