Ex Div date is 25/10/2004 with 25p/s. WOW !!

The Other Kevin - 14 Oct 2004 13:38 - 13 of 682

Before that there's the interim of 2.5p which goes exd on Oct 20.

StarFrog - 14 Oct 2004 13:43 - 14 of 682

Don't forget that there will also be a share restructuring and reconsolidation - 10 existing shares become 9 new shares. So expect the share price to drop by (at least)10% accordingly.

bush - 14 Oct 2004 13:43 - 15 of 682

be careful guys, the 25p will be paid, but there's gonna be a consolidation, 9 for 10 so not too great, i have a buy order at 230p, it looks like a downtrend but this winter's gonna be c o o o o o o ld

bush - 14 Oct 2004 13:44 - 16 of 682

stockbunny - 14 Oct 2004 13:46 - 17 of 682

Opto - yes you're right...it's fact versus instinct time...
LOL thanks for putting those forward, worth knowing.

stockbunny - 14 Oct 2004 13:48 - 18 of 682

Bush - can I just check on that consolidation you mentioned,
They are keeping 9 in circulation after for every 10 currently?
Hopfully I've understood that right! Thanks.

optomistic - 14 Oct 2004 13:48 - 19 of 682

Stockbunny: All you need to know

(14 Oct 2004)

Centrica completes sale of the AA

Centrica plc today confirmed that it has completed the sale of the AA to a
company formed by CVC Capital Partners Ltd and Permira Advisers Ltd, as
announced on 1 July 2004.

This follows receipt of all regulatory clearances from the respective bodies in
the UK, the Channel Islands, Ireland and the European Commission.

A circular will shortly be posted to shareholders setting out full details of
Centrica's proposals, also announced on 1 July, for a special dividend and
accompanying share consolidation.

Payment of the special dividend is conditional on shareholder approval for the
share consolidation, which will be sought at an extraordinary general meeting.
Details of the meeting will be included in the circular.

The intention is to return a total of not less than 1.5 billion to shareholders
via a combination of the proposed special dividend and a rolling share
repurchase programme which is already under way.

The proposed special dividend amounts to approximately ten per cent of
Centrica's market capitalisation as at close of business on 30 September
(adjusted to take account of the interim dividend of 2.5p per share), and will
total 1.058 billion, or 25 pence per share. The proposed share consolidation
will similarly reduce the number of Centrica shares in issue by approximately
ten per cent, on a basis of nine new shares for every ten presently held.

The expected anticipated timetable for the extraordinary general meeting,
payment of the interim dividend of 2.5 pence per share, declared on 29 July
2004, and payment of the proposed special dividend is as follows:

Wednesday 20 Oct 2004: Ex dividend date for interim dividend

Thursday 21 Oct 2004: Extraordinary general meeting, 10am, at the Ibis London
Earls Court Hotel, London, SW6 1UD.

Friday 22 Oct 2004: Record date for interim dividend, proposed special dividend
and proposed share consolidation

Monday 25 Oct 2004: Ex dividend date for proposed special dividend and first day
of dealing in new ordinary shares

Wednesday 17 Nov 2004: Payment date for interim dividend and proposed special
dividend.

bush - 14 Oct 2004 13:52 - 22 of 682

yes stockbunny, but hopefully it will track the (upward!!!!) FTSE so we'll have the 25p and regain the uptrend. Even if it doesn't, Although it has just been cut by some broker, it's good value.

bush - 14 Oct 2004 13:53 - 23 of 682

(sigh) always the bridesmaid.................

stockbunny - 14 Oct 2004 13:58 - 24 of 682

Thanks StarFrog and Choccie!
Bush - the potential payout is tempting, but you need to really be
happy about the idea of holding it afterwards, maybe for a while,
if you are, no problem, if not it needs more thought..
:>)

The Other Kevin - 14 Oct 2004 14:12 - 25 of 682

Could it fall back to near the July level when the special divi and share consolidation was announced?

optomistic - 14 Oct 2004 14:18 - 26 of 682

T..O..K if only we knew

The Other Kevin - 14 Oct 2004 14:21 - 27 of 682

If only, indeed. Anyway, watching and waiting. I'd like this in my portfolio but I think it's just a bit too high at present.

stockbunny - 14 Oct 2004 14:23 - 28 of 682

The consolidation is my main concern - at current prices for
arguments sake you would loose a lot of the divi gain
(approx 238p currently - 27.5p total divi due in Nov)
doesn't make the potential gain as attractive as it might be....

bush - 14 Oct 2004 14:27 - 29 of 682

You're right stockbunny, i'm only buying 5000 on cfds, if i've made a mistake i'll cut my losses, but i am looking at a 6 month holding, they are trying their best to support the price, I think i'm ramping, no don't buy this, buy Petroleum Utilities Medical Providence (ticker:PUMP) then invest your profit in Dragon Universal Marketing Products (sorry can't remember the ticker)
