Tanfield Group - any info out there? (TAN)

mr mike - 21 Jan 2004 13:49

Tanfield Group is the new company name of Comeleon. As I understand it, Comoleon was getting into trouble so TAN (paerent company?) took over. Since this has happened the share price has dropped by 0.25p each day for the last week or so (on average) and are now around the 3p mark with very little activity.

Does anyone know much about this company or previously held stock in Comeleon? There is virtually no info out there other than on the company website.

cheers

Mike

Rise appears to be on the back of a brokers buy reiteration.

kimoldfield - 04 Aug 2008 11:56 - 1006 of 1076

Up 1.61p, a false dawn or the beginnings of a steady climb. TAN has been a traders paradise recently!

cynic - 04 Aug 2008 12:27 - 1007 of 1076

reasonable guess would be that auditors have given clean bill of health rather than anything more exciting

Great to see the this price risenot in personally but I know who are40% and rising good luck to you all!

Watch the takeover bid rumours start! Could do with L2 getting back online!

Falcothou - 04 Aug 2008 14:19 - 1010 of 1076

Copper has plummeted today as well which could be a factor with their electric mototrs

hangon - 04 Aug 2008 16:52 - 1011 of 1076

I hope it's more than Copper - these motors use very little copper and are a small part of the vans....furthermore these vehicles are a small part of the original (2007) Tanfield, so "copper" would need to become almost Free to make any real impact.

It might be investigating the Accounts - no-news is good news etc.

Fred1new - 04 Aug 2008 18:17 - 1012 of 1076

I hope, if Tanfields consider a takeover bid, that the shareholders will send a lynch mob to have a quiet chat with the board.

kimoldfield - 04 Aug 2008 18:31 - 1013 of 1076

Fred I honestly can't see a takeover here, there aren't that many companies who relate to TAN's industry at the moment. The diesel/petrol vehicle companies won't want to get involved because it would be an admission that their industry is looking at the end of their life, and the 'green' companies are too involved with trying to beat the rest, not take them over or merge. Only my opinion though, maybe in a year or two my opinion will change!

hangon - 05 Aug 2008 10:41 - 1014 of 1076

kimoldfield- suspect yr right, only "choice" companies need fear a takeover ( although Meldex appears to have more than their fair share). But this Co isn't really a "green play" - Elec-vehicles was a small part of their turnover. Admittedly that might grow in %, as the Access-business wanes - but fundamentally this is a cracking business providing access machines. Er, it says here.
IF (big if) they can keep it going, with sales in Eastern Europe, middle-east etc ( where the building hasn't stopped), then they should continue to have a small "Green vehicle" division . . . .
Strip out the poor Exec performance and starting a Bus Co - with good management these prices are a bargain.....provided the accountants don't find any deep-holes. Let's not forget the City paid 1.60/share only last August....how dumb do they look now? Fortunately it wasn't we punters - for this is a whopping Discount to that price and as they bailed out - that created the dramatic fall - as City types realised they might be caught napping.
Only my opinion, too. I hold from about 12p evens.

EDIT:-The only worry is ( read start of thread =Mr Mike), their history isn't good. BUT that was 4-years ago and much excitement has happened since, including our Prime Minister (Blair) opening their new factory. It was this "excitement" that let the sp race ahead of reality. Maybe it was never worth more than 50p - but it sure wasn't down to the 10-p levels we see today. This is fear price! This SP was topsy-turvy - with 20% turnover (elec.) being valued at 80% - IF that was so (prior to buying snorkel, now refinanced - eh?)... then the correct sp was nearer to 20p - add in snorkell and it's about 25, plus 5p for Elec, making maybe 30p with 20p-extra for "Goodwill-green" etc. But that is 4x today's prices and I;m a pessimist.
-So mucgh rests on those new Auditors.....hope it's good, but anticipate bad, eh? Up again today -
EDIT 26 Aug08-5%down, yet Buys@8p are 3x the Sells. . . . whatever happened to (new) Auditor's Report?

driver - 28 Aug 2008 13:02 - 1015 of 1076

Some one is buying a lot of 1000's

pumben - 03 Sep 2008 07:33 - 1016 of 1076

Any views on since last week the buys have out stripped the sells every day but the SP has been dropping most of the week, is it MM playing games or a big seller waiting for their order to fill or something else ?

skyhigh - 03 Sep 2008 09:43 - 1017 of 1076

Who Knows! but I'm holding on all the same... sp could go belly up with bad results etc... or it could suddenly go up..

pumben - 11 Sep 2008 07:30 - 1018 of 1076

Same old pattern regarding the sell & buys, yesterday 11m > 1.5m and yet the SP drops, I know the results are due on the 25th and investors are probably waiting to see the current situation but you would have thought that yesters B v S would have led to an increase in the SP, any thoughts ??

Falcothou - 11 Sep 2008 08:33 - 1019 of 1076

Buys and sells are not always as they seem. Thanks for the reminder about up coming results. I quite like the strategy of buying pre results and selling just before them on the basis that no one knows what they may be unless of course leaked, so shorts close and prospectors buy. Nice to know there is limited downside as well. Directors bought at around this level, so will take a small punt

Fred1new - 11 Sep 2008 10:18 - 1020 of 1076

PUM and FAl. I have been looking at the B/S over the last five days and although I recognise these figures are only estimates wondered why the SP is dropping. I am wondering if there has been a large undisclosed sell and the MMs are slowly dumping them. Don't know.

hangon - 11 Sep 2008 17:03 - 1021 of 1076

IN generall the MM's attempt to keep an empty or balanced book, so if there is a big seller they have to find Buyers for then, hence the price drops....
But as this is on-going it may be folk attempting to shake the tree, to find weak-holders who will drop out and their shares can be bought cheaply -
I suspect there are many in the City that bought at 1.60 a year ago (Placing), and would like to buy them at today's price, to average down.

I suspect there is a business here, but worry that the Execs are not up to the task in "difficult" times. If the Resultsa re to believed, maybe it will be a long haul. . . . .what else do we expect, I wonder. This level of incompetance does not come good overnight.
I hold from 9p-ish

Fred1new - 11 Sep 2008 18:34 - 1022 of 1076

Interesting, at the bell there was a 2 sells equal to about 61K and later buys to about 120k. I wonder if anybody who has level 2 can confirm these were buys or sells.

dealerdear - 11 Sep 2008 20:19 - 1023 of 1076

As far as I am aware, unless I have missed it, aren't their accounts being independently investigated? Dangerous to buy I would have thought until they give the all clear.

tipton11 - 12 Sep 2008 16:41 - 1024 of 1076

buys have exceeded sells for quite a long time and still they go down .. however bt a few more @ 6.09 yesterday might even think of averaging.
