morning all,
from this is money today, all press exposure helps.

Another 46m Stanelco shares changed hands and the close was 2⅞p up at 14⅞p. It has granted supermarket Asda a 60-day option period for both parties to reach an agreement on access to its sealing technology for food retailing the UK and Ireland.

Taking advantage of the current strength of its share price, Stanelco also placed 38m shares at 12⅞p raising 4.8m for working capital

bosley - 10 Feb 2005 08:07 - 1008 of 27111

MASSIVE WORLDWIDE MARKETS !

Tray lidding including ready meals, RF sealing of flat packs like bacon etc, RF sealing of foil lids on things like yoghurt etc, biodegradable foamed starch trays and fast food packaging, car protective coating, water soluble packaging and security tape, biodegradable air pillow packaging, starch based detergent and other capsules, starch based soup and similar food packets, fiber optic furnaces to supply the upcoming boom as the internet moves to 10gb/s requiring fiber cables to the home. And many other markets SEO will be getting a slice of.

SEO are going to cover tray lidding for meat packaging - 25,000 machines growing by 2000 per annum, tray lidding for ready meals - billions of these meals sold in the USA every year so there must be a massive number of machines to convert just there, flat packaging for bacon, cheese, etc, foil lidding - billions of those packages used too. That is just a few examples.

LOOK at the prospects for just Tray Lidding :)

I think every 100 machines is worth 8p per share, so if you work it out, we already have 100 per year from Reiser, so thats the base price which we won't go below of 8p.

That means ....

Grampian 500 machines is worth 40p
Oscar Meyer 30 machines is worth 2.6p
Anglo Beef maybe 120 machines is worth 9.6p
ASDA maybe 500 machines is worth 40p
Wal-Mart thousands of machines is worth :)

Other possibles are ....
Hazlewoods 800 machines is worth 64p
Northern Foods at least 800 machines is worth 64p+
Carrefour Thousands of machines is worth :)
Packaging Automation Thousands of machines is worth :)
Youngs Fisheries ?, ferndalefoods ?, Aldi ?, Co-op ?, J. Sainsburys ?, Marks & Spencer ?, Morrisons ?, Safeway ?, Somerfield ?, Dansk ?, Tesco ?, Waitrose ?, Muller ?, Danish Bacon ?, The Dawn Group (meat processors) ?, Smithfield Foods (worlds largest pork processor) ?, Tyson Fresh Meats (worlds largest supplier of premium beef and pork) ?, Whole Foods Market (organic retailer) ?, Sardus (meat proceesors, ready meals) ?, Unilever ?, Birds Eye + Weightwatchers ?, Ter Beke ?, Macrae Food Group ?, Kerry Foods ?

And the list goes on !!!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Worst case scenario for companies using heat sealing instead of RF

Anglo Beef Processors
20 plants, each producing around 600,000 retail packs per week
Loses 360,000 packs a year at 3% loss, plus 45 fine per pack is 16,200,000 in fines
Oscar Mayer
Over 3 million ready meals a year
Loses 90,000 packs a year at 3% loss, plus 45 fine per pack is 4,050,000 in fines
Hazlewoods
Package 80,000,000 ready meals a year
Loses 2,400,000 packs a year at 3% loss, plus 45 fine per pack is 108,000,000 in fines
Northern foods
Package more ready meals per year than Hazlewoods
Loses a minimum of 2,400,000 packs a year at 3% loss, plus 45 fine per pack is 108,000,000 in fines also as a minimum
Grampian
500 machines tens of millions of packages per year
Loses shed loads too, in packages and costs !!!!

Asda cites the case of one supplier which produces 1m trays of meat per week and typically receives 1,800 complaints. Handling all this work creates a serious cost.
1800 duff packets, with a fine of 45 is 81,000 PER WEEK LOST .... EASILY PAYS FOR TRAY LIDDING AT 35,000 PER MACHINE DOESN'T IT !!!!

Stanelco races on Asda deal 09/02/2005 4:30:00 PM

LONDON (ShareCast) - Stanelco is proving to be an impressive play for its investors as further information regarding its deal with Asda saw it race even further ahead today.

The packaging specialist has granted Asda a 60 day option period during which the two companies will seek to reach agreement regarding Asda's access to Stanelco's new food packaging sealing technology

Stanelco said the agreement would include details of the duration of any exclusivity agreement with the number two supermarket player.

Other news today was a placing by KBC Peel Hunt of 38m ordinary shares at a price of 12.8p per share, well above yesterday’s 12.0p closing price, to raise about 4.8m, to be used for working capital for current development projects.

Stanelco announced yesterday that results of its trials with Asda had proved very successful, which in turn led to today’s option period with Asda.

Stanelco said a wide range of fresh food products sealed with its technology have been taken to the end of customer life with exceptional results in relation to odour, visual and taste of both raw and cooked foods.

The shares have clocked up impressive gains, rising nearly 150% in the last month alone.

100% compostable packaging launched in UK

By Julie Bieles 08/02/2005

Compak is using Novamonts starch-based material.

8 February 2005 A UK food company released a food range packaged in 100% compostable packaging last week.

Organic Farm Foods locally sourced range is packaged in Novamonts starch-based material Mater-bi that is converted by Herefordshire-based Compak (Packaging).

Compak director Dave Holbourn said: What makes the Local Farm Series brand truly unique is that even though we are printing seven colour images on bags and labels, we are still producing packaging that totally breaks down in [domestic compost in] less than 12 weeks.

He said: Everything, including the tiny constituent parts such as sticky tape and display labels, is made from plant-based ingredients and will end up as compost in the 12-week period.

Five lines are available swedes, carrots, leeks, potatoes in 2.5 and 5kg packs but the range will be expanded to about 17 lines.

The food range is available in some Waitrose stores in Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire

08/02/2005 - A trial initiative in the UK suggests that the use of radio waves to rapidly seal materials, enabling conventional plastics to be economically replaced with recyclable and biodegradable alternatives, has a bright future.

Radio frequency (RF) applications group Stanelco has just received the results of an innovative trial carried out in conjunction with UK supermarket Asda. The company wanted to see whether RF technology used to process polymers could help create packaging solutions capable of preserving foods for longer.
According to Stanelco, a range of fresh food products packed in RF-technology packaging was found to provide excellent results in relation to odour, appearance and taste.

Gas analysis was also used to demonstrate organoleptic acceptability, further emphasising the opportunities that RF technology presents to the food packaging industry.

The stability trials were carried out on food trays made from a single polyester material and sealed using Stanelco's technology using a polyester film lid. The equipment used to seal the trays was a conventional tray-lidding machine, which had been retrofitted with Stanelco's technology.

The trays contained a well-known foodstuff packed in a protective, inert, atmosphere.

This is an important step on the road to commercialisation, said Ian Balchin, Stanelco chief executive.

It demonstrates that laminated materials can be replaced with more economic, recyclable materials sealed using Stanelco's revolutionary energy-efficient technology and paves the way for in-store retailing trials and on to full commercialisation.

Many analysts believe that biodegradable packaging has a bright future. Growing environmental awareness and consumer power coupled with the inexorable rise in pre-packaged disposable meals means that food manufacturers and packagers are increasingly being targeted to improve their environmental performances.

Datamonitor statistics show that more than one-third of European consumers live alone and are spending 140 billion a year on food, drinks and personal care products. Single people spend 50 per cent more per person on consumer-packaged goods than a two adult household. Such trends underline why the environmental impact of food packaging has never been greater.

Stanelco was founded in 1953 and is now a world leader in the development of radio frequency technologies for processing polymers for edible and packaging applications and the design and manufacture of optical fibre technology, induction heating and dielectric welding equipment.

The company's current core business is the manufacture of optical fibre using RF.

Stanelco has been applying its technology to other markets. Current developments include biodegradable air cushion packaging, sealing of low-cost conventional plastics for food packaging, water-soluble detergent capsules, foamed starch trays, edible sachets and waste packing.

Price dropping a bit now , anyone think its going to settle down now ..Jb

AdieH - 10 Feb 2005 10:42 - 1023 of 27111

Wouldn't surprise me, cannot complain cause i'm up 80% in two weeks... Need to take a breath.

Fred1new - 10 Feb 2005 11:06 - 1024 of 27111

Please Miss. If there has been a placing with KBC Peel Hunt of 38m ordinary shares at a price of 12.8p per share, that could mean and overhang of those shares in the market for a number of days until they are dispose of and therefore a probable standstill of price movement of ? above 12.8p for a little time. Am I right in this thinking or not?
