" Hi Jim,it's George here,I need to exit my cable short, you couldn't announce that Sterling's going to hell in a hand cart could you? I could do with another 1000 pips"

hilary - 30 Jan 2009 12:59 - 10183 of 11056

Loonie going nuts.

MightyMicro - 30 Jan 2009 13:20 - 10184 of 11056

You've waited for months to post that Hil, haven't you?

chocolat - 30 Jan 2009 13:21 - 10185 of 11056

Not as long as she did for the KP gag :)

chocolat - 30 Jan 2009 17:10 - 10186 of 11056

Hey we're nearly there Hiltops :)

chocolat - 30 Jan 2009 17:30 - 10187 of 11056

If you draw 2 lines through the lows and highs from 12 onwards on the chunnelly thing, we're just about diving into the nose now.

Sue 42 - 04 Feb 2009 10:16 - 10188 of 11056

Hi

Does anyone trade Fx with CMC S/B I have noticed teh oddest thing on GBPUSD normally (most of the time) it is a 3point spread but then suddenly for no reason it moves to a 15 point spread for a few seconds.

Any ideas?

Seymour Clearly - 04 Feb 2009 10:51 - 10189 of 11056

Yes Sue, I have that at times, happens more on an evening and I'm fed up with it.

Bobcolby - 04 Feb 2009 12:18 - 10190 of 11056

Sue

Maybe stop loss raids??

hilary - 04 Feb 2009 12:36 - 10191 of 11056

The market has been very gappy again this week. They may just be widening the spread for a short time while they try to get a position away themselves.

If that's the case I think you've just got to live with it.

goforit - 04 Feb 2009 12:36 - 10192 of 11056

sue42. its something I noticed with them, did mention it on a cmc thread back in december. Think most of the f(X)ucket shops alter their spreads in thin/volatile markets, some of them even had the decency to tell you it might happen, something cmc forgot to mention.

PS happy new year all you fxers, hope you didnt mind hils, just had to go and check out the white stuff for a little while before the french arrived enmasse in feb..... it was nice and fairly quiet, weather a bit mixed, some great powder at times!

Falcothou - 04 Feb 2009 15:32 - 10193 of 11056

Cable must be getting quite toppy in terms of trendline , anticipated cut tomorrow imho though seems to rally with banks and indices which are squeezing the bears til they squeal

Seymour Clearly - 04 Feb 2009 16:24 - 10194 of 11056

Commentary about cable from elsewhere:

Stops are building above the 1.4500 level with short-term traders invoking their god-given right to fade anything resembling a trend. Technically, the pair looks pretty good if it can overcome resistance in the 1.4545/50 area. A break of that zone would target the 1.49/1.50 region again, levels last seen in mid-January.

chocolat - 05 Feb 2009 21:47 - 10195 of 11056

Bank cuts rate to record low

Anyone recognise a trader formerly known as ... Most Outrageous Southerner? ;)

Falcothou - 09 Feb 2009 15:28 - 10196 of 11056

Well you were right about 1.49/50, Seymour. What's your secret to riding a trend? Have you taken profits and gone short or are you waiting for this new Bail-out to get finalised?

hilary - 09 Feb 2009 15:49 - 10197 of 11056

Flossie's secret is a can of dog food and a 2am call on his alarm clock.

:o)

Seymour Clearly - 09 Feb 2009 16:07 - 10198 of 11056

She's not wrong :-))

Hil knows about my nocturnal habits.....

Incidentally Falco, that wasn't me commenting, it was cut 'n' pasted from another site.

MightyMicro - 09 Feb 2009 17:41 - 10199 of 11056

Hil knows about my nocturnal habits..... hope she doesn't know about mine.

goforit - 09 Feb 2009 18:57 - 10200 of 11056

or mine!

Falcothou - 09 Feb 2009 19:02 - 10201 of 11056

I hear dog food can be more nutritionally beneficial than the majority of British dietary habits, is that accompanied by a nice glass of Chateau-neuf?
