Subject: Investor enquiry RE: Sustainable Packaging Forum 05
Dear Sir/Madam,
I write to you as a stanelco shareholder to enquire about the Sustainable
Packaging Forum 05 on
October 17-19, 2005, Sheraton Society Hill, Philadelphia, PA, U.S.A. I have
been informed by other shareholders that Stanelco will be in attendance and
I would like you to tell me on which days the company will be there so that
i could arrange to attend for myself.
I would appreciate a swift response to this query
Yours Gratefully,
Gary Patterson

Garypat.
Thanks. That is good reading.
This is what we need - words from SEO people and potential partners sooner than the products of the imaginations of the insecure, unsure or iidiots.

Good evening team,
I have returned from the Birmingham Packaging show and if any of you are local to the NEC I can recommend the SEO stand to you for the last day (Thursday). Howard White should be there too.
If you are free you could pop over to Las Vegas where SEO are running another trade show this week.
Upon entering the hall and locating Stanelco on the plan, I made my way past numerous packagers stands, the majority of which had one or two sales staff standing idly around or handing out free pens. - I turned a corner to see the Stanelco stand heaving with punters ! No gimmicks required for the SEO stand.
I counted 7 SEO staff on duty, including Ian Balchin, and Terry Robins. Many times while I was there, every one of them was engaged with potential clients.
Not wanting to divert attention from potential buyers who were having technical talks from the SEO staff, I simply lurked nearby for a while, catching the names of a few of the visitors ; a team from Nestle, others from Glaxo Smith Kline engaged in demos with the techies and IB.
A corporate DVD was running showing Frogpack drop test and a Greenseal machine at work on a batch run. A Greenseal machine was on display and samples of the trays and sealed products were handed around
On speaking to staff, they were very pleased with the high level of interest and the quality of the visitors- showing real interest in the product lines. Specialists from the different business areas were there. Frogpack, Aquasol, Greenseal, Starpol and PulsLine (new).
Spoke with Ian Balchin for a short while- he was very busy. IB was obviously very pleased with the way the show was going. Discussed the importance of ASDA and their agreement to commit to a minimum of 200 machines. When I queried the timing of the rollouts he seemed unable to be specific on when the conversions would occur. Packagers would have to take a machine off-line temporarily in order for a retro-fit of Greenseal RF technology. SEO have a machine available to cover this down-time, and they are also working with Mondini to have new machines available instead of a retro-fitting.
IB was very enthusiastic over the Biotec acquisition. The fit between the two companies was perfect and brings a key raw material provider in-house. He mentioned the starch based trays and how their target price was to get below the current petrochemical-based / plastic trays in current usage. This is likely to be a very major source of earnings for SEO going forward, but once again the question mark is over the timing. Not an if but a when. The target to get the starch based product below the current plastic is getting closer all the time
Queries over the timing of the rollout of the ASDA packagers conversions, IMHO pose the biggest threat to the share price as we are likely to see erosion of the sp without positive newsflow.
.
Obviously IB could say nothing of a price-sensitive nature when I asked about the closeness of Wal-Mart. He was quite straight about the fact that Wal-Mart are fully aware of the ASDA exercise. More than that he could not say. Did I detect a twinkle in the eye? I did not go to the show expecting any confidential news, but more to get an impression of the quality of management, the competence of their senior staff and to try to judge the level of confidence with their propositions going forward. I came away satisfied on all three counts.
Everyone needs to be fully aware that SEO has incredible potential- the current timing of their product lines with environmental issues and petroleum prices have improved SEOs chances of success. The question mark remains over timing of deals which I was not able to ascertain today.
Still holding for the medium long term but I have been accumulating since 4p. DYOR and this is just my take on the day.
Not worried

Just some of those that have covered the PulsLine(R) story in addition to those already mentioned. The word is spreading. No doubt there will be coverage of the Birmingham Packaging show to follow.

I'm not worried. The Bears will hibernate for the winter and the bulls will have a free run from October.
The concepts that SEO are unveiling are new enough that such a sea change in packaging will take a while for all the benefits to become apparent and businesses are notoriously slow on the uptake, even when the potential is huge. The IBM chairman was on record as stating he could see a time when there may be 4 or 5 computers in the world and the markets thought he was a crackpot ramper. Alan Sugar of Amstrad said 512kb of memory was enough for any home pc and his company would supply all the worlds pc requirements. After the invention of the light bulb, gas shares plummited to the extent that parliament had an enquiry that stated the idea of electric lights burning in every home was fanciful and absurd. Gas shares rocketed. SEO have not created something as huge as that, but they have built a better mousetrap, and history teaches us two lessons, no-one will beat a path to their door, and investors who invest by the rules will be shown to get it all wrong. That change starts in October. It would be a very strange company who ratify a deal with a buyer just before a series of trade shows where they may be able to quantify supply and demand better and set their price more accordingly. It would be a badly managed company that signed exclusive agreements for all their products just before these shows where better opportunities may exist. SEO are neither. Treat this as a buying opportunity and enjoy the winter.
Alan
