ASOS: BUY AT LOW PRICE!!!! (ASC)

wilco99 - 12 Sep 2003 15:52

ASOS have dropped quite significantly in the past week for no particular reason and I view this as the perfect opportunity to invest as I can see them bouncing right back up to the 5.50p mark in the next 2-3 weeks. STRONG BUY!!

Welcome, Dil

legend290782 - 20 Jan 2005 13:18 - 1021 of 5941

The legend likes Tandem group (TND) he was in for a cheeky 50k last week at 20. Have a look at forward eps, puts the p/e on a gift!!! Plenty of cash. My only concern is that company is badly run.. but there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I would hope for a 50% mark up at least eric.

Have you seen POL and DA. today eric???!! The legend strikes again!!

By the way I fear any PDX holders in this competition... although I sold out a few weeks ago, that share is potentially moon bound. I have heard good rumours of contract wins.

Post your email address on here eric..

Kivver - 20 Jan 2005 15:41 - 1022 of 5941

i'll have a go please, cheers

sandrew64 - 20 Jan 2005 17:40 - 1023 of 5941

Eric, do you want me to list my four selections on here or shall I email you directly? By the way that's direct to you and not in the Cornish sense.

EWRobson - 20 Jan 2005 18:54 - 1024 of 5941

Suggest selections are posted here or on new thread. Reserving the right to modify tomorrow evening (if one roars away or collapses) my selection is 5K each in AZM (Alizyme), CFP (City Finance Associates), MLS (Medical Solutions), SEO (Stanelco): 2 emerging; 2 bombed out!

Eric

capa - 20 Jan 2005 19:46 - 1025 of 5941

I'll start off with equal amounts of 5K also Eric in the following:

NRG (Northern Recruitment) MOB (Monstermob) NLR (Neteller) CASH (Cardpoint)

NRG and MOB have results out soon and both should be very good, CASH has released an excellent trading statement yesterday and seriously undervalued,
and NLR just because :-)

Wish we had started last week the last three have been flying recently.

bosley - 20 Jan 2005 20:14 - 1026 of 5941

hello eric. put me down for 10k seo (stanelco), 5k dgm (deal group media), and 5k agl(angle)
SEO is my baby
DGM reminds me of asc a year ago
AGL has many fingers in many pies , some of which come to fruition this year, worth a look.

EWRobson - 20 Jan 2005 21:29 - 1027 of 5941

capa (C), bosley (B)

Fine. That's the problem, capa, as we found out with previous exercise. You'll regret not going for AZM though! Surpised that bos hasn't put all his money on SEO!

dawsinho - 20 Jan 2005 23:11 - 1028 of 5941

Eric,

Here we go....

5k a piece: SPS (mob phone games) DES (oil) PKL (healthcare and foodservice industries) IDS (retail)

Think sps might drift a little until we have any news, but the potential is massive. Des is waiting to poss announce farm in partners for projects in the Falklands. Pkl seems to have captured a niche market and ids is currently pausing for breath until the next push up!!!

Sure i'll be proved wrong on all accounts and my portfolio will plummet... ha ha

Oh yeah mph was in the back of my mind but thought i'd leave it out for now.

WOODIE - 21 Jan 2005 07:10 - 1029 of 5941

only downside in statement is in line with forcasts will the sp go up or down?

princess - 21 Jan 2005 09:12 - 1030 of 5941

This thread is getting very confusing, and ASC seems to get just an occasional mention! Surely these selections would be better on a separate thread?

EWRobson - 21 Jan 2005 12:08 - 1031 of 5941

princess: agreed; new 2nd ASOS Challenge portfolio is indeed now on a separate thread, so we are just in changeover mode.

WOODIE: agree very much in line with forecast. Amazing that bumper Xmas is just taken as in line with expectations. Full year forecast is 1.5m pbt on sales of 15m; I expect latter is on low side. Current expectations for next year are drop in pe from 36 to 24, i.e 50% rise in pbt. Sounds demanding, but, given that much of ASC overheads are fixed, probably can be achieved without significant developments except for new warehouse and what is in pipeline (Miss Sixty and own label). Developments, such as that into TV and anything significant in US market, are certainly not priced in. BUY or ACCUMULATE at current price. DYOR, of course, but comments soundly researched!

johngtudor - 21 Jan 2005 12:09 - 1032 of 5941

princess: A new thread was established yeaterday by EWRobson. It is the 2nd ASOS Challenge for those interested. The new thread should remove all the so called 'clutter' from this thread. OK? JGT

EWRobson - 21 Jan 2005 12:12 - 1033 of 5941

john: beat you by a minute! Reactions to results and current chart?
Eric

jcatilli - 21 Jan 2005 12:23 - 1034 of 5941

Any ideas what's rocking the boat?

Was there something negative in the statement?

dawsinho - 21 Jan 2005 12:25 - 1035 of 5941

Think the results we're great, but i was waiting for something to wet my appetite so to speak. That something extra that would give us the momentum to push up to the pound barrier.

Kivver - 21 Jan 2005 12:33 - 1036 of 5941

The results were as expected so no move up or down, but excellent prospects for further growth, so its a matter of when not if imho.

legend290782 - 21 Jan 2005 13:15 - 1037 of 5941

Eric: Here we go... all 20k on the nose on tnd Tandem group. Count the LEGEND in!! Good luck others. Who votes, every man puts 1k in the pot and winner takes all??!! ;-)

Woodie, Our Toa were tipped as a buy for 2005 in city confidential. Plenty more to come I hope. Will post on the toa bb later.

Cheers

johngtudor - 21 Jan 2005 13:27 - 1038 of 5941

Eric + Guys: Truly impressive results. Although at this SP we still have a high PE and therefore expectation. I would expect the SP to move once Analyst briefings on these results have been held....so if you are Long, hold for that. Investors will be looking for signs at the meeting that the momentum can be maintained in the face of all these 'bearish' media comments about slowing retail spending. They will also want updates on future plans/products. Clearly though the market has not been taken by surprise at the results, and the SP has been marked down (haven't we seen this before though, buy on expectation, sell on the results)...but I would suggest this is only a temporary reaction and unless we have analyst markdowns after their briefings we should see a return to a higher SP. Current Charts indicating a 1+ SP, although I am concerned about my standard simple averages turning down. So we may yet get a better BUY opportunity over the next few days or so.

Hope this helps.
