Dominion is an independent energy company dedicated to exploration for new oil and gas reserves in East and Central Africa.
The Group was founded in 2004 and the strategy is to become the leading independent upstream exploration company in this region.
DPL intend to achieve this objective by using their experienced management team, their firm contacts and partners in East and
Central Africa and their excellent understanding of the geology of the region.
DPL are continuing to build on their strong acreage position in Tanzania and the Albertine Rift Basin (Uganda and Democratic
Republic of Congo) by adding new exploration opportunities in other emerging petroleum provinces in East and Central Africa.
The company currently has 57,356 square kilometers (14.17 Million acres) under license in Tanzania, Uganda and the Democratic
Republic of Congo (net to Dominions interest 53,573 square kilometers or 13.24 Million acres).

think i did some dosh on this one a year or so back

do you rate this one friend hali?
order book looks uncomfortably weighted towards sellers which is of some concern, even though volume is very heavy

halifax - 22 Oct 2010 15:46 - 104 of 141

cynic we got caught when they announced a duster in Uganda so we averaged at around 3p waiting for some positive news, AGM coming up next month.

cynic - 22 Oct 2010 15:57 - 105 of 141

i always (well, quite often!) pay attention to what you post and was moderately tempted, but it worries me that offer outnumbers bid about 2:1, so not sure why the huge volume if it's positive

Forget about this...of all the oilies to pick....not this unless for a quick buck...if you want exposure to offshore Tanzania, take a look at COV, or even little AEX who will probably be respudding soon....

halifax - 22 Oct 2010 16:07 - 108 of 141

cynic possibly sp reacting to BG. RNS about drilling progress in Tanzania which is becoming a bit of a hotspot for E&P companies including your favourite TLW.

cynners ,Post Lake Edward duster , Since July i have been automatically trading in high volume @ 3.2 or so and selling beteen 3.8 and 4.00 .(only interday candlestick charts with their long wicks really illustates the riduculous regularity of this pattern ) .. so good for a quick buck ...But should j/vs with Soco or Maurel et Prom prove positive the entire ballgame changes but with over 1.5 billion shares in the mix big returns will be surely minimal ..but until news is known it remains a bit like painting by numbers play .A bit of fun - but lucrative. l agree with RF ...lf you want some exposure on what is being dubbed the new" hydrocarbon highway", and more importantly, serious money COV with over 50 leads on East African shelf from Kenya to mozambique is one to watch with a keen eye - ...-well capitalized , well run. well supported by insts, and well liked among city wallahs coupled with interests in two recent 8-12 TCF strikes of gas with Anakardo as oppos makes it an attractive investment

cynic - 23 Oct 2010 16:23 - 110 of 141

thanks TFC and RF .... have eyed COV a few times and may now buy a few and tuck them away (for at least a couple of months!)

niceonecyril - 23 Oct 2010 17:32 - 111 of 141

Just checked COV out on advfn, their's a posterunder the name" thecynical1"?

TFC have you checked out PTR,some great feed back from those that attended the OB presentation. Russian based and has blocks next to the former IEC.

many thanks NOC - i shall re investigate / re-evaluate Not overkeeen on investing in Russian junior oil companies ; but there are always exceptions- and often very profitable ones, and furthermore Petroneft is one i have sized up on numerous occassions ,,,Reg-DPL ,,,,,l see on the back of todays upbeat RNS reg. oppo update on block 7 offshre Tanania coupled with news that j/v with M@P will be known in next few weeks , that not unsurprisingly DPL up at mid 4p within a few minutes of the mkt opening..........

TheFrenchConnection - 11 Nov 2010 16:29 - 113 of 141

DLP motoring today .Over 40 million volume and up a tad shy of 20% on the day- and judging by the size of many of the buy trades would suggest it is news driven as opposed to speculative posturing . ......Qui sait ?......Hopefully it is impending news on j/v with French midcap darling Maurel et Prom ............or news on Exxon farming into block 7 offshore Tanzania

gildph - 17 Nov 2010 13:16 - 114 of 141

Anyone holding these? Huge potential but obviously risky! Short/medium term expectations?

TheFrenchConnection - 25 Nov 2010 14:26 - 115 of 141

DPL creeping up to b/o of 5.06 to 5.15p on volume a tad shy of 30m with ratio of 4#1 in favour of buyers as opposed to those selling. ...news on j/v with M&P must be iminent

Update on Kianika-1
Presentations at Canaccord Genuity and RBS Investor Conferences

Dominion announces that it has been advised by Maurel & Prom, operator of the Mandawa PSA in Tanzania (Dominion 10% working interest) that the Kianika-1 well has reached the planned depth of 3,040 m. The targeted carbonates of Mid Jurassic Mtumbei formation were found with good reservoir characteristics, which confirmed the rationale for investigating this play.

No hydrocarbon shows being encountered (possibly due to lack of effective lateral seal), the well has been plugged and abandoned.

Under a farm-out agreement with Maurel et Prom, Dominion's funding requirement in respect of the Kianika-1 well on the Mandawa licence was reduced from 100% to 20% of the drilling costs and to 10% of associated expenses. Dominion retains a 10% interest in all profits earned from the Mandawa licence.

The Kianika-1 well is the second and last commitment well of the Initial Exploration Phase. Maurel & Prom is further evaluating the well results to determine the way forward with this block.

Dominion participated in the annual "RBS Equities Oil Services and E&P Seminar 2010" this week in London and also the "2010 Canaccord Genuity Global Energy Conference" in Miami. A copy of the conference presentation will be made available on the Company's website later today. The presentation updates the Company's most recent activities focused on offshore Tanzania Block 7 and the Albertine rift straddling the border between Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Bad luck anyone holding this.

My speculative money in small cap oilers is in AST and EOG, and glad that it is.

cynic - 04 Dec 2010 07:54 - 118 of 141

of course it is .... you only ever buy shares that will inevitably go up .... it doesn't look as though DPL had too much financial exposure here though

aldwickk - 04 Dec 2010 08:07 - 119 of 141

I banked some more profit yesterday @ 6.2 and will buy more if it fall's off a cliff Monday.

cynic - 04 Dec 2010 08:27 - 120 of 141

is that not "falling knife" syndrome? ...... i know of rather than about this company, so what is the great attraction for you?

============

4.50 or even 3.50 look distinct possibilities for monday

aldwickk - 04 Dec 2010 08:53 - 121 of 141

I done it last time when they had a worst RNS then this one and am now showing a profit of 89.2% , panic and stop loses kicking in may create an overreaction.

cynic - 04 Dec 2010 08:59 - 122 of 141

that's not good logic for buying! .... do you play roulette or the horses too?
