Football, What chances !, World Cup, Euro, Clubs, for all : home and away ! (FC)

required field - 14 Jul 2010 13:55

It is now time to switch to a new Money AM football blog as the world cup is now over and we all look to the future.....World cup 2010 is over, Bravo Espana, and Forlan, once again and bring on the new season !.....I never expected the last thread to be such a success...thanks all.... so this new one might go on for years without the need to edit the title...we shall see...

Chris Carson - 16 May 2012 18:13 - 1032 of 6918

RF - King Kenny my arse, (personally I was hoping they would keep him on) poor signings, finishing 8th behind Everton. How much did he pay for that donkey Carroll again? Backing that knobhead Suarez. And lets get it right 120 minutes of football and won the Carling Cup because a reletive of Geraldine missed a penalty, Liverpool style of old don't make me kin laugh!

required field - 16 May 2012 18:57 - 1033 of 6918

Touched a raw nerve it seems....I'm impressed with Carroll...he needs somebody to give him some ammunition but he looks good to me....I wish Rooney would somehow be a mixture of a forward and a midfielder for the England side because he's very good at assists.....his forced rest might just do him the world of good !...

Chris Carson - 16 May 2012 19:22 - 1034 of 6918

Well let's hope for Englands sake your right RF, I'm not holding my breath.

Joe Say - 17 May 2012 07:09 - 1035 of 6918

KK was brilliant for pool - lets hope they get the next best, AVB

required field - 19 May 2012 19:41 - 1036 of 6918

Good luck Chelsea.....you can do it !....will have to watch Bayern at the start.....wonderful occasion.....might go to extra time....two exMarseille players in opposite lineups !....

required field - 19 May 2012 22:34 - 1037 of 6918

Well done Chelsea !....at long last a London club has done it ...along with West Ham promoted...What a day...Bravo !....

Chris Carson - 19 May 2012 23:41 - 1038 of 6918

More jam than Hartleys Rf, but have to say if you beat Barcelona and Munich away doesn't matter how, you deserve it. Hard to feel sorry when a English club beats a German team on penalties, fabulous! :O)

skinny - 20 May 2012 07:51 - 1039 of 6918

Yes, well done the "British" team :-)

A mate had a double bet on Chelsea and West Ham - I'm not sure at what odds, but I think a Sunday lunchtime pint is a certainty.

required field - 20 May 2012 09:12 - 1040 of 6918

So did I....won on both.....only small amounts......shame for Spurs...hence the importance of awarding a fifth place or an extra place when this happens to a european country....Arsenal are probably now the biggest club in europe now never to have won this trophy.....anyway...at long last a London club wins it....rode their luck at times ...but it was destined to be Chelsea's year !...and beating a German side on penalties at home.....!...shades of Liverpool in Rome in 1984 !...

required field - 21 May 2012 08:34 - 1041 of 6918

The earthquake in Italy partly explains my halftime dream....shattered tower...

Joe Say - 22 May 2012 07:20 - 1042 of 6918

absolutely brilliant and if you're going to beat the home team in their city, then Munich is certainly the place to be - very sporting supporters who were literally everywhere in their hundreds of thousands - everyone was decked in red and yet all were up for conversation and a laugh with their rivals for the day

Wouldn't happen in many other cities, and amazing that we still have an anti-german default position in the uk

required field - 22 May 2012 10:36 - 1043 of 6918

To do with the second world war.....difficult to forget....but the German people are friendly.......they don't get so nasty like our lot when they lose.....anyway....just put a punt on England to win in Norway....not the force they were a decade or so ago...

required field - 22 May 2012 22:49 - 1044 of 6918

I'm not so sure about Didier Drogba leaving Chelsea......he will be sorely missed...what a star !.....the way he scores goals is how I like them....I root for Leeds Utd but his scoring reminds me of the good ol' days when Leeds scored some crackers (Joe Jordan).....couldn't have Chelsea sold him for 10 million quid or so....I would have kept him no matter what regardless of the champions league final......if Ivory Coast discover another ten players like him in respective positions then the rest of the world has no chance.....fabulous player and should be considered for the ballon d'or...might not win it but he should be in the running....

required field - 22 May 2012 23:12 - 1045 of 6918

Another thing that the Gunners might consider is a backbone of English players.......if they want to win the Champions League : they need at least three to four players that have at least British nationality.....look at ManU....Liverpool....and now Chelsea....they all qualify for these requirements......you need some Brit-Grit....(if I can call it that).....Arsenal have some excellent players but they are missing something......

Joe Say - 24 May 2012 07:13 - 1046 of 6918

DD has bowed out at the top - got to be a wise decision

He's hit 34, not played too well in the less glamorous fixtures, and his last kick in blue won the clubs 1st CL - has to be the perfect way to bow out

Well done Didier

Oakapples142 - 24 May 2012 08:50 - 1047 of 6918

Could not agree more - DD did have some poor displays during the season. Feel sure Torres will go from strength to strength next season if surrounded by more creative players and not the likes of Sturridge (often) and most certainly Kalou. Chelsea have some very good youngsters some out on loan who I hope will be given their chance. The backfour (if it stays on the pitch!) is second to none.

required field - 24 May 2012 18:36 - 1048 of 6918

DD has done well for the Chelsea.....wonderful result for English soccer....euro championships coming up next....England should get to the second round but Italy or Spain probably await.....that will be difficult.....still best to grab the first spot and meet the second best from the other group......no easy way to the final for any nation....let's get that first spot....then we shall see.....nobody is unbeatable now....not even Spain...and we might get the better of Italy for once......

required field - 26 May 2012 10:08 - 1049 of 6918

Neville involved with England..........long.....very..long silence....................hell...so we are going to train how to trip up people in the penalty area ?.......followed by hoof the ball upfield anyoldhow ?.......followed by general badly timed tackling all over the pitch....?.......and too slow most of the time .....sounds promising.....

Oakapples142 - 28 May 2012 09:11 - 1050 of 6918

The match against Norway was lack lustre and surely gave Roy H no clue to the future with half the squad unavailable. Gary Neville is however a breath of fresh air as a TV commentator - does not duck the issue rather like his tackling. Will he appear in two places at the same time when Sky have the coverage !!

required field - 28 May 2012 09:19 - 1051 of 6918

No sky so....?.....I would have Ashley Young and Carroll upfront with Rooney when he is allowed to play between a midfield three and the two forwards...that way he has a free role ......roaming from midfield to the attack.....a bit like Kevin Keegan had all those years ago....
