Son's just started uni this week. At his student accommodation, he has internet access but only through a wired connection. Problem is, he's only taken an iPAD with him as he couldn't lug his desktop machine all the way. What options does he have to get on to the network using the ipad? I understand there are various types of adapters. Would appreciate some pointers.
I find that movies play best on the TV if recorded as .avi files. I download movies on a PC and play them on the TV. I usually look for downloadable files that are in .avi format.
Thanks skinny. Not sure about the tethering bit...will explore that too. The adapter way seems best though. Looking at those now to see which one might be best for his situation. The management of the accommodation building do say that they will have wi-fi in place around October.
My son had the same problem at uni. I bought him a WiFi extender. You plug it into the Ethernet socket and it broadcasts its own WiFi signal. It was about £30 pounds. He has now am bed into a large house in his second year and is using it with a 20m cable to extend the WiFi to the upper floors.
My neighbour has an oldish laptop that his daughter gave him with XP on it and it's running very slower then usual, I said I would have a look and thought that clearing the cache would do the trick. Had a good look over the W/E and can't see where I can do this on "his Computer". I cleared his history which made it a little bit quicker and his trash.
When I'm at the library I just go to Tools I think from memory and tick a few boxes and bingo!
So my Q. is, is it because his Laptop OS is to old or what please?
