When you configure it, it doesn't need to be in its final location.

My son had the same problem at uni. I bought him a WiFi extender. You plug it into the Ethernet socket and it broadcasts its own WiFi signal. It was about £30 pounds. He has now am bed into a large house in his second year and is using it with a 20m cable to extend the WiFi to the upper floors.

Last night I went to see John Lloyd 'The Liff of QI' - an excellent evening.

My friend recorded (audio) a section and later forwarded it to me.

Problem - on my copy the audience is very audible, whereas the narrative (JL) isn't.

So any recommendations for audio enhancing/editing software to enhance the narrative?

My neighbour has an oldish laptop that his daughter gave him with XP on it and it's running very slower then usual, I said I would have a look and thought that clearing the cache would do the trick. Had a good look over the W/E and can't see where I can do this on "his Computer". I cleared his history which made it a little bit quicker and his trash.

When I'm at the library I just go to Tools I think from memory and tick a few boxes and bingo!

So my Q. is, is it because his Laptop OS is to old or what please?

Stan, also check for viruses and malware. I've helped my neighbours a good few times and found tons of malware on their machines. Apart from the usual damage malware causes, slowness is one of the other things you will notice. Haystack's suggestion of CCleaner is excellent. For malware removal, I've found the freebie version of Malwarebytes to be very useful.

Thanks you 3, I have cleaned the cache and am going to return the laptop to see if it is better under his conditions. One step at a time.

'Speccy' is a nice little programme too.

What anti virus or firewall is being used? Macafee and Morton often slow down your machine by huge amounts. I use Comodo firewall an MS Security Essentials.

Was it Avanti or Avast (I saw an icon on the desktop), I can't remember but think it started with an "A". I have returned it and he is going to give it a try for a while and let me know.

The M/C has been handed around his extended family and he is last in the line, so probably a lack of maintenance.. We shall see as I say one step at a time.
