Post nicked from Evil.......
It strikes me that sooner or later some Chinese bloke holding a large stake in a dodgy Chinese AIM float will do his conkers on the Chinese market and will become a forced seller. At that stage the Chinese AIM stocks will all slide as investors realise that illiquid stocks with no asset backing can fall even faster when sentiment sours than they rise when the bulls are in charge. I retain my Chinese AIM shorts, especially Renesola (SOLA) which is gagging for a bashing.

Yeah he's been shorting since about 180p if I remember right , if he says it often enough I'm sure he'll get it right one day.

chart below shows good break through 25+50 dma, which now looks to be providing at least reasonable support ..... pretty self-explanatory.
no apparent news nor even announcement re next figures ..... as volumes are not huge, may be a clasic bear squeeze

Not sure I agree Cynic, it's broken the downtrend established from the 640 high and is in effect a chart breakout from a symmetrical triangle. Could retrace a little but that downtrend line is now immediate support, depends how it closes today.

you and i actually agree in principle ..... i was only questioning the reason behind the recent rise .... certainly would not now be shorting! .... which is NOT the same as saying i shall rush out to buy either!

Ill be very interested to see what that cash flow position is like.
They can announce as much volume uptake as they want but if theres cash outflowing at the rate its been going in the past this ones a big sell.

Sales hardly moved on previous quarter, gross margin down again (albeit not by much), stocks up another $15M, cash still flowing out fast before bond proceeds/new bank loan. Prospects remain exciting if you believe the hype, but think I will stay with the easier ones to understand for the time being.

Results far worse than I thought.
I see the spin doctors over on the other board are trying to mask the companys underlying problems, mainly Sola doesnt generate cash.
The rise this morning is everything down to production capacity estimates increased but if you delve deeper you will see that margins are being erroded quarter on quarter by a combination of increased raw materials costs, increased bank borrowing charges and production inefficiencies. Inventory levels also increasing which is a worrying sign.
Cash outflow on operating activities was $8,540 million and the company accounts show a profit of just around 3 million.
The bulls on this stock can puff and puff but the accounts show the company as minimal assets, is cashflow negative, as increasing bank charges to pay and margins dropping, and quite frankly it looks like the management are not able to control the companys growth.
Its way way overvalued.

Frankly wouldnt have touched this one with a barge pole.
Can anyone give a valid case as to why its trading at such a massive market premium to its assets?. AND WHY CANT IT GENERATE CASH????????????.
Its ok reporting a paper profit, but the case is that its not banking any cash profit.
Its wide open for bears to take it to the cleaners.

wall street tumbling yet again which, unless there is a late recovery, must surely reflect in london tomorrow ..... having glanced at today's posts here, the figures sound far from brilliant, so i would be quite surprised if, one way or another, SOLA does not take a bashing .... we shall see
