Dowgate Capital - Capitalising on the booming AIM market (DGT)

overgrowth - 09 Feb 2005 20:52

Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting in the middle of a goldmine!

This company through their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year. Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund placements on behalf of the companies they represent.

On first sight, the fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think again!

DGT bring new companies to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated" on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring income).

Because DGT also act as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work, they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash to speed growth.

Current NOMADships: 28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000 per year)

Current on-going Brokerage agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)

For flotations, depending on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000 to 100,000+ For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12% of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000 ! These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket. Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for years, with DGT having to do very little. New clients gained in 2005 are:

Mediazest (NOMAD & broker) Elite Strategies (NOMAD) Process Handling (NOMAD) Poland Investment Fund (NOMAD) Nanotech Energy (NOMAD & broker) Archimedia Ventures (NOMAD & broker) Red Leopard Holdings (NOMAD) Alba Mineral Resources (NOMAD & broker) Intandem Films (NOMAD & broker) Motive Television (NOMAD) IncaGold (NOMAD) Sportswinbet (NOMAD & Broker) Infoscreen Networks (NOMAD & Broker) Mark Kingsley (NOMAD & Broker) Croatia Ventures (NOMAD & Broker) Pantheon Leisure (NOMAD) Firenze Ventures (Ofex Advisor) FlightStore Group (NOMAD & Broker) Euro Capital Projects (NOMAD) Pearl Street Holdings (NOMAD) Worldwide Natural Resources (Ofex Advisor) Dovedale Ventures (Ofex Advisor) Other 2005 work completed:Neptune-Calculus VCT offer for subs of up to 12 million Advisory work for TGM on London Bus disposal for 20.4M Advisory work for Creightons on property disposal Advisory work for Hampton Trust on company restructuring Advisory work for Interbulk Investments on acquisition of Inbulk Advisory work for Fundamental-e Investments on two disposals Advisory work for Designer Vision re: Design Rights against Centurion Electronics

Interesting times these. A much larger gain today than I was expecting but probably indicative of the MMs' stock situation. That final 1.8m is a little myseterious in so far as the trade was timed at 15.28 when the spread was .70 / .72 and in the midst of a steep rise. Was it really a sell?

Pth, have been very busy but hope to join you next yr. Starting to get into gear now cant wait for the results.

any views on potential of more companies being floated on the back of the Olympics decision. I believe we will see a lot more activity at the back end of this year because of it. goodey, goodey!!

Fraid Fred gave up the ghost with some bitterness and left for other pastures, despite being advised to jump back in around about the 0.40p level.

In the great scheme of things, I guess it doesn't really matter. The timing and price would indicate a sell, but only the MMs and buyer / seller will ever know.
I expect to see some large sells popping up in the weeks ahead. There are quite a few investors who have been in this stock for a considerable period of time and have been able to purchase substantial holdings (1m +) at anything from 0.25p upwards. It is only natural that they will have profit targets and wish to realise some profits.

Snakey

Interesting thought, however, my main objective now is to root out those companies who will benefit from the build up to and the Olympics themslves.

pth - try ATK, CLLN and BBY as a starter for 10.

pth - indeed, I've been holding for>18 months (at a low average due to some trading at the peak last year) and intend to do so for at least the same again but morbid fascination keeps on attracting me to the day-to-day events (and to the boards over at the aptly named Fraggle Rock!).

thanks OG

Good day today, well, actually the last few days have been very good. I think my original target of 1.0p has now gone by the by. We haven't even started the run up to the Interims yet, that activity will get going about two weeks before. Best not say what I think the SP will rise to on publication of the results, will be probably accused of ramping.

pth

PS OG haven't started work on that thread for which you sent the HTML code, but will give it a go soon.

og

Well found. Wonder why there isn't a 'N' against DGT on Stockwatch?

Am not at all surprised, I have suspected all week that they were coming from somewhere. Wonder how many they have sold? Sometimes these RNSs state that the investing company have disposed of all their shares and no longer have an interest full stop. Actually, I don't even know how many they had in the first place, any idea OG, et al?

Pretty stupid time to sell really, should have waited until August when they would probably have received significantly more.

overgrowth - 06 Jul 2005 18:13 - 1054 of 2787

pth - they bought 41,227,500 just after Griffin sold out at a loss in Jan.

I think they've been offloading them in dribs and drabs for some time and that's what's been holding the price back up to now.

It may have been a temporary arrangement sorted by TR to ensure that price was kept stable whilst he was taking the reins and moving the company forward.

It's all in the price now as they say and the MMs must really be short of stock now lol !

I use the free e-mail news alert service from:http://www.companyannouncements.net/cgi-bin/newsalert

Funny you should mention html earlier - I was wondering what had happened to that "project" this morning, whilst scrolling idly through the board messages.

arawli - 06 Jul 2005 20:19 - 1055 of 2787

Evening All

I think that the T Trades that have been going through must have been GWH selling because they were quite generous buy prices as we had discussed before. If they have now sold then this shows that we have not had many sells from RI and with the MMs supply exhausted this could see a very big rise if the buying continues.

I think the long termers own quite a large % of the company between us now and if like me we have a 3-5 year timescale this could be very exciting times ahead.

All the best

Andy

there it is chaps now we know where the mms were getting all their stock from and why the SP has been held back.

Incidenentally a good post by Carchase on III site tonight it looks like he called the 0.75p mid closing SP spot on today as he normally did when he used to post on the other BB.

Lets hope we can sustain an upward movement tomorrow, it looks like we can if as we suspect the mms are short of stock and we get the buyers still coming in.

Its good to be able to read a senisble thread, i have held these for over 18 months
adding now and then to build a sizeable holding.

I must admit i do post mostly on the other bb there are some good posters over there and we have posted together for over a year but also agree there is a lot of rubbish over there, but i do read this bb every day and i like the new layout of the board.
