Depends on your age DB4. If you're over 40, you may just need ordinary specs.

One of the most common problems people have with prolonged VDU use is dry eye - blink rates drop massively when you're looking at a screen, so the most important thing is to blink your eyes very often, and get into the habit. That should sort most problems out. With LCD / LED screens there really isn't a radiation issue any more.

Have tried to load "word" into the new machine, but no luck.

It starts up and make encouraging noises, product key etc, and then stops.


I have no idea whats wrong, is my 10+ year old "word" wp program no good for W8?

What is an " undf" file?

It depends on the context. Frequently is is a file type that windows has no application to process it. In other words no association. An example might be a video or audio file that windows cannot play. The dot extension may be one that you have no software to process. Have a look at the extension and do a search on Google for some software or post the extension here.

My printers packed up (end of life) So I now want to switch from Ink Jet to Laser. It's not all about costs for me so my research tells me that Kyocera are worth the trouble in terms of reliability and maintenance options. I did have a Kyocera laser printer for my business and it was very reliable even though it had very heavy use.

Upgraded to 8.1, but it doesent seem to make a lot of difference, it's still useless.

have been nosing around ebay for a W7 disc, and can buy one brand new for £40 ish.

No, or if it has, I don't know where to find it.

It was a cheap laptop (£250) so probably doesent have the premium package.

Max - you can boot straight to the desktop in windows 8.1.

skinny, yes got that, but it's still a pile of crap.

Anything that will improve it's hands on working would be better.

As lots of peeps have said, and I agree, it's tablet software and not really suited to a laptop.

Downloaded that stardock fix, works a treat so far, much better.

Just over £3 all in.

Microsoft warns users of hacker attacks

Microsoft has warned that hackers could exploit a "vulnerability" in its operating system to gain user rights to the affected computers.

It said attackers could exploit this by requesting users to preview or open a specially crafted email or web content.

Microsoft said it was "aware of targeted attacks" and was investigating.

The issue affects Microsoft Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Office 2003 - 2010, and Microsoft Lync.

The current versions of Microsoft Windows and Office are not affected by the issue - which centres on a graphics component.
