GOLD OIL PLC (GOO)

driver - 23 Feb 2006 15:42

GOLD OIL, the London-based oil exploration company focused on the South American and Caribbean region, announces that in late December 2005, the Company received an Operator Certificate from PeruPetro that allows the Company to carry out seismic, drilling and development operations in Northwest Peru.
The Promotion Licence signed with PeruPetro on October 15, 2004 with PeruPetro for Block XI (now renamed Block XXI) onshore Sechura Basin has been converted to an Exploration and Production Licence. The Licence now goes to the Ministry of Energy and Mines for approval, which could be forthcoming anytime between February and May of this year 2006.
The terms of the E&P Licence commit the Company to either shoot 120 km of 2D seismic or drill a well in the first period of five over a seven year term. The remaining four periods require the Company to either drill a well or drop the acreage. The Licence is for a term of 30 years for oil and 40 years for gas, with a minimum royalty of 5% on wellhead production for the first 5000bopd (30 MMscfd for gas) rising to 20% if and when production reaches 100,000 bopd (600 MMscfd for gas).

Times Article:
Gold Oil is valued in the market at about 15m. That is so small that almost any good news must have a big impact on the share price.
What are the chances of that happening? Run by a former Burmah Oil director, Mike Burchell, Gold Oil will drill the first in a series of wells in the Sechura Basin in April. There will be surprise if it does not find gas, as another company, Olympic, has done just that in a similar formation nearby.
The secondary target, later in the year, will be oil, I gather. A couple of months ago, Petro Tech made a big oil find offshore in the Sechura Basin. The theory is the oil may have migrated up into Gold Oils block. Dont ask me to explain the geology because I dont speak Palaeozoic. But a decent oil find here would be a company-maker.
Gold Oil has enough cash to fund this years drilling programme. And it already has a deal in place to sell its gas to Mann Ferrostaal, a German company that is building an ammonia plant nearby. Getting all that for 15m seemed a bargain to me. But Gold Oil still has to find its gas.

I have no technical knowledge but sounds great!
Both Oil and Gas together have been suggested.

Markus

Rather than getting too excited about my posts, I do try to keep them balanced, both upside and downside. Now things have settled down a bit, I do believe that the RNS is more good than bad, significantly more, but I do not have the technical expertise to back that up. I suggest this may be something of a DCB because a lot of people may not be aware of the RNS just yet. There is always a possibilty that when they do, the SP could be driven down once more. However, I don't think that will happen, certainly not as far as 9p, most of the bigger players will have done their stuff this morning and of course the bounce has probably something to do with shorts being closed out. Always difficult to guage market sentiment, personally I wouldn't like to chose an entry level at the moment.

Markus , are you in yet ? under 10 is a good buy .

lizard - 04 Sep 2006 14:47 - 1041 of 4580

i think the mkt was expecting more confirmation about outcome today. as we know these things take time.

canary9 - 04 Sep 2006 16:22 - 1042 of 4580

Wow! had to go shopping and missed all the action. Will wait to see if share price drifts lower over the coming days/weeks to see if it's worth building my stake back up.

ptholden - 04 Sep 2006 16:37 - 1043 of 4580

Should be some chunky late trades today, purely of interest though, cos with the exception of the MMs and investors/traders no-one will have a scooby as to buys or sells :-)

HARRYCAT - 04 Sep 2006 16:43 - 1044 of 4580

I have sold today & locked in 20% profit.
Why is the general consensus opinion that the price will dip again to 9p?
Of course, if it does I will be back in again!
Surely those that saw the news this morning have already done the deed, those that didn't have missed the boat. Most short positions will have been realised. Possibly a few late comers tonight who have to think what to do tomorrow, but not enough to drop the SP by 20%???
Wishfull thinking by some or accurate chart analysis?

markusantonius - 04 Sep 2006 16:50 - 1045 of 4580

No, not in yet, Fliper. But still keeping a close eye on what happens during the rest of the week........

Yes, under 10p would be a safe enough buy, I agree. But will it break below 10p again, that is the question?

ptholden - 04 Sep 2006 17:02 - 1046 of 4580

Harry

TA has gone out of the window mostly with today's news. There is chart support at 10p which will be the first safety net. So there may be a buying opportunity round about that sort of level dependant on sentiment. I would expect the next few days to see all the 'experts' chucking in their opinion as to the exact translation of today's RNS. Hopefully amongst all the dross there will be a real expert. There will also be a number of shorters attempting to drive the SP down curiously aligned with a number of others wanting to drive the SP down, but so that they can buy at a cheaper level. I would imagine an awful lot of the T+ brigade closed today and I doubt they will re-enter the fray until a new time scale of testing is determined. So all in all, a number of issues to affect the SP and I for one, don't have a clue as to which way it will go in the short term; long term I am happy to sit on my increased holding (thanks to today's volatility) and wait for all the other news.

PTH
Well done on your trading today like I said I now have a few more shares like yourself, I have just got back in and the sp is better than when I went out lets see what tomorrow brings.

ptholden - 04 Sep 2006 17:59 - 1048 of 4580

Thanks Driver, well done to you also.
I'm gonna be away for quite a while now so it can do what it wants over the next 3 months or so. I shall have a peek now and again, but that's all.
Good luck one and all.

cynic - 04 Sep 2006 19:33 - 1050 of 4580

where are you off to PT?

HARRYCAT - 04 Sep 2006 21:02 - 1051 of 4580

Hopefully he is off to Peru to check out our investment!!!
How was Perigord Monsieur cynic?

lizard - 04 Sep 2006 21:38 - 1052 of 4580

NBM this week!.

georgetrio - 04 Sep 2006 21:53 - 1053 of 4580

This is early stage, and patience will reward. More coming up, there is Nancy, there is Z34 and more wells will be drilled. As always i take 20% profit and hold the rest. If the sp heads back to 8p, that will be a buying opportunity.

PapalPower - 05 Sep 2006 01:54 - 1054 of 4580

Wishing you well, but to me it all sounds like TAG's 3X drill, water in the well, drilling issues, swabbing to induce oil and we know where that went.............I think most would say the risk level is now very high, which is why you saw so many sell.

Its not all over, there is still some chance of success here, but the risk factor has just shot upwards.

lizard - 05 Sep 2006 08:36 - 1055 of 4580

it certainly is not all over. xxi still possible and a producer in colombia by week end.

driver - 05 Sep 2006 08:44 - 1056 of 4580

lizard
It's never over till the fat lady sings.

1.update on block XXI Peru outcome of drilling.
2. Work over work Nancy Colombia complete- looking at production and flow rates.
3. Approval from Perupetro on Z34 offshore Peru- then off to Ministry for completion of contract.

janetbennison - 05 Sep 2006 08:51 - 1057 of 4580

lizard, I panicked yesterday and sold my entire holdings at 8.5 pence. From the time of phoning the stockbrokers to sell they were 11.5 and in approx 4 minutes they were down to 8.5p and I think there are a lot of people out there very disappointed in the news. There are a lot of sell offs today because of this. If they fall back down near to the level I sold at, I will probably buy back my shares but not so many. I believe these are risky at the moment because of lack of good news. Lets wait and see what the next few days bring. I dropped 15K yesterday including profits. my mistake was not selling in the morning at 14.5p when |I could have done, and then buying them back when they fell. nevermind.
