Hudson launching fantasy MMORPG
The Japanese publisher gives its online game a new anime-style look for its pan-Asian debut. The beta begins October 28.
TOKYO--Japanese game publisher Hudson, in collaboration with broadband provider BB Serve, announced today that its massively multiplayer online role-playing game for the PC, Master of Epic: The Resonance Age Universe, will begin beta testing this month. Hudson is developing the fantasy-style game, while BB Serve, a subsidiary of major IT company Softbank, is putting up part of the game-development budget and is also providing the game's network infrastructure and distribution route.
Master of Epic has been in development at Hudson for the past three years, and was beta-tested from March to December of last year. At the time, Master of Epic was called Resonance Age: Lost Overlord, and it featured medieval worlds drawn with realistic Western-style graphics. But along with the change in title, the game now features an anime-style look.
One reason for the change is that Hudson is targeting the game at an Asian audience. The company is already localizing the game for China, where it is slated to launch next summer. Hudson revealed today that it has received offers from companies interested in launching the game in Korea and Taiwan.
For the time being, the Japanese beta test of Master of Epic will begin on October 28. Any user can participate by creating an account with BB Serve's online gaming portal, BBGames. But once the game is officially released, only members of Softbank's ISP, Yahoo BB, will be able to create accounts. (All beta testers will be able to play the final game, regardless of ISP.)

......NCsoft announced the launch of its new European subsidiary in July. It has already successfully established itself in Korea, North America, Japan, Taiwan, China and Thailand. The launch of its European company takes NCsoft one step closer to constructing a global network for online game services.
NCsoft is planning to launch Lineage II in Europe by the end of 2004, with City of Heroes and Guild Wars set to follow in 2005. After that, the company will continue to service new games with the objective of establishing itself as a leading online game company in the European region by the end of 2005.
The capacity of the online game market in Europe is expected to reach about $3 billion US this year, and in 2005 it is expected to exceed $5 billion US.

I see from our website that we are currently
advertising for 8 vacancy applications plus anymore at
Stream Theory. The link page for ST is not working at present.
We must be gearing up for something big, I think.

I don't think we have many traders in tad at the moment.
Spread is wide and not much share price movement. One thing that is happening is all the sellers' shares are being hoovered up by a large buyer imo.

Ask Keith Bigsby
28.10.04
Last week Tadpole Technology bought Slipstream Theory Inc.
Tadpole says it's another step towards establishing an industry standard for software distribution, a vision it hopes will one day catapult its stock into the big time.
Certainly there is a buzz about Tadpole. More Interactive Investor sharedealing customers hold Tadpole shares than Rolls Royce, Unilever or HSBC, and in the past year it was the second most popular stock of 2,021 discussed on Interactive's bulletin boards.
This Friday, 29 November, Richard Beddard talks to Keith Bigsby, chief executive of Tadpole's streaming division and group financial director, to find out what's behind the buzz. If you were in Richard's shoes, what would you ask?
Send your comments and questions to the Editor, and we will publish Richard's interview on Monday 1 November.

That's why I thought it must be frustrating for them. I'm gradually feeling a bit more positive on them, but I haven't seen anything to tempt my money out of my pocket.

Tadpole
I hear on the grapevine that software group Tadpole is about to launch a 'news blitz' in the next few weeks. We shall see.
I think he means the 'next few days'
Patrick Lay's column in today's Standard.
