Another possibility is that the target mailbox is full.

Thanks H/S, I will suggest that to him.

I've just bought two new monitors for my setup, each has a res of 1920 x 1080, but my current dual head graphics card doesn't support that. I suspect I may need two cards. Does anyone have any suggestions about a suitable card, because I'm struggling.

I don't want one with a large power demand as my PSU is fairly low power.

hangon - 06 Dec 2013 13:18 - 10427 of 11003

FWIW, I thought most dedicated graphics cards costing £50+ would support two monitors - time to go to yr PC dealer and see what's available. As graphics cards can consume a fair bit of power, it might be time to upgrade the PSU - at least then that can't become an issue and with luck the new unit will be quieter and give yr PC a new lease of life . . . Modest PSUs should be under £50 - but Dealers may be a tad more. However, they may be prepared to fit it - with all those wires, I'd say "Yes-please".

+I have a 500Mb separate graphics card with 3 outputs...and can use two at the same time - HDMI, DVI, VGA ( the last is a rather poor Analogue signal). The HDMI allows me to use the TV which is sharper than my LCD Monitor....but it's less convenient although the plus is that I can use the HiFi. Modern cards are typically 2G, but a larger Memory indicates greater processing power (so more heat/noise), whereas mine is fanless.
-BTW I never did get on with two monitors - having half the program "somewhere else" was not what I expected. I thought it would take all the workings onto the other screen, leaving me with the bigger picture for Graphics/editing - but it never did. I'm writing this using the old LCD monitor.(saves power!)

Thanks Hangon, I think a trip to my local dealer is in order then. I was thinking about that although I like to do this sort of stuff myself usually. But these PSUs have a lot of wires as you say!

500Mb card? That's a monster!

Haystack - 08 Dec 2013 14:53 - 10429 of 11003

500Mb is small these days

My kids have a 2Gb card which is just medium quality

Try this

Yes, I've just realised what a stupid comment that was :-)

That's a nice looking card, not sure my PC is up to it!!! At £2799 it's got to be a steal.

We saleays buy graphics cards from CEX. They do second hand stuff guaranteed 3 months.

We have bought monitors, PCs and graphics cards. They have all been excellent and very cheap.

Blackberry has a facilty that allow many Emails to be sent realtime to your phone, trouble is i dont have one of those phones but is a app available for Android phones so that you can use the same facilty or a similar type of thing ???

Seymour Clearly - 12 Dec 2013 09:04 - 10433 of 11003

Not sure about that, but Blackberry do a BBM messenger as a free download now.

skinny - 12 Dec 2013 09:19 - 10434 of 11003

I know nothing about Blackberry, but can't you achieve what you want via the 'sync frequency' settings on Android - albeit at the expense of battery life?

Mega Bucks - 12 Dec 2013 09:40 - 10435 of 11003

Require some help please regarding my ASUS android tablet,it has wifi but also has the 3G facilty,i fully understand all the main functions but one thing i am not sure about is when not using the tablet how does one put it in a state so that no screen or the tablet is on but so that the 3G side of it works in the back ground.

So currently when i turn it off the whole tablet shuts down including the 3G side of it as well,so how would i keep the tablet still able to accept call etc ??? cannot seem to find a standby facilty or would i use Airplane mode with the screen going on standby after a certain time duration.

It has a 751hors stanby 3G mode in the spec but i cannot work out how to activate it or what settings to alter, any Android tablet owners can help me on this one please.

Many thanks

got a problem on stockwatch, when I click on the trades or chart I get a click and an orange emblem with red mark inside pops up and nothing happens. This has only just started to happen, have tried disabling pop up blocker etc but to no avail. This is on my laptop running windows 8, my tower PC is OK
Help please?

edit..now sorted, Bar came up at the bottom of the page saying to enable pop ups on money AM did that and OK now, But why the problem before as I had never disabled them, I am inclined to got back to Windows 7 after this warranty runs out, Windows 8 has been nothing but a problem for me!

samsun - 16 Dec 2013 11:00 - 10437 of 11003

I am not happy myself with Windows 8, but how do you go back to Window 7?

optomistic - 16 Dec 2013 17:11 - 10438 of 11003

samsun, I am not sure how to completely get rid of Windows 8 but I have a techy friend who does things like that for me if necessary. I have seen him do similar for other people and he always makes discs of all data on the hard drive first otherwise it could just disappear into the ether :-/ All installed programes can go as well so I suggest do try to find a friend like I have.
ps he would have sorted out my problem but I was trying to be a little independant. LOL

skinny - 16 Dec 2013 17:13 - 10439 of 11003

I've been thinking about getting myself a kindle for reading books.

Does anyone have experience of using one or maybe one of the entry level tablets that can double as an E-reader - Hudl etc?

HARRYCAT - 17 Dec 2013 07:53 - 10442 of 11003

Isn't that the kind of thing your kids / grand kids should be giving you for Christmas?!!! Better than slippers or underwear any day!!!

skinny - 17 Dec 2013 07:57 - 10443 of 11003

Yes, but probably a bit late for this year!
