Football, What chances !, World Cup, Euro, Clubs, for all : home and away ! (FC)

required field - 14 Jul 2010 13:55

It is now time to switch to a new Money AM football blog as the world cup is now over and we all look to the future.....World cup 2010 is over, Bravo Espana, and Forlan, once again and bring on the new season !.....I never expected the last thread to be such a success...thanks all.... so this new one might go on for years without the need to edit the title...we shall see...

I'm not so sure about Didier Drogba leaving Chelsea......he will be sorely missed...what a star !.....the way he scores goals is how I like them....I root for Leeds Utd but his scoring reminds me of the good ol' days when Leeds scored some crackers (Joe Jordan).....couldn't have Chelsea sold him for 10 million quid or so....I would have kept him no matter what regardless of the champions league final......if Ivory Coast discover another ten players like him in respective positions then the rest of the world has no chance.....fabulous player and should be considered for the ballon d'or...might not win it but he should be in the running....

Another thing that the Gunners might consider is a backbone of English players.......if they want to win the Champions League : they need at least three to four players that have at least British nationality.....look at ManU....Liverpool....and now Chelsea....they all qualify for these requirements......you need some Brit-Grit....(if I can call it that).....Arsenal have some excellent players but they are missing something......

DD has bowed out at the top - got to be a wise decision

He's hit 34, not played too well in the less glamorous fixtures, and his last kick in blue won the clubs 1st CL - has to be the perfect way to bow out

Well done Didier

Could not agree more - DD did have some poor displays during the season. Feel sure Torres will go from strength to strength next season if surrounded by more creative players and not the likes of Sturridge (often) and most certainly Kalou. Chelsea have some very good youngsters some out on loan who I hope will be given their chance. The backfour (if it stays on the pitch!) is second to none.

DD has done well for the Chelsea.....wonderful result for English soccer....euro championships coming up next....England should get to the second round but Italy or Spain probably await.....that will be difficult.....still best to grab the first spot and meet the second best from the other group......no easy way to the final for any nation....let's get that first spot....then we shall see.....nobody is unbeatable now....not even Spain...and we might get the better of Italy for once......

required field - 26 May 2012 10:08 - 1049 of 6918

Neville involved with England..........long.....very..long silence....................hell...so we are going to train how to trip up people in the penalty area ?.......followed by hoof the ball upfield anyoldhow ?.......followed by general badly timed tackling all over the pitch....?.......and too slow most of the time .....sounds promising.....

Oakapples142 - 28 May 2012 09:11 - 1050 of 6918

The match against Norway was lack lustre and surely gave Roy H no clue to the future with half the squad unavailable. Gary Neville is however a breath of fresh air as a TV commentator - does not duck the issue rather like his tackling. Will he appear in two places at the same time when Sky have the coverage !!

required field - 28 May 2012 09:19 - 1051 of 6918

No sky so....?.....I would have Ashley Young and Carroll upfront with Rooney when he is allowed to play between a midfield three and the two forwards...that way he has a free role ......roaming from midfield to the attack.....a bit like Kevin Keegan had all those years ago....

required field - 02 Jun 2012 13:24 - 1052 of 6918

Lampard out as well.....now Rooney might have to be more in the midfield....

required field - 03 Jun 2012 10:43 - 1053 of 6918

Another win......can't say they played well...but they are now in a winning mood...and that matters.....England might just beat France in the first game this time if they play to their full potential even without Rooney for this game....the thing is to improve with every game.....and they might just do that....

required field - 03 Jun 2012 21:18 - 1054 of 6918

I think England can win this group.....this time we are underdogs which is just great;....no shouts from anybody .......just perfect......but we are seriously dangerous in attack...with a solid defense it seems......I hope Steven Gerrard goes out there with a midfield with a fearsome attitude to win.
We might and that's and if : bump into Ireland or Croatia in the second round....strong possibility of Spain winning their group if they beat Italy in their first game.....with them being defeated 3-0 at home by Russia ...it's possible...Italian football in crisis at the moment with scandals and such...(never underestimate their powers of recovery though)....remember world cup 1982 when they were crap in the opening exchanges only to lift the trophy a few weeks later...so I'll stick my neck out and tip England for a semifinal place this year...perhaps more....they could just click.....the Chelsea success continuing perhaps ?....I wouldn't go as far as that at this present moment but there are always surprises at these european finals.
Mexico 2-0 up against Brazil (game not finished yet).....now there's a side I would love to see lift the world cup one day......they are so difficult to play against in my opinion ....

Dil - 05 Jun 2012 03:27 - 1055 of 6918

I hope England get stuffed , Terry has a nightmare and Rio captians Team GB to gold (Bellamy gets the winner).

required field - 05 Jun 2012 09:39 - 1056 of 6918

Come..come Dilboy.....deep down I'm sure you're an England fan at heart !.....you'll be cheering the lads on as well...(:))).....

Dil - 05 Jun 2012 11:39 - 1057 of 6918

I support France :-)

required field - 06 Jun 2012 17:58 - 1058 of 6918

I see that Alan Shearer is the only one that is tipping England to reach the semis.....I really think that it's a possibility......I think that they can "click" and win that first game.....good defending and sharp counterattacking might be the answer and keeping the yellow card count low at the same time......Spain look the strongest but there are always surprises at the Euros.....Spain was a surprise four years ago....Greece even more so before that....Denmark in 1992.....the Germans will be strong as well as the Dutch.....for England : a lot depends on that Spain-Italy game in the other group and of course this match against France.....it just might be our turn to win.....they are hardly the same side they were with Zidane and Henry and others now.....and I reckon that we have quite a few good goalscorers in our ranks !....at a guess we can grab at least 2 goals....perhaps 3.....

chuckles - 06 Jun 2012 20:53 - 1059 of 6918

Wishful thinking required field.

England are fielding their weakest team since who knows when. The failed golden generation has mostly come and gone and by Gerrard's own admission, there were not at all golden. So, England like the rest will always have a chance to make the semi, but in comparison to Spain, Germany, Holland, they're not in the same league.

Stan - 06 Jun 2012 22:12 - 1060 of 6918

Oh come on RF.. your be telling us next you've got money on them

Dil - 07 Jun 2012 02:01 - 1061 of 6918

stick to your guns rf ... they laffed at me when I said Wales would win the rugby Grand Slam last year and in 2008 and in 2005 but I was right !!

Got it wrong every other year since this BB started though but I tend to forget them :)

Dil - 07 Jun 2012 02:02 - 1062 of 6918

Anyway , more importantly Cardiff (blooooooobirds) now play in fecking red !!!!!

required field - 07 Jun 2012 15:48 - 1063 of 6918
