.....looks like I won't be at tomorrows IC Roadshow ..... did try to register last week(and follow it up this week) ..... but no sensible responce from them ..... so presume:
a) Roadshow is already full, or
b) I'm on some 'blacklist' they've got, or
c) The registration administrators are incompetent....

.... enjoy your Roadshow.....

Stan - 03 Jul 2008 10:12 - 1055 of 1427

Sorry to here that Chris, do you want me to make inquiries when I get there, I could give you a ring on the day if a vacancy was on? can't believe that they are fully booked.

Ed: Anybody else coming or is it just me?

survived87 - 03 Jul 2008 10:29 - 1056 of 1427

thanks ..... but I've lost interest now ..... they did seem just 'useless' to say the least or perhaps they've 'downsized staffing'..... when phoned they couldn't give any explanation as they said they'd have to walk over to another office to check why I wasn't getting a confirmation from them .... e-mail I sent to them this morning got the auto-responce that they'd reply within three days .....

Stan - 03 Jul 2008 10:40 - 1057 of 1427

Fair enough, IC owned by FT who in turn are owned by Pearson Group I think...sounds like typical "couldn't care less" big business.

survived87 - 03 Jul 2008 10:55 - 1058 of 1427

yeep, with staff ensuring they don't deviate from their job descriptions .....

Fred1new - 03 Jul 2008 11:23 - 1059 of 1427

Survivor, You can use my place as I won't be able to attend.

Email me and I wil send you my details

survived87 - 03 Jul 2008 12:06 - 1060 of 1427

Fred .... thanks for the offer ...... but I have lost interest in going after 'knocking my head against the wall' several times trying to get a confirmation from them .....
did rearrange my work tomorrow so had afternoon free as had two simultaneous events that I wanted to go to ..... so have now opted for the other (family orientated one)....

How's the formatting on the e-mail you received? Someone else I know that did get a confirmation said it was naff formating and they had to spend some time reformatting it in order to print it out on one page.

Fred1new - 03 Jul 2008 14:21 - 1061 of 1427

Formatting no problem, but I accept all formats as I have double viral checker etc.

survived87 - 03 Jul 2008 23:49 - 1062 of 1427

Well, about 21 hours before the event then I finally got a responce saying that if I registerred again they'd ensure that they'd get an invitation to me. Seems it's being organised by a marketing services company that has "one primary goal - to help our customers sell more magazines more profitably." Not my words but theirs:

Looks like just me then attending today, in that case I might go straight there depends what time I have before hand...if you are going please post here.

survived87 - 04 Jul 2008 13:15 - 1064 of 1427

Stan ..... Hope you have a good Roadshow. Hopefully IC will get their act together on the day and it'll be a good event to attend ..... plus you'll get a special offer to subscribe to IC.......

Stan - 05 Jul 2008 19:09 - 1065 of 1427

Well not a bad afternoon at the IC event, as usual heard a lot of stuff before but always worth going to I think.

Must have been close to a 100 there but think that anyone who had just turned up would have got in as the registration was to simply give one's name.

Train firm to start airport link

A new rail link is to provide passengers in mid Wales with a direct link to Birmingham airport later this year.
Arriva Trains Wales' service every two hours from Aberystwyth finishes at the city's New Street station at present.
But from December the company will extend the link so it stops at Birmingham International.
Trains in mid Wales use the Cambrian line, which links the region with stations across England.

Arriva Trains added that a similar service to Birmingham airport would commence from Chester from December.

"Arriva Trains Wales' service every two hours from Aberystwyth finishes at the city's New Street station at present."

..well it does if it's running to time otherwise they stop it at Wolverhampton and send it back, passengers needing to get the London connection (at New St.) of about 12 minutes start to panic -):

"The timetable is being designed with extra performance contingency, which should improve punctuality and prevent the need to regularly turn trains around at Wolverhampton."

"A new direct two hourly service from Holyhead to Birmingham New Street and International via Chester and Shrewsbury. This will replaces Arriva Trains Wales direct Holyhead to Crewe services."

"The timetable is being designed with extra performance contingency", oh good thats all right then -):

A deal which could see trains travelling through Oswestry after an absence of more than 40 years could be sealed next week.Shropshire County Council has clinched the purchase of a redundant section of the Cambrian Railway line in Oswestry from Network Rail, which paves the way for an access to be built to the planned 30 million health village.

The train company behind Wales' newest direct intercity service has not introduced carriages adapted for disabled users on time.

Wrexham and Shropshire had specified a deadline of July for its Wrexham to London service, which opened in April.

Now it says it is unable to set any date by which access will be upgraded.

A rail link between two West Midlands stations could be axed after the government said it is ending its funding.

The Department for Transport has said the 15-minute long Walsall to Wolverhampton link is "lightly used".

The money could certainly be better used elsewhere.
