cynic: I started this thread with the SP at 288p,so a 5 bagger at the moment.Your point about the SP putting you off is valid and many PI's feel the same, but its the
M/Cap along with the fundamentals which are most important. This share is being driven by institutions who are not put off by the high SP.
Their's still a lot of mileage in this share, once the pipeline is finished,6000bopd which in turn will prove up P1/P2 reserves to a much higher level, then on to 1st
10000bopd increasing to 25000bopd(all being well). The SP will be well above 30
come 2008 and even higher in 2009. aimho etc

the sp per se is no worry ..... i am not one of thjose who only buys penny stocks! ..... however, i have never heard of IEC (whereas i have of TLW and BUR for example) so have no idea what i might be buying into - or not as the case may be!

cyril, thanks for the pointers. My first buy was April 2004 @ 1.19, kept buying until my last buy @ 6.47 Oct 2006. Holding 8000 @ 3.92 ave. I've set myself 30 target, and then review it. Like you I think we could end up higher. After all we,ve got more oil than Cairn. Should be able to afford a good accountant by 2009!
cynic, one thing which impresses me about the company is the relationships with the Tomsk authorities. IEC have been commended for their excellent approach to international business, which has involved presentations to the authorities and sponsorship of the local university. They didn't seem to have any problem getting permission to carve a pipeline through the Siberian forest. If you haven't done already have a look at www.imperialenergy.com

thanks for your input guys ..... shall be looking closely, though entry price is quite difficult to judge - e.g. today approx 150+ at one point but only approx 70+ at the end

This is looking good. I expected a much bigger retraction from 15. Perhaps the move to the main market is already having a steadying influence.
Could be a decent rise over the next couple of weeks, before the switch and ops update.

strewth guys! ..... sorry to see this debacle, for i fear a number of you will have been well and truly singed .... prob with this sort of stock is that the falls are vicious and self-perpetuating .... i am not sure how serious this "enquiry" is, and if the management is lucky, all will blow over as it did with POG ..... diff there, is that the Hambro family has a century of close involvement with the Russian government and also employs Russian nationals almost exclusively.
eventually the selling will dry up, but that may be not until 900 of 200 dma (850'ish) is hit

In a statement, Imperial said the Russia's Natural Resources Ministry has checked the company's oil projects in the country and have found them to be in full compliance of its licence obligations.
Imperial said it received from the Ministry on Tuesday a 'formal written Act of Confirmation' stating the group has 'met or exceeded' all of its licence commitments
Thats good enough for me!

i don't hold these shares, so have no axe to grind ..... IEC's own statement indeed gives some comfort, but the RNS from yesterday, "AFX roundup" I think it was called, gives a much fuller picture from several angles ..... well worth reading

I respect your opinions always honest and well thought out. Iam only a small holder in this share (250) and i know this example is not the same but thought of RPT year or so ago, licence problems, fell right back. I brought in @60p. Just thought this might be a really good buying opportunity.8-)

rather hold IEC than RPT! ..... Timmins is at best a moral crook .... tempted by greed to buy IEC at these levels

I don't think the Russians will pull the plug, given the levels of investment in the Tomsk region by IEC (very simple theory, I know). Oleg Mitlov appears to have a habit of blowing hot air. The company seems to have very good relationships with the local authorities and I expect this will be cleared up sooner rather than later. As to the overall effect on the SP, we'll have to wait and see. Fortunately I'm long on this and am prepared to ride the storm.

Sometimes you`ve just got to take a gamble on gut feeling. I brought in again earlier on @10.60. Good Luck 8-)

reckon you should be ok, but may be something of a lumpy ride ..... perhaps set a realistic profit target and stick to it.

You are playing with fire here cynic.

What can one say at a time like this? The Russians being the Russians i suppose.
IEC as been pointed out are in full compliance with the Licence, but seems not to
satisfy the market, shorters are my biggest worry, once they smell blood?
IEC has become much more of a gamble, i believe all will work out but i,m
no expert and it's just imho.
Best of luck all, difficult decisions to make?
