Help requested.
I have just purchased a new Epsom printer. I was able to go through the set up until the box opened to enter the router ID digits, the box would only allow the first 8 digits (there are 10 in the ID) and then it auto closed and a message came up 'setting up failed'.
Tried several times with same result.
Any idea's gratefully received.

Which particular model of Epsom printer, Greek?
I'm taking a guess and presuming you are trying to make a wireless connection?
In the meantime, there are some good instructions here which might give you some good pointers as to what might be going wrong:

Particularly see the notes on pages 3, 10 and 21

Firstly, as you are entering the ID then I presume it is a WiFi printer. Normally WiFi printers scan for existing WiFi IDs. Are you sure that you cannot make the printer scan.
Secondly, you could change the WiFi ID by configuring your router.
A remote possibility is that the printer is in another mode and it is asking for a code for a local and hoc connection where you just enter a code that your router supplies (usually numeric).

Hi Haystack,
Yes its a WiFi printer, but it will not scan for existing WiFi IDs.
The router ID is used on the Laptop, so don't want to change it as not very IT literate, but will look at if its in the wrong mode, although not sure how to check that.
ExecLine,
Its an Epson XP 312.
Will try the link later, it does look the best of those I have tried so far.
Will post result on here.
Thanks to both for getting back to me.
Regards Greek.

Hi Haystack,
Problem is this one won't or I am doing something wrong.
Will try again this evening, thanks.

Still unable to sort printer out, so decided to wait till a nephew is available next week to see if he has any ideas.
In case wondering why he was not asked first, he has been abroad for quite a while and difficult to contact, but thanks again to both for trying to help.

DVD vice soft is fantastic. It is virtually the only video/so and software you will need. It handles everything including downloading from YouTube. It handles creating files for mobiles, copyingCDs DVDs etc.
There are separate modules but download free studio and that has them all

Thanks - I'll have a look over the weekend.
Next question - I don't speak MAC, but my son is after a 27" IMAC @£1449.
Apple do some refurbed models with better specs including 'fusion drive'.
Stan/Harry/anyone have experience of similar -
Refurbished 27-inch iMac 3.4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7

If you know anyone going to the States, get them to buy you one whilst out there. Only problem is getting it back as hand luggage! I heard of someone who bought a Macbook Air this summer in the US for £575 (UK £999). Doubt it was declared at customs mind you :-)

I'm not sure a 27" screen will fit in the lockers! :-)

ExecLine/Haystack,
Printer problem sorted by son, but thanks anyway for trying to help.
Have either of you got windows 8.1, as that is on my new laptop, problem is that the screen is too sensitive as every time the cursor goes anywhere near the right hand edge of the screen, icons jump out from the side, very annoying.
Is this a common problem.

Greekman - I have W8.1.
It is much more friendly (to my mind), if you configure it to boot straight to the desktop.
