Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

Fred1new - 11 Dec 2018 18:12 - 10741 of 12628

Manuel,

I see Corbyn as a reasonable pragmatist with a respect for society and its needs as a whole, not just self-identifying with only one sphere of it and content to, or trying to advantage themselves at the expense of others.

Does he make mistakes?

Sure, but not to the same size, or as many of the mistakes that have been are being made by the present inept and inadequate oligarchy attempting to govern or misgoverning the UK at present.

Who seem to many observing to be self-serving, as were those in the previous tory government.

But I can see why they appeal to zealots like you often seem to me to be.

What will Corbyn be like as a PM?

Not certain, but his success may be by forming a collegiate type of cabinet or coalition and acting as a CEO making decisions and policy changes after advice, discussion and thought.

Also, perhaps, and I hope taking actions with awareness and attempts to consider the possible consequences of such actions.

It will be interesting to watch and observe what occurs if he becomes PM.

He doesn't listen to the sensible ones in his party now Fred and would like to see them deselected so what you want won't happen.

Stan - 11 Dec 2018 20:15 - 10743 of 12628

"He doesn't listen to the sensible ones"

Ha ha what just like you Tories on this thread.. that's a laugh and a half 😃

Just for the record who exactly do you call the sensible ones who you say are wanted to be deselected?

As already stated Jezzers dog would do more for this Country then your good for nothing Tory wasters...by the way where is that strong Tory supporter Haystack when his Government needs him most on here?

Fred1new - 11 Dec 2018 21:16 - 10744 of 12628

She has been a real hit in Europe.

Dil - 12 Dec 2018 01:43 - 10745 of 12628

Stan , I'm not a Tory but will never ever vote Labour again until Corby and his loonies have been outed.

That's why when they should be streets ahead in the polls given the cock up May has made of Brexit they are struggling to get any type of lead and why Fred says he wants a coalition because he knows they can't win an election by themselves.

Best Labour MP , or should I say the one who comes over the best and could win a majority is probably Yvette Cooper.

Never been a big fan of hers or her policies but at least they are credible compared to the far lefts muppet Corby.

Unite have this week taken charge of Wales. Welsh labour had done ok last few years by distancing itself from Corby. Watch what happens in Wales over the next couple of years then tell me that's what you want too.

At least in Wales when we had a referendum that ended 50.2 / 49.8 we accepted it. It's only London and SE don't accept the Brexit result in general and the rest of us have to suffer because of it.

And I do agree most Tory MPs are good for nothing and if there was a decent opposition party they wouldn't be in power.

Since Corby's loonies have taken over Labour has been wiped out in Scotland , rule Wales with the support of Libs 1 Assembly Member after losing 7 seats to UKIP and had a disaster in last years local elections in England in relation to how they should have performed.
.

Off to Heathrow now and if I see Mrs May I'll give her your regards Stan :-)

Cerise Noire Girl - 12 Dec 2018 08:40 - 10747 of 12628

So, a leadership challenge is underway. Hopefully tonight is the night that the Vile Undertaker conducts his own funeral!!!

iturama - 12 Dec 2018 08:44 - 10748 of 12628

If you do see her Dil, remind her that two thirds of Burnley voted out in the referendum showing that not all there are thick. Less voted to remain than go to the match on Saturday and that's not a lot. No wonder Stan stays on the skybridge or whatever.

Fred1new - 12 Dec 2018 08:52 - 10749 of 12628

Dil,

Buy a one-way ticket.

Martini - 12 Dec 2018 09:03 - 10750 of 12628

My gut feeling is she will win and be safe from her own party for at least a year.
Great theatre isn’t it?

Cerise Noire Girl - 12 Dec 2018 09:12 - 10751 of 12628

I'm with you on that, Martini. It's taken too long to muster the 48 letters - getting 158 votes is whole new ball game and, to be fair, Maggie Dismay does represent the voice of reason within the party.

I think Moggy's shot his bolt too early (as he also did with his umpteen kids!).

iturama - 12 Dec 2018 09:38 - 10752 of 12628

Owen Paterson's letter sums it all up. She has to go. She messed up the election with her fool advisers and she messed up the Brexit negotiations by listening to the same incompetents. While the EU stayed with and supported Barnier, she failed to give her appointed team the same freedom and support. She may be dogged but with the wrong people. White woman talk with forked tongue.

MaxK - 12 Dec 2018 09:58 - 10753 of 12628

They might well decide to support her, who knows?

But if they do, it's the end of the tory party.

Clocktower - 12 Dec 2018 10:10 - 10754 of 12628

She is a tuff cookie and I will be surprised if she does not win tonight, even though I am of the view she should go, unless she is willing to leave with no deal and just get on with it.

Dil - 12 Dec 2018 10:44 - 10755 of 12628

Bad news Fred , it wasn't me going anywhere but one of the kids off to Iceland.

How's the betting looking on May surviving ? Hope she loses but I think it could be close

Is she doing PM questions today ? Could be worth a watch if she is.

Clocktower - 12 Dec 2018 10:57 - 10756 of 12628

Question is Dil - who would be strong enough to deliver the clean break from the EU?

If TM cannot do a deal that would get voted through, would she then deliver the clean break that would in the long term be good for the country.

Fred1new - 12 Dec 2018 11:05 - 10757 of 12628

Dil,

One can live in hope.

-=-=-=

Has TM been reported to HMRC.

Dil - 12 Dec 2018 11:11 - 10758 of 12628

She might CT but I think the EU would back down on the back stop agreement before that happens.

Trouble is that the rest of the agreement is crap too and they'll walk all over her again in the trade talks.

Fred :-)

cynic - 12 Dec 2018 11:11 - 10759 of 12628

according to fred, corbyn is a principled and reasonable pragmatist, which i take it means that he'll just continue as a limp lettuce in regards to brexit ..... assuredly he will not (be allowed to) deliver a decisive break from europe

for that matter, i don't think anyone can, despite the rantings of some rabids on this site

would a 2nd referendum clarify matters?
imo, no ...... there'll once again be a narrow victory for one side or the other, taking us no further forward at all from where we already are

Dil - 12 Dec 2018 11:14 - 10760 of 12628

Mays about 1/3 to win the confidence vote after being as low as 1/6 and as high as 1/2. Could be stuck with her for another 12 months.
