Referendum : to be in Europe or not to be ?, that is the question ! (REF)

required field - 03 Feb 2016 10:00

Thought I'd start a new thread as this is going to be a major talking point this year...have not made up my mind yet...(unlike bucksfizz)....but thinking of voting for an exit as Europe is not doing Britain any good at all it seems....

iturama - 12 Dec 2018 08:44 - 10748 of 12628

If you do see her Dil, remind her that two thirds of Burnley voted out in the referendum showing that not all there are thick. Less voted to remain than go to the match on Saturday and that's not a lot. No wonder Stan stays on the skybridge or whatever.

Fred1new - 12 Dec 2018 08:52 - 10749 of 12628

Dil,

Buy a one-way ticket.

Martini - 12 Dec 2018 09:03 - 10750 of 12628

My gut feeling is she will win and be safe from her own party for at least a year.
Great theatre isn’t it?

Cerise Noire Girl - 12 Dec 2018 09:12 - 10751 of 12628

I'm with you on that, Martini. It's taken too long to muster the 48 letters - getting 158 votes is whole new ball game and, to be fair, Maggie Dismay does represent the voice of reason within the party.

I think Moggy's shot his bolt too early (as he also did with his umpteen kids!).

iturama - 12 Dec 2018 09:38 - 10752 of 12628

Owen Paterson's letter sums it all up. She has to go. She messed up the election with her fool advisers and she messed up the Brexit negotiations by listening to the same incompetents. While the EU stayed with and supported Barnier, she failed to give her appointed team the same freedom and support. She may be dogged but with the wrong people. White woman talk with forked tongue.

MaxK - 12 Dec 2018 09:58 - 10753 of 12628

They might well decide to support her, who knows?

But if they do, it's the end of the tory party.

Clocktower - 12 Dec 2018 10:10 - 10754 of 12628

She is a tuff cookie and I will be surprised if she does not win tonight, even though I am of the view she should go, unless she is willing to leave with no deal and just get on with it.

Dil - 12 Dec 2018 10:44 - 10755 of 12628

Bad news Fred , it wasn't me going anywhere but one of the kids off to Iceland.

How's the betting looking on May surviving ? Hope she loses but I think it could be close

Is she doing PM questions today ? Could be worth a watch if she is.

Clocktower - 12 Dec 2018 10:57 - 10756 of 12628

Question is Dil - who would be strong enough to deliver the clean break from the EU?

If TM cannot do a deal that would get voted through, would she then deliver the clean break that would in the long term be good for the country.

Fred1new - 12 Dec 2018 11:05 - 10757 of 12628

Dil,

One can live in hope.

-=-=-=

Has TM been reported to HMRC.

Dil - 12 Dec 2018 11:11 - 10758 of 12628

She might CT but I think the EU would back down on the back stop agreement before that happens.

Trouble is that the rest of the agreement is crap too and they'll walk all over her again in the trade talks.

Fred :-)

cynic - 12 Dec 2018 11:11 - 10759 of 12628

according to fred, corbyn is a principled and reasonable pragmatist, which i take it means that he'll just continue as a limp lettuce in regards to brexit ..... assuredly he will not (be allowed to) deliver a decisive break from europe

for that matter, i don't think anyone can, despite the rantings of some rabids on this site

would a 2nd referendum clarify matters?
imo, no ...... there'll once again be a narrow victory for one side or the other, taking us no further forward at all from where we already are

Dil - 12 Dec 2018 11:14 - 10760 of 12628

Mays about 1/3 to win the confidence vote after being as low as 1/6 and as high as 1/2. Could be stuck with her for another 12 months.

Fred1new - 12 Dec 2018 11:21 - 10761 of 12628

The "confidence" vote just points to the general incompetence of the present tory government made up of self-interested con artists.

The general public is bemused, others in the world are shaking their heads sadly, but vowing not to trust the UK in future negotiations.

Martini - 12 Dec 2018 11:31 - 10762 of 12628

There goes Fred again speaking for the nation and now the rest of the world pompous ass comes to mind.

Fred1new - 12 Dec 2018 11:52 - 10763 of 12628

Donkey,

Take your blinkers off and check what is under your tail.

Clocktower - 12 Dec 2018 12:15 - 10764 of 12628

JC taking a battering from TM - looks well out of his depth and furious that he is failing to make headway while she is weakend, let alone if she wins, she could well walk all over him and his party.

Martini - 12 Dec 2018 12:23 - 10765 of 12628

Spot on CT. JC staring at an open goal and he stubs his foot as he he puts it into his mouth.

Unable to talk if it is not scripted for him. the Incontinent Gardener had him stumped.

Fred1new - 12 Dec 2018 12:27 - 10766 of 12628

Fantastic humour!

She should attempt doing it on the stage in a pantomime.

A fitting place for your icon.

Martini - 12 Dec 2018 12:29 - 10767 of 12628

And you think Donkeys and arses is more amusing. Pa what a PA
