Football, What chances !, World Cup, Euro, Clubs, for all : home and away ! (FC)

required field - 14 Jul 2010 13:55

It is now time to switch to a new Money AM football blog as the world cup is now over and we all look to the future.....World cup 2010 is over, Bravo Espana, and Forlan, once again and bring on the new season !.....I never expected the last thread to be such a success...thanks all.... so this new one might go on for years without the need to edit the title...we shall see...

The team won't be confirmed until an hour before kick-off but this will be the England team which starts for England: Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, John Terry, Joleon Lescott, Ashley Cole, James Milner, Steven Gerrard, Scott Parker, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ashley Young, Danny Welbeck.

It's not the attack that worries me it's the defense.

Stan - In my opinion Terry must play on the left of centre - otherwise OK for the start.

Stan - 11 Jun 2012 16:22 - 1081 of 6918

It's mainly Lescott that worries me more OA, he's had a good season at City but I'm not convinced he's up to international standard, as usual we shall see.

Stan - 11 Jun 2012 16:45 - 1082 of 6918

Blimey! Clemence has gone down injured now.. there doomed I tell ya doomed -):

required field - 11 Jun 2012 19:48 - 1083 of 6918

Well Lescott is the hero for England....can't believe it...but there you go....super cross from Gerrard......Difficult that French team.......both teams can progress from this group....we need to score quite a few goals in the next two matches to win the group....

Dil - 11 Jun 2012 21:01 - 1084 of 6918

Will Hill and Coral were 3.5 or 5/2 in old money for England to win rf.

required field - 11 Jun 2012 21:19 - 1085 of 6918

Better than what I had......nevermind...I'm pleased with the draw but by the look of Ukraine-Sweden....this is not going to be easy...we need a win against the Swedes in the next game....by the way...anybody notice that Dustin Hoffman was playing as a linesman in England-France !....

Tournament Map

Stan - 12 Jun 2012 09:22 - 1087 of 6918

Well I never what an excellent performance throughout, the only blot was that I thought that Hart might have saved Nasri's shot. A bit harsh on seeing it again as I don't think he saw it till late.

Looked at that Map skinny but a bit busy for me so I printed off this one http://www.oddschecker.com/football/internationals/euro-2012

skinny - 12 Jun 2012 10:33 - 1088 of 6918

Thanks Stan - as you say, a little less "busy".

required field - 12 Jun 2012 11:33 - 1089 of 6918

Have to say that Roy Hodgson certainly knows how to set up a team for the job......I like an organised side and for that it looks like that is what we are going to get.....a win is vital now against Sweden.....impossible to predict France-Ukraine.....in all cases we need to beat the Swedes .....

Chris Carson - 12 Jun 2012 12:04 - 1090 of 6918

I prefer a team to score goals rf, all well and good being organised but when opportunities arise to score at that level it should be a foregone conclusion. Downing had an open goal, I could have knocked it in with my cock, trust me I am not bragging :O)

skinny - 12 Jun 2012 12:14 - 1091 of 6918

Chris - you do realise that 2 yellow cards and its out at this point! :-)

Greece 1 2 down already.

Stan - 12 Jun 2012 22:13 - 1094 of 6918

What an atmosphere at the Poland - Russia game, obviously Poland really wanted it for historic reasons, got stronger as the game progressed.

required field - 12 Jun 2012 22:44 - 1095 of 6918

Missed everything today...too busy, but I gather that the game was special !....

Dil - 13 Jun 2012 01:37 - 1096 of 6918

lol yeah , bit like Swansea v Cardiff for all the wrong reasons.

Really looking foward to Germany v Holland tomorrow , reckon these could still meet again in the final.

Been a good tournament so far , no one outstanding team and though it pains me to say it ... England with a fair wind , right decisions and a bit of luck got a good a chance as any.

Looks like last nights game had a warm up period!

Euro 2012: Football fans in Warsaw clash

Greystone - 13 Jun 2012 09:10 - 1098 of 6918

Watching Euro 2012 for me here in Spain is something of a diplomatic nightmare.

I obviously would like England to do well, but I still like to give Spain a cheer. I also
have to be aware that my neighbours are Dutch, two Irish families live just around the
corner, the barmaid at my local (a very important person) is Russian and the Chef
(even more important) is a Czech.

I am accumulating quite a collection of T-shirts and must remember to wear the right
one each time I go out to watch a match..... ;)
