Try adding r i.e. chkdsk /f /r the /r finds bad sectors.

Also if you find which raid controller is fitted you may find utilities on their site which could help defraging to disks..

Hi,
I am in a right pickle. Ive got an old panasonic CF-25 laptop. When I switck it on it goes through the normal process of memory scan then 'please run setup program.' 'press F1 to continue.' I put in my windows 98 boot disk, the floppy drive starts then stops and all I get is a flashing line in the top right corner of the screen. I cant get into dos or anything to fdisk. I am stuck!!
Can anybody please help?

wilbs,
you`ve made enough lately, buy a new one, or even two so you`ve got a back-up!!!!. seriously, it sounds similar to when my hard drive went, although i`m no techie.

wilbs, to recover the drive of a laptop you normally need the manufacturer supplied CD with Windows on it. That is because special drivers for the laptop hardware are needed. You're unlikely to be successful with a standard Windows disk. However the manufacturer CDs are often available on Ebay or from manufacturer support.

Thanks kayak. Its an old laptop. I bought 2 for 50. One had no battery or hd so I was gonna keep it for spares. Ive wasted too much time on it so bought a new one. Thanks anyway.

Yup I know Mickey but I just thought I'd check 1st...also I don't like the thought of maybe missing something.

mickeyskint - 19 Feb 2005 12:28 - 120 of 133

Sooner miss something than catch something. Try scanning the email, not alway successful though.

Your right Mickey, just bring It to the top In case someone else has received It before I delete.

Spaceman - 20 Feb 2005 19:55 - 122 of 133

Stan, do you use Outlook? is so you could use a small add in called Pocketknife Peek which allows you to have a look at incoming emails without openeing any of the bits than can cause trouble. Its free and you can find it here :- http://www.xintercept.com/pkpeek.htm

Stan - 20 Feb 2005 22:33 - 123 of 133

I'm afraid not Spaceman, I use a Mac. But thanks.

Velocity - 17 Mar 2005 21:39 - 124 of 133

Can anyone help please, this is driving me bonkers?!

My yahoo email account has taken it upon itself to automatically block/not deliver inbound emails that I know have been correctly sent. Similarly, when I send emails from the yahoo account they either aren't delivered, or get bounced back from mailer-daemon@yahoo.com. I also replicated this on another yahoo address with the same results. Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks
V

Anyone else having trouble accessing The day's trades from companies on the portfolio lists?

jimmy b - 14 Jun 2005 17:40 - 126 of 133

Yes every time i put in a new epic code it stops. Try hitting the trades button after you put in the epic, it works for me.

Stan - 14 Jun 2005 17:45 - 127 of 133

Actually I meant companies on the watch list.
