Dowgate Capital - Capitalising on the booming AIM market (DGT)

overgrowth - 09 Feb 2005 20:52

Dowgate Capital (DGT) are sitting in the middle of a goldmine!

This company through their sole trading arm City Financial Associates are looking to take full advantage of the "booming" AIM market this year. Dowgate provide NOMAD (NOMinated ADvisor) services to AIM companies and also have full Corporate Broker status which means that they can fund placements on behalf of the companies they represent.

On first sight, the fact that Dowgate exist in the often veiled financial services sector makes you think twice about investing in company such as this because it would be impossible to understand what they were doing - however, think again!

DGT bring new companies to the AIM (Alternative Investment Market). For each new company "floated" on AIM, they take arrangement fees when acting as NOMAD. After the company is launched then for a nice steady earner DGT get another healthy chunk of cash every year for looking after them (note that all AIM companies must have a nominated adviser - thereby securing a ready source of recurring income).

Because DGT also act as a Corporate broker they can get a very healthy percentage for arranging placement of shares with insititutions before a new company floats. In addition, because placements come outside the sphere of yearly NOMAD work, they can also gain healthy percentages of placements which companies may need to make throughout the year when they need a quick injection of cash to speed growth.

Current NOMADships: 28 companies represented (gives recurring income of approx 480,000 per year)

Current on-going Brokerage agreements: 19 companies (income depends on placements)

For flotations, depending on the size of a company, fees charged will be anything from 50,000 to 100,000+ For placements (the real earner), DGT get anything from 3% to around 12% of the TOTAL AMOUNT RAISED - For example a new company raising 3M though a placement will earn DGT anything from 90,000 to 360,000 ! These figures are indicative as actual deals all differ due to circumstances and DGT sometimes take payment in shares - they still have a tasty chunk of Setstone shares and when this Russian exploration company comes back to AIM, predictions are that the share price will rocket. Note that the amount that this little company can earn in fees is huge and every new deal that comes through we know will contribute another healthy chunk into the bottom line. The good news with every new floatation means that it's another chunk of recurring revenue which could go on for years, with DGT having to do very little. New clients gained in 2005 are:

Mediazest (NOMAD & broker) Elite Strategies (NOMAD) Process Handling (NOMAD) Poland Investment Fund (NOMAD) Nanotech Energy (NOMAD & broker) Archimedia Ventures (NOMAD & broker) Red Leopard Holdings (NOMAD) Alba Mineral Resources (NOMAD & broker) Intandem Films (NOMAD & broker) Motive Television (NOMAD) IncaGold (NOMAD) Sportswinbet (NOMAD & Broker) Infoscreen Networks (NOMAD & Broker) Mark Kingsley (NOMAD & Broker) Croatia Ventures (NOMAD & Broker) Pantheon Leisure (NOMAD) Firenze Ventures (Ofex Advisor) FlightStore Group (NOMAD & Broker) Euro Capital Projects (NOMAD) Pearl Street Holdings (NOMAD) Worldwide Natural Resources (Ofex Advisor) Dovedale Ventures (Ofex Advisor) Other 2005 work completed:Neptune-Calculus VCT offer for subs of up to 12 million Advisory work for TGM on London Bus disposal for 20.4M Advisory work for Creightons on property disposal Advisory work for Hampton Trust on company restructuring Advisory work for Interbulk Investments on acquisition of Inbulk Advisory work for Fundamental-e Investments on two disposals Advisory work for Designer Vision re: Design Rights against Centurion Electronics

Well said, steevie; its up to df to prove he is neither dead wood nor a dead duck! Mind, I think its duck a l'orange for supper and that's dead, I hope (plus Rioja, of course!). We know, df, you have a huge, even if macabre, attraction for this one; so, go on, jump in; you may get a new lease of life! lol! :-)

Another steady rise for CFP today.

I think some traders are attempting to drum up a "spike" again, though there aren't any takers this time.

Which is very good news because with continued new business rolling in, we will be much better off with a steadily increasing share price which will continue rather than the craziness we saw last year.

snakey - 11 Mar 2005 13:47 - 114 of 2787

OG, I agree and I am pretty confident that we are going to see us around the 0.6/0.7p on or around the results date which I also think is a very sustainable SP and can only increase on more activity and newsflow

A confirmed 'buy' signal..........http://www.britishbulls.com/StockPage.asp?CompanyTicker=CFP&MarketTicker=FINANCIALS&Typ=S

Well done! You did it! Clever boy (presumably? - keep finding many of the best tipsters are female!). Good to see the tipsters coming in on the act. Admit to having reduced my stake, because of urgent action needed elsewhere, but it is relatively hefty. I hereby promise not to be further so tempted, so help me God, whom it is here revealed is female!

overgrowth - 11 Mar 2005 22:56 - 117 of 2787

I'll have whatever Eric's drinking lol!

Even more great news.....yet another NOMADship and CFP are broker to the placement this time also:

RNS out today for Nanotech Energy PLC

Hitting AIM on 31st March and raising 400,000 for floatation.

Another one from Griffin - looking like an ideal partnership.

We should see some more upside on Monday on the back of this.

If they keep on going at this pace they'll be hot on the trail of Daniel Stewart et al, then we'll really see some upside in the price.

EWRobson - 11 Mar 2005 23:09 - 118 of 2787

Super post again, overgrowth, they certainly seem to be getting their share of the AIM market action. Not everyone may be aware that this is the first quarter so it will be the trading report with the 2004 results which will be the key. A price movement to 1p is not out of the question as that is still only a cap of 6m. Whilst they do have a core of retainer fees, the work on floats is fixed price on success only, which is where things went wrong in the second half. You certainly get the feel that they are having success in bringing the horses to the trough and making the market drink. The price still reflect the historical disappointment. All that needs to happen, really, is for the city to decide that that was just a blip in an on-going success story.

By the way, confess its the Rioja again; had to drown the golf course sorrows!Eric

snakey - 12 Mar 2005 12:41 - 119 of 2787

Eric,
you`ll be able to treat yourself to a decent Fleurie soon, but I am still wary of Griffin liaison.

butane - 12 Mar 2005 17:28 - 120 of 2787

Below is from the other board.......29 companies plus Intandem will make 30 in total......(CFP are to be both broker and nomad to Intandem when it floats).

I feel the need to top up coming on! patience will be rewarded handsomely with this one I hope. Good post Butane- thanks MP

butane - 12 Mar 2005 18:04 - 122 of 2787

I'm not one to make predictictions normally but i really feel that 1p is not too far away once we get the results and SB out of the way, all we then need is a positive forward looking statement which, going by the recent contract wins, is a forgone conclusion .

snakey - 13 Mar 2005 01:07 - 123 of 2787

from the above client companies, does anyone have a list of CFP holdings in them please?

overgrowth - 13 Mar 2005 13:11 - 124 of 2787

snakey - the value of "investments" mentioned in the last results appeared to cater for the decent amount of shares still held in Setstone (which they no longer represent, currently suspended though expected to re-enter the market during May after legal problems are ironed out with their new mining venture), and not much more besides.

I get the feeling that TR and co. have a different strategy to the old management and are well aware that share values normally diminish after small companies are launched.

Because the strategy now appears to be to get Seymour Pierce to take a share of the broking side of things, CFP should be able to ensure that there is enough manpower available to get full buy-in from insitutional investors and not have to take shares as part payment for their services - unless of course the company being launched has spectacular prospects.

Recurring revenue is the first thing for TR and team to sort out by bringing in lots of new NOMADships, then they can concentrate on increasing the resources available to cover placements in their broking department.

Although holding shares in some recently IPO'd companies can pay big dividends, on the whole CFP are better off making sure that they get the recurring fees first to keep the cash flow going and then to add the cream of broking percentages on top to really push the company forwards.

EWRobson - 13 Mar 2005 19:23 - 125 of 2787

butane, overgrowth

Great posts. The nomad role is important for the bread and butter but the strawberries and cream comes for share flotations. Recent posts indicated six such situations as occurrin at present - you, yourself, od indicated that each was worth o.1p on the share price. Does this list change the perspective and shorter term prospects?

Eric

overgrowth - 13 Mar 2005 19:56 - 126 of 2787

Hi Eric,

I would say that a floatation where CFP are brokering the placement (and the placement is for 500K+), then this will be worth 0.1p on the share price.

It's harder to put a figure on the sort of deals they are doing now, because there's a mixture of all sorts e.g. in some cases Seymour Pierce act as broker for the IPO placement but after then CFP take on the responsibility for broker as well as NOMAD. Though simply a NOMAD deal should be worth at least 0.05p on the price. On that basis the sp should be around 0.6p by now, so expect some more upside next week.

Most of these new companies need to go back to the markets for cash several times so we can expect to get on-going brokerage comissions from all the companies where CFP is broker.

Of the 6 companies launched by CFP this year:

Creightons
Mediazest
Elite Strategies
Process Handling
Poland Investment Fund
Nanotech Energy

CFP are NOMAD for all and also broker for Mediazest and Nanotech Energy.

Great to see that CFP are really motoring now !

imho

i smell farm does anyone else

lots of rompers on this thread(or is that rampers)

EWRobson - 13 Mar 2005 20:40 - 128 of 2787

Hello df - back from the dead? Or just wallowing down on the farm! Now, you're not a ramper, but perhaps you're not a deramper either, perhaps rather just a sinister presence on the touchline! You need to support a decent club like United - Neecassel, that is, of course - then you would be in better 'spirits'!
